Bada 2 finally working on Bell Mobility (Canada) - Bada Software and Hacking General

I almost gave up trying to get Bada 1.2 or 2 working on my Wave S8500. Most European flashes don't contain the UMTS850/1900 needed in North America for 3G/3G+.
I finally found the Venezuela 'L' flash contained those .
You can get that file plus the original S8500M flash for Bell from here
http://www.tsar3000.com/Joomla/inde...00m-wave-firmwares&catid=55:samsung&Itemid=82
Both flashes are near the bottom of the page.
You'll need to record your Network Connections before flashing as the Bell Internet connections are not hardcoded in the Venezuela flash.
Working like a charm and quite the update from 1.0
Enjoy

Does this really work in North America? Do you have any problems with network coverage, or any other problems?
Has anybody else from North America (Canada) tried Venezualla's "L" firmware on WAVS8500?

I can confirm it does indeed work. As for any problems or bugs, I didn't really run into any. I'm not a heavy cell phone user though so YMMV. Overall I would recommend it. I remember there being a trick I had to do to make it english, and the Venezuelan firmware had a weird theme IMO but that is easily changed. Loading this firmware also allows you to run the fota file to unlock your phone for free. I would say download the Venezuelan firmware as well as the stock Bell firmware. That way, if you don't like it, you should be able to go back to the way it was.

Do you remember, what version of Multiloader did you use to load the firmware and what was your operating system, XP, Vista, or win 7?
A while ago, I also tried to load Bada2 from Venezuela using Multiloader 5.64 under XP, but my phone crashed after bootloader. After that, there were some issues (usb not recognized) going back to Bell's Bada1 and I gave up. May be I did something wrong.
Has anybody else tried Venezuela's Bada2 and what versions of Multiloader, OS did they use?

try version Multiloader 5.67 then after flash try master reset *2767*3855#

OK people,
I managed to install the Venezuela firmware from Movistar, but what I can see I am not able to install applications both through Kies and the phone (Samsung App). The application store in Kies does not recognize the devise, but Kies itself recognizes it?! With manual selection of the device, I am able to download applications in Kies and it gives 100%, but don't see them anywhere in the phone.
For those having Win XP operating system and interested to flash there is a version of Multiloader 5.67 (with fixed GUI for XP) which works fine. It is called "Multiloader 5.67 by Bride". Here is the link:
http://tizen-centrum.pl/Multiloader-5-67-by-Bride-zmodyfikowany-wyglad-GUI
Correction:
App store in Kies is working, but you have to select Venezuela as the store country!

[Q] How to make Kies recognize my official firmware ?

Hi everybody !
I flashed my Wave II with a official Italian firmware (S8530XXLA1). I flashed it by tricking Kies so by changing two times the country of my Wave (first from French to Italian then from Italian to French). Now Kies doesn't recognize my firmware and that's obvious. I know that if I turn my Wave II to Italian again, Kies would recognize it but when the official update will come in France I want to have it.
So my question is how to make Kies recognize my firmware to flash it with the French one ?
I know that I can flash it with MultiLoaderX with a official French bada 1.2 but I'd rather use Kies. So does anyone got an answer ?
This is not a priority for me since there is for now no updates for unlocked SIM.

No singapore region is an international world wide english firmware but follows the Asian path and not the European
Since you phone current firmware ends with 707.1 means its Singapore region, download the 1.28.707.10 Asian WWE RUU from here http://www.filefactory.com/f/7cc7b2fbdd03c031/
connect it to your phone and put it in development USB debug mode and run it, it will work on its own, make sure you backup everything this will wipe your phone

how can i backup my save games -hopefully without rooting the device-?!
I've got one of these coming from Singapore as well, and assume I'll have a similar issue getting the latest rom. Out of curiosity, do I need to flash a rom for SG or can I pick one from a different region? Any one of them better than others for the US on AT&T (I assume the radio firmware is the primary difference)?
--Matt
Any one knows answer to my question about backup game save data without rpoting the devidce
An how much this update wipes.my phone ?
Does is format my entire storage ?
Does it wipe all my installed apps ?
Flashing an RUU will set the phone back to how it was when you got it out the box, albeit on the latest FW version, so you will have to set it up from scratch

Wind / Mobilicity Users, Please Help

I'm looking for the original BUILD.PROP File.
For whatever reason when returning to stock in ODIN, the phone reverts to VTR (Videotron) and the menus are in French. Even when connected to Kies the phone is identified as VTR. All three firmwares obtained through CheckFUS (GLW-MCT-VTR) are identical. (The VTR version)
Even after manually setting Keyboard to English, certain applications continue to return to default French. I assume this is built into there rom? Beside the point. All flashes were full wipes through TWRP including system and internal storage.
I am very confused. Thanks for any help in providing that file.
Bump
**Bump**
Come on, it's a tiny little file. No one here in Canada can help me solve a legitimate problem?
Anyone?
Can't you ODIN the WIND/MOBILICITY firmware on? Maybe root the phone and flash T-MOB then go back to ODIN to stock for GLW/MCT
Yep

