[Q] It restarts when i use Data2Ext. - HTC Wildfire S

I'm using the [Drk_mod]EQDKPv4.9_multi_deodexed_mhr rom. It has a sense 3.5 ui which looks great. But after i used data2ext, whenever i try to install an app from market or sd, the rom restarts. I need help.
My sd card is a class 10 & has 16 gb capasity.
Data2Ext has a 2096 mb and 256 swap size.
(Note: Searched all over the web pages google can paged... my last hope is you. :/)

its in rom thread which i showed u drk sense 3.5 mod.
but yeah ur rom havent that file.i am little confuse cz which link you gave here,i cant find changelog so i dnt knw whether this ll work or not.but try to flash data2sd from link i given.might it ll work.
data2sd scripts are old now.there are mounts2sd and int2ext+ scripts which are new and fast.but problem is that if which rom ur using have any other script then other script wont work so first of all you need to know that ur rom contains any other script or not.
but just flash data2sd i given to u.its from drk sense 3.5 mod.hope it ll work.

Can you give me some ideas for custom rom??

I am in a process of making a rom but now I am kinda pissed off with ICS (actually i was creating an ics themed rom but dropped that idea). So I need some ideas of what kind of rom should I make and what all features it should have?? Right now I am totally blank

Something which looks like ICS to the T. The status bar icons, dialer, contacts. And other basic features like Zip Align, DeOdex and stuff. Doesn't really matter what launcher, lock screen, messaging and keyboard you use cuz I'l only be using Go! and A.I.Type. Performance doesn't matter to me. Looks do. Get the taskmanager, pop up and stuff totally ICS-like.
Or you could try something fancy like Lunar UI. You do this and I'm leaving Repencis for yours. xD
Why dont u edit the original touchwiz launcher add new icons and styles to tht something new instead of the ICS and Cyanogen ..............best u create a rom with ur own created launcher...
or replace the stock apps totally not even one stop app should be left in the rom

High size is maybe due to the apps you included ..
Im waiting for your ROM as I know the memory and RAM saving tweaks should be good in your ROM..I dont mind leaving the look for it as how I did for CB v2..
Dont try to include many apps as people can add them as addons later..

I have removed bloatware from my rom but even after that it was about 185mb.. I think this could also be because I made this rom taking /system from a nandroid backup(I dont exactly remember how I made this rom ) n yeah.. it has all the tweaks and sound mods in galaxy y forum.. i will test its real power with merruck kernel

Imo include all the tweaks except the sound tweakz as some people dont like some mods..we cant remove complex mods like mega beats bass etc once we apply it..
Include the sound tweakz in a seperate addon post like how HCFroyd did for CB v1
there are more two things you can delete.
1. unneeded CSC files
2. unneeded a9tx dictionary files.
a full deodexed stock rom will have 30-70mb more spaces for the system partition (max size is 220mb). the lightest rom I've ever seen is hybrid. only 130mb for the system partition.

well thats not a problem for me.. i can make updater scripts to remove those mods. Btw, they wont affect sound until we start customizing it..
the Mistake people do......
to reduce the size after u make the zip use compression level to good using winrar and then compress
i had a size of 200MB and compressed it to about 123MB now and i can test ur rom as my download speed is good enough to download such high files
the size gets too high because people use store option while make the zip
the original size of system folder is -around 200mb
so if u store the size remains almost the same.............so u should use either good or normal compression try it out
and this does nt effect the rom i have tested it so i am telling u
I just took out all the files of my rom and inspected them.. I saw that the xbin folder was of 178 mb!!!!!!!! wtf is this!!??? should i delete one of bin/xbin folders??

Looking for a Sense Rom

Hello there,
I'm looking for a Sense ROM, but i cannot find anything suitable for me - and i have already tried a lot of them.
First of all i'm looking for ROM that:
* is stable, i don't need any freezes, reboots, etc
* is based on official HTC release
* has integrated Sense 3.0 o newer
* the battery status indicator on status bar has a percentage value on it - not next to, as it looks like 2 icons then and needs more space on status bar,
* has integrated app2sd or sth like that, what allows me to mount ext4 partition on sdcard as /data
* does not integrate a lot of stuff, i can install whatever i need from market
* and yes, i'd like to be able to use latest Google Play without problems
Any suggestions?

Just looking at this one myself. A couple of basic questions if I may:
With the extras that are listed, is there somewhere I can look up what they all do to decide what I might want? and
If I use some of them, do I simply run those files after flashing the rom in Recovery before rebooting?
Never had to add extras before.
Im pretty sure they are zip files so u just download them and boot recovery and install from sdcard.
Always make sure u have a nandroid backup of the rom (just incase)

They are zips, you're right. Any idea where I can find out what they are for? They seem to be options to have or not to have certain features but I have little idea as to what those features are.

Tried this Cool3D sense3.5 ROM today. Firstly it was laggy and second it always died when the phone was in idle. Had to pull out battery and restart every time. Changing Kernel or governor setup didnt help either.

Looks very similiar to the recommended one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223996 also made by the same author(s), just with newer sense (3.0 vs 3.5). What do you think?
And on more question... i have forgotten to mention that in 1st post, but.... do they support 802.11n wifi connections?

I suggest you flash a custom kernel say cake kernel (search it in dev section).
make a ext4 partition (1 GB primary partition) (Can be made with custom recovery)
download link2sd and mount partition
reboot.
I would like to join the question. I've got some kind of stock rooted ROM with Hebrew support. So I still want to use it. I've installed pimp my rom and add init.d support. What can I install now in order to use an EXT partition? I'm looking for something similar to S2E on CM.
Link2SD didn't seem to work up until now.
yes flashing custom kernal will create int.d ... make a second partition... and flash one of this whatever you want...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124 ...
i tried sometime... it doesnt worked for me.. try your luck...i red sometime it will work... if it works tell me,,,,
but sure link2sd will work... try sukhjit321 post above if you want...
I've added init.d support with Pimp My Rom, partitioned and flashed zip with INT2EXT+ with no luck. What I'm missing here?

