You need to modify an xml...I can't remember which one, but let me look for it.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
EDIT: Here I have it, edit this file: /system/customize/CID/default.xml, at the end you have the bootanimation sound setup. Just point to the path were the bootsound is in, reboot and that should be working.

[Q] sound at boot ics?

does anybody know how to install sound at boot in ics?
also anyone know how to make the volume buttons change the track like in cm7??
cheers
Heavy_metal_man
About the sound on boot on ICS, the bootanimation.zip should contain the music file! This would enable the sound at boot and also it can be changed after copying the bootanimation.zip on your phone!
I don't exactly know about the volume button thing but as far as I have experienced, the music player is responsible for these settings!
is it as simple as that? put a music file in the bootanimation.zip file?
does the desc.txt file need a line to tell it to play the sound or is this scripted in init.rc or build.prop already?
And does the sound need a specific name?
Download this bootanimation with sound.. you will understand what to do..

Been a long time
Found an app by the name of boot animation changer lite. It installs sound binary and allows you.to use custom sound. Works great on the cm Tom's,not so well on sense ones.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda app-developers app
That seems to be an open question still. I'm not using ICS, nor do I want a boot animation or one with sound lol - but interesting that there doesn't seem to be a solution, yet...
No idea if it helps but I read a few times that you could place a file named "PowerOn.ogg" in system/etc folder. Probably it could be sorted out by studying the contents of a ROM that supports it?
I have it on my Sense ROM, let's see where it is...
On my Sense 4.0 ROM it is HTC_boot.mp3
On Wildfire it is in system/customize/resource on a Sense ROM. The file should be labelled android_audio.ogg.
On AOSP however I'm not quite sure. I'm also looking to add a downanimation on CM9 or Sense.

have tried this on cm9 and cmx on my sensation and have had no joy i believe the file the app attempts to flash is just the cm7 soundatboot.sh file.

i had long ago rooted my device , i lost my nandroid back up on the second day when i had flashed a custom rom..
and now i use a so callled stock rom that i downloaded from somewhere idk

Why stock rom??? Get back on CM7 !
Or install a custom stock rom - get .sense - it's got sense v3.5.

Forget about official updates if you have rooted device.
Wow, neither of you helped this guy, or even tried.
The only thing I would know to do is to find the original ruu for your carrier, flash that, and see where you stand. I'm pretty sure the updater only checks for firmware versions. NOT su installation. Could be wrong though...

What does boot.img and system.yaffs2.img contain?
Edit: no need to feel sad, the update won't release in India for some time.

see bro i explained you about the boot.img its only that much now in detail fr system.yaffs2.img (can be told as system.img too)
system.img is the system folder in your rom. when it is extracted it becomes the system folder..
if you go into system folder yyou will see these folders..
Code:
app
bin
customize
etc
fonts
framework
lip
lost+found
media
usr
xbin
and a file named build.prop
app:
Code:
it is a folder where all system apps are there..
you can paste a apk there to make it the system app
(the system apps dont get updates from market mostly
bin:
Code:
it hellps the icons to animate..
like if the animation has 9 images then to move those nine images
(that is to animate those nine images to become one animation)
the commands are given here in bin
(as far as i know i may be wrong about this)
customize:
Code:
all the customisations are here like your boot animation
(the default one not the customized one)
your default wall paper.. etc
etc:
Code:
all the permisions and etc are here
like the permisions of su , the bluetooth paired devices
your wifi passwords and all
fonts :
Code:
no explaination needed
framework:
Code:
it is a folder where all the jar files are located..
the jar files are used for all the work you do ..
like if you assign the MENU key with a Launcher then
tht assigning is saved into a jar
(this is never used with launchers its just an example)
if you wanna change the theme then you can edit
the framework-res.apk in it :D
lib:
Code:
all the lib like sound plugins this plugin that plugin
lost+found:
Code:
i dont know , its allways empty for me :(
donnt know what it is
media:
Code:
here you can paste the bootanimation.zip
of your own choice to have a
customized bootanimation.zip .
usr:
Code:
here all the icons are located ..
the icon of wifi bluetooth keyboard and all
xbin:
Code:
it is just a bin mostly used as a temp folder :D
the build.prop
Code:
its a file that is as like the updater script
but doesnt update nything but shows the information in the rom,
like what is the build of the rom
what version of the sense
what resolution you want
(the default is 120 but it is changable :D)
got things clear?