Done it, TMO installed, Flash back to stock via ODIN. Banm! Videotron, and in French. As I said all three Roms are identical. I just need to get the Build file to see if Kies will pick it up as Mobi or Wind.
Does anyone have that file? Of course!
Will anyone bother to help?:silly:

[Q] Radio not working in custom ROM I9082

I bought I9082 from China Unicom (which I believe is firmware locked).
I tried to upgrade the firmware manually through ODIN.
But in ODIN it stops at setup connection
<ID:0/006> Odin v.3 engine (ID:6)..
<ID:0/006> File analysis..
<ID:0/006> SetupConnection
<ID:0/006> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
Then I rooted with CWM and loaded Custom ROM.
Later I upgraded a custom rom - XXAMD6 on baseband ZNMAMB3.
But the problem now is Radio is switched off. So the mobile is not active.
When I try to make a call it says Flight mode is activated. But really flight mode is switched off.
I am able to receive calls and messages
Do you have any solution for this.
Does this mean the firmware is locked?
Any possibility that I can revert back to original stock ROM I9082ZNAMB3
I have this stock ROM downloaded but could not load this through ODIN (seems there is some lock since it stops at setup connection in ODIN).
Any possibility that this stock ROM can loaded through CWM?
My phone is kind of half-bricked since I couldn't make any call also not able to upgrade.
Please give me solution.

Hi, I could not download any file through Odin. I tried pushing the modem file already. Do you think there is any firmware lock?
During setup connection it stays for long time and then it says failed.
Any modem MOD file to push through ClockworkMod I can try.

mr_coimbatore, I'm having exactly the same problem with a China Unicom I9082 here in Shanghai. Sadly I still haven't been able to find a solution, after weeks of searching.
It's actually a friend's phone, he bought it because he wanted a dual SIM Android handset, though foolishly bought it straight from Unicom rather than from an electronics market. I told him I'd get rid of the China Unicom firmware for him as it is obviously crippled by design like all Chinese Android stock ROMs. I've managed to install k2wl's Ultralite ROM on the handset but I'm facing the same issue as you - the baseband remains untouched from the one that was on the original ROM (I9082ZNAMB3), but it's stuck in flight mode. Can receive calls/texts, cannot make them.
The big clue that there is some kind of lock in place is the fact that one of the original Chinese logos still appears on boot. Flashing a custom ROM should remove all the stock boot logos.
I get exactly the same error when trying to update the baseband with Odin (I tried several basebands and all had exactly the same error as the one you quoted in your first post), so it seems that what we have here is a baseband lock combined with an incompatibility between the existing baseband and the custom ROM (or, more likely, any ROM that isn't the stock ROM provided by China Unicom). If we can remove the baseband lock and update the baseband to one that is compatible with the custom ROM, we should be in business. Sadly, that's as far as I've got.
The annoying thing is that the SIM cards being used on the phone are both China Unicom, so it's not as if I even need the phone to be factory unlocked for use on any network - I simply need it to be able to make outgoing calls/texts on Unicom!
I have seen sites offering an unlock service by IMEI, for example unlocksamsungonline.com, who claim to provide both NCK (network unlock codes) and SPCK (service provider unlock codes), which seem to be what we need in order to unlock the phone without expensive equipment.
However, I have no idea how genuine/reliable these kinds of sites are or if they even work at all (or if they're even legitimate at all), and I'd rather not spend $18.95 USD on an unlock code that doesn't end up working. Also, given that it's a dual SIM phone it's going to have 2 IMEI numbers, so I'm not sure if I'd have to pay double to unlock it or if just one would do the trick!
I've not yet had the time to take the phone to an electronics market in the hope that somebody there understands the issue and has the equipment to remove the baseband lock. In almost all of my previous experiences with electronic markets here in Shanghai, I've found that their hardware knowledge is fantastic (not surprising given that the phones are made in China), but their software knowledge is generally quite poor. I actually spent almost an hour one day explaining to an iPhone engineer that he could in fact upgrade an iPhone's software while preserving an (unlockable) baseband, simply by making a custom ISPW with Pwnagetool or similar that would flash the new firmware without flashing the baseband. He and several of his coworkers claimed that it was impossible, and when I showed them my iPhone that was running the updated iOS while still on an old baseband, until I managed to explain the entire process he thought I had hacked the phone somehow to display a different baseband version... the whole experience was incredibly frustrating and to be honest has left me thinking that I can probably find out more online whenever I've had any kind of software issues with any devices.
Anyway. If you happen to have some success before I do, please let me know! I'll do the same.

