crackling noise on Headset and speakers - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

so recently my samsung galaxy s3 has been making a cracking noice, at first i thought it was the headset i had so i just switched those out, but it didn't fix the problem.
My phone is rooted and im running a custom ROM
is there solution to fix this?

If it's not your head phones it could be the head phones Jack
Google for a way to clean it
Also you could have messed up using a mod like bats audio app or volume plus

Are you using Bluetooth or what kind of headset? And what ROM are you on?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2

the tom i am currently using is JellyBomb ver. 13.0.0 [LJ7], also im not using Bluetooth im just using some Skull Kandy headset and Beats Audio Head set and they both have this cracking noise, yet when i use my other Samsung Galaxy S3 it doesn't make the cracking noise, so i have no clue if my current S3 is just creating this noise for no reason.

Are you using volume+? That app has caused me audio problems in the past. I would check DSP levels too, make sure you don't have anything jacked up to high.
Also, are you using any other sound processors like Beats audio? I really feel that your culprit lies somewhere in the sound processing and/or settings. And from my personal experience I recommend staying away from things like Beats and V+.

I wipe and clear everything then re flash my phone but I keep getting this noise.

Sound output on CM7 & MIUI beta roms

I think the volume increments are pretty broken. I've been using CM7 and I use my phone in the gym. It's been pretty irritating

If a factory reset doesn't fix it, an exchange will be necessary
I have it too.
The other guy was right I fixed it by flashing this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776422

I'm using with power amp and sound great with the same rom
Posted a Beats Audio with Dolby Mobile review using my SG2 with Clones/Drones v3 ROM and Bose IE2 headset.

Update... Although it plays audio with very impressive results, it causes hang time when attempting to make a call. Fix permission or reboot will temporary solve the problem but hang time will not go away.
This thing is awesome I use it on Jedi mind v8 and my music sounds great with poweramp and my beats head set

Flashed 3 other ROMs but keep coming back to Clones/Drones v3.. This time, tested with Awesome Beats v3 for 36 hours and had zero issues.

Running for days on XTREMEPERIA with no issues. Don't even need Beats headgear for it to sound amazing. The Samsung ear buds do great! Lol
I have the hang and/or no sound on phone calls with the rezound Dolby addition. Was going to manually move files over to see if a lib was replaced causing the issue, but didn't bother after seeing so many in the zip.

Recent ROMs that depend on DSPManager have terrible audio quality

Has anyone else noticed this? I've tried LiquidSmooth RC8, the latests Paranoid Android, and the newest SlimROM. They all must be based off the same ROM, because audio quality is equally horrendous. I notice that in the Settings > Sound that there is an option to select between MusicFX and DSPManager. However, none of these applications seem to have any affect over the audio, whatsoever. I am surprised that the BASE audio wouldn't be the same as every other ROM. Shouldn't these EQ/DSP add-ons just allow you to modify the stock flat-EQ? Most people would probably want a flat EQ anyways, because their audio ends up on the car stereo, or some other device that already has these controls.
With that said, are you guys noticing the same thing? I absolutely cannot get Pandora or Spotify (haven't tried any others because I don't care,) on these new ROMs. I hope this isn't what the latest CM10 offers, because I am about to flash to that now.
Oh man, I just loaded up the latest CM10 stable and it has the same problem... At least DSPManager can modify the EQ for the entire system, not app-specific. Even still, it sounds nowhere near as good as it did before. While I'm flashing my phone I am playing feeding the same Beacon "The Phoenix" audio cube on my desk with my Transformer TF300T and it is shaking the whole surface with bass, and sounds very full. I played with all the EQ settings, and went manual and got nothing remotely close using my S3 with these ROMs.
Just restored my CM10 11/7/2012 nightly and it has flawless audio over bluetooth--but other issues like missed calls, etc
You silly op you.that's backwards dspmgr is simply part of the general aosp experience and all aosp roms recently developed that bug
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I dug through quite a view AOSP-based ROM threads and could not find anything. I don't understand how anyone could possibly use these ROMs with that horrifying bug?
Freeze or uninstall DSPmanager then install a new audio engine (I use team AC!D's), problem solved.
EDIT: I've never had that happen before but I always freeze that app and I've been using AC!D audio mod since the beta for this phone.

