unlocked AT&T Galaxy S3 and 3G netwrok in Thailand - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi
I just moved to Thailand. I have an unlocked AT&T Galaxy S3 phone and it's working okay here with a Thai simcard to call and and use 2G network here but I can't get 3G to work. Any suggestions on what needs to be done to make the phone fully functional here?
Thanks

[Q] LTE SIM inserted, but "Insert SIM Card to access Data Services" message shows
Hi,
I'm in the Philippines. I bought a Note N7105 last week (not from my provider) and installed 4.1.2 with baseband N7105DXDLL1. All good until a few days ago I received my LTE card from GLOBE Telcom.
Now I have a problem. I can make calls and send SMS using the card but when I try to enable data services it tells me "Insert SIM Card to access Data Services", and will not enable data or let me see anything under "Mobile Networks".
I have tried a different Globe LTE SIM card (my son's) and the same thing happens.
If I put this LTE SIM into my Galaxy S II (Baseband = I9100XXLPX), it runs fine (but 3G of course). So it's not a faulty SIM card.
I was wondering if the problem might be the modem ? Any ideas ?
Globe runs LTE Band 1800
thanks
Could it be the modem ?

Have you try changing network mode under settings - wireless (more) - mobile network - network mode
If you set it to utms/wcdma doest it works?
(Sorry I just assuming and here in India we don't have lte and never seen menu of mobile network in lte version)

When the SIM is inserted, the whole mobile settings menu becomes unavailable, because the phone thinks no SIM is inserted (even though calls and SMS works).
UtkarshGupta suggests its the APN not the modem so I'll look into that too.
For now, I have a new problem - the SIM slot is broken, due to using one of those stupid Nano adapters, because my provider does not have micro SIMs. So until I get that replaced, I can't try anything !

Hi
I'm from the philippines just as you. I'm also using globe's LTE and recently have bought a note 2 (N7105). My note 2 works perfectly. But a few days ago, my friend who was interested in getting the same phone that I have, decided to buy one. We went to the same store hot gadgets to buy another phone exactly like mine N7105. We encountered the same problem as you. All other simcards would work except for my Globe LTE sim. It seems like its a new batch of note 2s from their supplier abroad. What i noticed about the new batch that arrived is that it was previously locked to a foreign network and just unlocked. the box also has a "cityzi" logo which is a carrier in france. the seller claims that all their units are locked and just unlocked.
but i believe that the batch i got was factory unlocked in the first place because there is no logo on the box and no logo when starting up and turning off the phone.
I have a feeling that it may be a firmware related problem. what i would like to ask if you have tried updating the phone to the current DMC3 firmware. you can read up about it.
there is a forum on tipid cp on n7105 sadly im just a new user on xda so i cant post the link. just search for it.
if you check sammobile.com there is an n7105 firmware for the philippines. im not sure if flashing it with this new firm ware would fix the problem. i flashed my phone with it and it worked fine but im not sure if a previously locked phone would create problems when updating firmware. maybe some people in the forum could help. thanks.

This is an English only forum. Ask in English if you want an answer. Also, this section is for the Note 2. Ask again in the S3 section, in English.
Worked like a charm. Thanks!
big thanks to this thread! i had problems with my N7105 from HK as well but now it works fine on Globe LTE!
only problem i encountered was downloading the file which was 1GB, kept failing to download until this morning hehehe. :highfive:
Hi everyone. Might there be a torrent for the firmware file? Download keep terminating on my side. Thanks guys
Hi!
First I want to thank you for pointing out that only XXDMC3 will work with GLOBE LTE.
I think it is the SIM card itself because I have an AT&T i317 Galaxy note 2. First I wasn't able to get it to work. Same issues with you. Can call, text, but will not allow me to access mobile services.
I also tried flashing it with the modem from here (XXDMC3 (Philippines / Globe) N7105DXDMC1_modem_GLB) you can use this modem if you have the N7105
I misread the instructions and had a bootloop. But was able to reflash the stock AT&t firmware.
So instead of going that route, I downloaded this International ROM for ATT Galaxy note 2 As it is already XXDMC3 baseband.
It works very well. But I still have to wait for the activation of my LTE to see if that really works. But now I can access the menu's and H+ works on my phone.
This is using the Stock AT&T Modem.
I hope this helps folks with international phones and want it to work with GLOBE LTE.. =)
This firmware works fine with globe, but not so sure about Smart. A Smart prepaid SIM works fine, but a postpaid SIM does not work at all, not even for calling / texting. Smart are unable to explain why this would be the case. They made up some BS story about the phone being locked to Globe (a 7105 International edition !!) I was not able to test it fully because I sold the phone, so I can't say for sure it was a firmware issue. But we tried several Smart postpaid SIMS and all did not work. Just throwing it out there.

[Q] Can I use AT&T i747 on Bell in Canada?

I have an unlocked stock rooted AT&T i747 running 4.1.2. I want to use it on the Bell network. When I put in a Bell sim, it shows it has service, and the pda.bell.ca APN shows up, but it can't find the Bell network, only Rogers. Just wondering if anyone else has tried the same thing and had success or no? As it is I cannot call, text, or browse... Please let me know if there is anything I can do.
Is there an option in the network settings to select lte or wcdma?
Did you check to make sure the phone isn't listed as being blacklisted?

I haven't located any settings about WCDMA or LTE. On my i747m I'm used to being able to toggle between 2G/3G/4G. Nothing like that here. Bell's IMEI check approved it, and it's not on the national blacklist.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434995 has the APN, I assume you already looked it up but can be useful.
Getting service but no data is usually just not having data turned on.. So obvious question: Do you have it turned on in your settings/pulldown menu?
If your APN checks and data is turned on, you might have to give Bell a call (don't have to tell them you have a US variant).
Thanks for your input. Data is definitely turned on. However, please remember that it's not only data that isn't working. I am also unable to call and text.

Can you check to make sure your baseband matches your bootloaders? If it does, I'm out of options for now. Bell (or someone else) can probably help you further.
Sorry for not being overly knowledgeable...

Which carrier are you trying to use the phone with? If it is Telus/Bell/Koodo/Virgin, it should work without changing anything.
The only networks that support GSM are Fido and Rogers.

No way to use jio sim cuz to use jio your device must be lte supported and n910p lte only works with sprint sim card in usa.. The phone has allready lte bands but its locked if you use gsm sim. And i didnt see any guaranteed method that unlocks lte bands.so you have to stick with 3g & hspa+. Like me so i suggest your phone is fully unlocked now you sell it or swap with any international model.
Download and run this app and you will know your phone supports volte or not to make sure.

If you want to use a Sprint Galaxy Note 4 on GSM OUTSIDE the U.S., just call Sprint and they'll unlock it for you, as long as the ESN is clean, the phone is fully paid off, etc. When I switched from Sprint to Ting CDMA earlier this year, Ting called Sprint for me and had it unlocked for international GSM use. I've used it since in the UK on O2 with a prepaid SIM, with good data speeds but no LTE.
If you want to unlock it for GSM use INSIDE the U.S., that's a different story. Check for other threads here on XDA.
