[Q]Downloading Roms over WiFi? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Who here downloads Roms over WiFi? Do you run into any issues doing so?
I'm trying to narrow down why my data/efs partition corrupted on my old S3. Trying to also be sure that I don't do the same to my N2.
If interested on what happened to my GS3 go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37225521

Decommissioned Epic ROM

I just upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S3 but my epic would be a wonderful wifi internet device for my niece. The problem is that I need the ROM to have no drivers for the cellular radio so 911 operators can have a rest haha is there a rom or way to do this? It would save battery power and stop searching for a signal that has been shut off. This phone is still a great camera, music device, ect. Please help me.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
you could just delete the phone app using rom toolbox titanium backup ect... and go the extra mile and delete the messaging app.
Would the phone then stop searching for signal and using most of the battery searching for a signal? Or is that hardware/modem firmware based?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Couldn't you just toggle mobile data off?
Yes but then I'd lose the internet via wifi functionality and video or music streaming functionality, as well as blue tooth for audio and remote control. We can turn the epic into a non cellular computer like it is on a non cellular tablet.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Even with mobile data off the phone uses a lot of power searching for signal.

Nope not unless there is actually a rom to download here it doesn't belong in development... only actual development belongs in development...

Legal?! I bought this piece of equipment, I'm free to do with it as I please. Especially when it involves only my home network.

Why does my wifi keep turning on automatically?

Is anyone else experiencing this? I have the sprint version. It also pops up a box which tries to make me turn on the wifi hot spot.
Any fixes?

Sprint connection optimizer in settings.
Disable it.

Nope. ****n pain in the ass. First thing deleted when i flash a stock based rom. Thinkin its a major culprit in peoples tether problems as well since it ****s wit the wifi when the phones plugged in/unplugged, screen off, etc. just my 2 cents

How would I flash an att ROM for my tmo gs3

So the title says it all, I have a T-Mobile gs3 that is unlocked running on Att. How do I go about flashing att Roms to this phone, I've read many places its possible and I've never been steered wrong by xda so help me out?

You really don't need to. Its the same thing. Just keep a tmo ROM on. It will still work. If anything flash a radio. I know on galaxy s 2 radios are compatible. Not sure about the s3 since the att version has lte.

Sprint Visual VM.

I can't for the life of me remember if it came on the note 2 or not. I just know I don't have VM lol. If it did can someone pull the .apk for me and post it. Thanks

It definitely does come with it. Until Google voice is more reliable and Sprint also when it comes to data speed I will use Sprint vvm which is not so bad. I actually like the features. Hope the apk worked for you. If your still stock with no root and don't have vvm check the Sprint zone app to try to install it. If not I'd take it in. I think it comes with all note 2.

Is anyone else going on hold off on rooting, installing custom recoveries and roms because they lost their imei on the s3? I know I am.

Eh. Rooted. Wasn't going to right away...
But so much bloat to freeze/remove...
As for flashing...Not yet

I was gonna hold off on rooting, but I gave in today. as for ROMS, I'm jumping on them as soon as they become available

Planning on holding off a week or 2 just to get the full experience.
It makes installing a good rom, that much better!

I will be holding off as well. I'm kinda satisfied at the moment with what Samsung has provided. I don't like the bloat and I miss my root apps. But I think I'll be just fine for a month or so.

With the 2GB of ram is the bloatware still slowing the phone down.

Been waiting on my sd card from amazon that arrived today. I'm trying to hold off rooting until TWRP is ready.
I'm amazed I've lasted this long without rooting, but like others above I'm holding out until I can 'fully experience' the stock software Samsung tossed out there. I didn't want to drop 600+ on a new phone and not at least give the new stuff a try!

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. I was under the impression that the only way you could get a bad imei is if the phone was lost or stollen.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 2
Well back when the s3 originally came out we had a bunch of people randomly lose their imei. I would show up as just 0. And there was no efs folder to back up because it no longer contained imei.
