anyone able to do this? I thought this was possible (many other forum post about it).
(what is this? open camera app. point at scene w some light and dark areas, touch bright area, camera should change exposure to suit that area (image may get darker), now touch a dark spot, image should get darker. if not, then touch to auto exposure lock isnt working for you either and you're missing out on a VERY powerful function that will help take great photos)
anyone know how to enable it? what settings are you using?
stock camera only
So no one else heard of this problem or have any input on this?
Really? I find it hard to believe no one ever notice this deficiency
That's one thing I miss from my mytouch 4g.. The regular pictures come out too dark on the background with the s3 without exposure and it doesn't even lock, unfortunately I haven't heard of anything for this either

Just switched from a very problematic MT4G (went through 5 of them) to the G2, and so far I'm very happy with the switch. However, I noticed that a lot of my images (photos & wallpaper) seem to have a slightly yellow/green tint to them. Is there any way to change the color saturation on this phone, and has anyone else experienced this as well?
Thanks.

I've noticed my device's screen has a bit "warmer" color temperature than would seem to be preferred by most users. My previous unit from T-Mobile was not like this at all, and noticeably "cooler"/more blue.
Dunno what to tell you.
Cynageon Mod has render effects to calabrate the screen
ah yes im not the only one who has noticed this, this is my second g2 as to the first i had bad pixels nd exchanged it, i had hd2 and i notice that the hd2 has a more vivid color and g2 has a more calm and warmer colors
can you please tell where are these settings?

My phone has something like this I think the photos look blurry in some spots especially in street view mode on the maps.... I don't know if its because cm7 or not

With this app there is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745248
Use Root Explorer to place it in /system/app, change permissions to 644 (rw-r--r--), and reboot.
Not sure if it works with the latest CM7 nightly, but I tried it a couple weeks back with whatever CM7 nightly and it worked fine. Unless you have a baseline though, it's hard to know what to adjust it to.
I have a calibrated monitor and if I hold the phone next to it with the same photo on each, the G2 screen looks just a bit cool with the default CM render effect (no render effect). The calibrated N1 setting is too warm, so it's somewhere in between them.
I was going to mess with it further, but I'm ok with my screen as is.
Hey peeps!
Question First: Has anyone else found a LED flashlight app that works well on the DHD or Inspire that can dim the LED right down?
I want to use the LED on the back as a reading light so I don't have to drain the battery by using the screen but its simply too bright.
I am running an Inspire 4G on Revo HD 6.3.1. The stock flashlight app works well with the 3 levels avaliable and I don't want to kill the LEDs by over running them.
There are tonnes of flashlight apps out there, some using the led and some not. The ones I have researched either don't have a brightness adjustment on the LED or attempt to burn a hole in a sheet of paper.
The only app that I have found which relates to this is call "Reading Light" and is just an adjustable brightness grey screen.
If this has been discussed before please let me know and i'll request this thread be closed. I couldn't find anything regarding this aspect of the topic.
Regards,
Akida
I don't think this has come up before. Its a good request. I'd be interested in something like this.
Bump
Bump for confirmation of possibility please!
Btw .. how often am I allowed to bump? I couldn't find it in the forum rules.
CM 7.1 has a application called Torch which has two light levels. The dim one seems like it would be perfect for reading (it only uses 1 of the 2 flash LEDs). The bright level is insanely bright (much brighter than the Sense flashlight app).
There is an app on the market called Torch, but I don't think its the same one that comes with CM 7.1.

Hey that sounds like its worth a shot. Has anyone extracted the app from CM 7.1? I'm going to ask them for permission anyway.
Thanks for the info.
So I know a few people have asked about this around the net and I've yet to find a solution for this so I thought I'd post my little workaround.
Anyone that's tried to create a long timelapse with the GNex will tell you 1) you NEED to be plugged into AC the whole time and 2) Phone gets extremely hot. Since brightness is automatically increased when recording video, and can't be decreased I use the following combo/setup as a workaround.
Download Screen Filter from Market (**** a play store) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.haxor&hl=en
This app essentially lets you tint your mobile screen from a percentage range of 2-98% of your current brighthness.
Once the app installed go into drawer and add the apps widget to one of your home screens, and set your desired tint percentage. I'm currently at 2% and that makes my screen look like its completely off (except for softkeys)
The final product ends up looking like this..
lol and for all you pervos out there dont be using this workaround to secretly record down/up women's clothes and such...
there is a spycam app called simple notepad that will give you a complete black screen while recording and lets you take pictures by tapping the screen. it works great with amoled scene since the phone looks like it's off when there is a black background. it'd didn't work so good on my atrix but great on the captivate. It's not in the market so you will have to google it.
thanks for the tip I'll check it out

but how can you do anything after recording has started? my phone stops recording even if i press the home button.
or do you darken it before you start recording, and then navigate blindly? how do you undarken it afterwards?
hmm... the screen filter idea seems kind of good, even though you have to navigate blind through the menu... I wish there was a native way of achieving this, just like a button in the camera to turn the screen off and back on again on a tap somewhere or so... But I think it works for my problem, thank you for your idea.
I'm running CM9, and it's been great mostly. Last night I was trying to take some video in a reasonably lit room. Not too bright, not too dark, just a room you'd be sitting in. Well, the preview in the camera app looked good, subject was easily visible, colors looked ok. As soon as I hit record though, it seems to close the iris down or change the exposure to "normal" viewing, which caused the image to become much darker. I'd like to be able to have the camera record with an exposure set at the levels the preview uses. Can someone recommend a video camera app with better controls for that sort of thing? Or tell me how to change the exposure on the video camera mode of the built in app? I didn't see a way to do so.
Thanks!
Hi anyone here have this blueish photo if camera flashed is used?If anybody knows how to fix this issue.
It's a white balance issue. LEDs are generally on the cool side. Either manual change the WB setting or post edit it to make it warmer. That's assuming there's no actual camera malfunction.
A picture(s) would help...
