Screen record function - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Any status update on this feature,I could really use it one of the main reasons I bought the device, that plus LTE will make this device simply PERFECT x !

Would love to see this feature too! What's the status?

Im lost, when you say screen record function, do you mean screencast (or the like) or soething else
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app

Its a feature on the Note 2 (Similar to Screencast, but for the Note 2),
You can record tutorials, and other stuff to show to other people. This feature is currently on the International Note 2.

don't think international has it either, but it was advertised. anybody has the feature?

I think this feature is controversial because of DMCA. As a result US Carrier Note 2's don't feature this and won't feature this for a while. If Samsung was so keen in putting this feature in the first place, they should have limited it to a few seconds or something.

I have to disagree because screen record shouldn't have anything to do with DMCA and I find it odd Samsung would advertise a feature that wasn't allowed in the USA. If so they should have mentioned it would not be accessible for our model, not to mention the DMCA existed before this feature was enacted so why lie about its availability if you know prior to release the limitations presented before you? I can still put my phone into debugging mode and connect to usb to show my screen on my computer then simply record the screen actions from there. This feature just made it easier.....hopefully we get an answer so we can deal with the answer I hate being ignored I've asked T-Mobile and Samsung and never get a straight answer it's always a bi reply
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2

I read somewhere that carriers were not allow to enable this feature on our Note 2's because of copyrighted issues. I know it doesn't make sense because our computers can screen-record as well. What Custom ROM has this feature? It sucks when Carriers eliminate features and / or charge for features when they come standard with the international version free-of-charge (for example; WiFi Tethering).

I meant the International Note 2 is suppose to have the Screen Recording function.
If not, I suggest using Screen-cast.

[Q] Would Galaxy S3 / T-Mobile be a good choice of smartphone for a power user?

I'm in the market for smartphones, and my biggest priorities are 4G and customization; I want to be able to SSH into my phone without having to root it, and I want to be able to rapidly deploy apps onto my phone without much hassle. Would the Galaxy S3 / T-Mobile be a good fit for me?
With regards to carriers and plans, would Unlimited Nationwide 4G be appropriate?
Yes.

Any particular reason?
On the Galaxy Note II, do I have to use the pen, or can I also use my fingers?
I'm considering the Note 2 right now as well, just for the bigger screen and crazy good battery life. Actually prob going to switch to Verizon just to get the LTE and more consistent coverage as well. You don't have to use the S Pen, but it looks like it could be fun and maybe even come in handy from time to time.
The S3 is still a powerhouse and can handle anything you throw at it, the battery just probably won't last you a full day of HEAVY usage, but if you're a multitasker, I'd suggest rooting and flashing the AOKP ROM(or something similar), just because of the 8 Lockscreen shortcuts, 7 nav bar shortcuts, which I set up to basically be my "persistent" dock (which also have addtl shortcut options for long pressing), and also up to 5 nav bar shortcut sliders. Any shortcut can also be set up to launch an activity, so you can create a shortcut to compose a new email, SMS, or calendar event for example. I have my Phone/dialer shortcut setup to where if I long press it, it launches Google voice. It's a pretty sweet setup, that I'm not looking forward to giving up, if we don't ever get around Verizon's locked boot loader.
I think if you're a power user looking for a battery that will last all day, and can get used to the size, go with the Note 2. If the note is too big for you and you don't mind throwing it on a charger at some point, and you just want a beast of a phone...the S3 will be perfect for you. Been with T-Mobile for over 10 years and they are awesome, the customer service is great, plans are cheap, their coverage just isn't the best. That's the only reason I'm considering switching.

Yes you can use your fingers the spen is just a plus . The note 2 is an absolute powerhouse and its future proof with a quad core and 2GB of ram. You will be better of getting a note 2 or at least a nexus 4
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
The Note II is a very sexy and power-hungry smartphone.
It's has the latest technology, and will serve any user well for at least two years.
The SGS3 is still Samsung's flagship and although it doesn't come with the quad-core Exynos (US Variants) it's still a very viable option.
Quite honestly, you can't go wrong either way. Just bear in mind the screen of the Note II. I got to hold one next to my GSG3 today and it's a very noticeable difference to me.
If you want the latest updates, continual support from devs (the Nexus One STILL gets updates) then go with the Nexus 4. Bear in mind the things that you are giving up with the Nexus 4 (sd cards, removable battery)
All in all, the SGS3 will serve your needs. It's fast, beautifully designed, and has a very strong community of devs behind it that will surely stay for years to come.

