ive downloaded the boot.img file from this link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2013506
and downloaded the zip file .. but forgot to add it to the sdcard ..
i've made a a backup using CWM before anything ..
after that i've run this command : fastboot flash boot boot.img
and after that remembered to add the .zip file but i cant get into my phone anymore .. my phone just get into the HTC quitly briiliant page and stop ..
please help
can i add the zip file in a way to the phone so i can install it ??! because when i plug the usb cable to the PC it doesnt show the internal storage
Mount the sdcard as usb storage in the recovery
Cwm recovery ? Go to MOUNTS & STORAGE and tap the last option in the list
Then copy the rom.zip
different boot.img for different Roms???
A friend of mine helped me root my phone, I´m now running ViperX and flashed using Aroma Installer.
What do I have to do now when changing Roms - I don´t have to type commands hooking my phone up to the computer everytime,do I?
Just put the zipfile on my sd card - wipe cache and dalwik cache then flash rom using Aroma (when in recovery).?
There´s already a boot.img file on my sdcard where the ViperX zipfile is....
Or do I have to replace/ put the new roms boot.img-file there?
Nooooooob - thanks!
it's recommended to flash the boot.img that comes with the rom. if you are already on viper x JB then its not really needed. you can flash the new viper x JB with a full wipe over the old viper x JB (Viper X JB 3.2.* to 3.3.0) the latest Viper X JB rom NEEDS a FULL wipe.
if you are coming from any other rom you need the pc to flash the boot.img from the pc to the phone with the fastboot command

I was thinking of flashing InsertCoin.
Think my friend said the good part of Aroma was that I didn´t have to type commands using the pc connected to the phone everytime I wanted to flash new roms. Jsut mount, put zipfile and addons on the hox in the catalog where the boot.img is...?
No flashing a boot.img is impossible from the recovery, we need S-OFF for that but we don't have that. so flash the boot.img from the pc !
if i want to go back to the original OS i just enter CWM and go to recovery mode ?
and what about sdcard/0/ do i need to change it to sdcard if yes how to do that .. i didnt understand this :
adb shell
cd /sdcard/0/
mv * ../
mv .* ../
cd ..

Mount the sdcard in the recovery and you can put everything from sdcard\0\ to sdcard\
Also the nandroid backup .....
Then flash the boot.img from the nandroid backup, its in the folder. Then go to recovery and do FULL wipe (don't forget the dalvik cache under the advanced menu) then tap backup & restore and continue to restore the nandroid

Yes but did you copy the boot.img from the nandroid backup folder to the fastboot folder on the pc if the old boot.img still exists in the fastboot folder then you are flashing probably the old boot.img !

Well if you already did a full wipe and restored the nandroid then you only have to flash the boot.img. it will probably boot fine after that.....

Well it can't be restored because we don't have s-off otherwise it could ! But it is easy that it is actuallly copied along with the nandroid backup because at that point you have everything to boot the phone ! The nandroid, the boot.img and a custom recovery that is able to restore it. This way you can never loose the correct boot.img for the nandroid
And now ? What's next .... Updating to JB ....or where you alredy on JB ? Can't recall I have too many subscribed threads at the moment

So I just rooted my phone and tried to install new room cyanogenmod 10 in recovery mode .. after the installation was complete, a simple reboot and after about 10s I could see word cyanogenmod on the screen .. I though it would boot up after a couple of minutes but after 15 mins, still no response .. so i went back into recovery mode and did a factory reset, delete cache and restored the original ROM .. Once again a reboot and it left me with the same booting screen written "cyanogenmod" and nothing else .. I did it once more but no use .. It always gets stuck on the same freaking screen .. Really need help guys ..
whats your hboot ? Did you wipe cache after flashing the boot.img ?
If your hboot is on 1.3x you need a modified hboot for CM10
http://db.tt/uDdWaAtH
And if you want to restore a nandroid you also have to flash the boot.img that is located in the nandroid backup folder
yes did went into the nandroid backup folder and restored it from there .. i had other CleanROM 5.1 zip in the phone memory ..i did a complete reset n tried to install CleanROM 5.1 .. thought may b that could get me out of the loop .. bt didnt help .. doest matter i do nandroid back r unzip clean rom or even cyanogen 10 .. it gets caught up in the same loop hole .. and what is hboot .. ?
You have to flash the boot.img file with fastboot commands from the pc to the phone in the bootloader menu, did you did it like that or did you try to flash it with the recovery ?
no i did it just in the recovery mode .. not from my pc .. do i have to do it from pc .. ? if yes then how.. ?
Do you have fastboot files on the pc ?

