You just need to do the following steps to get back GPS on your T-Mobile GS3
1. Install TriangleAway here. Thanks to Chainfire.
2. Open TriangleAway, reset flashing counter (you must have root access)
3. Download original unrooted firmware for T-Mobile Galaxy S3 (T999UVALEM) here. Thanks to SamMobile
4. Boot your phone into Download Mode (Volume down + power + home) and flash the firmware above via ODIN
5. If you have bootloop after flashing, remove battery, boot your phone into Recovery Mode by holding volume up + power + home (should be stock recovery because custom recovery will be lost), wipe data (factory reset) + wipe cache
6. When your phone finishes rebooting, you will see the GPS has been fixed and worked perfectly.
7. Upgrading to the latest JB 4.1.1 by flashing the rooted firmware by DocHoliday77 here. GPS still works.
Please thanks if this post is helpful.

Ok so this firmware is unrooted right? But does it also revert you back to stock recovery? Or will it keep whatever recovery I'm on? I'm thinking of trying this with mobile odin but want to make sure that i keep twrp so i can reroot after installing this.

You will lost root access. But you can flash TWRP recovery after step #7.
Enable USB debugging on your phone and connect it to your PC
Download the latest version of TWRP recovery here. Thanks to TeamWin.
adb push openrecovery-twrp-2.3.3.1-d2tmo.img /sdcard/openrecovery-twrp-2.3.3.1-d2tmo.img
adb shell

It worked great for me. Just make sure you follow the steps exactly and you'll be fine.
Didn't work for me. I think maybe my GPS antenna is busted. I have a warranty replacement coming in today.
Man! I swear! Let me tell you guys something.
I got my replacement today.
I flashed a ROM, lost my IMEI (on my second phone... for those wondering, I'm use TWRP) along with GPS.
Went back to a Root77 ROM.
Restored my 4G and now all of a sudden I have GPS. I can navigate again.
On the old phone, I traveled six hours to Dallas on Sunday for two interviews Monday. You can imagine me on Sunday evening when I realized the GPS was screwed.
I'm heck of paranoid to do anything with this phone now.

Actually mine came back on. I had flashed the Galaxymod ported rom and it started working on it. I had it for a few days then flashed back frosty and gps stopped working. Then I ended up flashing Synergy rom and again my gps started working. I ended up having to many problems with it so I flashed back to frosty only this time my gps still worked. Have been back on Frosty for a week and my gps is still working prefect.

Did the same thing, was told that if you flash the Synergy Rom it will bring back your GPS, it worked for me as well, connecting fast as ever too! It's worth a try

To OP: How do the instructions differ with the new OTA rom? I want to update, but I now kind of rely on my GPS and Data working 100%.
Confirmed! This process works 100%.
Not sure why it works, but who cares, right?
Might be a setting in the build that custom roms screw up. I just know for some time being on custom roms, my GPS is unable to lock on. But I screwed up 4.2.1 custom rom downgrade back to 4.1.X due to 4.2's profile architecture, so I ended up completely ODIN back to stock to start over. My GPS works again now and I went back to a custom rom and it still works.
---
Side question... regarding flash counter, I been doing some searching. Is this necessary? I understand if warranty work needs to be done, Samsung will reject the device if flash count is >0, but some ppl are complaining about having an unlocked bootloader with a unlock icon during boot. I don't have that?
GPS works again woohoo!
Only problem is, triangle away didn't work for me (it said it was successful) but when in download mode my flash count is now 2? 0.o

so maybe i missed something, how do you loose GPS? are TW roms loosing GPS? ive been using AOSP roms and have no issues with GPS at all
I had the same thing- GPS ate it, started working again randomly, then ate it again, even after following the steps in this post. I got my RMA'd replacement today, and I'm not about to load anything custom on it until the warranty is long out and whatever is causing this problem is resolved.

Hey guys, so I was installing Chainfire 3D last night and on the reboot my phone got stuck at the Note 2 logo and wont go any further.
I've tried a full wipe from CWM and no dice!
I need your help to fix this asap as I have no internet at home and am in an internet cafe at the moment trying to fix this
Chainfire 3D won't work on jellybean....
Your only options are as follows:
1) boot to recovery and restore a nandroid assuming you took one?
2) flash a rom with ODIN (not sure if any of the custom roms can be odin flashed?)
3) wipe and flash a rom with recovery
4) use KIES to save and restore your device.

