Hello folks, my name is CB and I am no developer.
I neither want nor deserve any recognition or status and I don't want
any donations for the work I've done. I can cut and paste and I got lucky
that the people who have gone before me made all this **** very compatible.
I have gotten permission to use this base and this kernel. I got tired of waiting
and asking for someone to release a rom like this so I took matters into my own hands.
This is an ATT base and it
DOES NOT SUPPORT WIFI CALLING
at this time.

The good:

highly dewizzed
zeam launcher
bravia
xloud
high res media fix
fast 3g/4g
The Bad:
No Wifi calling....yet
No CRT off
Money printing currently bugged
The Ugly:
Still twiz :'(
No Theme
TO INSTALL
- Make a Nand Backup
- Download rom.zip and place on sdcard
- Boot into clockwork recovery
- DO A FULL WIPE 3 DAMN TIMES!
- Install zip from sdcard
- Once zip has finished installing, reboot
- Now wait a minimum of 10 minutes, seriously...
- Reboot
ALSO I SUGGEST
After waiting 10 mins from first boot, batch restore all apps with data
THEN REBOOT
Then go and restore the user data like mms, contacts, wifi etc.
THEN REBOOT INTO RECOVERY and wipe cache, dalvik and fix permissions
Let the Rom settle for 5 mins after home screen boots.
This sequence will ensure a more stable system.
And also, Freeze wifi sharing and wifi sharing manager
and try it WITHOUT any OC apps first, if you followed all the above instructions it
should sleep very efficiently and be very responsive.
If your device is bricked at any time during the use of this rom I cannot be held responsible.

waiting now...,..lol thank you brother
Good to see you back I ran your rom since you posted it and it worked great had a couple little issues but really smooth and had great battery life for me. I imagine you had an issue because of some apps which you had included? Either way don't matter to me but hope your rom is here to stay and you continue to work on it bro

So what am I doing wrong? After I restored dat.... I have no icons at top of screen. When I try to swype down it brings me to all my applications....
Not a big deal at all, but when the phone is in vibrate it seems to show the silent icon on the status bar. Still vibrates, but the icon is wrong. Is this just me?
Thanks in advance,
Russ

Sorry to ask, and no offense intended, but can you address the question of whether the questionable components have been removed? I would like to try the ROM but want to be sure. Thank you!
I'm pretty sure he's aware of why his rom was taken down lol. Anyway, is there tw launcher in here at all?

Not sure how your observation is at all helpful or needed. I am sure he is aware of why it was taken down and I was not asking him that. I was asking if the reason it was taken down was addressed. Otherwise, it may be taken down again. I think it is a fair question and deserves an answer.

Well i believe it was only root explorer... You can always download the rom and see if it's in there. And if you fear the piracy police, just remove it. You shouldn't really be pressing for a question to be answered when it was just recently asked. Such demands makes you look arrogant.

Just flashed this ROM, excellent speed, battery life seems decent so far (3% drain standby per hour). I remember you put up SKYicecream in your old thread in the general forum, any chance of working with that particular ROM again? Thanks!

Oh my goodness. Somebody please, quick, tell me how I can revert to the previous version!
This is a disaster on my phone. Google bar added to home screen (I didn't put it there, I don't want it, it is unremovable!). Takes up vertical real estate, along with the MUCH LARGER dock bar (and I can find no way to make that smaller either...arghhhh).
Those two things have reduced the real estate and jammed the icons together on the screen so the text on many is unreadable.
It is SLOWER than the previous version by far.
PLEASE I beg you; somebody tell me how to revert to the previous version which I LOVED. Do you have the previous version in a format that will allow it to be installed?
I have saved the following files from my dropbox folder:
org.adw.launcher-20120314-212145.tar.gz --only 5.02 KB though ?? Sep 2012
org.adw.launcher-20120314-212145.properties
Jesus Christ! It is perfect. Are you that noobish? Everything is in the settings. I have no google bar and I made the dock smaller from settings.

Well, thank you for the smackdown.
No, not a newbie. No it is not perfect--that is your opinion, not a fact.
Then tell me how to get rid of Google bar; normal means do NOT give you the delete option.
I think you do not have the version I received in the update because there are NUMEROUS comments on Play market and one-star ratings about it. I seriously think you are running the next to current version which WAS nearly perfect (my opinion). The new version is a COMPLETE overhaul, which missed the mark. I believe this because EVERYBODY with the new version has the Google bar.
Mind telling how in settings you made it smaller (I don't mean fewer icons, I mean smaller in height.)
Thanks so much for your willingness to help people.

See atch for pic of home screen.
Why do you even read these boards if you are so high and mighty that if someone knows less than you, you berate them?
I have looked in the settings. In the new version, the options are completely different. What I have said is true. All you can do is complain about me having the audacity to ask for help on a help board.
You are a jerk.
If there is anyone reading who can contribute substantively, I would appreciate your help. I will not answer this jerk any more, so he will have the opportunity to take another low class shot at me, as I will not reply to an idiot.