Hate to say it but it's unrelated and all over the cm10 thread

I just bought power amp and all of my songs are extremely low quality. This doesn't seem to be a problem on aokp for my cousins s2. Wonder if its an s3 only deal.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Its terrible...I cant even use any of these ROMS because of this!
I don't have issues over wire, but Bluetooth is borked in aosp. Due to the transition to 4.2 don't expect quick fixes so.... I moved to a tw rom mainly because of bt and ril related battery drain.......
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Is this supposed to be a 'feature?' If so? They should remove DSPManager and let us decide. I would always prefer some flat EQ so that I can process it elsewhere.
I have 2 sg3's one Jelly Bombed and one CM10 based. Side by side TW BT sounds better. 1 fix for CM10 is after starting BT audio go to your phone and make a call (I just dial 123) then hang up as soon as it connects. Viola, bass is back and audio is tolerable... hope this helps you out

[APP] Beats Audio Installer v2.3.1

Hey all. My N3 is sitting at UPS for a Monday delivery. Cant freaking wait.
I have this.apk on my rooted VZW Galaxy Nexus, and it works perfectly.
This app enables a Beats Audio-like profile when your headphones are inserted.
Would someone like to try and install on their stock rooted N3 and post back results?
I didn't make or develop this app. Have had it for a while but no clue where I got it from (somewhere here on XDA).

Not yet. I'll give it a go on Monday when I get my device.
Figured I'd throw it up on here since I see many people complaining about sound quality.
Be sweet if this worked. No flash either, just a side load .apk install.

Please explain how this works when the device has no beats or capability for it? This is a perfect example of a placebo

This app installs the beats 'drivers' or some other type of audio driver. On my Galaxy Nexus (also Samsung) this absolutely worked.
It activates when you put the headphones in.
Maybe its just a generic ultra bass driver that it installs. But whatever it does, it just works.
Noticible difference in crisp deep lows with this installed versus uninstalled
So this app isn't yours, you have no idea what it does, and if it's like you say and it installs "drivers" then it's installing proprietary HTC drivers on a Samsung phone. Yeah - all of those add up to a bad idea.
Plus Beats is a kernel implementation which Samsung legally itself can't use - so yeah - any "improvement" is going to be negligible if any at all - falling into placebo category.

Basically, beats has 2 parts; hardware and a software EQ. Beats hardware is basically when the manufacturer uses higher quality components and places them on a separate PCB to keep interference (crosstalk) down. The second, the software part of beats makes the default audio profile "duller" by lowering some frequencies. Then they tweak the second "beats" EQ profile with slightly "crisper" sound by basically adjusting the mids and highs upwards a bit. This results in more of a difference when switching back and forth between the beats on and off settings. You can pretty much achieve the same effect by messing with the built in EQ if there is no actual beats hardware.
The beats audio has been modded to work with non HTC crap phones for ever. Thank you for sharing.
NOTE 3
Just trying to lend a hand.
Have been reading that people are having issues with headphones mucking up the audio in some way.
If nothing else maybe this could help fix.
Even with the EQ settings on Google music I could never get my nexus to sound as good as with these drivers.

Maybe you shouldn't call it a driver but an audio profile. I think that would put people at ease. Some people might be on edge since development is slow right now and we got off to a rocky start with the whole brickloop drama.
Good tip. Edited OP.
what do you think its actually doing with an install size of 1.6mb?
Also - did you try it?

I looked into it on my Note 2 and when I tore down the apk, it basically revealed a bunch of audio settings. Some were EQ settings, some were profiles for headphones, phone speaker etc. There are no drivers since we don't have any applicable hardware on these phones.
Doesn't work for me, just breaks third party audio apps that use the audio settings feature. The stock Samsung app has its own EQ. I suspect it's trying to do the same thing DSP Manager does on CM ROMs but all it did on mine was crash things. There's no uninstaller either which sucks, so backup or Odin if you want to remove it.

Check in system/bin with root explorer, and delete the two "beats files" and reboot and u should be fine.

Whenever I've used beats apk it never worked with the stock music player nor video nor YouTube...however with third party music apps it replaced the native eq and in my opinion it worked very well. Beats+nexmusic or beats+Apollo was a nice combo. Just my 2ยข

I found a zip for DSP Manager, installed it manually since I haven't installed a recovery yet, fixed perms manually, works great.
