Ok. To my understanding the problem with running WP7 on any Sony Ericsson phone used to be the hardware not being able to handle the software. But, what about now? I compared the Sony Ericsson Arc S, and the Ion too the Nokia Lumia 7100, and the specs are near identical. The difference being something minuscule like direct uploads to YouTube. So I want to know if it's possible to put Mango on a Sony Ericsson, because I really like the WP7 interface, and even more so Zune, but I just hate the phones that Microsoft is putting out. I'm about 95% sure this is possible, but I would appreciate if someone could tell me how this can be done.
Hardware us good enough.
BUT the kernel etc is for Android, so WindowsPhone won't run.

Windows is not an open source OS! So it is not possible to port it for Arc or any other model. However, dual boot may be possible on Lumia 800.
cool
appreciate the info
And if you want the interface use these:
The Winphone 7 lookalike launcher
Windows Phone 7 / Zune themed media player for Android OS
But it does run on the HTC HD2.
Also Android is better imo

Yes, because the HTC HD2 has standard Windows and Android (open source) in addition.
It won't work in the opposite.

I'm here because I own an Arc. And I just shared my view.
Dude... Please .... Now Arc S is legacy , i bought it for 25k now it wont go for 6k
Tired all kinds of GB,ICS ,KK roms and must say there is no end to love on this phone
ICS BETA was recently launch a few weeks ago and there were allot of development done using that. It was only for arc s, ray and neo v and was already ported to be use with the arc and the neo. I wonder if there are people that are good enough to port it for the Xperia pro. I really want to try it but after the new Xperia 2011 was released Xperia pro was left out by Sony and all the new things were dedicated to the newer phones. I would be grateful if someone can port this ICS for the Xperia pro user.
Thanks.

I want ICS to on my xperia pro. No themes about our phone. :-(

Have you tried just flashing it and see what happens (might be dangerous...). The ICS beta for Neo V works ok if I flash it without any patches to my Neo.
Maybe just try to flash ICS beta for Xperia Neo V and if it works try the patches for the Neo and see what happens.
This is just a general question that has been bugging me recently, i hope that it is ok to ask it here.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that Qualcomm didn't feel like releasing drivers for 4.2 for the cpu that powers our Xperia S. So i am wondering if perhaps the drivers from 4.1 would work? Or Android doesn't work like that?
No, the drivers would be different I believe. They might release the new driver later like they did for the Xperia X8 ICS on my experience when a petition was signed.

While visiting family over Christmas I had a lot of time to relax and be merry. But being away from my usual assortment of computers and gadgets that keep me occupied, I also had a lot of time with not much to do.
I also noticed that Xperia M forums are really quiet, so after our 'traditional' fried fish and potato salad I used nothing but my Nexus tablet to create a very basic CyanogenMod repo.
I quickly learnt that doing dev work on a tablet is really hard. I was just about able to create a few basic files and copy over content I know will be the same on my other Xperia device.
However if I'm to continue, I need to know how many of you want this. Xperia M has all the right hardware to run Android 4.4 KitKat, but if nobody uses this phone, then why bother?
P.S. Don't forget the poll above!!
This would be good for devs to start and produce custom Roms as there is very little development, yes there are kernels available but need a good base and cyanogen mod would be fantastic and I'm pretty sure all users of the M would really appreciate it I know I would and 4.4 would be fantastic

Yes bro we want cyanogenmod for this device.... will poll when I am on PC .... And bro there are lot of xperia m users

I would love to have CyanogenMod on my Xperia M. I used CyanogenMod on my Xperia X8.
I have Xperia M for a few days now, and it would be great to have 4.4 on Xperia M.
So what are you waiting for?
:fingers-crossed:
That's typical, I ask something just as someone posts a ROM
It's unclear to me why this phone belongs to low activity devices.
It's a very nice budget phone that offers alot for the price.
I am one of those that would very much like to see CM on XM.

Nah, I was thinking of buying a cheap phone for development and Xperia M seemed unloved when I posted.
I'll probably now wait to see what 2014 brings, perhaps I'll get the rumoured Xperia E2, assuming it is still qcom and not mediatek.
Bro pls consider it....its not bad phone....also it most popular among all Sony budget phones even when it is last one to be launched(see survey on xperia blog)
Pls dude if u plan get this phone....WE HAVE NO DEVELOPERS....:crying: :banghead:

Sony will have a big presentation at CES, which is less than a week away. We'll soon see if there is anything on the horizon.
If the Xperia E2 does turn out to be MediaTek, and no other Qualcomm based devices get announced, then I'll likely stick with Xperia M, probably the dual SIM version. I prefer how it looks compared to Xperia L, which is the same price as M here.

It looks like it's going to be called Xperia E1, with model numbers D2004/5 and D2104/5 for the single and dual SIM variants respectively.

CyanogenMod for Xperia M
I would love to see CyanogenMod on Xperia M as I previously owned the Arc S and was running it from CM10 through to the recent CM11 that was being released for the device.
Im also interested in helping develop the rom for the device as I own 2 Xperia M's one for everyday while the other is for development purposes so im not worried if it gets bricked and would like to join anyone else willing to bring CyanogenMod to our devices and get more people interested in the power of this phone

Mobile World Congress is at the end of next month. I believe the Xperia E was released in March 2013, so we should see the Xperia E1 by March 2014 this year.
After that it all comes down to specs and price. My assumption is that Xperia E will not have better specs than Xperia M, but I think they will be very close.
I predict the Xperia E1 will have the following specs:
Snapdragon 200 chipset, with Adreno 302 GPU - dual core msm8x10 or quad core msm8x12
512mb RAM (probable) or 1024mb RAM (hopeful)
Android 4.3, with an upgrade to Android 4.4
Resolution of 480x320 (probable) or 854x480 (hopeful)
The most important spec will be the processor, I want something compatible with Android 4.4. The above chips are brand new, they have support for Android 4.3 and above, I didn't see any Android 4.2 support on CodeAurora Forums.
If it comes with anything MediaTek, I will not buy due to lack of available source code. If it comes with the older Snapdragon S4 based on msm8x25 or msm8x25Q, I will not buy as it will only ever have Android 4.1, support for its Adreno 203 GPU was dropped from Android 4.2 due to missing hardware functionality.
The other specs I'm not too worried about, but obviously the higher the specs the better.
After all that it then comes down to the price difference between the Xperia E1 dual and the Xperia M dual. I assume the Xperia E1 will be cheaper, but if I happen to find a really good deal on a discounted Xperia M, I might be tempted by it, though I would prefer to work on the new msm8x1x chips...
Read about this April Fools Prank here.. About SOny making Windows 8.1 OS available to all Xperia Phones
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2703218
Leaving that aside.. is it really possible for Our phones to have the Windows Mobile OS.. and port of it ..
Not posible; Windows Phone 8 ; runs on other kind of hardware, and is not flashable

If sony would like to do it they could do it. Why not? I know that X1 or htc hd2 are different devices but if they can every device can. There is only lack of drivers, which sony should be able to make