More comfortable?

So the Samsung guy paid a visit and brought the AT&T version of the S4 with him...my question is: Is this better than our Note 2? I don't mean internally or as far as screen. It does everything the Note can do and more without need of a stylus AND has Multi-Window, all in a smaller package. Is this the ultimate device in terms of power AND comfort? I, like many, have that nagging obsession of buying everything that comes out...so I will get it. How about you? Would u switch because of the S4's much smaller size?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
The main reason I bought the note was the size. Would never get another phone simple for a smaller size.
So anything below 5.5" is too small? My S3 feels tiny in my hand after using my Note and the fact that everything is smaller on the screen doesn't help either. I wonder how much of a difference it'll be between the Note screen and S4 in everyday use.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I would stay with the note, mostly because I'm used to it now lol. But I would go to the s4 mostly because of 4.2.2 on it

Note 2 w/ Galaxy S4 Features

What features can we possibility get from the Samsung Galaxy 4 on the Note 2? I know we cant get infrared. Maybe dual camera or dual recording from a custom rom.

Obviously not anything hardware dependent like infrared but dual camera, S-Translator, airview with your finger, eye scrolling and all that neat stuff.

Air view with finger may be hardware. The way Sony did touchless touchscreen was with a super sensitive capacitive matrix so samsung may have done something similar.
I have no idea how they did it, just trying to ensure expectations are realistic lol.

Maybe it's just me but I don't see much of a need for Air View with the finger since we have that with the S Pen. I just think it would make more sense on the S series devices instead of the Note devices.

Doubt that. The ir blaster is located at the top of the phone (along side the 3.5 mm headphone jack). Unless there's another one along side the standard sensors on the face of the phone.
Anyway, a "feature" I'd like to see ported is 4.2.2. I can't wait to get my hands on that project butter.
Also, the camera, music player, photo gallery and video gallery all seem prime for porting.
A feature I don't want ported is that crazy settings menu with tabs and settings all over the place like some kind of settings-bomb went of and blew settings-pieces all over the place.

Even if one of our gorgeous developers can extract these features as an application.

Vivo xplay - a very strong GN2 contender?

http://tpt.to/a3s1PzN
Hardware specs wise is superb, physically slimmer, doesn't look too much bigger to hold, design appearance ain't that bad either. Loving the 13mp camera. But one thing I'm really interested in is the 'free touch' feature. Really practical and innovative! Anybody able to develop a similar app for note 2? This phone sounds like a level up of every note 2 feature.

Best posted in the comparison thread with every other phone that is a contender.

Didn't know there was such a thread.but my main point is asking if the free touch feature can be ported over. Thanks for informing!
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
Nah the thread is fine. I don't like the one thread for everything idea tbh.
As for OP - just pure specs mean nearly nothing - just like LG Optimus G Pro IMHO. Dev support, upgrades etc. are also important. There might be devices with better specs than Note II. IMO Note II checks all the right boxes - that hardly any other devices do.
As for the feature, don't even know how it works. Or how it could even be ported.

Ok, thanks again for directing me to the proper thread. Now I want the G2, the Galaxy Mega, or the Note III. Why the G2? It's the 4G advanced S4. The Mega.... well obviously I'm the type that can't afford to have a tablet and a phone simply because bills and no wifi atm.... The Note III I don't know I like it due to I loved the 2. What can be a deal breaker if there is no 2.5/6ghz (Clearwire LTE) connectivity, or no 800 lte. The Mega has mid-range specs compared to all phones listed above, its a bigger less powerful S4, not a phone I want to be with two years from now so I'll be fine with either the G2 or the Note III (depending on the LTE bands it supports)

CDMA1X, EV-DO, GSM, W-CDMA, and LTE all share the same transmit path, thus no SVDO nor SVLTE. Meh didnt care for it too much, it was nice when i had LTE when I was on the phone
