Orange Backup - Sprint LG Optimus G

Anybody try Orange Backup? It now supports TWRP. Just wondering if this has worked for anyone. Thank you.

Cool. Tell us how it goes.

Back up good and is working. The only problem is that the backup goes under ClockworkMod.
I like it you can even chose to put a schedule.
Also you need to update busybox to the newest version.
Other than that all good

Trying it now. What did you pick when it coulden't detect the device. I see a not listed option which I choose. Also I see in preferences you can choose TWRP backups. In the Orange Backup thread here on xda someone suggested to pick nexus 4 since the two are almost the same. But I don't know about that. I am waiting for a reply from the developer on it.

going to check it out. Quite frankly I can't stand Titanium. I always have problems with it.

This will do a nandroid rather the just app backups like titanium. It will do a full nandroid in android without going to recovery.

I chose the don't see my device option. Yes I see the TWRP gonna try it again.

Excellent. Gonna try this out. I might set up a ftp server so I can save the backup to my computer. Instead of google drive or dropbox.

yeah, just realized that

I am still waiting to here back from the dev for orange backup but I think even though it seems to be working we need to install the patch for our phones. If you go to https://github.com/ameer1234567890/OnlineNandroid/wiki/Supported-Devices for onandroid which this basically is but with a gui you will find a file to flash and download for our phone. This from what I read will ensure that the backups go right. If orange backup would recognize our phone correctly it would do this for us.

Exactly. This will also transfer the nandroid to your google drive, dropbox or ftp server. I just set up a ftp serrver with filezilla to transfer and save all the backups to my hard drive.

I like it so far thanks. I especially the schedule. Way better than Titanium Backup but Titanium has backups per app while nan has a batch.

Backing up contacts? Those should be with google good friend. If you're saving them to the phone instead of through Google, well, I don't know why you would do that.
Did you use Titanium Backup at all? That will probably help with apps and their corresponding data. And no, there is no way to get back to your old nandroid without a PC. You HAVE to use Odin to go back to EC05 and from there, after you one-click root, you should be able to restore your nandroid assuming you're still using the same version of CWM you made the backup with.

Thanks for the reply but no unfortunatley I didn't use tb I thought the nandroid was good enough
But anyway do u know why my google accnt won't sign in? It doesn't give me the option to actually choose "google account" like what I'm used to but when it says sing in with ur exchange accnt or whatever then it asks for basically everything again and it says unable to connect to server

If you are using the EpicMTD CM 7.2.0 RC0 Rom, I had the same problem. You need to go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20784134&postcount=1
Scroll down till you see GAPPS and download that zip file and flash it in CWM.

Just one more question about this rom
To get a theme I just download any regular theme from the "themes" forums? Or is there a specific place to get themes for this rom?

Go to the market and search CM7 themes. There are tons!
Just install one and then go into theme chooser and apply it! Simple as that!

[Q]How to read ext4.win files?

Hey all,
I'm wondering how to read / extract a filename.ext4.win file?
Using Wugfresh's Nexus Root Toolkit, i recently flashed AOKP's JB build 2 to my Gnex, and wiped my phone in the process (intentionally).
The phone works great with the new ROM and all. but I forgot that my data folder also got wiped, and with it all my savegames for various apps.
Before flashing I used the tool to make a nandroid ("Nandroid backup /w Custom Recovery"), and I'm guessing I can find the files I need in that backup. The tool saved the backup as [data/cache/system/recovery].ext4.win files.
I have tried using ext2explore to read the data file, but it doesn't show anything.
TL;DR
How can I read a ext4.win file in Windows?
i thought backups were saved in *.tar.

I don't know how it's usually done, but this tool saves it in 4 "ext4.win" files and a "recovery.emmc.win" file.

As it says in OP: yes I used the toolkit (Wugfresh's Nexus Root Toolkit) to make a nandroid, because it makes it easier (for me) to backup, wipe and flash with a single click.
The toolkit's thread is in a dev section, which I'm not allowed to post in due my "noob" status on these forums.
So that was very helpful, thanks.
I tried Linux Reader you linked to, but still no luck.
I says that the filesystem is not supported.
Twrp also saves nandroids in this extension.
Op: use titanium backup to load up the nandroid (menu -> extract from nandroid backup).