Go back into recovery and do a full wipe and install the rom. Then reboot and leave it for about 5 minutes
The way to flash a rom is :
Copy the rom.zip to the phones sdcard, open the rom.zip and copy the boot.img file into the fastboot folder on the pc, keep the phone in fastboot usb mode and flash the boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then you enter the custom recovery and do a full wipe, after that you flash the rom from inside the recovery

You can mount the one x as an sdcard inside the recovery, mounts & storage and then the last option at the bottom. Mount as usb disk
Then you can copy the nandroid backup back to the phone and the boot.img to the fastboot folder on the pc. Flash the boot.img, full wipe and restore the nandroid !
Ps what recovery do you have ( also the version number)

clockworkmod recovery v5.8.1.8
Hi guys,
Need urgent assistance as I'm having a weird problem.
So I installed Viper (latest update) and everything was working fine...added numerous tweaks (statusbar, icons, etc)
Now I installed the latest version of Strobe, jotha's APM mod and SenseCream (in that order) but my phone won't start!
I can access the boot screen but it gets stuck on black screen after the modified boot screen (which worked before I installed these themes too btw)
I can still access recovery and bootloader but I can't start the phone - I'd also appreciate assistance in uninstalling these themes as they seem to be the culprit (if I can get them working, all the better ofcourse)
Any suggestions?
p.s. I have the international HTC One X with 3.14.401.31 (I believe) base
Did you flash the boot.img ?
Try to full wipe again in recovery then flash the boot.img then install the full rom. After installing, boot the phone. DO NOT flash those two add ons right away after the rom.
That also happens to me a while ago.
Hope that helps

I'll do the full wipe now...where do I find the boot.img though?
also how do I access usb to copy the full rom into the sdcard? i can't seem to access it
It's in the ROM zip . extract it and flash it through fastboot . fastboot flash boot boot.img .
If you do a full wipe, the full rom (the zip file viper rom) will remain in your virtual sd card.
First, on your computer where you save the downloaded zip file of viper rom, extract it then copy the boot.img you found inside, then place it on your fastboot files.
Next, go into your bootloader by pressing power button and volume down for about 10-15secs
In the bootloader, choose the fastboot by clicking the power botton, navigate using the volume keys.
Then connect your usb. Open a command prompt to your computer then navigate to your fastboot files. After that, flash "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
Then "fastboot erase cache"
Then go to recovery and wipe data, cache and dalvik. Finally, flash the zip file (viper rom)
make a full wipe: data, cache partition, and dalvik,

I probably deleted it as I installed the viper rom a long time ago...I have a copy on my laptop but I doubt I have one in the sdcard as well
Is there any way to transfer it from my laptop to the sdcard? perhaps via fastboot?
Oke, mount the sdcard in the recovery as a usb mass storage and copy the rom.zip from sdcard\O\ back to sdcard\
Then just reflash the rom.zip with only a dalvik cache and cache wipe.....always do a nandroid backup before flashing themes or mods
And after flashing a mod or theme you don't have to flash the boot.img if it goes wrong ....only the rom.zip. the theme probably broke the framework of the rom so it fails to boot properly

Ok so i got confused. I thought that you just recently installed the viper rom and not so long ago. The latest jellybean version is 3.3.2, which is what im using right now.
I've never tried flashing a full rom using fastboot command so i think a more experienced user could answer your question.
Try to access mount/storage from your recovery if you could possibly transfer data from your laptop.

Yes there is no other option the framework changed for the last viper update so I think the theme is not updated yet with the proper framework
Flash this recovery , you are on a old cwm recovery

So flash the recovery, mount as mass storage and copy the rom zip, install the rom.zip and choose wipe dalvik cache and cache only !!! Then boot the phone. Then use es file explorer and set it with root functions in the settings of es file explorer ....then navigate to system/data and delete the theme.apk files you want to delete, reboot again and its gone

so far I can't figure out how to remove the 2 themes I flashed on the phone though...strobe I "think" I found via system folder but I have no idea where the other 2 items are (SenseCream and apm mod) - any clues?
Quite a few of my apps are crashing at boot as well but I imagine this should be resolved once I've completed all the system updates
Appreciate everyone who's helped so far...thanks!!