Hay man im waiting to confirm if your note is back alive !!!!!
His note will be fine, using CF3D just causes a bootloop, a wipe and reflash always fixes it.
Hey all, as Lenny said everything is working fine over here after flashing the ROM through ODIN - it's back from the dead!
Thanks to all at XDA for saving my precious Note 2
Would this be consider a 1st soft brick on the GN2? Congratz is in order?
My Note 2 got stuck on the boot screen. After the Samsung animation goes away and only the SAMSUNG word appears nothing happens. The SAMSUNG word only changes it's brightness and that is it.... The problem is I have many tasks saved in the S Planner and since those tasks are not synced to any server doing a factory reset isn't the best option because I will lose all my tasks and there are some task due to 03/2013... I can't remember them all :crying:

So I am on Stock jelly bean which I downloaded the OTA from here and I am rooted. After installing the wifi mod I went to start it and it keeps asking for superuser permissions over and over. Then it said something about you phone is operating at a unstable state please reboot you phone and now it will not bootup, it gets to the Samsung word after the sprint logo and stays there. I have tried booting into safe mode by holding down left button at logo, by tapping it while it boots. Nothing. Any help would be appreciated.
What the hell this cant be coincidence.
I really need data from an app any suggestions?

Ok lets assume you have a nice clean completely stock ATT S3 that is rooted. I do have nandroid and titanium backups and I do have the google wallet hack working, and froze most bloatware..but this is all I have done to the phone.
What if any is the best way to slap the JB update on here without loosing a thing? I mean loose nothing, games, contacts no resetup of anything, just update to 4.1.1?? Am I dreaming here? If its not possible, what is the easiest way to get updated and back up to my existing state without having to reinstall and resetup everything?
Please dont ask why not put just custom rom instead, I have never found one that at least one small detail was not working or complete, so lets not go there, I want just a rooted ATT JB update to what I already have.
Update through Kies and you won't lose anything except for root. Re-root with CF auto root.
I did the above with a bunch of frozen ATT crap and everything was good.
Make sure you backup your data just in case.

I also flashed with Oden over a stock setup and it left all data there except the root.
tried kies on 2 laptops and a pc still no go. re downloaded kies a few times and still nothing. tried all the usb ports too.

Ok got JB via Kies easy enough, and rooted with CF...I get 3 apps that are getting errors on boot, Poweramp, Titanium BU and Torrent....
The other issue Im having is trying to get GW back on there , it was removed...so in order to do this I need CWM back on here but can figure out how I used the Qcom toolkit the lasttime and its not ready for JB yet the page says....so whats the easiest way to get CWM back on to load wallet back on?
I did the exact same thing I did with ICS. I flashed JB with kies, and i've flashed with ODIN (wanted to reflash).
I then used ODIN to flash the a cwm recovery (older version). Then I rebooted into the recovery and installed super SU. Started the phone and used terminal emulator to install the latest touch recovery for the phone. Rebooted and installed wallet just like I did with ICS. First the fix, then the wallet app. change your prop and follow instructions.

I used ODIN to flash Mr. Rogers pre-rooted stock JB over my rooted ICS and everything seemed to work just fine. No problems yet. I was curious though since I still have CWM as my recovery (according to ROM Manager) and I thought I would lose that. Anyway, device status went back to "normal" after the flash. I haven't checked the flash counter yet to see if it is back to 0 yet. I'm still trying to figure all this out. This was only the 3rd time I'd flashed anything and I was still nervous! I haven't noticed any extra battery drain or anything yet.
Can anyone tell me, after you boot into download mode to check the flash counter, how do you reboot if your not actually gonna flash anything?
Thanks,
Matt