Ah Team Win - that's right, it's what the toolkit uses for backups. Thanks.
I had to get the paid version of TB to use the extraction, extracted only data and it worked to some extend. Some of my games got their savegames restored, but e.g. TinyStation did not - Which is the game I'm most eager to restore the savegames to. I also tried to extract app+data for this one, but it didn't work.
But thanks a lot geoff! =)
Not all games work with backup programs. Which really sucks. But tb is a GREAT app to have, especially the purchased version.
BTW, was it a different ROM you flashed or was it an updated ROM you flashed? If it WS an update, you might be able to restore your nandroid and then flash the update.

Sucky. I emailed the developer asking where the savegames are stored, so let's see if they'll be able to help.
Yea, TB is great - definitely my backup app from now on.
It was an updated ROM. I flashed from Kang's JB build 1 to build 2.
But yea, restoring the nandroid and flashing without wiping is the next step, but it ****ed my phone last time, so I was hoping to avoid messing around with it again.
Actually I might just have realized why it didn't work the first time. =)
I'll give then app dev 'till tomorrow, and then I'll restore and reflash.
Thanks again, geoff.

Transfer everything to a new S3

Hey XDA,
I will be receiving a new S3 from T-Mobile tomorrow and was wondering if there are any ways to transfer everything from your old device to your new as if it were the same. My phone is currently rooted and running CM10. Will this cause any problems? Looking for the most efficient and error-free way possible, thank you so much for all your help!
Nandroid.

Meaning the full backups I would do in TWRP right?
Would this cause a problem though if I did this backup and used the exact same file to restore onto a new device? I heard it didnt.
Thanks!

Is your current phone the same as the phone you're getting tomorrow? If they are exactly the same, nandroid is the best way.
+Cool story, bro!
+The "Thanks" you get from me is not just thanks, but can be laughing, props, +1, and so on
Just to be clear, only restore the data portion of the nandroid.
And this is only because you are going to remain on cm10.
If you are going to a different version, or different base, you're best off only restoring certain items, such as contacts.
Titanium backup is also highly recommended.

Presuming you know what nandroid and titanium back up do and also both require you to be rooted.
I would suggest nandroid if your old and new phones are of the same make.
Else use titanium backup back up only the "user" apps and transfer the Titanium Backup folder into your new phone and then restore.
I do the same and frankly for me it is trouble free.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, I will be getting the exact same phone. I just need to flash and root it up once I get it. Will different basebands cause a problem or does that need to be the same as well?
Baseband is your modem which is separate from everything else. It is generally not backed up and you dont have to worry about it.

CWM Restore 4.1.2 to 4.3.1-> Different Phone.

My screen got broken, and I got a new phone from insurance. I was on 4.3.1, and did a CWM backup which was stored in secure area. I used ADB to copy it off to my PC>
I now have my new phone, and it is 4.1.2. I installed CWM, and copied the files from the PC to the Clockworkmod/Backup directory, now on SD card. When I try to restore, I get a MD5 check error. From both backups.
Do you reckon I need to do something special to restore a CWM to a different phone? Or something about the fact it is 4.2.1, and I'm trying to restore a 4.3.1 backup?
Any thoughts appreciated.
Well, I have tried several things. The backup must just be bad. CWM seems to always fail me when I really need it to work.
I would have used TWRP...but my screen was dead, and so couldn't control TWRP.
Sigh...

Well, that link is great. It does indicate how to restore the md5, and get the restore going. However, in my case, the data will not restore. So my CWM backup is no good.
Back to TWRP for me.
Appreciate your help.

Backing up accounts

Is there a way to backup your accounts, so when you wipe the phone, it's easy to reconfigure?

I don't know of any way to back up accounts.
If you have a recovery installed and are rooted you can back up the entire phone but I don't know if just restoring accounts is possible using anything.
I feel your pain. For my company I have many email accounts. It is a pain to add them when I go to a new phone or something.