I'm just pissed coz the update was so good yet people complain. Anyways I'm gonna answer you're question
You can disable the Google bar in ADW Settings>Screen>Actionbar Design>Disabled
The Dock Icon Size is on ADW Settings>App Dock>Dock icons scale. (If that's what you meant)
Now tell me is that too difficult? Is it difficult to just experiment on the new settings? The developer put a lot of time in updating that app so please appreciate it.
And yes I'm a jerk. Thanks!
---------- Post added at 02:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:36 AM ----------
And as for the new update is much slower thingy. Try ADW Settings>System>Advanced Settings>Keep in Memory off, Wallpaper Hack off and Scrolling cache disabled. Also turn off transitions if you want more speed.

Ah, actual help. Now I appreciate that. I had not found the Google bar control because I did not expect it to be labeled 'actionbar.' You are right; it is there and now disabled.
And for the Dock size, I was looking at the options called, ummmm, Dock Size. The 'scale' was off screen and I just flat missed it. See how easy it was just to tell me the answer?
I will now go check the other things mentioned for speed, which is noticeably slower than before.
LATER: OK changed all of those. When I backed out to the desktop screen, it was BLANK for about 5-10 seconds as it had been doing in this version, then populated. i.e., no change. That never happened in the previous version.
Help to find the navigation dots left and right of the dock, to get them back on?

Are you from another planet where they don't even know how to talk and thank?
You can't even type the word "Thanks" nor hit the "Thanks" button for sorting out your problem. All i can see from the first is that you can only complain and nothing more. Stay cool and have a bit of courtesy as well. Learn to thank people when you're helped.
You know, you really gotta learn man. Am forcing myself to say this by seeing your messages and rudeness. Not to offend you in anyway but just making it a point.
Wow.
I do appreciate the help--which was finally offered only after smackdowns and replying pointing out that I was being given put downs instead of help. THEN the help came.
For a help forum, this particular thread has been populated with the most uppity people I've seen in a long time. OK, you are smarter than me. Make you feel good? You sure like putting down people who are stumped, when it is so easy for you, and you FAIL to see how someone else is having a problem--and berate them instead of helping.
What kind of place is this, where you are expected to know how to do it before you ask how to do it? That is insane, to say the least.
I do appreciate the help. I do not appreciate the put downs and having to drag it out by posting about the obvious non-responsiveness.
YOU ARE SMARTER. YOU ARE MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE. I am in awe of your ability. I am not in awe of your unwillingness to share it, and am totally puzzled as to why you even read on a help board when you are unwilling to help--except by being cajoled into it.

I might be getting the T989 tomorrow and I'd like to know some basic information...
-If I'm getting a T989 tomorrow, will it come with the original Android version or the latest (that it supports)?
-Does the T989 "officially" support Jellybean?
-If the T989 is stable on Jellybean, what are some recommended ROMs?
-Are there any major features included in the stock ROM that a custom ROM won't have? I watched a video and remember the person saying WiFi calling won't work on custom ROMS...
-How badly would my battery be "weakened" if I were to keep the phone plugged into my computer (even when battery is 90-100%)?
-Is there anything else I should know?
Its most likely going to come with ICS 4.0.4 since their hasn't been an officaly jelly bean released for our phones yet and I would recommend cm10.1 but to be honest its user prefrenece cm10.1 does have bugs but is also pretty damn stable

Not sure which carrier you're talking about and whether your talking new or used. But yeah, odds are you're gonna get Ice Cream Sandwich flavour T989/D. Stock offerings will look something like this:
View attachment 1724769 (from www dot samsung dot com blah blah blah faq_id=FAQ00044049&fm_seq=44648 )
Once you pick up your new (or new to you) t989 you can check the exact version and revision under "Settings|About" Then you can hop over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895400 to get more precise info about what you picked up.
Me? Well I've been running some version Jelly Bean on my T989D since last summer. I've kind of taken a shine to the AOKP software and am currently running this version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2143784
Lately, I 've become interested in wifi/voip/sip calling too. I am still learning but do have something that works and is integrated with the Jelly Bean dialer, contacts, and history. Can't say that it works as well as I'd like at the moment; but I can call most places in Canada for free whenever I'm close to a decent wifi signal. Wifi calling can be a big drain on the battery and it helps if you're voip/sip provider can "push" incoming calls for you. That way you don't need your phone to be constantly "polling" for incoming calls.
Sounds to me like you know that its not a great idea to have your phone plugged into your computer's usb port all the time. The good news is the t989 has plenty methods to communicate. Still amazes me when I have my phone plugged into the wall charger and I hear it beginning to install an app after I've clicked the "Install" button on some app or another from the "play" store on my desktop computer.
That's about it for now. Best of luck... Go ahead and click the "Thanks" button just left of this post if you found this info helpful! Don't be afraid to come on back to this thread and let us know if you picked up a t989 or some other android phone.
T989 comes on 4.0.4. It has wifi calling but aokp roms won't gibe out access to it

