AudioOut_2 Wakelock - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

After using Betterbatterystats on my Note 2 there is only one thing that is killing my battery from going into deep sleep. I did a lot of research on this wakelock and all I could find was to make sure you have it set to sound, then reboot then you could change it to vibrate or silent. I never have on sound for buttons so I know this isn't the problem. Has anyone found the solution to this wakelock or am I the only one. Thanks.

Were you listening to music or watching a video?

You will get "AudioOut_2" partial wakelocks not just with music/video players... but also if you play games (even if you select mute in that game). You show nearly 2 hrs of this wakelock in 3hrs since unplug (cannot see your "deep sleep" or "awake" times). Either you were playing a game OR that game was left open in the background. Check your open processes... kill any games and like... then reset your BBS stats (Menu... Set Custom Ref). Open one of your games (if you have one)... play for 30sec.. then EXIT that game. Check your BBS stats and you'll probably show 30sec of AudioOut_2 partial wakelock. your phone should be deep-sleeping however when sceen is off.. if not, that's a problem.

uncheck keytones and screen lock sounds.

I've also found this to be due to the touch sounds enabled. It's also responsible for the 'keep awake' time in mediaserver. I don't think this is supposed to be intended function. I'm inclined to think AudioOut_2 should only show up when sounds are being produced
I've been looking for a way to have the process killed whenever it isn't in the foreground. Anyone know of an app that will do that?

Apperently Viber can cause that wakelock. I installed it yesterday and today I had the same audioout2 wakelock problem for 2½ hours in 4 hours uptime. I have tried a fix that should work and I will see if it is Viber that caused it. The fix is to go to settings in Viber and enable "use system sounds" instead of the apps own sounds.

R: AudioOut_2 Wakelock
I haved same problem of audioout_2 and i have found that google play music was causing the problem, if i play a song, stop and exit, my phone don't go anymore in deep sleep, and audioout_2 remain active until i set the media volume to 0.
I think it's a bug of google play music.
Inviato dal mio GT-N7000 con Tapatalk 2

I get the same wakelock regardless of which music player I use. I've tried Shuttle, Google Music, PowerAmp, and PlayerPro.

Could someone clarify "Partial Wake Usage"?..

Guys,
We all know about the "magical 4636 menu" which provides a lot of interesting information as well as battery usage history. Now, talking about Battery, there is a submenu which is called "partial wake usage". I have googled a lot (both on XDA and beyond) and still could not find any exact explanation on what _exactly_ that thing was
Everyone is writing smth like "well, if you see some app there, that means that it doesn't let your Desire to sleep... err... "completely".. but the phone is not "fully" awake either.. err.. yeah..."
So, if someone could clarify this, I would be very grateful. What interests me exactly is:
- if I see (for example) MortPlayer app on top of the "partial wake usage" list - does that mean that the app was ACTIVELY running in background even when the display was off?
- if yes, does that mean that my device consumed just as much power as if it was awake, "minus" the energy consumed by OLED screen?
- so, "partial wake" mode itself - how is that defined? Does "partial-wake" equal "fully-actively-running-device-but-the-screen-does-not-consume-power"?
- when listening to mp3 (with the screen off) - is that "partial wake"?
Thanks in advance.
erm.. anyone?...
Maybe this help!
Hi mate,
I'm no expert on Android or anything but will share what I thought partial wake option shows from my own experience.
I was using Seven to get my hotmail push to my Desire and I was getting very poor battery life from it.
when I checked via the battery history I had to select from the top drop down list "partial wake usage" and "since last unplug" from second drop list.
and it clearly showed 70% of my battery was getting used up by seven. so I uninstalled it right away.
after that now I'm getting almost 2 days worth of battery life while on the other hand before I was running out of battery before even 18 hours.
seven was a beta software and unapproved as well, so I guess it will cause the problem.
So basically the partial wake usage menu shows you what app you or the system running even when your display is off.
now the reason I think it shows other app on the list bcoz of Android's nature of always connected to net. like Android system, maps, facebook and stuff.
which keeps updating behind if you run them once after you unplugged and got out of them by pressing home button.
Also remember by the second menu gives you option to select either "since last unplugged" or "total since boot" or "total in all time" so obviously a lot off app going to show up on the list.
and yes playing mp3 with screen shut is consider partial wake usage as my cube player shows up on list.
PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK means that the CPU will continue running in sleep mode only the Screen and the Keyboard will powerd off
FROM ANDROID API-DOC:
*If you hold a partial wakelock, the CPU will continue to run, irrespective of any timers and even after the user presses the power button. In all other wakelocks, the CPU will run, but the user can still put the device to sleep using the power button.
wake-locks are needed for some apps who have timers or counters in backround etc. 'cause without the cpu the timer will not work
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/os/PowerManager.html
Not recommended to keep CPU running unless you really need it - kills power efficiency by stopping CPU sleep modes.
I have a notification widget on the task bar to access the Testing menu since the first week which allows all those stats and more. I found about a week back that the application WorldWideTime had 99% battery usage as partial wake since the last unplug with over 6hours devoted to it and the next highest being Android at 2s of use. I rarely used the app -> Uninstalled.

