So just a quick run down the bumper has some tape that prevents contact with the metal. Side buttons are a pita to press due to lip on top plate. As far as signal loss the only thing I notice is where I get really weak 4g I stay on 3g now....by 4g weak I mean where I might get 1mb if im lucky. Overall I love the look and feel of this combo and the slight signal loss is not enough to warrant not using. Have not tested nfc yet.....will update when I have.

Are you having a hard time pressing the power and volume buttons?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Yeah....have to press from the back and that is kinda hard without nails.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Just to let you know, you will eventually have quite a bit of the plastic on the power button chipped off as your using your nails to press it.
I have two Of these bumpers... love them. The buttons isn't really an issue after you get used to them. I would recommend to anyone that isn't a battery swapper. It does add a bit of weight to the phone . But I like that, I doesnt feel like im going to break it.

So I was browsing the Internet on my phone, not touching the rocker and it fell off :-\.... I remember a thread a few months back with fixes for the problem... Can someone who has had this happen to them suggest an effective fix?

Lol, not laughing at your misfortune but I've seen this same thing on a Verizon website. Sadly I didn't see a solution tho I do have one of my own. I've never experienced this problem but you may want to invest in a Trident case. Go on youtube and search xperia play trident case, it's a 3 layer case including a rubber inlay which covers the back half of the phone along with the power button and the volume rocker. My theory is, if you put the volume rocker back in place and then apply the case your volume button should stay in position. Obviously this isn't quite "fixing" the volume rocker but it's probably the next best thing next to getting a whole new phone that is. I do in fact own this case tho and might i say it's the best case available for the xperia play without a doubt. Typically Outter Box is the leader in phone cases but they dropped the ball on the XP. The trident case is super protective, makes pressing buttons easier, increases grip, has designs and grip for air circulation and style, 1 year warranty and a water resistance paint job. At this point is sounds like I work for the damn company but no seriously this case is superb. I got mine from amazon last October and it's held up with very minimal wear & tear.
Recently received my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 from T-Mobile's Online Store. I noticed that the Volume Button and Power Button moves a little bit, particularly more prominently the volume button. Do you all have this similar feel. Is this normal?
My volume and power button are a bit loose than I would like. But as long as it works and doesn't get worse over time. Then I'm ok with it. But I also would like to get others opinion on this also.
Yep, mine are both loose also. I think you'll find most everyone's has some wiggle/play to them.

Same here, but I'm using the official Samsung case and it covers the buttons and provides a nice firm feel. You might want to try that case.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
Well; its good to know everyone is experiencing the same, thus normal in this case. It also depends on what area you place your finger or thumb. Sometimes if I place my finger at the extreme extent of the lower volume button, you can sometimes feel a slight squeak. Though, very rarely, people will put their finger/thumb there.
Massaging the Buttons also helps. Its the material that is used; we all know. Good old plastic. This phone doesn't heat as much compared to iPhone 5. Note 2 > iPhone 5, any day. Note 2 produced very less heat. Amazing Plastic, seriously.
1st of all iam a die hard samsung fan ever since the epic 4g touch so this isnt someone just lookin for something stupid to complain about lol. One thing that bugs me is when ever im using one hand to handle my note which is my right hand i go to press power up or down its a natural reflex to hit power with my thumb. And with the design of the buttons the way they are i really cant help to have my thumb over power button. I know a flygrip could solve my issue but really dont want to put one on my UAG. im 6ft 5 and can palm s basketball easily so size of phone isnt an issue. Just wondering if anyone else has this issue?

I like it better on the side. Makes locking the screen far easier one handed.
Sorry gotta disagree with ya. Love the power button on the side especially for these large screens.

Power button on the side. If you would like it on top pretty sure htc has alot of phones with that.

Resistance is futile.....you will be assimilated.
On the side for me
Sent from a galaxy note 2 far far away...
On the side, it would be much more harder to unlock/lock the phone if it was on the top of the device. Imo, would make it difficult for one handed use especially with the already big screen size.
I prefer it on top.

at least they moved it down a little.. it was higher on the e4gt and it was always getting pressed accidentally. side is better though imo. easier to turn off and on.
If Samsung puts it on top, Apple will sue.

i think the other companies should start putting their power buttons on the side.
I like it on the bottom myself... Wait, we're talking about phones??
I accidentally press the volume buttons on occasion so it should be a little lower, but I like it on the side.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
i like the side until i try a level app and try laying phone on side, either side.idk maybe move it to the same side as volume,i think that might suit my grip better.
on a different note,i like charging port on bottom but how about a 90 degree end on charger so when you are laid back and resting a charging phone on you it doesnt feel like you are going to break the charging port.

