General questions about Slim Star - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Thanks Krazeekracker for generating the latest super mod SlimBean. Been enjoying what I've experienced so far.
Got a few questions. Specifically the features list shows a few mods such as V6 Supercharger and 3G tweaks and PMR tweaks. In the past when I've implemented V6 I use the script to make adjustments, and to "supercharge" the launcher. I noticed that "vac", "flush" and "fixfc" aren't a part of the terminal commands at install, so do I still need to run the V6 supercharger script to implement the tweaks?
Similarly, do I need to install PMR to use those tweaks?
Thanks.

The answers to both of your questions are no. The tweaks that you see are the files that come out after you run those scripts. It won't make a difference if you run it again.

New issue/question. Not sure if this is related to onlychevys latest slim build or the all-star release of it.
My camera app is showing only 3MP option and a reduced menu (no options for storage location, image quality, etc.). Is this a problem with the driver? Should I be reflashing something? I tried a different camera app from the market but with the same limitations.
Sorry if I've missed an existing thread on this but I've read the entirety of the onlychevys and slim star threads.

V6 super charger??

Does it work on this fourm
If so can some one give me links and instructions
A video would be nice too (searches for qbking)
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Does it work on this phone? Sure - if you have a kernel with init.d support (stock kernel does not).
All you do is put the script in /etc/init.d give it the right permissions (same as every other script in that folder) and reboot.
I know the dev for it has made a GUI for the script now too - all it does is write to the V6 file so you don't *need* the GUI, however for the majority of people it would make things easier.
Here's the link
What is this v6 super charger you guys are talking about?
Don't be mean, I just don't knwow
It's an itit.d script file that alters the lowmem killer parameters. It's also adjusts a ton of other settings like writeback, nice, vm settings, and so on.

it should work, he made it to work for several phones. It's just ironing out what settings to use is what is going to be the rough patch.
The Supercharger does work on our phones as long as you follow the instructions. I've ran it since I've rooted my phone. However now that I'm running Calkulin's rom I can't really see a big difference. Try it out
Does it work with LoS & Zedomax kernels?
Yep and it works well. Also if you guys want some more responsiveness try the galaxy s touchscreen booster with super optimized settings free on the market
Sent from me using the XDA app
Yeah init.d scripts are generally not kernel dependent. They normally are just adjusting system settings and as long as your kernel supports running init.d scripts they will work. I've yet to find a custom kernel that doesn't support them.
No typing or anything. Just place it in etc/init.d make sure the permissions are correct and reboot.

kobridges aokp tweaks build.prop ?

I was wondering what's involved with updating kobridges tweaks for aokp.I've just been copying the changes from the b39 aokp tweaks the ones mostly in the bottom to the new build.prop in times infinity newest build.prop. Is that all that's involved? I also have all initd scripts of my own set up and running verified by s manager. Do cm9 tweaks apply to aokp since aokp is based off cm? Just a couple questions. Thanks for any help ! If I learned how I.wouldn't mind updating it with kobridges permission.
i know CaptainMorgan added the tweaks to miui i wanna do the same for my aokp there as there pretty awesome and useful.

V6 Supercharger on ICS

Hi guys, I opened this thread just to garner opinion about V6 supercharger and all other ram management scripts/apps, their effectiveness on our ICS roms. I use CM9 and just supercharged today, didn't really make a dramatic difference. In fact at times it feels more laggy than without supercharger. I'd like to know if anyone has a similar or different experience on any of the ICS roms for our phone.

Did u use the right way of using the v6,coz for ics u have to upload and download your system.jar from android mimics, bit different from the gb.
And i think v6 only would not be enough on ics, need more script like velocity or s97 juwe script and autokiller ram optimizer to boost the ram management that caused lag.

Yes! Absolutely, I did the services.jar patch and got 100% supercharged. Still assessing the performance but at times its more laggy than without the supercharger.

I have asked the thread but no response atm. I know that. That's why if the included v6 is not the latest update from ics i will unsupercharge it and place the new one. That's why i need confirmation.

Yeah, you right. The best way to find a tweak/script that suit you properly is to test it by your own.
Thus, I recommend guys to test other known script - Thunderbolt script
I will test this mod later, which include LMK supercharge also
Wow.. nice one.. can i combine this tweak with v6, kick ass kernelizer, 3g, and geekny engine? Would have try it though if it can

Okie, I will give a short conclude on what I'm doing on my phone now.
You right, I using both forfivo kernel v2.2 with freeky engine, pretty good and smooth so far, at least less lag I see
But 1 thing should mention here, geeky engine make my phone more worst, feel slow sometimes (I asked the dev and he not sure the problem too). Test yourself and see how.
So if you use freeky engine, you should move xbin to system instead of system/etc, otherwise zipalign may not work

Question about Scripts

I'm running a rom that has 3 different sets of geeky engine and freaky engine along with loopy smoothness and some others in the init.d folder. Most of them have at least half if not more of the same tweaks. I was going about changing some values within one tweak but didn't know if I needed to change every file or just one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Most likely you wouldn't. Id suggest doing the changes in rom toolbox so they apply to all. Just make sure you back up your set up before any major tweaking and be sure you know what you are changing.
That is problem with a lot of people releasing tweaks. They copy and paste a bunch of tweaks into a script and don't care about duplicates. U never know which one is running.
XDA Moderator
Yeah I thought it looked kinda weird when I took a peek in there. And thanks for the tip, I'll be using rom toolbox. So, any thing I can do about combining all those tweaks or when I use rom toolbox it just won't matter?
Yeah, going into rom toolbox and there is an option to import scripts but that still keeps them separated. Never used this app before. I know what I need to do; just don't know how to go about in there.

Can anyone give me some tips to edit scripts using rom toolbox
Sent from my PC36100 using xda app-developers app
Okay I finally found time to actually look into each freeky and geeky engine on the rom. Freeky and geeky are the same set of tweaks; not sure why you would need both. And had 2 different sets of Beats Audio scripts in there. I kept only one engine and one set of beats and tweaked both. Do these things run on their own at startup since they're in the init.d folder?

WHITE_BLOTTER is a very resource conscientious ROM

Very light and even somewhat future proofed...
didn't include apps that were in the /system or /preload tray that are easy to update on PlayStore.
So what happens is our device has an old version in system/apps and a newer version is in /data using space and resources in both folders.
Gnow for instance will have two copies [one old one new] as soon as we update if its included in the system/app.
Don't include it and it goes to /data only and works like a charm.
That being said I made excellent use of these folders we have on 4.1.2 .
My kernel is included... I built it from from Samsung source for full function of our device. Of course the Rom is compatible with our 4.1.2 kernels uvmc6 found in our dev threads for our devices.

Anyone able to flash this? I installed it but it got stuck on the white star, the bar loaded almost all the way, it just needed a little tiny piece at the end but it wouldnt go past there, waited like 10 min. I tried to flash it 3 times using the following steps
I downloaded it to my PC and got the exact size
wipe Dalvik Cache, Data, System, Cache, Android Secure and Preload.

exposed, yes.. some exposed mods werked like color tweaks but in the end I took them out for various reasons. I hope to one day see that they are completely stable with one another.
for instance if you pile on too many as one would naturally assume you get probs.

running this for few days. no major problems only had 2 freeze which it froze for 10 seconds and return to normal. had to reboot almost 4 times to get rid of the freeze problem. the 4g data icon is gone. this could be themed. it now just shows up as h+ ,h, or 3g. it does somehow flickers from h to h+ alot . again that could be just icon themed
