[Q] Revert back to ICS from stock JB - HTC One X

Hi all,
I ran into a strange situation, and I need help.
I was using AOKP JB 4.2.1 on my HOX, but before I flashed it, I made a nandroid backup from my original rooted stock JB, of course.
Two days ago I wanted to use this backup and flash my rooted stock JB again, but CWM gave an error message (md5 is wrong) so I was not able to revert back to this nandroid backup.
I have several nandroid backups, but they are my previous ICS roms. After updateing my stock ICS to stock JB over OTA, my HBOOT changed of course.
Am I able to flash one of my older ICS backups, and then upgrade it again to JB with OTA?
Thanks for your help!

Sure. Remember boot.img!

And the stock recovery .....

I did the same thing myself yesterday - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2119166
Read Clyde's tutorial in the Development thread.
Get the ICS 2.17 recovery.
Follow the tutorial.
Remember to lock your bootloader before installing the update!
Good luck!

No with a stock backup you do not have to lock the bootloader !

[Q] Flashing back to stock for a clean official At&t jellybean update

I just flashed my at&t GS3 to Cyanogens Cm10 m2 using clockworkmod and am wondering what the procedure to flash back to stock is, so as to receive the official JB update from at&t whenever that may be.
I made a back up of my stock rom in clockworkmod but what if a user did not make a backup of the stock rom?
Thanks

The following thread has a section that explains with YouTube video demonstrations how to unroot and return to stock ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728824
I am not entirely sure if I followed that particular instructions video or another, but in summary I downloaded the Stock ICS ROM which can be found in a thread somewhere around here in XDA, then I downloaded ODIN (also can be found on XDA) and used it to flash the Stock ICS ROM through it after having booted the phone into Download Mode and connected it. Check the thread and see if the instructions are similar to what I just described.
I know with my last phone (skyrocket aka i727) you can oden the stock firmware from sammobile with original recovery without triggering the flash counter.
Does this work with the s3?

Yes as long as it is the OEM rom.

[Q] return to stock after flashing AR HD 15 with JBFW-TOOL

Hello community,
at first i am sorry for my bad english.
I flashed my one x (CID_HTC102) with the JBFW-Tool to Android Revolution HD 15. Everything worked fine. I now want to return to stock and i have no idea how to get this done
I found following in the forum:

No, there is no stock JB update for HTC__001 as yet. This tool will only flash a leaked JB hboot which will allow you to flash to a custom JB rom. If you want to get the official JB OTA you will need to revert to a stock rom, with stock boot and recovery and wait for the updates to be pushed to your device.

How to revert back to ICS to receive OTA Updates

[Q] Upgrading from ICS to JB

Hi guys.
Today I finally received an OTA upgrade from ICS to JB Android. I made a backup, then from settings i let system to update my ROM. It's going good so far, but when it's rebooting, it's going to recovery where the process is stopped. I have unlocked bootloader and rooted my HOX, but still i have a stock ROM. I tried to toggle off checking signatures in cwm but with no result. What can I do to keep root and upgrade to JB?
Thanks.
1. Stock ROM
2. Stock kernel
3. Stock recovery
Make sure you haven't removed system apps. Root doesn't matter.

And make sure to put back the stock recovery

You can root again by flashing your custom recovery AFTER updating to JB.
http://androidsu.com/superuser/
So, at start I have to flash stock recovery. Have I to relock the bootloader? Then I'll update to JB. Of course I want to root, so just flash custom recovery and su? Thanks in advance
Make sure the rom is stock, then flash the STOCK recovery and update the phone, then flash a custom recovery back and root the JB rom again. No need to lock the bootloader !
You must mean stock recovery correct?

You downloaded my stock recovery and renamed it to recovery.img ?
Recovery from a nandroid is never a stock one, a nandroid backup can only be done with a custom one
Uuuups, what a mistake Thanks! I'll try to flash yours one.

do not double post.
you are currently ON the latest stock firmware for your device. are you wanting to install a custom ROM to get a newer (4.2.2) release?
you can use Rom Manager to update your recovery. once thats done, if you havent done so yet, boot into recovery and make a nandroid (backup). you may need it down the road.
yes!
Yes I want to know how i can update my 4.1.1 once the newer Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update is available.
i have made a nandroid back and i also made a titantiam backup..
is there a newer version of CWM for my phone??rom manager says no.

The 4.2.2 custom roms are located in the Original Android Development section. There is no 4.2.2 update from samsung. Look them over and read up on the flashing process. The link in my signature has some good information.

Thanks alot. Just what i wanted
Actually i have just thought about this and it does not include the zip. So this will not do the job.
Stock modules are in the stock nandroid (or ruu) these stock boot.img files fit the stock HTC modules. Modules are restored when a stock nandroid backup is restored
The stock 3.20.401 from Mike's thread is fully stock only in a custom rom install way. Only thing after the rom install that is not stock is the recovery.
So basically ive got to restore a Nandroid backup to do this?
Actually im guessing what you really want, you ask for the latest stock kernel. What's your goal with that ?
A custom rom has in 99% a tweaked kernel. A nandroid backup has stock modules + boot.img
So maybe you can point out what your goal is and i can give you the answer to that
Currently i am on Stock rom which is rooted. I basically want the phone in shape ready to receive any OTA that might come out in the near future. Im keeping root with the voodoo rootkeeper.
Ah oke and you flashed a custom kernel on it ?
Yeah i flashed the Tegra 4 one. Gotta say really good kernel, slightly disliked what it did to the screen though.
The easiest way to go back to full stock (modules + kernel) is indeed to restore the stock nandroid. Then its all stock, flash the stock recovery and you are also able to update official ota's (like upcoming sense 5)
Okay thanks a lot for that. Can't wait for that Sense 5 beauty, tried it on the One and certainly an improvement on the very good Sense 4.
Well i used an old Nandroid i had 3.14 software, factory reset, dalvik, then restored the nandroid. The Nandroid restored well except i was left with the kernel. Good thing is though the OTA still works as there is an update to 3.20
Ahhhh false alarm sorry. Me not thinking straight. -_-
The boot.img doesn't flash its self :L
Lol....solved ?
Yeah everything is good now thanks
Good
