I broke the screen on an s3 and just got my new one from Assurion. What is the easiest way to transfer everything from one to the other? Especially sms, pics, etc...
Thanks!

Did you take a Nandroid backup of your phone?
I had the same problem, broke the screen on my first S3, I was able to restore the Nandroid backup I took on the new S3 and it was like nothing changed.
Thanks for following up but it's unrooted. I don't want to root the phones for now.

Sprint store. Or root. Take your pick.
You could move all your files from the internal sdcard to the external... if you have one. And then put the sdcard in the new phone. Pics are on the internal, and prolly your SMS as well.
Sconnie
The most sprint can transfer is contacts I believe anything else you would have to transfer if your data is on your external SD card then u should be fine but as far as SMS you won't transfer those unless u can actually get into the phone and download an SMS backup app or root In my opinion I would just root it will make sure everything transfers

Contacts SHOULD be backed up to Google. You can check by looking at Google contacts on your computer and see if they are there.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync will backup SMS to your gmail in a folder so you can restore them easy.
If you don't have an external SD card to transfer pictures, you can plug your phone up to the computer and get them or use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sweesoft.sweethome to back them up over WiFi.
If you use Apex or Nova launcher you can backup your launcher settings and hone screen layout so that would be an easy restore.
If you want to backup your apps (not the app data) you can use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.infolife.appbackup to copy all of the apks to your SD card which you can then plug up to the computer and transfer them to the new phone for restore.
I think that covers everything. Haha.

Hi all,
I'm thinking about the change the ROM. What is the best way to keep all my apps and files? Can I just backup with Titanium Backup and restore it? I'm not sure if the SD card will be restored too through a factory reset.
I use MyBackup Pro - Paid app but does all the work for you in theory. Backs up everything. Quite cheap for a backup app.
And what's with the SD card? If I'm not completely wrong, I think the SD card is going to be deleted...

Not unless you want it all to be deleted. When I flash a new ROM and wipe data, it doesn't delete the files on it, all my wallpapers are still in there and APK's I want to install.
I use titanium backup, a complete backup tool for root users which works really well
I use titanium, it works great even the free one

Titanium Backup all the way mate.
There is a special partition layout that prevents the SD card (/dev/media) from being wiped. The only exception is if you flash a stock Google ROM - that will wipe the SD card.

my backup root is the way to go saves all apks and data as well as photos, txts, call log, and most settings only have to redo a couple things whenever i flash
also think about using a custom launcher to preserve your homescreen setups, most people are loving NOVA launcher available here in the forums and it allows you to backup all your home screens so that after you push your new rom you wont have to re-set up your shortcuts.
I use both Clockwork and TiBu. I have never flashed a ROM that alsoformats my card, but I suppose its possible.
However, I have not always had good luck with TiBu restoring all icons and widgets. Apps and data always come across fine, except in cases of dramatically different ROM versions, like jumping from Gingerbread to ICS where data like contacts can fail to transfer. No big deal because I just re-sync with Outlook.

For those using MyBackupPro, anyone have issues when backing up just data?
When I select data and use the default directory, /mnt/sdcard, I get "Error during backup:unable to open database file." Using version 3.0.6. I usually just tell it to backup SMS,MMS,Call Log.
Titanium backup synced to Dropbox
I am get this message whenever I plug in my SD card. Whenever I try to format, it just gives the same message. Any idea what this is?

It looks like your SD card is toast. There is a small chance of recovering some files from it, but I wouldn't get my hopes up just yet. It's time to connect it to your PC and use of the many freeware recovery utilities out there.
Good luck to you and I hope you get your data back. I lost all mine like this recently and it isn't fun
try using this

Thanks kenfly.
Good tip and if you have Titanium Backup Pro it's pretty painless to restore what's missing.

The very same thing just happened to me last night- lost everything.
How is Titanium an option when backups are stored on memory card which is now unreadable?

Sorry - I should have said IF you saved your backup to dropbox or copied the backup to a safe spot on your computer. There is also an option to make an "update.zip" where all your apps+data can go but this might be something that only the Pro version offers.
I just bought the SGH-T989 from my Vibrant. Now, I did rooted the phone already but how can I transfer all the apps in my Titanium backup to my new phone? I just want all the app data to restore to my new phone. Thanks!

