So I got a new airrave tonight, last one wasn't letting callers hear me but I can hear them. Same issue with new one. Sprint couldn't figure it out last time so they sent me a new one. I'm on Verizon FiOS and they ran speed tests to make sure I had enough bandwidth for calls and I do. Any suggestions?

The galaxy s3 and the airwave have been known to have many issues I have one too and I have delayed messages and missed calls that I never got and even people not being able to hear me its not the airwave or the s3 its just an incompatability issue

I also was having issues with the new Airave and Galaxy S3 and ended up just unplugging the Airave and not using it. It's still sitting next to my TV waiting for Sprint to actually acknowledge there is a problem. I'd rather have 1-3 bars of service at my house instead of dealing with no getting any calls at all.

I had the same problem with my EVO LTE and now my S3 on occasion. After much troubleshooting and speaking with many clueless Sprint Techs, I finally found a Supervising Tech who actually knew what he was taking about. First off, he was here in America.... lol, He actually owned an S3 and had an Airave. According to him, the LTE antennas have a hard time with the Airave. To help your phone to connect to your Airave, make sure your phone is set to CDMA only, not CDMA /LTE.

Ah, makes sense then that I'm not experiencing the issue if it's specific to their device(s).
I don't use Verizon/Frontier's Actiontec router at my edge.
I have the actiontec rev I Wifi N router, 75/35 speed upgrade and the airvana and have no issues with mine.

I just recently purchased an epic 4g touch on sprint with their unlimited plan and every where I go I usually get full bars but still can't go faster than 9kb/s once I hit around 30 but over been hearing people get around 200-300 anyone know what I can do to increase my speeds. Also note I don't have 4g in my area so that's not an option

But seriously, try going to a Sprint store. Checking your phone side by side with their model Epic 4G Touch.
Thanks I might try that gotta revert to a stock rom tho. Also my parents had crappy Samsung intercepts and i saw about 100-150 KB/s so it might be my phone

I think the signal bars prioritize 1x (aka 2G) for phone signal, rather than actual data speeds. I also heard signal strength isn't as big of a concern with CDMA as it is with GSM. (Meaning CDMA can reach farther, I think.)
Well is there anything I can do cause phone calls and texting work great its the data connection that slows down it took 2 solid days downloading to get grand theft auto 3 lol I really want this to work better for tethering I don't have wifi

Has Sprint's signal always been...lacking there? Or has it suddenly gotten that bad? My guess if it you used to have good speeds, then there must be an outage somewhere. You can try all of the 3G and 4G modifications to see if they work better. Also flashing each modem 1 by 1 and testing each one can help some. But overall, you wont see much of an improvement because signal usually has to do with Sprint's end.
Haven't tried flashing each modem but ive done modifications to my 3g settings ive even tried going into data programming and changing the port it connects to. Sprints coverage might have degraded out here it wasn't too great to begin with I get stuck in roaming alot lately

Yep that's sprint for ya. They will tell you its because they have so many customers and all of them are abusing the network.
So I wonder how att and Verizon manage to have better speeds.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I just remembered. Sprint offers airaves to people with bad signal at home. An airave hooks up to your riuter or modem and broadcasts sprint signal within a few hundred feet. I'd suggest asking Sprint for one. I also heard you can use them as an upgrade line when you want a new phone. Lol

I can tell you why your getting terrible speeds... Its the people who tether their phones to play call of duty and for their daily internet connection on the computer.
Nothing we can do about it until sprint terminates some contracts early for violating the terms of service and refusal to comply.

My friends have a mix of Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile... They have no problems with anything... Except for the AT&T... They have intermittent problems....
When you walk around and look around, everyone BUT Sprint brought in temporary towers to provide service for the festival. Sprint has a nearby tower that gives me 3-5 bars, and but it's FAR overloaded. There are 75k people here today, give or take...
All I'm saying Sprint, is would it kill you to bring in a temporary tower or 2 for the 3 day music festival of 100k people or so...?

At the big golf tournaments here in Florida or at any Football stadium, the towers are always oversaturated. In some markets, AT&T provide Sprint's backhaul so it's possible those were related.

I will note that at a recent major sporting event in an LTE market I was getting 1mbps down on my GS2 on 3g (unfortunately was there a week before I got my GS3). Others in my group on other carriers were getting the typical sporting event zilch. I am hoping this is a sign of things to come.

So your friends with Sprint didnt have problem. But yet you did.. So seems to be your device and not Sprint.
Unless you meant to say your friends with Sprint ALSO had problems.. in which case the network operated normally. It was a festival with over loading. It happens.

I had similar issues when T-Mobile was refarming their towers in my area to add 3.5g via 1900 mhz, especially midnight to morning. Not sure if that's your issue, though.
Signal would get weak, speed slow, sometimes only edge. Lasted about a week or so.

I'm not sure whether it's because of root or not, but it has to be the phone. My girlfriend has a different phone than mine and hers was working perfectly inside and outside, whereas mine would not want to load anything, it would drop to edge and then to no signal at all. After getting a replacement phone, it's working fine.

Just called 611 asked for tech support on the automated system. When you get the tech you will have to do a new apn but not to worry if you tether it wont affect it. They will do a number of other trouble shoot things. Just tell them its been happening to you for a couple weeks. If they say call us back tell them no. Ask to open up a service ticket. All is well in my home now. Let me know if this helps. And you can also call customer care first and tell them that im not happy with my data speed connection and see if they give you credit like they did to me. Be nice of course. Good luck

You guys aren't alone, but I think this is a tower issue not a phone issue. Possibly a new modem might fix this.
Why do I say that?
Well at home, by San Francisco, I get 15-23 Mbps download speeds, and now I'm in Las Vegas for business, and am only getting 100-500 Kbps.
I called and let them know of the issue, and they were going to do a field ticket where they actually take out the phone and test it on that tower to see what is going on.
I think anyone else having this issue should do the same. My guess is it has something to do with the refarming of the 1900 Mhz band.

You just noticed what has been present on Sprint's GS3 since it launched. :victory: Keep in mind though that it's a network AND hardware feature. As of now, the only Sprint phones that support this feature are the GS3 and HTC Evo LTE (Sprint's HTC One X variant).
Even though I've been in a position to use this feature sparingly (but often enough that i was glad it was there), it's made me hesitant to leave my GS3 for a Note 2.

Hello,
I have been around for a while, since my htc hero. And I've trusted xda to fix the many issues that manufacturers leave in. However the are a few issues with my new Galaxy S III that are driving me mad and if I can't fix them I may have to return it.
So far my speed is terrible. My 3g speed is half that of my wife's Epic touch. My 4g speeds are fine but will randomly switch to 3g (and with lte there is no refresh button like wimax, so I have to use airplane mode). And 4g is slower than 3g when I try to download from the play store but fine in the browser.
If anyone can help that would be great. I can't search all that well from the app and I am on stock tw 4.1 just rooted. I already fix all of the prl updates and stuff.
Also sometimes a green checkmark appears in my notification bar and says preparing network.
Other than this annoying network issue I really like this phone. I would hate to have to return it for the lg optimus G
