Hi All
I want to study to porting NS4G ROM to Epic 4G
On 2012, I have been porting black beans ROM with xboxfanj method, it boots but the HW keyboard isn't working and there is a round thing when I touch the screen
Anybody know how to fix that?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium

The hardest thing I had was phone fc but the fix was all ril issue with fc09 modem and phone.apk I always had the hw keyboard even with the stock 10.1 cm but effsi 10.1 kang as a base got phone working

ya, you use NS4G modem to your ROM, settings.apk and phone.apk is from NS4G ROM
So, with effsi's CM10.1 you got HW Keyboard working?? and how about the round thing when you touch the screen?
CNA, blackbeans, and provision ROM, same issue, HW Keyboard and round thing
Provisions never booted for me bit I also was doing a quick cut and paste with that one and I have working on getting this baked ever since November but I'm loving it so far battery hog though it is a lot smaller than the stock cm10.1...with the stock cm as my base I still had the hw keyboard though you might have missed something with the cut and paste
I kind of followed a few different porting tips.. If you want to work with this one I did go right ahead let's turn it in to TPR BAKED EPIC

Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Xboxfanj and there was another how to port any ROM I just googled it and it was the first one which was a xda thread that one I followed for the first few builds which got it to boot but didn't get the phone issue I had...it is a basic port thread...delete this move that overwrite this copy that stuff but I would like to use a more resent base for this but I think I might hold off until a more stable cm10.1 comes out and cut and paste this over hopefully bean 8

Did you try throwing all the files from the nitest patch in the ROM that will get your baseband to pop up don't use the settings apk that will put the normal settings menu in and you might loose any custom ROM control menus that is what I'm having issues with provision right now. But bin libs etc and module files and the phone.apk go and copy and past them in your port and should work that is what I did for Provision and BlackBean

What I did was cut and paste all files in to the proper folders but start with the one before the memory patch like 12/5 for cm 10 or I think 12/25 for cm10.1

You mean you can't flash NS4G modem using a recovery, while this ROM requires it? Why not just flash the modem via Odin... (might have misunderstood you)
If this HellyBean goes with NS4G modem... I have to reconsider, switching modem between CM nightlies and custom builds is annoying and although I wished to convert my existing Epic modem ROMs to NS4G, I don't want an alternative kernel with that (voodoo color go damn), but ALL NS4G patches come with one. I. DISLIKE. VOODOO.

My first thread, so bear with me. Also, if there are any bugs, there is no guarantee that I can fix it. I just started out. Sorry about that
I know there are already two CM9 threads, but I think all of you may enjoy this one
My first port that I did, and I am posting it to share with all of you guys! Why did I port this? Well, I am very picky about what I want in a ROM, so this is the best one I found in my eyes lol
I would like to give out big thanks to:
jerl92 - his ROM is used here. thanks to him for letting me port it! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492461
blackwing182 - used his ROM as a base, thank you for that
Synthetic.nightmare - for helping me get wifi working and for the kernel, creamed coconut and frosted cherry
Mr.Highway - for his port guide. you guys should use it and give him thanks
Others I would like to thank is all the other devs that helped me (you know who you are )
I will update this ROM when I have free time. I will TRY to do so on every beta release the dev makes, or as I see fit. If there aren't many good changes in CM but the dev released another beta, I may or may not update it. I will try to answer all the questions you have. Since i am only one person, i may be slow at answering them. also, there are many kind users that can help you out with your questions. dont be shy, ask away! but make sure you read the OP first before asking a question for it may answer your question
Now, onto the ROM
what works with this port:
-mainly everything (wifi, bluetooth, etc.)
-trackpad wake & scrolling works
-camera flash
-DSPManager works. playing next track doesn't blow up your ears with your awesome music
-i believe netflix works (you guys test that out. the more confirmation, the better )
-instagram, everyones favorite app /s, works
-fixed video recording. so it works now (only 480p, CIF, and QVGA. recording in 720p doesnt work and will cause the camera to not load and can only be fixed upon reboot). ffc recording does too, but only qvga or cif mode. *flash FFC fix v2
what doesn't work:
-one minor bug: when plugging in headphones, the ringer state changes to something you did not set. for example, you put it on vibrate, you put headphones in, it changes to ringer on (sound on). when pulling headphones out, ringer state can change as well. it happens with me, but you guys can test it out and see if it does that for you. could be just my headphones. hope that all made sense
-another minor bug: cpu settings won't stick. use setcpu or another cpu control app
-idk if this is a bug, but the audio in the video recording is not as loud as it should be (not too sure about that). probably the mic. then again, the speaker on our phones suck so that is a problem
-DO NOT use ICS reloaded with this ROM. causes error. thanks to headcreepz for finding out for me
-you tell me what else (again, there is no guarantee that I can fix it. I just started out)
Changes: http://changelog.bbqdroid.org/
Instructions:
1. wipe data, system, etc.
2. flash ROM
3. flash gapps (http://goo.im/gapps - use/download CM9 one if you do not already have it)
4. flash FFC fix v2
5. don't forget to download a cpu control app to control cpu speeds, governor, etc. (optional)
*for updates, you can flash over cm9 without data. however, if problem arises, full wipe first then report problem if its still there. flash gapps over update if problem arises, as well as the files mentioned above
**if you get bootloops, flash a different kernel
Optional:
1. flash a different kernel (link down below)
2. flash wificalling rilfix zip. DO NOT flash the wificalling one. dialing a number and calling it knocks out signal
3. ICS audio libs for CM9 MT4G ports.zip will allow you to hear the other person in a video chat, like Google+

