No kernel isn't enough for ics+ I think.
Just look for toolkit in development section.

There is a method called cf auto root....could anyone help me understand that pleaseeeee

No
Flashing kernel won't work on note 2
In note1 and other device there is recovery binded to kernel so it was possible, here recovery have separate partition.
Read post#2 of thread linked to first line of my signature.

Nothing more
Flash cf auto root and flash with Odin for pda tab. And done.
Though you need to reset counter if you want to keep device ready to claim warranty.

i believe that method is for GT-N7100 models only. You should check the Other GN2 section

Depending on the root method there will never be a fix for this as the official OTA will only work on fully stock recovery and roms

Hi there, thanks for the help. I tried it and it failed. I also tried mskip's note2 all in one toolkit. It would only work on android v4.1.1, I have the latest ota for v4.1.2. I was going to look at devs thread to see if anyone else has had this same problem. Thanks again.

Always flash roms for your model not your carrier

Do not attempt the N7100 roms...
You "will" brick your device...
Only roms located in the development section for the SGH I317, 317M, 7105, 889...
And only then when the OP clearly states a compatible build with "your" device...
And might I suggest that you run backups of your EFS folder...as an insurance policy should you have any issues later...
Also a good backup of your stock rom...that includes all device partitions...
Happy flashing...g

I believe, unless I miss understand, he has a n7100 device. In that case he will need to flash n7100 device ROMs.

Hey all!
This will allow titanium backup and other apps to write to external sdcard. I have used this on the Nordic release of Touchwiz Kitkat. It appears this is an issue with all Samsung kitkat stock roms.
This is not my fix but I did find it
please thank the OP at the following link for finding the answer.