Thank you for your replies!
I have noticed that after listening to mp3 using MortPlayer (the screen is off, device in pocket ) it appears on the partial_wake_usage list. So, this means that when I am listening to mp3 via MortPlayer, the CPU stil runs as if my Desire was fully awake.
Does anyone know how that is with the original music player?
I can't answer your specific question, but any music player running when the screen is off must be using an awake lock to keep the CPU running. Same as any browser/application which is downloading content. Without the CPU running, such tasks won't be possible. There is power saving with a partial lock, as other unused hardware is put to sleep.

I am sad to report this but the awesome weather app J
(Palmary) is unfortunately taking up the largest majority of partial wakelock on my Desire Z. Looks like I need to uninstall it.

I use Palmary, without the widget, as my primary weather app. I have it set to manual refresh and I have no problems at all. Unsurprisingly.

I just uninstalled Seven...still in beta btw. I was using it to sync Hotmail since it syncs junk mail as well. Anyway, only found out about this wake lock stuff. Went into spare parts and saw that Seven was taking about 70% also. Charging now...hopefully this will solve my battery issues...tried everything else.

High battery drain

Im trying to find out what is draining the battery on my EVO EVEN WHEN THE PHONE IS WITH THE SCREEN OFF and SUPPOSED to be in STAND BY MODE (using the power button on the phone). I have SETCPU installed to LOWER the CPU to 245/384 when the screen is off.. HOWEVER THE BATTERY SEEMS TO DRAIN .
This afternoon I charged he batter till the green light came on. Made one phone call for 10 minutes and then later another one for 10 minutes.. I do have GPS and BLUETOOTH ALWAYS turned on since I use them all the time WHEN the phone is on for various APPS and my bluetooth earpiece and car adaptor... After those 2 calls the phone is down to almost 70% from 100%...
I have SYSTEM PANEL and also JUICEPOLTTER, SPARE PARTS and MINIFREEMANAGER installed and the programs are set according to what I have been reading on here...
SPARE PARTS tells me the phone has be MORE THAN ONE DAY with sleeping and the most used app is ANDROID SYSTEM. I look at SYSTEMPANEL and UNDER MONITOR HISTORY I can see that even when there is NO DEVICE USAGE, I still have around 15-30% CPU Usage (is this normal?). I also have it set to get email etc automatically.. some every 2 hours and some software every 4-6 hours.
What could be causing the battery drain? What is the best program to use to see the cause?
Im also not 100% sure SETCPU is using the screen off profile.. HOW an I tell this??? Any help would be appeciated...
Have you tried turning GPS off? If it's not actually being used, it won't drain the battery much or at all. However, if you're actually using it, it will.
If you're using navigation, that's a big battery killer, as it does constant GPS + a large amount of data transfer.
One thing you can try is to open Spare Parts, then go to Battery History and choose "Partial wake usage" in the top box. Things with partial wake locks are generally the biggest idle battery users.