[ROM][PORT][ICS][CM9 based]Andromadus Mimicry
another ROM release on this post. its CM9 based one called Andromadus Mimicry. and this one has aroma installer with some great options
first off, thanks to blk_jack for the ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1714187
also thanks to:
-blackwing182 for his ROM, used as a base
-Mr.Highway for his porting guide
-synthetic.nightmare for helping me with almost everything and for the kernel, creamed coconut and frosted cherry
-the rest of the devs who answered my questions
now onto the ROM:
what works:
-the main things
what doesnt work:
-minor bug: cpu settings won't stick. use setcpu or another cpu control app
-idk if this is a bug, but the audio in the video recording is not as loud as it should be (not too sure about that). probably the mic. then again, the speaker on our phones suck so that is a problem
-you tell me
Some info:
blk_jack said:
A quick note on this. It's not that it's a bug, it's just that if you select the Virtuous OC Daemon package to be installed, it takes over controlling your governor & CPU frequencies. So if you set it to a specific freq/governor in the menu yourself manually, it'll reset as soon as you turn the screen on/off (which activates the OC Daemon). If you want to set it yourself, just don't install the Virtuous OC Daemon OR install an app that can control the daemon's settings (there are a bunch).
Hope that helps

- Under-the-hood stuff that most won't understand
Updated 0714
- Fix for notifications resetting headphone music volume to 0

- Under-the-hood stuff
Updated 0715
- Updated kernel based off latest I717 source
- OC/UV removed for now
- HDMI should be working

- added stupid data tweaks to shut everyone up
- Burst mode array flipped to be inline with other options
- Swagpapers from original M6 added back (two additional wallpapers)
STUFF YOU SHOULD KNOW AND THINK ABOUT
1. This rom does not have wifi-calling and never will! If you want wifi-calling, go enjoy a touchwiz rom (notice my ambivalence? )
2. The SGS2 is NOT in any way, shape or form a tablet. So stop trying to make it one or you will suffer random FCs and other issues.
Translation - DONT CHANGE YOUR DPI TO SOMETHING RIDICULOUS LIKE 160.
3. Flashing roms is not rocket science. Rule of thumb is wipe cache,dalvik-cache,system and flash. If you don't have issues awesome, if you do then you NEED TO DO A CLEAN INSTALL. This has been the rule since the beginning of time and creation. It will apply to EVERY PHONE YOU OWN FROM HERE UNTIL ETERNITY SO GET USE TO IT.
4. Why am I typing in caps? CAUSE I'M YELLING AT EVERYONE THIS APPLIES TO! <3 <3 <3
Hopefully this thread wont have the how do I flash? I have echo because I dirty flash, and should I wipe posts.
Thanks for all that you do