Hi, Yes I found the solution.
Thanks to tonylin880806 who provided me some links.
I am in Shanghai as well. I took my phone to electronics markets in Xujiahui and Zhangyang Road. In both places, every one said they cannot do anything. The reason may be they don't know or do not want to take any risk or bricking the phone.
Also I went to Samsung service center, they said I have void my warranty. I asked them only to restore the original firmware. But he said the only option is to change the CPU and that will cost more money. I asked for alternate options and he said no.
Then, I re-explored the posts asked if Tony has send me an option
At first, you should upgrade ZNAMB3 to ZNAMD1 with Odin. ZNAMD1 is the office OTA upgrade for ZNAMB3 sent by Samsung.
You can use below link for ZNAMD1 : http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shar...&uk=3590848074
to download ZNAMD1 which is official and push this through Odin.
So now you will be back with your original firmware without google account.
After this, you can root the phone with CWM.
Then you can load any compatible custom ROMs. But you should note that our handsets cannot load firmwares of all countries. Might be they are firmware locked or modem not compatible for other region firmwares.
I have loaded below custom ROM which is very similar to original firmware with google account. This is really good.
ZNAMD1_rc2 - http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=517042&uk=2030731697
Also, in this your memory card is swapped with internal memory and have chrome browser. USB OTG is missing.
Only problem I face is, when I install google talk apk there is some problem. Whenever I get an incoming notification from google talk, it hangs and it says process.google.com stopped. So I have installed hangout and its ok with hangout now.
Hope this helps you.........

Yeah, the link you posted has the '...' in it, which ruins the URL. It's the not the complete URL. Do you have the full URL to download it on Baidu? It will be much faster than downloading it from another site, as you know from living in China and having to deal with Chinese internet connections

[Q] Flash European Firmware onto Chinese Galaxy Tab S 8.4

Hi guys.
I've got a China-bought Galaxy Tab S (T705C). The current ROM doesn't allow Google Services. Hence, no Gmail, no Google Play store on my Tab.
Can anyone throw me a bone here?
Where do I begin with installing European firmware for the Tab?
1. Do I need to root the device?
2. Do I have to install Cyanogenmod / some other firware loader?
3. Will LTE firmware work on this model? (It's 4G)
Thanks
For reference, would this ROM be correct for the 8.4" Tab ?

1)yes. http://androidxda.com/root-samsung-galaxy-tab-s-8-4-sm-t705c
2) you need a recovery ( TWRP) to install Rom zip file.
3) If the HW is the same I would assume yes. Does support main LTE frequencies
4) yes, Selamba Rom is correct
:good: Dude, you're my hero.
I'll give it a try.

I have the exact same problem, very curious if you are able to solve the issue and how.

dqs23: If it will be of help to you - here's where I've gotten so far:
My understanding, to this point, is:
1. I need to install a European ROM to use Google services, and Google Play store on the Tab S.
2. I think that the SM-T705C is the same as the T705, just from China. So, I assume that this ROM (French-based) should work:
3. I'll need a tool such as Odin or Heimdall to install a Root program.
Recommended in the above link is this one: CF-Autoroot
4. Upon flashing CF-Autoroot, I'll then be able to install a ROM manager such as TWRP, from whence I can backup and install the custom ROM.
Where I'm currently hung:
I'm using an Ubuntu 14.04 machine, which can't run Odin.
I don't have a Windows machine, or access to one conveniently.
There's a Java based version called JOdin, which I've used, but it hangs at "Cannot extract PIT file."
Using Heimdall alone, I have the same problem - Cannot retrieve PIT file. (Which I presume is necessary to proceed with flashing the Root package. So, it's apparently an Ubuntu/Heimdall issue, perhaps with this particular device.
I understand it's possible to get PIT files from other means, but I'm a bit out of my depth, and don't want to f*$# things up. So, at this point, I'll probably wait and try to get a Windows machine going, and test from there.
Please kindly add any additional information you find here to this thread.
Thanks for the update emfield.
As this is the first time I'm doing a root everything is very new to me. Luckily I have an expert nearby to consult with on the basics.
What I've done so far is rooted the tablet with cf-autoroot but after installed gapps manager I was unable to download the proper gapps (4.4.1-2) as it gave me download unsuccessful error every time.
I guess what I'm looking for is some kind of confirmation from others how they were able to flash it to a EU rom and the steps they followed.

That will not likely happen as China locks everything down, as that product is actually manufactured in China, it will be fully compliant with whatever regulations exist for those products. I got around some of it by extracting the Chinese Odin image and the HongKong image, then I took the Hong Kong Cache.img and placed it in the new Chinese image.
Doing that allowed me to change the csc to whatever country I wanted, in this case Hong Kong, I was then able to get my news and other things in English.
Use 7Zip to create your new tar image, since it is not signed by Samsung you will trip the Knox flag, you will need to root your phone in order to flash GAPPS. The key parts of the firmware are blocked by the Chinese bootloader so rooting is absolutely required.