UID 10018
WUNDEREADIO

FACEBOOK
that is the orde they are in and I set it to TOTAL SINCE BOOT.
And to answer your question about the GPS.. the only time I use the GPS is to get the correct weather for when I am, YELP and when I am in the car (and PLUGGED IN TO THE CAR MOUNT), GOOGLE NAVIGATION.
I also just Installed a BRIGHTNESS WIDGET and turned off auto-brightness. the widget I am using has 8 brightness settings and double click for auto. I am using currently on the second brightness setting on the widget (it shows little ticks). I am told lowering the brightness from auto will help...
I read in another forum that there was a bug in the Facebook application that was causing the application to refresh its information several times an hour instead of once in a while at specific times. It would use power and bandwith when the phone is even in sleep mode with screen off. They also mentioned that there was a fix already issued for this. I cannot find the link any more to source it for you where I read this.
My stock EVO runs for days with the radios turned off until I need them.
Sometimes, if it ain't broke ...
My evo has been draining fast without all that on and well it's annoying. The only compensation I have is owning 3 batteries.

I haven't seen that Facebook issue. One other thing. In spare parts I have activity management set to aggressive. Could that effect battery life or does that help battery life. I also notice in spare parts that I See programs that I don't use ruining that I didn't see before.

From your list I can only see two things I would kill these programs and wait and see what happens.
WUNDEREADIO
FACEBOOK
Everything else must run. For me Slacker radio kept my EVO on all day long eventhough I was not using it. The new version seems to fix that issue. I am guessing your problem is WUNDEREADIO. I would reboot (resets your battery information) kill Wundereadio. Then go to Settings, About, Battery and monitor your Awake Time vs Up Time. Write down the numbers. Turn off your phone and wait 10 minutes. You should see a gap in time. If so then it is Wundereadio.
Good luck
I think slacker and wunderradio were in the list because I just used them.. wunderradio inst in the list today.. BUT SLACKER is but not in the partial wake.. its in background ...
I changed my backlight setting from auto to using a widget that has 8 brightness settings and it is on the 3rd setting.. I dont know what the AUTO backlight was setting the screen at...
I also adjusted the MINIFREEMANAGER according to some settings I found online..
also I have SPARE PARTS set to AGGRESSIVE... would that have anything to do with it??
Check systempanel first thing when you wake up, but go into monitor, then history, and switch plot to top apps. It will tell you exactly whats been using the battery/cpu when there's been no usage.
As you know, the bt sucks a lot of battery, if you really do use it often, with a bunch of apps, you may want to consider tasker, which can be set up to turn bt on only when your on a call, or using certain apps.
Sent from my blah blah blah blah
Will tasker turn on bluetooth when a call comes in? IE will it let the bluetooth earpiece ring so I can answer it from the bluetooth earpiece?? also can I set tasker so that when get in my car, it will KNOW I am in range of a bluetooth speakerphone and it will turn on BT and connect??
I leave BT on all the time for these reasons....
Looks like tasker wont do anything for me with Bluetooth. The earpieces take too long to connect when a call comes in or I make a call and some even auto answer when they connect which I don't want. I wonder how much battery drain Bluetooth and GPS use if left on but idle?
Sent from my EVO4G using Tapatalk.
Yeah, it would have depended on how long it took to pair. Still try checking the apps through systempanel after a few hours of non-use though. That should help.
And gps doesn't use much until its being used for something, but bt is a constant drain.
Double post
On my old tp2 Bluetooth didn't the battery much. I guess it does on the evo
Sent from my EVO4G using Tapatalk.
OK so I have been running for the past day and 1/2 without blutooth turned on.. I only have 3G and GPS turned on. Still it seems the battery drains faster then it should. I look at SPARE PARTS and it doesnt show anything out of the ordinary on PARTIAL WAKEUP. I have SETCUP to 384/245 when screen off. I do use SYSTEMPANEL to look at what is running and it does show a LOT of stuff such as SLACKER, SOUND HOUND, JUICE PLOTTER, etc... what else can I do for battery life.. I left for work at 8:00 and when I got to work at 8:15, the battery was already at 90% without doing anything....
Aldo how much battery drain does BT take if I leave it on? its a pain to remember to turn it on when I get in the car and turn it off when I leave...