Ummmm...... Ok....
Power button on top or side is fine.... I can adjust. I won't die if it's on any side
Apple would probably try to sue Samsung for it lol.
Cause Apple is a company full of idea stealing, lawsuit making hipsters.

Power on the side works out great for me since my car dock only grabs the top & bottom. If the power button was on top the car dock clip would always be pressing it.

Yet where it is now I do often turn the screen on unintentionally and bring up the power/reboot dialog unintentionally.
There is no magic spot anywhere on the device that will not get in the way or be inconvenient for someone.

I'd say the top myself. I did like that on the HTC phones. I've gotten used to it now though. I'm 6'3 myself and can also palm the ball. So this phone doesnt seen big to me. If it goes a little bigger I'll def. be ok with it
No

No, right hand, right thumb, right SIDE! Otherwise it would be a HTC, and we all no matter how sweet they look they are not Samsung! Which is why we are all in this Forum ....
I too prefer it on the top, except with this large phone. It makes sense due to the largeness. However, it's nearly impossible to hand an Android phone to an iPhone user without them pushing SOMETHING on the phone. Forget about sharing pictures, ha. Power button on the top would help with that, but it's a minor complaint. I still want real buttons for the home/back/menu area, they're too easy to press by accident. But I think I'm in the minority here.
I find it very difficult to wake the phone with the power/wake button. Just the angle of the bezel and how flush the IR button is makes it much more of a chore compared to any other phone I've used. Does anyone know of a case that can remedy the situation? I don't care if it covers the IR.
I bought the poetic case off amazon (3rd revision) and it doesn't help with the flush power button issue. Since no one responded I'll keep updating as I get more cases. Sad.
I don't know how tough it is to remove the old poetic case (since everyone seem to gush about how difficult it is) but I don't find it very hard. Simply pry open one corner then expand the gap and it pops off pretty easily. I much rather have a tight case than a lose one *wink*
Currently waiting on basal case. Don't know if I should just exchange then phone because of the recessed button.
I came across this:

I have one for my One S, and honestly it's junk. Its hard to put in your pocket because its grippy, and it collects lint constantly.
The rubber inside feels cheap, and loose around the sides where there is no support.
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
Well thanks for that lool
Here is my remedy for the power button and its awkward position. Never use it. Find a kernel with swipe to wake and then I use a sleep widget on the home screen to sleep. I double tap the bottom of the screen to wake it up. Works perfectly
I got the urban armor gear one off of ebay

Yep the basal case sucks too. I actually flashed cyanogenmod nightlys and use the swipe to unlock feature. Got to swipe all the captivate buttons kinda like iPhone. Unfortunately there is a slight lag but that'll probably get cleared up when more stable releases are out.

That's because it is made of silicone. That's one material I hate... yes, even in the other way.

Hmmm... for the time I'm running CM 10.1, I'm using volume wake and hold menu to lock. I'm sure it saves battery life because the capacitive panel is off when asleep. Plus when I had S2W enabled, it seemed that I could never get it right the first time.
Agreed, I too also had this case on my one s and it's really crappy and too loose in the areas where the hard plastic doesn't wrap the case
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
The urban armor gear makes the volume button so much better than without it, though the wake button stays the same maybe even abit worse..
Let me pre qualify this by stating that I have never dropped or hit my phone on anything hard. I'm meticulously careful with it.
When I gently tap the phone, I hear a "rattle" inside, near the top/camera area where...if I shake it, I swear it sounds like something is loose inside.
Everything works perfectly, camera works fine, no issues to report on this amazing phone.
Anyone have this same behavior? Any ideas?
Thanks!
Mine has a slight rattle. So did my lgog. I believe what you are hearing is the volume buttons.

I have had that rattle too. I just did a very scientific test after you mentioned the volume buttons: I took it out of my tpu case, and shook it so I could hear the rattle. Then, I place a finger on each of the buttons and noticed the rattle went away after touching the power button. So, I think in my case, the power button was the culprit.
Thanks for the suggestion of the volume buttons! I, like the OP, had thought something was loose inside the camera housing or something, but if it's just the button, I'm not too concerned.
I took mine out my case and I don't have a rattle if I shake it..I even made sure not to be touching the volume buttons and still no rattle.
Guys it's the Volume buttons. It happens on all new phones that use plastic housing for the volume buttons. Goes all the way back to the Samsung Infuse, GS2, GS3, LGOG and LGOG Pro. If you can find hard-rubber ones it will go away and never come back.
No rattle here ? ?

Wow, just saved me from returning my unit to ATT. I held the buttons then did my "shake test" again. No more rattle!
thanks for the heads up
