Warning! Text messages being sent to wrong people

I was just curious as to how many people are experiencing this same problem. It happens on occasion and randomly rooted or not. I was just wondering how many of you out there are having the same issue? Only on the Evo? How often? How consistent? And if you have any fixes or ideas on what may be causing this? Its very frustrating. I have read on the Android site where this is a know issue but they didn't seem too worried about it. Any help or advice would be much obliged. Thanks in advance!

Happened to me once....bad instance too. Talking to a girl and it sent to my brother...well that didnt end well.

EDIT: If I'm not mistaken that bug has been fixed in 2.3.1 or 2.3.2...now just to wait for them to get the update to us.

You are correct. They closed the bug report and announced that the fix was being released two days ago. The post announcing the release also has links to the relevant patches. The announcement is here: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9392#c1620

Ive had this exact same problem a few times, and the first time i had an experience similar to Locoboi187's story..

Is this a firmware update or some other kind of update? This is annoying as all hell.

It used to happen to me a lot. I always delete all my messages after I write one just to avoid any issues.

It is an update by Google...we just have to wait for HTC to sense-ify it and release it to us. Or you can try a gingerbread rom.

You could try using handcent sms instead of the stock messaging app. That is suppose to also fix the problem.

Handcent almost got me shot by my girlfriend lol... sent a FB convo to a homie, while copying and pasting his name was on the thread the whole time. Sent the message and come to find out that the ENTIRE FB convo sent to my girl instead of my homie... Needless to say handcent sms has been REMOVED lol.

I just started using the app today, didn't have the time to test it yet.
can you please explain the reject methods? basically I don't want anyone calling me to get the filling I hung up - the hang up should be immediate.
I'll update later on my impression of the app, for now I can say I loved that it has so many options for defining block policies and defining white / black lists. most apps I've seen don't come with all those options.

I already tested that app last week. I didn't like it, that's all.

Outstanding issues have been fixed. Please update to 1.5.5 and let me know if your issues are solved. Its important we get some feedback guys!

I said what I thought. It's been long since I last used it, seeing there is an upgrade, will test it again tomorrow and post back.
Last time, as far as I could remember there was no difference between this app and the in built Samsung Call Blocker other than the name of this app

Why would you assume that? The people that need to know what Omega is already do.
Anyway - there have been a lot of upgrades, and this app has always been the best call blocker on android - built in or not!

I think i know about OMEGA - theres been plenty of talk over at 4pda

Just got a system update (2.001.01)

I just got an OTA update on my a100. I was a bit wary about taking an update, since I could find no information on it on the web, but I figured someone has to take a risk. The device downloaded 2.001.01 and installed it and my system went from Kernal 2.6.36.3 to 2.6.36.3+ and from build number Acer_A100_1.012.05_COM_GEN2 to Acer_a100_2.001.01_COM_GEN2
Other than that, I've noticed no changes, but I did not loose root, which was my main concern.
If this should be in the development section, let me know.
If anyone knows what changes were made in this update, or where I can get more information about it, I'd like to hear about it.

I hope I catch you in time, but I'm now not sure I kept root. Superuser app came up just fine, but now titanium backup is saying it can't get root. I'll have to investigate further, but it looks like I was wrong before and now I need to see if I can reroot. did iconiaroot ever get updated for a100?

if you are using the headphones and acer sync starts sound comes from both the headphones and the speakers

I don't use acer sync, so I can't really test that. I'm a bit more concerned about getting root back at the moment, but I might be able to check for you tomorrow, if no one gets to it in the meantime. Good luck.

Sorry I jumped the gun on the root call, I really thought superuser would have displayed some kind of error if I'd lost root, but I forgot to check Titanium. I've tried iconiaroot 1.3 and it didn't work, so i'm going to try the adb method. If that doesn't work, I'll just have to wait till someone who knows more about this stuff than me can make some progress.