Do you have the Titanium backup data on the Vibrant's SD card? If so, just move that to the new phone. Also, Titanium has Dropbox capabilities so that also makes it easy to move the files.
Otherwise, just plug the phone into your PC, drag the files over, then drag them to the new phone. Once on the phone and in the Titanium backup directories it will recognize them and makes it easy to restore.

What's the best way to back up my phone and transfer it to my new one? I'm running aokp and nova can I just transfer my nova back up to the new phone? What should I do in tibu though?

Best way to transfer it would be through a nandroid using ext sd card. Otherwise you can use TiBU for USER (backing up system apps is asking for trouble) [apps+data] only.
Nova will only backup your layout and drawer. When you load the nova backup on the new phone it will mirror your exact setup and if there's any apps missing it will simply have a green android icon with the name of the app that was installed on your homescreen (currently not installed).
You'll also want to use google account sync to backup your contacts. Pictures/videos/audio obviously through an ext sd.
I had to backup my GS3 apps when going from root back to stock. For the apps you can find the TiBu folder in the internal storage, copy that to your PC. When you get your new phone- install TiBu, paste the folder back in and you should be able to restore them. Contacts can be restored by syncing with the Gmail account, and photos you should copy to your computer as well. Good luck

Hi all,
I have to make a full backup of my M8.
I want to save, easy-going and at the option of restore all my data after an hard reset, all application and savegames.
I want to restore, automatically, all apps after the first boot and then I want to "copy" the savegames...
1. If I copy all data stored on both memory, will I copy all savegames and cache, right?
2. If it's wrong, what I have to do?
3. HTC Backup/Google Drive Backup can be useful for my aim?
The photos, audios, videos are on MicroSd, and the contacts are on my Google Account.
3. There is anything else to backup?
Thank you in advance,
.Fè

Just do a backup in recovery. Save it to your extSD.
Stock phone, or rooted/modded?

If your personal photos and videos are only saved to your removable SD, than they are not backed up. Even if on the phone's internal storage and backed up to removable SD; I'd still recommend to also back these up off-phone. Either simply by periodically copying them to a computer, or using cloud solutions (which also have the option to backup your photos automatically).
This ^^^^
Never trust only your phone, or SD card to keep your stuff safe.
First af all, thank u everyone.
I don't have a rooted/modded phone, then I can't go in recovery mode and made a full backup.
Then, I've to hard reset my phone, but I want to save anywhere (I have a lots of space on Google Drive) my data, especially savegames, photos and videos...
For the videos and photos, I think that a simple upload to my Cloud could resolve the problem...but, how to save savegames? What are the folder that I have to backup?
Can I use the HTC account/Google Drive account to make a backup of my phone? Is it safe?
After restoring, How can I download, automatically, just the apps that are installed today on my phone?
Thank you
I actually have no idea how HTC Backup works, or if its capable of doing what you want (backing up app data like game saves). I've used Titanium Backup (root required) and nandroids for so long, I never tried HTC Backup.
But I've seen Helium suggested on XDA for non-rooted users to backup app data: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup
Again, I haven't personally used it. But its made by the same dev is Clockworkmod, which is saying something.

Damn...I have an issue with the USB connector and I can't connect my phone to the pc...Now, I can't use Helium because I don't have root and I must connect my phone to pc...

Was this an existing issue you knew about, or something you just discovered? Reason I ask, is that majority of USB connectivity issues are due to drivers on the PC, USB spec on the PC(USB 3.0 doesn't play well), or bad cable.
Or do you know for fact the USB port on the phone is damaged?

I have this issue from 3/4 days, maybe, because I've tested a bad charger with my phone. Now I've slow charge and I can't connect my phone to the pc...
Now, I want to make a backup before send my phone to the assistance..
First of all, I've copied all data from the internal memory to the external one and I will backup all data on the external memory.
Now, I can try to go to "Account and ..." and make a Backup on both HTC Account and Google Account. Savegames doesn't matter by now...