I think its the same.
You can get rom toolbox from market where you can download boot screen anime. Just rename it to sanim.zip before using it for cow bionic, dont know with the other roms if you still need to rename it.
So far for those custom ROM with customized boot screen, most of them are using the same mod which is sanim.zip with the replacing of the samsungani and bootanimation under system/bin
I once had a bootanimation.zip in CM9 and ICS created. Check it out and have fun Sorry for my bad English

Hello,

Where should i copy the zip file and should i rename it.
Thanks
P.S:
It works with the how to in this section.
I thought the whole bootanimation will be replaced as by arco's ICS Alpha.

I really love the new CM9 rom!however the camera function is not supported! Does anyone know when it'll be released? And by the way, there is an update phone option under about phone. Can I know if it updates the CM9 rom?

[TOOL]Boot Animation Flasher(discontinued)

Hi...
Many people had problems pushing the bootanimations to the folder through adb and stuff so I created a simple tool to do so..
The tool comes with the Jelly Bean Boot Animation(credits avilove.cullen) so you can directly start flashing..You can change it by replacing the hTC_bootup_one.zip file from the folder...
Just paste the bootanimation in this folder and open Flash.bat
The name of the boot animation should be hTC_bootup_one.zip (case-sensitive)

I think the process must be different for the PrimoC. I've tried using this tool (I get "remount failed cue and then the phone just reboots without changing the boot animation), I've tried manually deleting the original "hTC_bootup_one.zip" and replacing it with various boot animations from avilove.cullen's thread. No matter what I do, the boot animation remains the same. On a similar note, I can't seem to locate the "poweron.ogg" file to get rid of the horrid Virgin Mobile boot sound. It's frustrating dealing with the differences between the various models of this phone. I've soft bricked my phone like three times in as many days...

no poweron.ogg ...delete htc_boot.mp3 from system/customize/resource
and you need a rom which supports custom bootanimations!
I'm actually using your non-sense rom (nice work, by the way). That htc_boot.mp3 isn't the Virgin Mobile boot sound, either. It's some other random file that doesn't actually play at boot-up. I may have just found it. It's a file called "BoltAnimations.mp3" in /system/customize/resource/
Rebooting now to test...
Update: confirmed. That file is the culprit on the PrimoC. Thank goodness I found it. That boot sound is really awful.
Update #2: The boot-up file on the PrimoC is called "SPCVM_bootanimation.zip" in the /system/customize/resource/ folder. I renamed the Jelly Bean boot animation you uploaded to that, replaced the stock file and it works like a champ. Sweet

Only works with sense ROMs....if you want to make it work with cm ROMs....
1. Go to the .bat file
2. Right click and edit
3. Change hTC_bootup_one.zip to bootanimation.zip
4. Change /system/etc/resource with /system/media..
5.rename the bootanimation to bootanimation.zip....

thanx 4 reply , hamxa266 when u r using earphone in full volume do u have any audio distortion problem in ur kitkat rom ??
Hmm I was also having this problem on my G2 try every equaliser app but didn't get success . Then I myself edit this ROM to fix that problem and voila problem solves. I'm not a developer but if you follow all step correctly you will success .
I need your full concentration !
Step#1; If you have purekat ROM downloaded in pc then open it go into folder "system" here you will see "vendor" folder . extract that "vendor" folder to your sd card then open "lib" folder a file named "libaudioeffect_jni.so" and a folder named "soundfx" extract those folder to sd card also.
Step#2; now use root explorer to copy past these files ( i use this )
Step#3; open root explorer then past that vendor folder in root/system
Step#4; then cut and paste "libaudioeffect_jni.so" and "soundfx" into system/lib .
Step#5; then reboot your device nd enjoy

thanks 4 reply dude ..but those files are already moved in your suggested folder in my purekat 2.0 beta a4 ..anyway congratulations 4 ur self-fix . :good:
I know that they are moved in purekat but i have read your post and i have replied you on the bases of flinny cm11 ROM . in this ROM firmware are not correctly made that is why we have problem on audio !

which rom r u using now bro. ?? I have tasted so many cm11 based ROM like purekat 2.0 beta a4 ,cm11 finny alpha3 ,cm11 finny alpha5 ,aosb but I faced the same audio distortion problem ..if u permanently fixed the audio problem plz send me ur system/vendor screenshot .
u already know that I'm using finny's cm11 alpha3 and ur mentioned folders r already in finny cm11 alpha but in purekat ,when i unzipp the vendor /lib folder unfortunately there are no any file named "libaudioeffect_jni.so" and not any soundfx folder also but there is a soundfx folder in system/lib ..i think u will understand my problem..so I need ur help badly ..thanks
Firstly; I'm using jelly bean ROM because this much faster nd stable form any other kitkat ROM
Secondly; go to system/lib here you will find libaudioeffect_jni.so file nd and soundfx
