I'm not rooted...yet. But the problem that I am encountering is everytime I wake up my phone and unlock it, it goes to the last screen I was on or app. Its a minor problem but is there anyway to set it to always awake up to my primary homescreen. I'm on Nova Launcher if that helps.
Do you have any other apps that have anything to do with the lockscreen?
Do you go to the last screen if you wake the phone by pressing the home button and then unlocking?
The reason I ask is that if I have no lock screen and I wake the my Note II by pressing the home button I go directly home. If I wake the phone with the power button I go to the last app I was using.
This does not happen however if I have the lock screen enabled. I am then always taken to the last app. Never the home page.
Update 20130201
Since updating to 4.1.2 the home button now behaves how I want it to. It takes me to the last app or screen that was open. It does this even if i do not use a lockscreen

Nope I recently got this phone, the only major would be the Nova launcher.
Yes regardless if I used the power or home button, if I was looking at my settings it will unlock to that. I've even tried removing the lockscreen and I still have the same issue.
my only suggestion is to look for a lock screen replacement app that lets you choose any application to start whith the right "swipe"...then assign the launcher to one of the icons...I know that Apex has a widget that will "launch" it - i.e. take it to the home screen! Now all you have to do is invoke that kind of a thing in the same way you can go into messaging or email from the lockscreen...
I know for a fact that widgetlocker has an option to unlock to the last page or app you were on or unlock straight to your home screen.

Is there either an app to completely eliminate the lock screen?
I'm running CM and there is an option to unlock by pressing Power>Menu or through gestures but either way that's an additional step - just like my rotary unlock.
There's an app in Market called No Lock that does the same thing.
What I want is just press Power and I'm at the home screen. No 2nd buttons, no Menu button, no sliding, no gestures.
And since I know this question will come up, no I'm not concerned about dialing or anything else, capacitive buttons/screen, remember?
Plus I have a case that bevels over the Power and Volume buttons so... yeah...
Thanks!

Hey man, its already built into CM. One of the options for the Notification Power Widgets is to Toggle the Lockscreen. Just set Toggle Lockscreen as one of your widgets in the CM settings, and click it and you can completely turn your lockscreen on and off.

Wow, how'd I miss that..?
But I see it allows you to turn the phone on w/ the volume buttons too... That's not good b/c I usually switch tracks w/ the volume buttons when the phone is in my pocket or when I'm driving - especially when I'm driving.
Any way to only let the power button turn the phone on?

I'm sure that you know this as you are a much more senior member but unrevoked will take care of that for you.
I used 3 on mine with the same hardware and hboot and it worked like a charm.
there is an app called No Lock that will do this for you.
No Lock works great...

Ye.. I said in the OP that I know about No Lock. The problem with no lock is that, just like the CM no lock option, it allows the phone to be woken up by the volume buttons too. Something that's a major deal beaker for me.
SUPERSONIC via xda app
Auto Unlock. Only the power button wakes the phone. Sometimes, you will see the lock screen flash on before it's dismissed.

Hello,
I've been using my new note 2 for two weeks now.. and I like it so much
I also used sgs2 and 3 before.
I'm not new to android.. I flashed roms, know every single setting in the device, rooted my sgs2 and tried lots of apps to customize them.
Regarding my issue, I like to set my device to none screen security because I always manually lock it with a press on the lock screen button after I do whatever I want to do with it, and to unlock I always press Home button to get back to where I was immediately without the need to swipe the lock screen.
The problem is when I lock it and there is an app running and then press the home button the screen goes to home default screen and do not just unlock the screen and keep it there where I was last, this was not the case with my sgs2 or sgs3.
If I press the lock screen button instead it does what I want but I prefer to use home button because its much easier.
Its not a big issue but its annoying sometimes because sometimes I get popup notification windows while the phone is locked (whatsapp for example) and I press the home button to see it and instead of just turning on the screen to see the window it goes back to home screen and the popup is gone, or in cases where I'am writing an email or reading something and meanwhile talking to somebody, if the screen gets locked, If I press the home button everything is gone. So I have to switch tasks to open my activity again.
I don't know if this is a jellybean issue or hardware (homebutton).
I know its not a big deal but I would appreciate if somebody can help get around this

It seems to be a jellybean feature no way around unless a mod comes out...
All jellybean roms in Note I had this feature and i remember seeing this thing on SGS III jellybean too
Just install the S Voice app , "voicetalk_NLI.apk".
In S Voice, set "double click active S Voice" will fix the issue.
This actually worked! Thanks
But the problem is that i use another app (home2) to control home button which makes me able to control what app runs when double clicking home or even use a combination of home with back or menu.
Its a very good app if you want to try it.
This leaves me with trying to deal with my original issue tho or just return to old factory setting

edit. There's one slight problem, now it lags a bit to return back to the home screen..
HELP PLEASE SOMEONE! :crying::crying:
My ROGERS Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE SGH-i747M running Jelly Bean 4.1.1 has a lock screen bug! I have been googling around the web, but still couldnt find anyone with the bug I am having right now, so i am asking for someone to plz help me out here! The bug just started today, my phone is set to "Swipe" mode on the lock screen, so usually I would just need to swipe my screen to unlock my phone, but today, when i press my power button OR home button, my phone turned on, and showed my lock screen for 1 second, and it unlocked by itself. I didnt have to swipe or anything, all i did was pressed my power button OR home button, and it unlocked by itself. I know this is just a minor problem, but it is so annoying! I am sorry if i dont make any sense, because its hard to explain the situation I am having, but plzzz someone help me out here!
Thanks!!!

Goto settings >security and check what they are set at under lock screen. Less security than swipe is none, which means once it wakes up you are on the home screen.

But the problem i am having is that, mine is set at "Swipe", and before the bug happened, i can swipe my screen and unlock, but now, all i have to do is just turn on the screen with power or home button and my lock screen wall paper will show up and then half a second after, it will unlock to my home screen by itself, and it wont let me swipe.
The above bug happens to me sometimes. I then switched to using a pattern on my lock screen.
If I leave the phone unattended sometimes for a few hours, when I "wake" it, it reverts to a "swipe" to unlock instead of my pattern of password that was set. My phone is stock 4.1.1 and not rooted.

the very same thing happened to me today. i deleted the main widget lockscreen and tried to re-add it but it wouldn't fix anything,
my solution was to boot into recovery and wipe "cache" and "dalvik cache"
this returned my lockscreen back to normal.
I have cm11 and if i power on the tablet and let it a couple of minutes it is freezed at the lock screen. I cant unlock it by swiping the screen and i cant press on the clock widget. If i press the power button it turns on or off the lock screen but i can still do nothing. Only way to restore it is to keep pressed the power button to hard reset the tab. It boots normally then if i unlock the screen and dont let it auto lock. Is anybody else experiencing this issue? It gets really annoying. Could it be the nova launcher because i cant remember this happening before installing it.

yep, i disabled the option from nova settings to autolock the desktop and that seemed to fix it. This option prevents any changes to desktop and it looks like that it conflicted with cm11
