Drippler news ??? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Saw this im my drippler app " Let's face it, Android can be a bit fragmented at times. But who says we need to rely on carriers to push updates? Android is much more than a closed OS, ran by carriers. Thanks to the developers modifying Android, we can choose who we rely on for future updates and when we want to receive them. So with the new release of Android 4.2, there is no need to wait for your carrier to push it out, just install it now, here's how:
Prerequisites:
Rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 (how to)
Unlocked Bootloader (how to)" is this supose to be new...the link to the rom takes you to cyanogen page...so im kinda lost lol isnt this what we been flashing for a while now tru cwm xD

I dont believe anything outside xda man. Its 500 bucks phone; a lot of money at least for me

Perhaps its an cm10.1 rom that works for all version of the s3?

Its CM 10.1, and has links to the proper version for each variant.

Mobile ODIN

Looks like Chainfire just released an app that lets us flash firmwares straight from the phone, AND it keeps us rooted throughout the process! Pretty sweet!
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...ice-everroot-keeps-you-rooted-through-it-all/
Not for us yet though.

Idk, but this would be nice to flash on the fly. To bad we don't have a ics or miui rom yet.
My guess is it's just a matter of time pretty awesome concept!

Mobile Odin
Found this in software development. Looks like the att version is already supported and I posted a support request already for our version. Please read as this would be just another way to restore our phones without affecting download counter. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899 BTW made by chainfire so you know its good.

I saw that this mlrning also seems promising

Yah Chainfire makes pretty legit stuff.
just send a PM to CF and ask to include our T989
as i recall from the Heimdall developer there was something different about our phone, so CF will need to make the necessary changes for it to work as well
so does Heimdall needs to be updated to support our phone
Coming from E4GT
Hi,
It's been 3 months since last comment, and I installed mobile ODIN on my SGS2 E4GT just a few days ago. Works great, but was wondering if there are any news about whether the TMO SGS2 is supported yet. I switched to TMO and my phone is still "virgin".
Sgh-T989 is not on the supported list

I have zero bloat on my phone. I got mine about 2 weeks ago it is a development version and has the development menu in settings. I unlocked my botloader and rooted using super boot v2 and installed the GSM clockwork, yes GSM clockwork works fully you just need to delete the recovery from boot.p file from system. If you dont every time you want to enter cwm you have to re install it with rom manager. I moved it to the cwm folder in SD card. Now cwm works flawlessly and I was able to make a full nandroid. I gave mike my boot image and system image he is working on building a rom now for LTE models since that's what I have. I will be testing the LTE version for him when he pms it to me.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask I don't mind.

Thanks so much for the info, I was a little worried about VZW being the carrier and controlling updates but looks like it still is a pure google experience, Glad you were able to provide the dump so devs can go to work early! that way when i finally get my device on verizon ill have something to flash.
Yesss. A pure Google phone on the Big Red. Finally! Thanks for this little dump.

Which build is this one? I'm stuck on IFL10B and have noticed a few bugs. Was wondering if your build version might fix them.
4.0 I don't have the build as I am no longer on it. Try flashing adroid revolution hd lte version if you have lte devoce. it is built off my system and boot image

Ics official?

Does anyone know if sprint is going.to release an official ics? Rumors I heard was that early June that we would see an official update to ics?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA Premium App
looks like your new so im not gonna flame you, but just do some reading bro, ICS is the most talked about thing in this forum. A little reading will go a long way.
To answer your question, there is no confirmed date but we have had great running leaked builds for months now.
Well I'm new to Samsung devices sorry was an og evo fan myself
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA Premium App
there have been approx 30 leaked revisions of ICS for our device. We should be seeing it officially any time now.
I would root my phone but honestly like I said I'm new to the gs2 if I had to replace this one already cuz I didn't relize that I flashed international version

Edit:Our device is the epic 4g touch on this forum
If you were able to root you HTC the epic is much easier to root there are one click tools to root the epic in the dev forum sfubs has easy to follow instructions and there are gb based roms and if you want a taste of ICS roms as stated I would root just to get rid of bloatware

[Q] [JB] Dumb Paranoia Question

How do I know that the currently available builds of JB are spyware free? Isn't it possible for someone to have grabbed the image and installed a little backdoor into it or something?
I'm mildly paranoid about getting something that isn't hosted by Google.

Then wait a few weeks when the images are posted.
Edit:
And these guys are recognized developers with OPEN SOURCE roms out there.
Meaning...others can view exactly what goes into their roms.
They aren't out to harm the user.
Your choice.
Any ROM you get could have a backdoor in it. If you download from reputable source and developer, you probably don't have much to worry about.
If you're very tinfoil hat and worried about it, just wait for official images or OTAs from Google.
If you feel that way, why are you even here?

More chance of downloading a rogue app from the play store, and I bet you wouldn't think twice about querying them. Nothing to worry about.

Anyone else skipping roms?

I decided no roms this time around. I want everything to work. I will likely root to get rid of some bloat. Anyone else?

I will say that this is one of the ONLY phones that I ever thought about NOT romming but I doubt I will be able to hold back if something really good comes out...Hello, I am Justin, I am a flashaholic!
GOTTA have root access though... Can't have any company telling me what I HAVE to keep on my phone! :good:
My exact same thoughts. I only rooted to get rid of the bloat. Quick question though. ... im a little nervous... would I still be able to update if tmobile decides to push one even though im rooted?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
I hope not to also but when a new version of android comes out and no update from the carrier then flashing seems like the only option..
Cm10 with S pen functionality is that possible?
Should get rid of CarrierIQ at least =/

Deff agree on that one. But alas, i will miss alot of the OG functions from touchwiz on this phone. Although with GN1, they found work arounds for it. Especially S Note.
My plan is to root as late as I can to avoid messing things up. I figure we won't see an update for a few weeks and by then all the bugs that come along with rooting a phone should be worked out. I really enjoy this phone and can, surprisingly, wait on rooting.

I know when I rooted that if I go to check for a software update it says it won't do it on a modified device so I am pretty sure we won't get OTA's through the rooted devices but you can just wait for someone to post the updated OTA and flash that and your good to go!
Or do you still have stock recovery?
Only rooted for bloat and spyware removal and a nice kernel. But im only flashing stock TW based roms!
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
The only way I will install a custom rom on the note 2 is if they come out with Android 4.1.2 , 4.2, or Key Lime Pie.

I'll still get a custom ROM but only those based on stick for full s pen and camera usage. Can't give those up

Seriously I don't understand why would anyone want aosp roms on this baby when spen features and touchwiz is what makes this phone awesome. To each its own. I just dont want the term flashing hipster to give birth.

I want to root but I want the functionality of ISIS.
So no rooting at this point
Sent From Samsung Galaxy Note II on the TMobile Network
Im either going to wait to root until after the ota for multi window function is sent out or ill root if a rom including it is released first.