Weird boot up "AudioOut_2" wake lock

Recently I found a weird wakelock generate EVERYTHING I reboot my phone.
My setup:
phone: Galaxy Note 2 LTE N7105
Rom: Wanamite V1.1 N7105
Kernel: Perseus 33.1 (26/2/2013)
Modem : DLL5
Everytime I reboot, this AudioOut_2 wakelock keep waking my phone for 8-15 mins . After that the phone can go deep sleep alright
and this AudioOut_2 wakelock doesn't activate again until I listen to music or playing games with sound.
I already disabled all system sound in my phone, like keypad press tone, unlock sound..etc.
I uninstall/froze ALL music player apps, like Google play music and Samsung music player.
I tried to freeze poweramp(my main and only music player) as well to test if it was Poweramp generate this wakelock on boot, the result is not.
Even I freeze the poweramp and then reboot, the AudioOut_2 wakelock still here. The duration is about the same as well.
I disabled Media Scanning via Rescan Media (root) as well.
I don't know what's up with it? Can anyone have the knowledge can give me a hand on this one? Thanks
P.S I tried to reflash the Rom, Kernel and Modem too but doesn't solve anything.
Here are the screen shots

I don't have Viber - in fact I've no idea what it is - but Audio2 is my major culprit for partial wakelocks too. Never booted up in silent mode either, FWIW.
It hasn't worried me before because I still get good battery life - I switch between Redpill and Perseus - but now I'm paranoid because I've no idea what it is.
On [email protected], stock video and music removed, have Poweramp and MX Video instead, and have had this setup since SGS1 days.
If anyone has the patience to investigate further I'd be grateful. My kids preclude this.

Phone stays awake a lot?

Anyone else experiencing this? I'm not sure what the reason behind this is but is it normal? After about 7 hours off charge with barely 30 minutes of screen on time, I'm down to 77%. Wakelock shows that it's been in deep sleep for only about three and a half hours. The phone has literally been doing nothing with location turned off, widget updates only once every 24 hours, etc. I'm not sure what's keeping this awake.
I have knock on turned on, but have greenified nearly everything for optimal battery life, including a handful of system apps (left a few one since i didn't know their purpose) but it seems like I should be getting a bit more.
Is anyone else getting this kind of awake time? Hopefully I didn't mess something up somehow. I can post more screenshots if anything.
Also, I am running G3 tweaksbox.

Did you even read the post, or the look at the attachment?
I'm getting my information from Wakelock, and I don't see any applications and/or services that appears to be triggering CPU usage, or screen wake ups.

1013 audiomix wakelock?

I already tried disabling touch sounds and similar things.i know its not any of my music players cause it shows as a seperate lock.i dont have music playing the whole day and the battery drops like crazy for no reason. Any way to pinpoint this wakelock or a fix?
Are you rooted? Have you tried Amplify? I don't usually limit that wake lock but it's safe to limit per Amplify.
I found that wake kick and tried limiting and didn't seem to have an issue until the first time I used the S Pen. After the tone to initiate screen write, Amplify unexpectedly went back a step and became unresponsive; had to kill the Amplify and try again. I noticed the blocked wake count had increased by one when I came back in to make the scroll capture.
For some reason, I can't keep the stats reset but momentarily. I can see that the wake locks were reduced by nearly two thirds and wake time seems limited more than expected. It was very high unlimited but I can see a difference since limited.
If you're rooted, try it. Reply back if it seems buggy with limitation. I use a sound mod that includes V4A and Dolby Atmos. I didn't have audio problems; I get notifications in sleep mode. But the initial S Pen issue was unexpected. Hopefully just a one time thing.