Mobile Odin and Rogers file is easiest.
If you used Odin and Mr. Rogers pre-rooted stock to go from ICS to JB you will increment the flash counter as soon as you go into your custom recovery. If you use Mobile Odin, than you will not increment the flash counter. This information is in the most current posts: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426.
I didn't care about the counter but didn't want to reflash TWRP recovery so I used Mobile Odin and didn't flash the recovery, cache, or Everoot. Fast, easy, and I liked having my Nandroid backup available if something went wrong.
I thought about using moble Odin, but had never used it before and only downloaded it yesterday for future use. So I'm assuming that Mr. Rogers pre-rooted stock didn't flash the stock recovery? ROM Manager still shows that I have CWM installed. I did check with Triangle Away and it shows a count of 2 and binary as "official". I haven't booted back into download mode to check the counter because I wasn't sure what the process for rebooting was if I wasn't flashing something new. I'm a total beginner, so I hope everyone is patient!
Thanks for the help.
Hi all, hope you are doing well (I also hope that you can help me ).
I just recently got a replacement phone because my other one had a faulty speaker (crackling, etc.). The other one was rooted (via CF-AutoRoot) and had TWRP on it, and I made a complete nandroid backup of it onto my MicroSD card.
I rooted the new phone using CF-AutoRoot via Odin and installed TWRP on it as well (also via Odin). Then I swapped the SD card and SIM card and restored the complete backup to the new phone.
It took a while, but the phone booted up and I had two working clones, the only way to tell which was which was by changing the volume and hearing the crackling on the old one.
So the new phone worked all day (was able to make calls and everything, and the GUI that was customized with Wanam Xposed even looked good), however when I restarted it to put in my backup battery, I didn't have root for some reason. I tried and tried to get it back (reinstalled SuperSU, tried the TWRP method) to no avail.
I re-flashed CF-AutoRoot just to see, and the phone booted up but and for some reason SuperSU was gone (and I didn't have root). When I restarted, I got a boot loop and could not even get back into a recovery.
I got tired of this and wanted a fresh start, so I just flashed the stock ROM via ODIN and did a factory reset. However now if I try to boot, the Samsung logo will flash and just shut down, and I won't be able to get into the recovery no matter what. If I flash a recovery (CWM, TWRP or even stock), the recovery will work until I try to actually try to boot the phone. I've tried taking the battery out for a good 5 minutes and retrying (also tried swapping batteries), I've tried doing complete resets galore from all three recoveries mentioned with no success. Obviously Download mode still works so I know it's not completely bricked, but I am getting a little scared.
Any and all help is extremely appreciated as I would prefer not to have such an expensive paper-weight.
Thanks a bunch!
I would suggest going all the way back stock on stock firmware via Odin. Then re-root, TWRP, and re-download the rom of your choice. Dont restore the backup. Just start fresh.

Thanks for the reply.
And okay, I tried that.
I flashed stock using the T-Mobile ROM I found here: galaxys4root_(dot)_com/galaxy-s4-stock-firmware/
This is the same ROM file I used to completely restore the phone I had to return, and that worked fine.
But it still won't boot up or go into recovery mode (just shows the Samsung logo for a split second before shutting down).
One thing I did do on the other phone was flash a kernel which had set-MUID to off so I could WiFi tether, but I thought flashing the stock ROM would revert that back as well. Do you think that's the reason it messed up so badly? I restored the backup from the other phone with a different kernel? Right after I restored the backup to the new phone and everything was working, I remember checking the kernel info in the About Phone section of the settings, and it was in fact the kernel I'd installed on the other phone.
TLDR: Tried flashing stock ROM to no avail. Download mode still works but can't enter recovery mode or boot.
Are you doing a factory reset after flashing stock firmware?

Well, for the first problem, flashing the stock ROM did it for me. I followed this tutorial.
For the second issue of not booting up after displaying the Samsung logo; my battery just simply was too dead and didn't have enough juice to start. You have no idea how stupid I felt.
Let your phone charge from the wall cable for a good while before trying all this again; then see if that works. It did it for me. If it doesn't, I'm not sure what else to try.
After that (if it works), if you still want root, just flash CF-Auto-Root and then a custom recovery if you want (like ClockworkMod Recovery (click the little version link, not the "Download ROMs" button) or TWRP via GooManager) (I use TWRP)
All the best and let me know how it went!
Keep in mind that I did this on an SGH-M919 (T-Mobile S4) running Android 4.2.2, so if you don't have that, I have no idea if any of the above will work for you. Also I'm pretty sure if you do have 4.3, you will ruin your warranty forever due to the Knox restriction they added (if you haven't already).

