Stock 4.1.1 keyboard on 4.1.2 rom request - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps

As some of you know, the stock 4.1.2 keyboard doesn't auto correct when you press the space bar. Instead, you need to select the suggested word manually. However, the 4.1.1 keyboards do support proper auto correct. So, can anyone make a modified version of the 4.1.1 keyboard which would work on 4.1.2 ROMs, like xxella?

Since you are on Verizon and want the 4.0.4 version, I don't think I'd download the one attached to post 2. I made one for stock 4.0.4. You can get a flashable .zip here and make sure to install/setup LMT launcher or button savior before flashing teh .zip. You might also want to backup your current framework-res.apk in /system/framework in case you want to go back to stock.

Hi M. de Haas,
I also updated my Galaxy S II today to ICS 4.0.3.
After this I rooted the phone and installed the theme ICS DOMINATION v4.1
As you can see at the DOMINATION thread there is a specific instruction for odexed ICS ROMS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23697378&postcount=10819
Unfortunately the theme made it impossible to make a phone call. Also the Apps screen only displays the app's and does NOT provide an option to select Widgets as the screen prints at the DOMINATION thread implies.
Of course it is always possible it has everything to do with me but...
My advice to you is to search for an alternative ICS, just like me

Im running a deodexed Stock rom, it looks exactly like a stock samsung rom, if you flash that one you are able to flash some more mods cuz most mods need a deodexed rom, The rom is named NeatRom.

[REQUEST]Add just a menu button to the Nav bar?

I'm currently running Viscious jb ROM. I miss the features on aokp to customize the Nav bar. Is there a quick/flashable way to just add a menu button? I would like to have them in this order. Back, home, menu, tasks. I know there are soft key mods out but they also have battery themes to them, correct? I just want to flash a new nav bar only. Thanks!

I tried the mod from here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/29153-mod-411-jelly-bean-soft-key-mods-with-menu-and-search-stockbb/. It worked for me on stock 4.1.1, not sure if it would work for the ROM you're running.
It doesn't mod the battery and adds just the menu key, but it also doesn't put the four nav keys in the order you want.
Thanks for the reply. I found that thread before. If there's no easy way the way I want it, looks like I'll have to modify it then. I'm just too lazy these days

Can someone please help me out to create one for stock JB 4.1.1 JRC03C thank you.

Did you just flash it thru cwm or you had to modify the apk (decompile - recompile it) to make it work on stock rom. Thank you.

But why would you want to do that? The lack of menu button has it's purpose.

I just flashed it back when I was on bigxie's deodexed stock 4.1.1 (JRO03C), and it worked perfectly for me. But like always, it's probably a good idea to make a nandroid to be safe before flashing.

Already tried it and it didn't work maybe because my rom is completely stock odexed. About the backup I always do it, and I even backed up the SystemUI separately, thank you for the information.

Not many mods will work for you if you're on an odexed ROM, I'm guessing that's what went wrong.

Getting stock JB keyboard on custom rom help?

I've tired many Roms and non of them have the stock keyboard. I mainly want it because of the .COM at the bottom right hand side of the keyboard.
Is there a way to run it on CM10?
swiftkey.. but seriously.. you could extract the latinime.apk from the stock rom and install it on whatever rom you are running. try that and let me know

custom kernel/rom Disable keyboard auto correct (but enable predictive text)

Greetings,
Before using a custom kernel/rom, My samsung keyboard worked very well with predictive text. I liked the fact that it did not auto fill as it always tends to make mistakes and I prefer clicking the prediction.
In my current settings, there's no setting to disable auto correction for words (disabling predictive text will disable all predictions which is not what I want)
Is there any solution to this? Maybe a setting somewhere I can modify with root browser. I'm used to samsung keyboard and liked the fact that it did not auto correct

You could try just extracting the stock keyboard from stock firmware and replace the one in your custom rom with the stock version. Probably need to deodex it first though.

I tried to change the xml file in data\data\com.sec.android.inputmethod\shared_prefs\
com.sec.android.inputmethod_preferences.xml
tried to disable from the xml SETTINGS_DEFAULT_WORDCOMPLETION and SETTINGS_DEFAULT_SPELLCORRECTION .
Set them to false, restarted device, stopped process etc. But it did not make a difference. How can I make those changes take effect?
Meanwhile I'm downloading a dedoxed stock rom so I'll get the keyboard from there like you said and hope it works the way I want.

I used the apk file from a deodexed stock rom and that fixed the issue. I have no experience with android applications but will probably get into that soon
In case someone searches for this, you can find a deodex stock rom (and a list of more or less every kernel-rom) here. Just download the stock deodexed ROM and use the apks you want.
