Completely stock? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

How do I go back to complete stock again?
I'm a consultant... ask me anything... I'll run away.

Try this: http://www.andromods.com/unroot-locking/how-to-restore-samsung-galaxy-note-2-to-stock-rom-firmware-with-odin.html

flash the stock root66, run triangle away, factory reset in recovery, flash the untouched UVALJ1 Odin.
I would never follow a guide from somewhere else than XDA, most of those sites use XDA links without giving credit or support if something goes wrong.

[Q] Bad root stuck on samsung flash screen help

I am able to use a jig to get into download mode. According to the stickie thread i need to make sure my counter is at zero. well its at (1) How do i do that if the device wont load completely?
according to the guide....
3. Put your phone into download mode. (Confirm that the count is set at 0)
4. Odin like you normally would.
How do i reset counter IN DOWNLOAD mode??
Thread title is misleading. Root, even when done improperly, will not cause the problem you are having.
To answer your question, you cannot reset the flash counter from download mode. What did you do to make you think you bricked your phone?

If you want to reset your phone back to factory stock with the counter being at zero, Odin back to ICS (root 66) then use Triangle Away (You can find it somewhere in the forums). Afterwards, check for system update so you could update the firmware to JB or you could just Odin Stock JB.

i tried updating jb it didnt work said failed. I am used triangle away and am now trying ota rootkeeper and i temp am unrooted hoping this works. if it doesnt where do i get stock JB? and do you reccomend a rom?
Don't worry about keeping root. Just reflash SuperUser/SuperSU with CWM/TWRP. If you lose your recovery, reflash it with Odin. Don't use TriangleAway until you're done messing around with the phone.
For roms, if you want TW, I would pick FrostyJB or AeonFluxx. I personally don't use TW roms, but if I did, it would be one of those. I like those two because they don't have a thousand unnecessary mods (imo). The developer's taste will invariably be different than mine. For AOSP, CyanogenMod 10.1, my personal favorite. Been using 10-10.1 for months. All available on these forums. But for reference, stock roms can be found here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=SGH-T999&pcode=TMB&os=1&type=1#firmware or mrRobinson's pre-rooted stock.

[Q] Factory Reset back to stock?

long story short: I screwed up my D2CAN (Telus) with a D2ATT recovery, flashing a ported ROM from a Sprint S3 (MSG_Chubz ROM)
Now if somone wouldn't mind sharing some knowledge on how i can go about going back to complete Stock, i'd be forever greatful...
I am hoping to return to stock using Odin, and then want to Re-Root so I can flash stuff safely again.
Can someone suggest how I can go about doing this, without bricking my phone?
So in a nut shell: Would i basically Flash the (.tar) file I used to root my phone in the first place, with Odin?
Then after that, restore, or re-download the recovery of my choice, or is it a tad more complicated then I'm thinking?
Your thinking is correct. Flash the correct rooted carrier firmware, boot into stock recovery and wipe data and cache. Then proceed with a custom recovery via goo manager or rom manager. Make a backup

Yes, simply flash that in ODIN. It happened to me on my D2ATT. All I did was flash in ODIN and everything worked perfect on Stock again. NOTICE thought that this will most likely unroot your phone, or at least that's what happened to me.

Not if he uses a rooted firmware tar...like I mentioned already. You must have used unrooted stock. I understand that you're trying to build the 10 posts that you need to be able to post in the development section, but please don't post in a thread just to post. Cheers
All I needed to do was flash the proper modem for 1747m (d2can), and now phone calls and texts work perfectly again.
Thanks for the suggestions and help everyone.

I am not savvy at all in this.... There are no step-by-step instructions on how to do it?
What if I just hit the factory reset on it now?
It will just delete data, but the phone will still be rooted and still have the modifications to the system, if any. Just flash a custom recovery and then flash the correct rom from the link above. It really doesn't take long.
BY THE WAY, if you are selling it you should go activate it in the store instead of shipping it off, as that's the only way to get all your Sprint PCS info off the phone

I have almost the same issue here. I flashed the CosmicCM to try and decided to revert back to original. Althogh I managed to flash the original firmware through ODIN, it is stuck in Samsung logo after reboot. Need help.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, after that, I discovered that the recovery had reverted back to the original too. Then I did a wipe data reset, wipe cache partition, and started booting, and "voilá"! I'm back to business again.
A little search, by luck, got me to this post:

Hmmm, I see... good reference too. But this tutorial supose you have the original firmware running ok. Remember that I flashed CWM, then flashed CosmicCM and decided to revert back and got stuck at samsung logo glowing, glowing. I guess the post I quoted will be more helpfull to cases like mine.
Anyway, thanks.

as far as i know, when u revert back to rooted stock rom from custom rom, there's a chance of getting bootlooped, but if you dont mind rooting again, you can flash Original stock from using Odin then root again. it's easy to root than to fix bootloop. :good: goodluck.

Thanks, but I solved the problem already.
@richterxx
Perhaps the problem is with the procedure on how to flash with odin. There is plenty of material on how to do it. But if you follow the instructions of the post I linked to you it will work. Good luck.
Try changing kernel
There sometimes occur problem with kernel in reverting back, u should try installing the stock kernel then the stock ROM as custom rom usually install their own kernel with them.....Hope it works