Hey Lorin, please let me go back a step with your response:
1) By "That will not likely happen", do you mean it's not possible to root and install a different ROM?
I've found a European-based ROM, based off the stock Samsung 4.4 firmware, which is for the SM-T705. (It's here.)
Are you saying that's not possible / not going to work?

2. Sounds interesting. Can you clarify slightly about the "Odin image"? Is that an image of the firmware? (Same thing as a stock ROM?) And where did you get a HK Rom?
Thanks!

Sammobile.com has all the ROMs, I just downloaded the Chinese and Hong Kong Versions and replaced cache.img in the Chinese ROM with the HK version, that should work using a cache.img from Europe. Odin will work with a tar image without the md5 extension. If using Window, 7Zip will create a tar file
If you attempt to flash any other ROM on a Chinese ROM ex. T705C, T805C Odin will fail and knox will be tripped, you can flash a custom ROM but you will lose the radio, no LTE, 3G or 2G

I see.
Were you able to download a PIT file for the T705C? Linux user here, using Heimdall. On Mac and Linux, we're unable to extract a PIT file from these devices.
2. Regarding "Odin will fail on flashing a non-chinese ROM" - So, supposing I am able to root and install TWRP or CWM Rom Manager, even then, flashing a mostly-stock ROM based on the European stock T705, it's definitively going to lose 3G/LTE ?
Thanks
Status update:
Got device rooted ( used Odin 3.07 in Virtualbox)
Got Busybox installed
Got TWRP Backup *app* installed - not yet been able to install backup Recovery menu.
Where I'm currently at:
Trying to get TWRP recovery working, to make a backup of my current stock ROM.
Problem: Rebooting into recovery menu does NOT yield any menu options for backup/recovery. It seems to be the stock Android 4.4 recovery menu: NO ability to create a backup. (That I can find.)
Anybody got some idea what to do here?

Even changing the kernel broke LTE and 3G on mine
Succes!
Thank you very much for the post! I had the same problem.
Before using the ROM you indicated in your post: (pibach's one)
1.I used Odin to root my device.
2.I downloaded the tar file of the TWRP (for this device )
3.Installed the TWRP using Odin
4.Copied the ROM onto device(I didn't use a SD card)
5.I downloaded ROM manager app
and installed it onto the device and used it to reboot in recovery mode(using Reboot into Recovery)
6. In the recovery mode I went to Install and found the zip with the ROM and installed it without any problems
When the system started I was unhappy because there were the same Icons from the Chinese software . But when I opened the menu Play Store was there :good::fingers-crossed:

OK so hopefully nobody had already read my post but none of this was necessary for me as I am still living in China (therefore there's no need to worry about messing up the radio). All that was necessary was to download the "App Search" application that is popular here in China and then search for "Google Play" Store which was still in the mainland China database. In order to set up the account the rest of the way, I used my VPN to connect to the Google network and voila!
The reason it seems tricky at first is because the government blocks a lot of services that are not China-based from reaching China and it also blocks China-based services from going leaving China. So a VPN is an absolute must for using Google...but to find Google apps is a piece of cake.
But if you intend to take the tablet outside of Asia then rooting is most likely still necessary if you want to use LTE/3G.
New to Android
I am in the USA. USA Tablets do not have LTE phones as the carriers want you to buy expensive data packages.
the way around this is to buy the SM-T705C which has the correct transceiver radio in it.
I am savvy when it comes to any windows problem. Recently replaced old X7001 Windows phone with a SM-T705C. S V4.4.2 Kit kat till learning Android

I have read this thread and it seems the best place I have found so far concerning rooting a SM-T705C international version.
I have to date gotten the SM-T705C to mostly speak English. I still get the weather in Chinese and have a few Chinese icons.
I have activated the developers options (Easter Egg)
Downloaded and installed in Win 7
Several android Emulators
Kies3
Downloaded Only: CF Auto root, Odin, Owners manuals in Chinese. Specifications for LTE version
Current Problems:
1. I can not get any Windows 7 or Win 8.1 machine to recognize the SM-T705C at all using the stock USB cable. , Need Help. I need to be able to access & transfer files.
2. Screen shuts off even when connected to USB cable. All I can do is control the delay. Very annoying
My goal is to unlock and then root the phone so that I can dual boot the original OS and any other Android OS.
Some terms I am unfamiliar with:
What is:
TWRP ?
Gapps Manager
Cyanogenmod
What is a Knox Flag ? I understand what it does but Is it hardware or software ?
Please help
