I can't understand why this one is so popular, I find it to have this ugly violet-bluish tint..
Nevertheless, I'm using 240/255/240 on Fauxclock..

It's the most popular one because this one is a calibrated one. One of the users on N4 display control app thread has used his professional screen calibrator. That's why.
Use LG preset and not Google preset on fauxclock. Though the most important are not the color settings but Gamma! It's the biggest flaw of our screen!

Downloaded some pictures and an app yesterday to help me with gamma...
Here are my updated settings:
http://shrani.si/f/1L/CM/4IYI8h4W/screenshot2013-01-27-23-.png
+gamma amp adjust 1 are all 0.
Anyone interested should give it a try, I believe this should be the most balanced reproduction of colours(at least on my screen) and also whites are white. :highfive:
LG preset with Gamma 0 all to 31 gives us approx. 2.2 to all 3 colors using Display Tester app, which is what we want. As for color, I don't see much difference between settings. Gamma changes everything.

With the above settings you at least get some balance between colors(not just RGB, combinations too) , all around 1.8 - 1.9.
With all up to 31, the screen looks dark and murky and the colors go way higher than 2.2. Even with the correct setting of RGB with all around 2.2, the combinations are completely out of balance, with yellow and cyan at around 2.5, magenta at 2.0 and grey at around 2.6.
Could be we have different displays though.
what other apps do i use to change the gamma besides fauxclock app? thankssssss

There is an app, called "LCD Resolution".
It lets rooted phones to change the resolution. It is free and works on ace.
Looks cool.. Post a comment if you used it.. and what setting is optimum.
It just changes the screen density. However, if you really are intent on using it, try 140 and your 2d performance will improve a little bit.
Muhaha from pocketnow
You can d this also manually by editting build.prop or with lcd density

Two screenshot collections. One before other after setting to 140 (also added more columns with ADW).
My language has long words, this helps to see full length words in settings menu.

have you tried make/recieve a call with a different lcd density? i guess your phone app will simply crash.
If there is a solution please, i'll be very glad to know about because my ace with a 140 density is much more appealing to the eye!
Great apk. And which smalest can change density 140 or smalest?

Just booted with 80 (940x640)
I'm wondering, since 800x480 game resolutions wont fit Galaxy Ace's screen, will changing the density to 800x480 from 480x320 make it fit? Haha just curious though

So it only changes the density, not the physical resolution of the screen, right?
Don't get it. Conventionally High Dpi = High resolution but it seems the opposite in this application.
Did you notice any loss of sharpness guys?
Using now 120, 110 status bar fc, 100 bootloop
If you do this keep it mind that it breaks the market, most things will say your device is incompatible, and lots of stuff will be missing.
At eny resolution i try i got crush of com.android.phone all other work good but i cant use phone for call :/ wen i got o try make call .. crush ;/

Franco and Trinity kernels both do this. Is it supposed to save on the battery? I personally find it irritating to look at, but maybe I'll get used to it.
All screens are slightly different, so why don't you just change the gamma values? Francos app allows you to easily do this

Is that really it? Screens are different? That seems weird, since if I change all 3 values to 0 its fine.

Kernel isn't changing screen color...
But rather enabling the option to do so.
So if you have an app/setting in your rom enabling color control, it's automatically using THOSE settings upon boot.
What file do I edit? I can't remember what file it was when I was running the Franco kernel... it was somewhere in /system

Hi. There are 4 kind of display mode:
-dynymic
-standard
-natural
-video mode
Which one you use everyday ? Did you try another for increase battery life ?
I'm usually on standard modd the second one. I wanted to try natural but the colours are too ugly.
Anyone tried perseus kernel and change settings colours for the natural mode and see the change?
Thanks

Natural and Perseus' Master Sequence is almost the same.
Natural seems to have more saturared colors though.

Master Sequence over rides the Samsung's screen display profile. I believe it gives me a better white than Natural or Movie display.

Well, natural mode is still way off - the whites IIRC still had that green hue to it. Perseus comes with calibrations that even beats iPad etc, read the thread for more info You can see when you compare it with an iPad to see what I'm talking about.
And read the Perseus thread for more info re: calibration, there are some interesting posts by Slimer777 on the same

Yep. Most of the difference people notice is contrast ratio, color calibration etc. - the whole PPI/resolution aspect is way too overrated. Now when I switch the calibration off, the icons seem horrible and blurry. The screen is crisp and gorgeous with calibration on.
I use dynamic as its more of saturated and I love them with red pill my kernel

Using 340 right now myself and and it works well. I don't use Buiild.prop to do it so I don't have problems with the dialer. I use Xposed to set it on a per app basis.

Either by editing build.prop (this will cause scaling issues with touchwiz apps like the dialer) or by using app settings
You're going to need root access and the Xposed framework see here
Using App settings will allow you to change DPI on a per app basis.
320 is working well for me.
I will give 320 a try as well. I switched to a build prop edit for 340 and using closed to switch dialer, contacts, and gallery back to 480.

I really wish we could just recenter the dialer because I really can't stand how big it is, even at 440. Or even just make it scale to the right side instead of left lol.

It's easier to use App settings to control DPI on a per app basis.
