[Q] Camera and Video Recording app - Galaxy Ace S5830 Themes and Apps

I'm using CM10.1 PRO (RC0 version), but I have a problem~
I used to use QuickPic as gallery app, so when i install it in CM10.1, I see that have two gallery apps (QuickPic and stock gallery) is not necessary, so I uninstall the stock one.
All fine here, but what is my surprise when i discover that there isn't camera app in the rom, and that the stock camera is from the gallery2.apk
So now I'm searching for a camera app with no much size (no more than 5Mb) that has the feature of take photos (of course), record videos, and, if it's possible, use the flashlight.
In my search I found Vignette (only 156Kb) that takes photos and use the flashlight, but doesn't record
So, xda, I NEED YOUR HELP

if i am not wrong, you need to keep gallery2.apk app because that app is integrated with camera(as said by developers).
try Cameraics.its light weight app(about 3mb) and has everything like camera, camcorder and panorama working

HTC sense1 Camera app to Sense3 HD Rom

Hello!
Today I wanted to switch the camera app to the Camera app in Sense1 (froyo edition). Actually the Camera and Camcorder start without problem and all the settings are working. But when I press the trackpad to shoot the image the program force closes.(process.android.camera or something like this)
Do I need to change other files too? The sense1 version would be great because there's a constant noise under the recorded movie in sense3 app.
By the way I'm using RCmix and want to revert the camera app to the one that was in froyo. Thanks for the help
I forgot to mention that the Froyo version Camera app saves the image/recording that I made and it's great quality, however, there's te force close after each shoot
Sadly the Camera app is woven well in to the sense framework.... it would take ALOT of reworking to get it to work... its not as easy as dragging and dropping a few files
you could try copying the lib file over from the sense rom... it /system/lib/libcamera.so
i some what doubt it will work mind

What do you expect? Even Samsung said ICS was too heavy for our phone! Arco68 is working great to give us the taste of JB, so don't ask about improving camera at least it works. If you want a fully working Camera go back to Stock/GB it is originally made by Samsung so everything works.

Aye, arco has done awesome job.
So be happy, that there are atleast some customs ROMs.
the only good thing that all stock cams (GB/ICS) r good for is video filming, otherwise ull have to surf ur play store to find the cam app that fulfills ur needs (its variable according to the kind of pics u want "super fast capture or super hd clarity or super effects")
press thanks if i help you
oic... tq for replying. how about the app in play store ?
I would just download another camera app but I found the ICS camera to be alright really otherwise ICS camera+ works pretty well.

Kitkat Gallery and Camera (Android 4.4)

After I just saw, that KitKat's AOSP Gallery is supposed to feature an awesome photo editor
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOs0vLY6FvA
I tried to install the Nexus 5 Camera and Gallery APKs.
Camera: http://goo.gl/VEBuiq
Gallery: http://goo.gl/a2QHTA
Interesting enough, camera and gallery are now separate APKs. I was running the 4.3 versions before, but had to hack the camera so it runs on my i9305, and system libs filtershow_filters, mosaic, and lightcycle were required.
These APKs seem to run without root (?), and I was just able to install them like any other regular APK. I'm not sure though if that would be the case if I hadn't the 4.3 versions installed before.
Bugs:
- Gallery's photo editor FCs (damn)
- Camera's photo sphere does not work in portrait mode (but is fine in landscape)
Improvements:
- Camera's flash finally flashes at the same time the picture is taken. ^^
Questions:
- Is it true that camera and gallery are working out of the box without the need to root and push .so files to /system/lib?
- Can anyone bring the gallery's photo editor to life?
I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE (i9305) with rooted stock Android 4.1 and Nexus 4 camera / gallery working before.

Camera still requires libs. You can download it here and copy it to /system/lib (chmod 644). Gallery editor still not working. If anyone knows how to make it work, do update. Thanks.
i9300, SlimBean 4.2.2: Taking Photos, Photosphere (Portrait and Landscape) works (including libs from x86phre3x)
Viewing Photosphere is only possible as photo, the photosphere button shows no reaction
I hope you find a fix for Camera's photo sphere in portrait mode soon

installable apk needed
Hi,
If possible can u make this flashable zip as installable apk?
moreover does this install as additional camera or replace the stock.
can I try this in stock 4.3 version?
I have flashed the zip on my 4.3 stock and all works fine but panorama doesnt work.
When i switch to panorma the screen stays black, but it make the panorma picture and save it. The picture self is ok.
Is there a apk with working panorama that i see it on the screen?