Having trouble unbricking M919 T-Mobile
Hi, I'm trying to unbrick my M919 through Odin. I have all the updated software, but I keep getting a fail message. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello everyone,
After a long fight to try and get this phone back to normal, everything seemed good,
except not really
I started on a buggy CM11 version. Sick of it, I downloaded a 4.4.4 stock rom. I had to disable firewall and defender, but I got Odin to flash my md5. I got through everything and it booted successfully. After signing in and all that jazz, I find out that my WiFi isn't working. After a few reboots, My 4G finally works and everything seems to be steady.
Then, after exploring the rest of the phone I find out that all my apps from last ROM are still there. I know that you are supposed to wipe before flashing, but I was told that Odin will take care of that. It obviously didn't.
After THAT, I try to boot into Recovery as the next sensible step is to try to wipe my data and cache. I turn the phone off and press (Vol up + Home + Pwr) and the first boot screen shows for a moment. It says in blue "RECOVERY BOOTING" in the corner. Right after, it disappears and in another second it does the same screen without the "RECOVERY BOOTING". And as presumed, it does a regular boot.
What did I miss? How can I wipe my phone from recovery? How can I fix my problem with Wifi?
Reflash in Odin.
Make sure you have the correct stock rom. If you flash the "md5" you may have flashed the wrong thing. The md5 is not tge firmware, that is just the code that verifies your firmware file is not corrupted.
If your old apps were still there, you flashed the wrong thing. There is no way to flash stock firmware in odin and not wipe the data partition.
You are correct then
Yeah, I flashed a tar.md5 in Odin. It gave me a new ROM but all my apps are there. After all that, I still can't go to recovery. I tried using the terminal and ROM Toolbox to go there, both didn't work. Can I just leave it as it is and find a way to recovery or is the only way to go to bootloader and flash a correct file to get to recovery?
Flash twrp and see if it will reboot into recovery, then factory reset and flash latest firmware with Odin right after. Odin will NOT wipe data. It has to be done manually

It depends on what you ate flashing.
If you are flashing a full stock factory image it will wipe user data. If you are just flashing a system partition it won't.

Hello everyone,
After a long fight to try and get this phone back to normal, everything seemed good,
except not really

How do I know whatever I download is deodexed? And I went to a page of ROMs someone gave me and I downloaded the NK2 version, which also gave me a tar.md5. If I want the correct thing to flash, what should I flash?

The first post of any customized stock rom will tell you if its deodexed. If it doesn't say it...its not.
@Essem G:
Any updates for us? I'm following this thread because I have similar problems with my WiFi not working after upgrading from 4.2.2.
Any luck getting TWRP flashed?
Also I believe that the stock firmwares do come as tar.md5's, as in the file: M919UVUFNK2_M919TMBFNK2_M919UVUFNK2_HOME.tar.md5 from ShinySide's stock firmware thread.
As for the WiFi issue, from the hours of reading I've done it looks like this problem occurs when you upgrade your firmware, but it no longer matches the bootloader. Such as bootloader (Baseband) showing MDL, but Build Number showing NH7, NK2, etc. What does your show?
This thread may be of use to you when you get back to a working ROM. Good luck!
@RavenMind1
Everyone has been saying different answers and i've put off fixing my device for a while. I'm just afraid i'll brick it forever and have another nightmare after this current one. So no, there has been no progress. I think i'm gonna try to flash Philz and format my system, then flash a deodexed rom. @g7755725 said that you can flash TWRP, but I usually use Philz. It appears to be that I have lost root access because no root features work and SuperSU won't recognize it. Will everything work or am I setting my self up for disaster?
Edit: Where can I find a deodexed rom? I desperately need one, thanks

@g7755725 I downloaded a deodexed rom from the SkipJacks guy (different page than what you sent me) and it's a little under 9MB... how could this possibly be a ROM?

If you're trying to go back to complete stock then just Odin NK2 firmware. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile/general/firmwares-official-mdl-mk2-nb4-t2816508 I used the NK2 from here about 2 days ago to go back to stock.