Hey community,
I always have the problem that I don't know which ROM and kernel to flash. To find the answer to that question I always have to spend a lot of time in flashing and testing ROMs and before to read threads to get some expirience from users. I thought about how we may be able to simplify this and so...
...i've created a Google Docs Form which asks you some questions and puts that in a table.
Form: http://goo.gl/S0lU7
Answer table: http://goo.gl/wAF66
You can:
Fill out the form
Edit your answers afterwards (note the link that you'd been given after sending the form)
View the answer table and get some experiences out of one place
This is the first version of the form. I would like to work with you together to make the questions maybe better.
And I would like to make an analysis out of the data that comes in. ^^
Cheers,
Charmacas
Version History
Version 0.58 - Added question about Extended Battery
Version 0.57 - Added question about Brightness settings
Version 0.56 - Added another 3 questions (Nickname, Deep Sleep, User type)
Version 0.53 - Added 3 questions regarding apps and background tasks
Version 0.5 - Initial document
I was about to make a similar thread.
Anyways, going to vote in yours now!
Oh I am sorry. Had searched for something equal but did not find something. But you can help me here if you want to.
This is, by my opinion, the best fit for revision of combo "kernel + rom" ... go go go and share your experience..
Some things I noticed:
Background tasks are not yet included.
Background running apps are not included
Number of installed apps is not included
If so... it should give a better overview I think!?
-- EDIT --
Added 3 questions regarding my thoughts!
THANK YOU!
I can reply to this thread? I just wanted to thank you for this K/R comparison it's the best! Thanks for the further information!

Re: Galaxy Nexus ROM / kernel combination comparison - Version 0.57
I'd like to point out that people seem to be calculating their average hourly % battery drain incorrectly. For example one person posted average uptime of 1440 minutes (24 hours) and an average hourly battery drain of 1%. This is obviously incorrect, as an average of 1% drain per hour would imply 100 hours uptime.
If you do not have an app that accurately reports average hourly % battery drain, the correct way to calculate this would be: (starting battery level) minus (ending battery level) divided by total uptime. For example, if my phone was charged to 97%, I used it until it had 4% left, and that usage lasted 19 hours:
(97 - 4)/19 = 4.89, or about 5% per hour.

No you can't edit your data without the link but I can. What should I edit?
I thought about deleting the form and use the sheet only. But then everybody could edit, delete and as a result manipulate data. But it would have the advantage of an easier administration.

the bottom. It's more relevant post.
And about that, if you can trust users to not mess with the statistics that would be great but I dont know if
there is some jerk who could be such an idiot to mess with that
You can at least try that? Bud you know saving little URL for edditing its sometimes fuzzy and I bet most of the
reviewers have already forgot about that
Re: Galaxy Nexus ROM / kernel combination comparison - Version 0.57
How about adding a question about whether the user uses the stock battery or an extended one? and if extended, how many mAh?

No you can't edit your data without the link but I can. What should I edit?
I thought about deleting the form and use the sheet only. But then everybody could edit, delete and as a result manipulate data. But it would have the advantage of an easier administration.
What do you think?

I would keep the form. It allows greater uniformity among responses, for example where you use drop down menus. Plus you can have some required questions, as you currently have. I'm sure at present the administration isn't too demanding, but I hope this project will grow (I'm taking every appropriate opportunity to post links on xda to this post). If the administration does become cumbersome I can very happily offer what assistance I could provide. I'm currently working towards becoming a statistician (quite a ways to go still but I'm getting there).
Just my 2 cents. Form or sheet this is a great tool.

An idea: one kind of question a user of this tool might ask is "what's the best kernel for my favorite ROM?". Of course you can filter data in the sheet by ROM name or kernel name, but presently there is no uniformity in naming conventions so this won't work well. E.g. "Ak v704" vs "Pirates 704" or "Paranoid Android 3" vs "AOSPA 3.0".
How do you feel about turning the ROM and kernel questions into drop down menus, containing the 6-8 most popular ones plus an "other - please specify" entry, followed by an open entry version # question? For example:
"What ROM are you using?" (drop down menu selection)
"What version of the ROM? (open text box entry)
And the same structure for the kernel question.
I hope I'm making sense.

Re: Galaxy Nexus ROM / kernel combination comparison - Version 0.57
Great idea for tracking this stuff, but wasn't someone else already keeping a spreadsheet of this or was that solely just for ROMs? If so, it might be good to merge this data together to have one master document displaying this info. I've always wanted to track this myself because I'm a flashaholic, but never have time to do it.

Added question about Extended battery.

Yes, it makes sense and I was about to do that but the maintain of the ROMs would just be muuuuuch. So if you would like to help I would give you the permission and you can edit the form. Just write me a PM and we'll go ahead.

Don't know about such a document. If you find it please show it to me. The only one I know about is about colours.
Hmm... I don't know if I should go on with this thread. Could someone tell me his or her opinion?
Please could anyone give his or her opinion?