[Q] Xperia M video/still camera questions (blueish tint)

Greetings, Xperia M, Build 15.1.C.2.8, Half-rooted (unable to do the full root, I don't know why so I can't do the RW thing)
Like most of you have probably noticed, the stock camera firmware has a bluish tint problem. The camera works great in the daytime, really good actually. But doing some camera app testing in a darkened atmosphere I took some pics in my bedroom with the flash, and the pics look really BLUE. My walls aren't blue, they are yellow haha. After testing with other android camera apps such as ProCapture, the pics look as they should (no blue walls). So it's obvious that it is the stock sony camera firmware that is at fault since other camera apps make the pics look normal.
So saying this I went ahead and froze (disabled) the stock camera app so I could launch ProCapture with the hardware shutter button. But now I have no video recording app ugh. So two-fold question please:
1) Is there a way to make our hardware shutter button open up a different camera app such as ProCapture? If so, how please? (Like mentioned above I was only able to half-root it, the full root instructions just haven't worked for me no matter how many times I tried)
2) If not, and I do have to disable the stock camera app so I can launch ProCapture with the hardware button, can you recommend me what video recording app I can install that can takeover just video recording duties? I think it would need to be for video recording only otherwise I may run into problems with the hardware shutter button again. It has been remarkably hard to find a video recording app on the app store! I have no idea why this is.
Thanks much for your help. BTW, I like the phone. For the price, I think it's really good. And more importantly, the size and shape fits me perfectly :fingers-crossed:
For your 1st question.... I'm not really sure on the x m but when I was still using an mtk phone I was able to change the camera button to open any app I want in android.policy.jar or was it framework.jar (cant recall).. Cant remember which smali it was but I stumbled on it via search for text using notepad++ ... I searched for com.android.gallery in our Xperia case you should search for semc.android.camera (not sure if thats the correct package name for the stock camera app) and change it with the package name of the camera app or whatevar app you want the camera button to launch

try this lg camera : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1677645
Thanks for the replies. As far as LGCamera goes, it seems to not have been updated in almost two years so I left that one alone. Did find an app called "A Better Camera" which also has video recording in it. So I disabled the stock camera and have just been using A Better Camera and it also launches from the hardware button. Better pics too in the dark with the flash. At least my yellow walls aren't blue
Edit: Okay, I have found a way to be able to launch a third party camera from the hardware button WITHOUT freezing (totally disabling) the stock camera app. This then will allow you to use a third-party camera app such as ProCapture etc (that don't have a built in video recorder), allow you to switch between the third-party app and the stock video recorder, but then also launch the third-party app using the hardware shutter button. In other words, the best of all solutions.
You need to at least half-root the Xperia-M (many threads found here how to do that) then get the AutoStarts app from the play store: (not allowed to post links yet). Just search AutoStarts from Michael Elsdörfer
Once you start AutoStarts, scroll down and find "Camera Button Pressed". Select Disable for all the cameras EXCEPT the one you want to use the hardware button for. You're done now. All the camera apps that you selected disable for will still work when using their icons, the one you didn't disable will be the one that starts with the hardware shutter button.
Note: I also tried the app "Default App Manager Pro" and set ProCapture as the default camera. But that didn't do anything, no effect on the hardware shutter button (still opened the stock camera). So far the AutoStarts method is the only one that has worked for me.

CAMERA FIX!! no focus or flash issue what so ever; With this camera apk

HI everybody,
K this camera apk was pulled from the MIUI rom port while doing extensive testing of the rom it's self just to see how the rom did. While doing this I noted with the camera all issues we have on the cm and nexus based roms are non existent on the MIUI camera, but the camera does have issues.
1. It has two issues one when it takes a photo's with the rear facing camera it saves it upside down for some reason
2. second issue i found is when you go to the front facing camera it glitches in the transition and you half to close it out and restart and then it'll be on the front facing camera and you half to do the same to get back to the rear facing camera NOTE: the front facing camera does not flip the image
Now initially I thought this might of been the miui rom its self so I grabbed the camera apk and jumped to the Nexus rom and IT WORKS. I currently use this camera as my daily driver despite its issues and even though I have purchased the Snap Camera, I just prefer the MIUI camera...
I would note I ran a search on the camera apk files name and found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/find-7/development/mod-oppocamera-settings-timer-scene-t3003030 I tried the zips they have and they don't seem to work on our phone.
Also I did not know who to credit for this. I'm sorry for that; if some one know's who pm me or comment. Thanks
personally i find 'BlueCam' delivers better photos than the MIUI, the only features that don't work is manual focus but the auto focus does a fine job and it has torch mode to take care of night photos which gets over the flash problem, its also free on the app store.

true that, I'm thinking it should be very possible for an app to utilize an existing camera app to take the picture and then parse it, if background elements are an issue a crop tool can be built it. I'll look into it after this coming week and see if i can come up with something. Won't be perfect but it'll be better than nothing

That's what I'm getting at, if its possible to read from an image then it should be possible to have your camera take a snap shot, save it has an ordinary image and then have an app interpret it. At least in theory, I don't know how feasable it is yet
I use this camera app from f-droid app store its free and open source and also works well with flash
https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdfilter=camera&fdid=com.simplemobiletools.camera
Tried it with latest lineage os by ggow. Focus is fast and pictures are coming up great. There is no manual controls but this app is better than stock or Google camera app in my opinion anyway. Camera button also works to activate this app and to take snaps with. Developer also has gallery app in f-droid if you want to give it a spin.

The camera from F-droid is very limited and it does not work with flash. It works in a sense that flash can be permanently turned on and used as a light. The oppo camera however seems to work correctly. The only problem I encountered is switching between front and rear camera. Seems like usable camera to use when you need flash support. Otherwise open camera app is good and full featured app.

I find oppo camera good but pictures for not known reason turn out upside down - I really don't fancy switching them back manually.
Another good app is camera HDR. As mentioned in CyanogenMod description it just work well.
thanks. really nice. flash light photos works fine.