Hello Guys,
I have a major problem with my HTC one X .. Let me tell u the story from the beginning. I was installing a ROM a specifically this one and I installed the kernel and all fine .. The phone booted and it was working perfectly but there was a problem with the keyboard that whenever it runs it crashed and I couldn't fix it. I said I will restore my old ROM that I saved with the recovery mood while I was installing the new one. I restored it and everything was restored perfectly. Then I got another ROM this one and I installed it ... I copied the zip file to the sdcard and then I restarted my phone in the fastboot mode to install the kernel and install the ROM as usual. I installed the kernel of the ROM using fastboot and then I entered to the recovery mood to install the ROM and complete my installation. BUT when I entered to the sdcard from the recovery mood I found nothing !! as if the sdcard has been formatted ... or as if someone deleted some files .. I couldn't find my ROM.zip though I am sure I copied it .. I couldn't find anything ... I tried to restore my old ROM and fix the issue but when I tried to restore I got no file found the ClockworkMod is not able to find the backup image as I am not able to find my backup image ... Now the phone is not booting and I don't have any access except to the fastboot mood and the ClockworkMod recovery. Is there anyways I can reach the sdcard to copy a ROM and to install the kernel to be able to boot .. .. or how can I boot and fix this issue. Please help me guys . ...
Ow first thing : enter the recovery and mount the sdcard as a mass storage device/usb diskdrive
When you mount the sdcard as a mass storage device in the recovery .... is there a sdcard\O dir ?
If so copy it all from that dir back to the root of the sdcard !

I flashed the cyngmod rom and it worked pefectly but when I install gapps the keyboard stopped working and many applications .. would u mind if u suggest me a good jb 4.2.1 ROM + gapps that u tested which stable and working perfectly .
I never tested a single CM10 but did you install gapps directly after installing the rom without reboot ? Otherwise try the CM10.1 seems pretty well in my opinion !

Same exact problem !!
here are the steps exactly
1- erased the cache
2- Installed the kernel
3- erased the cache again
then I went to recvoery mod
1- Install ROM
2- install gapps
3- reboot
when I rebooted keyboard is not running and it keeps crashing !! :S :S
Wiping cache will not do the trick. Use the wipe/factory reset option in recovery before installing rom and gapps.
I did .. I usually before I install the ROM I wipe
1- data/factory-reset
2- cache
3- delvik cache
Also wipe in mounts and storage
Format cache
Format data
Format system
To be sure and then install the rom.zip
Hi , Yesterday I tried to flash Cm10 official I did everything after the steps Changing my boot.img flash gapps and rom and I wipe everything before. But when I tried to turn my phone on he was stuck on black screen , I am rooted and unlockdbootloader of curse and I am s-on.
Using CWM Bootloader works fine and recovery aswell so I tried to back my HTC Sense+ nandroid backup and i am wiped every thing before but I'ts steel doesn't bootup does i need to flash Sense Boot.img ?
You need to flash the boot.img that is delivered within the rom.zip.
What hboot version do you have ? If you are on the JB hboot i suggest you try CM10.1

Put the phone in the bootloader and flash the boot.img from the rom
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache

How can I move IceColdJelly from my computer to the phone without boot ?
You must mount the internal sdcard as a usb diskdrive, you have the option inside the recovery. What version do you have ?

What recovery do you use, and also what version ?
What have I done :
1. CID HTC__044 downloaded
2. Boot into fastboot and plug into USB
3. fastboot the img provided
4. Boot into recovery
Right after that, there is an icon showing a phone and a warning sign while booting into recovery (what I understood the recovery fails). Did I miss something?
That's the stock recovery, that's needed when you restored the stock rom with the custom recovery

OK, can you tell me the correct way to revert back to stock?
I did these also :
1. Downloaded 4.19.707.3_HTC__044_stock.rar file
2. Extract the file
3. Go into the folder
4. Boot into Fastboot
5. Flash the recovery.img (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)
6. Flash the boot.img (fastboot flash boot boot.img)
7. Go to Factory Reset
8. Go to Wipe cache partition - Yes
9. Go to Advanced - Wipe Dalvik cache - Yes
10. Go to Mounts and Storage - Formats cache, data and systems - Yes
What's next?

I have successfully done the stucked part, now waiting for my phone to be restored. While I'm waiting, which RUU do I need to download so that I can get OTA?