Only bug I found on the 0703 Build was with regards to viewing videos in the gallery or the camera app. If the video was recorded while using AOKP it played back without issue. I had trouble playing back older videos from previous ROMs. The video would start to load and would keep loading, if I tapped the screen while loading it would start to play, if you don't tap it, it would say video can't play.
It was working kinda funky monkey
Other than that no real issues, heard that charging while screen is off was quirky as well, but I just left my phone on and charged. No reboots, no FC, clean, smooth otherwise.

Ill do a full wipe, no worries about that. I was asking when new updates come out If we can just flash over top of the existing install of if we need to do a clean install every time after I do the initial flash.
So been running build 40 going to flash the latest build today I notice it says to use latest CWM I have been using TWRP with no problems. Should I switch back to flash 0703 or will TWRP be sufficient?
Yeah I'm looking for a Theme Chooser flashable zip for JB, and Odexing tool for JB as well.
I saw BAMF Paradigm has the theme chooser but I really don't like that ROM, I want to theme any JB ROM that's AOSP. For that I need a zip.
As for Odexing, I found an apk that is supposed to do that but it never does, I just get stuck at the boot screen forever after using it (ICS & JB)
So if anyone can help wit this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks all

As far as I know, can't be done. The theme choose requires modifications to the framework as well, its not just an APK that's flashable. At least that is how it was explained to me back in the CM7 days
Framework, and apps.
I however, like our rom

Well I almost do, if 2.1.1 would be released I think I might switch but as is I'm running CM9 & Jelly belly 6.0.1
I ran BAMF Paradigm for about a week but the screen kept turning itself on randomly thereby draining my battery.

The OdexMe app only works on stock based roms. Not on AOSP, CM or AOKP roms.

BAMF is an awesome ROM. The problem with the screen waking is possibly superSU granting an app root access. Its usually a toast pop up saying that an interactive shell has been granted. At least it was for me. You can turn the notification off in the superSU settings. Use BAMF and donate to the adrynalyne retirement fund

Yeah, I switched back earlier today and haven't had the problem now after turning off SU notifications. Really this is the most advanced JB ROM out there. I'm hoping to see it with the L base soon

Sweet. I'd be more than willing to be a tester for ya.
If I knew how to cook ROMs and such I would even help out if I could. I think it would be fun really, but sadly everyone I've asked so far wasn't very helpful

Yeah I'm back on AOKP. Much happier now.
Does AOKP have the CM problem of data loss when handing off between LTE/4G/3G?

Unfortunately I don't have 4g in my area . 3g works fine.
AOKP itself is awesome. The only problem is the developer for Ktoonz and etc. version of the rom don't actually own a sprint GS3. Its pretty much just a build/port without any real support or updates.
Where's the zip for this to work on TW ROMs?

I had trouble at first too finding them. So I paid a visit to AOKP.Co and found it.

Nightlies are pretty good by Kasp3r, but I wanted to use the most stable base of 4.1.2.

There's a possibility, if I can find out how to implement it. It's different from stock ROM to implement it. Also, not sure but I think the tethering hack is just an illusion, I can't find any surefire evidence that it works. I was never told by T-Mobile to begin with I needed to purchase tethering when I used any tethering apps, or CM, AOKP native tethering, and I highly doubt a firmware hack is going to bypass a server-side cap.
Just decompiled framework-res.apk, the settings are different from TouchWiz here on AOKP. So no, the mod cannot be implemented.

Thanks for the rom. Smoothest and fastest aokp I've tried. The only bug I've found is it tripled my songs but the duplicates don't play. I'll let you know if I find a fix

I unfortunately can't release build 2 yet because the init.d tweaks keep causing a boot loop.