HA! I fixed it!
I used a terminal emulater to run the root commands, THEN I ran iconiaroot 1.3 (which I assume just installed superuser.apk, since it wasn't able to get su on its own) and I'm rooted once again. I need to update superuser, busybox, reinstall adblock, and get rid of the bloat again, but then I'll be back to normal.
Here's the commands for the emulator btw, I got them from the "how to root" thread. If they don't work for you, try doing it the ADB way. (the best way is to open this page on your tablet,and cut and paste the lines (without the outside quotation marks) into the terminal emulator.)

Sorry guys, if I'd thought about it before I updated, I would have saved the update file to share with you. It didn't occur to me that some people wouldn't get it right away.
I don't see the update.zip in my sdcard, is there anywhere else they might have left a copy or is it gone after a successful update?

Looks like the issue with sound playing through speakers despite headphones being plugged in was finally addressed, thank god.

Woot! This is amazing. This was the only bug that was driving me nuts. Anytime that you plug in headphones before starting music/videos, it would play out of both. I am so happy this has been fixed.
I wonder why I haven't been prompted for the update yet.

I'd imagine it has something to do with them avoiding an "apple fail" as someone stated earlier. Probably rolling out the update to a select region to make sure their is no catastrophic behavior, or bogging down their servers. When I updated to IOS5 they didn't accomidate for the flood of people they received and I had a hard bricked device for just over 12 hours. SOFUN.

[SOLVED][Q] Camera freezing

I'm running CM10 nightlies for a while now my camera has been failing. Everytime I try to take a picture, after a couple of seconds, it just freezes. Has anyone had this and tried fixing it?
So turns out that Smart Stay is causing the problem because it is trying to access the camera the same time I am trying to use it. So to fix it I just added any app that uses the camera to the exception list option in smart stay. Finally an end to this annoying problem. (or is it? ...I really hope it is.)

I had the same problem until I switched to jelly bean jellybomb rom instead. Try it, u will love it

I'll definitely give it a try, but what about if I still want to use cm10? Has anyone had any progress fixing this problem or at least finding the source of it?

In the changelog for cm10 it says the next nightly will introduce a "Fix Ignore Keyevents", maybe, just maybe, that will help!

Many people do not have this problem. Are you sure its not something you installed?

I have odined back to stock, and wiped&&formatted everything possible. I did come across a thread (the link I have since lost) that mentioned something about possibly gapps causing the problem. Just know I had the idea that maybe because I am using JustinBean's inverted gapps there is a problem. I will investigate and see if that helps.

I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner. So even after the update, no change.. still freezing - GREAT! So then I started getting really aggrivated and started to uninstall apps that "Pimp My Rom" included, and I thought flash might be the culprit. And then it hit me, this is a camera problem right? Well then what app uses the camera? SMART STAY of course, and it made even more sense because it takes a sample at a certain interval and that explains that I am able to use the camera only for the short amount of time (always the same amount of time). So to fix the problem I just set in the exception list in smart stay an exception for any app that uses the camera. I really hope this is the fix I need. Thanks for your input guys!!

i fixed it on insert coins, i added missing files from the system dump

Glad to see you here already neo after being so late to the m8 party. [emoji106]

Man. Wish I knew how to build a ROM. Would totally share as well.

I had same issue on my ROM. Myself I just removed Verizon SSO apk an it causes zero issues an Verizon login has stopped is gone also.

Oh you know I'm waiting for adrenaline!

Yeah that's what I did in Adrenaline. Unfortunately, I wanted it working in this "stock" rom and thought dropping the odexed version of the apk back in would resolve and it didn't.

Do you still put easter eggs in your roms neo? Just curious. I remember you put a few in infection back when we had the rezound. Was fun finding them

Thanks. This base was rushed since I'm out of town for a week. I'm going to re-deodex the ruu and try again with the full deodex when I get back. The full deodex rom worked however had the same VZW sign in error at first boot.

Yeah that's what I'll end up doing when I get back with login.
I'm actually working on APM (or was rather). I'll finish it up when I get back. I'm porting lyapota's mod pack for vzw m9
I have plans for this device the next couple years. can't wait to get back on it when I get back June 1.