[ROM][kernel]new hboot sense 4.0.3

First off let me say, I am not responsible for any damage this may cause to your phone you are flashing at YOUR OWN RISK.
that being said, this is a cooked ROM of the newest hboot on Virgin Mobile, it includes a kernel that you will need to fast boot flash.
features
deodexed
zip aligned
includes all sense 4 skins from HTC hub.
includes root browser free and go backup.
I may update this ROM if I feel the need, of course it would only be to add widgets and HTC apps from my old wildfire s that can't be found here.
only use if you are stuck on the newest hboot, my sister and I have both tested it and she's been using it for the past month.
IMPORTANT UPDATE
I had trouble uploading the complete but I have added a kernel download that should boot any sense backup or rom based on stock. remember to flash at your own risk.
if you wanna report bugs or anything feel free.

demi_fiend.... I'm not sure if this information is worth posting a new thread so I'm posting it here.
I personally am on the updated hboot1.57 and radio .0928.
I have also personally tested all Sense ROMs in the CDMA thread with the OTA hboot and radio.
This is my conclusion.
THEY ALL WORK!!!.
All you have to do is keep the original ( stock ) kernel. DO NOT FASTBOOT FLASH..... Everything works except WiFi.
Here's how to fix that. Make a copy of the WiFi modules in your stock ROM. You can find them in /system/lib/modules.
Save the copy some where on your sdcard. Now pick the SENCE ROM of your liking and flash it in recovery. Boot the ROM and install a root explorer of your choice. Now open the root explorer, find the modules and copy them, carry them to /system/lib/modules and paste. Now refresh the page where you paysted them and set the permissions to rw-r-r- on all 4 the modules that you pasted and reboot.
Now every thing in the SENSE ROM that you flashed should work just like it would on the old radio
Only thing that you can't do is over clock
Because of the stock kernel.
Hopefully this helps the guys/girls now on the OTA updated hboot and radio

Simon posted a kernel in this thread that supports the new hboot+radio and I assume/hope also would support overclocking. The one he posted is for AOSP-based ROMs, but I have updated it per his instructions so that it should work with Sense-based ones. Only thing I am unsure of at the moment is what modules would be needed (stock ones from the RUU or the ones from the old Sick v0.6 file). If I can find that out I can upload a zip that would have the updated kernel and flash the modules in recovery.
I'm sure you would need modules from the OTA stock ROM . Not the ones from the older radio.
There is no RUU for the OTA hboot/radio.
I have the modules if you would like a copy

I'm sure you would need modules from the OTA stock ROM . Not the one from the older radio.

Yeah I just noticed I missed the "patch" folder when checking for updates to them in the FOTA zip file :silly:
Well here's the updated boot.img if you wanna give it a shot. It is currently untested so I would highly recommend having a backup of a known working one on standby.
EDIT: Removed as WiFi isn't working.
Will try in a few

Breaks WiFi on all the sense based ROMs, but everything else works. Thanks for letting me try

Did you copy over the modules you mentioned to see if those make it work?
Yes sir. Those modules (OTA stock updated hboot and radio) and modules in jmz's and modules in simons' 0.6 .... None fixed WiFi

Well that sucks. Now I wonder if there's a difference in the RAMDISK used? I used the one from boot.img in the FOTA with the new hboot, but I wonder if I use the one from Simon's v0.6 it would yield a different result.
You build I'll test....

Ok got a new attempt. I am not sure if all 4 of the module files are needed or just the 1 that I have. I included the module inside the kernel ramdisk so you might (hopefully) not need to copy the modules. However, in case you do, I have the module attached in a flashable zip. Let me know your results and if you had to copy any (or all) of the modules.
Got them........ Will test today....there is a big difference in size. The stock OTA boot img is 4.0mb and the one downloaded is 2.9mb..... Don't know if it makes a difference. But I will try once I get to a computer @ work

[GUIDE] Cook your own Stock-based Sense ROM with Android Kitchen from RUU.

Since I haven't seen a guide on how to do this in places, I wanted to make one so people can make their own sense ROMs =D
Now on to the guide!!
First, download Android Kitchen from here and set it up for whichever operating system you're using (I'n on linux so I won't be able to help Windows and OS X users set it up)
Once you're done and have set it up, download your RUU that you want to base your ROM off if from here - http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Primo
After downloading the RUU, follow this guide on extracting ROM.zip from an RUU. If you're on Linux, use this tool to extract it - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39375422#post39375422
Now that you have you're ROM.zip, you'll need to copy it to the "original_update" folder in the Android Kitchen. After copying it their, create a working folder for Android Kitchen. Android Kitchen will now unpackage the ROM.zip and create a working folder with the RUU's contents in it.
Now you can apply your selected tweaks for your ROM!
Once you've applied your selected tweaks in the kitchen, go into "Advanced Options" and select "Convert update-script or updater-script". Enter the number for the option to convert to "Edify" format, otherwise your ROM will not work!! After doing this, you can package edit the updater-script in the working folder so that it flashes to the One V (You can ask for help with that below, don't hesitate!)
Now, package your ROM and use mode 1. Zipalign and make sure to sign the zip.
If you've finished this and haven't encountered any errors, congratulations on making your own sense ROM! You can now edit and mod the ROM for yourself =D
If you encounter any errors, just ask about them! =D
