I would like to be able to connect my PS3 to my 3G/4G connection via a WIFI router. I have a Cradlepoint CTR35 3G router as well as a Zoom 4501 3G router that I have attempted to USB tether and WIFI tether (using the repeater feature) my phone to. I am on Caulkin's 2.8.1 rom, EL29 modem, which has the unlocked Sprint hotspot and USB tethering features. On both routers, I am unable to get the "3G connected" light to turn on indicating internet access. Are there any routers that are compatible with the Epic 4G Touch? Is there a better way of doing this? My PS3 does not see the AD-HOC connection if I just use the Sprint Hotspot app. My laptop connects directly just fine to both USB tethering and WIFI tethering. I greatly appreciate your input! Thanks

I have Caulkin's 2.8.1 and under apps it has a Sprint Hotspot app. That is what I am using for the WIFI tethering attempts. I need to do some further testing with the WIFI tethering to the router, but my main concern is to be able to USB tether to a router that supports the Epic 4G Touch and currently neither of the 3G routers I have purchased work in USB tether or WIFI tether.....need some insight. Thanks

The Sprint hotspot app creates an infrastructure connection, and not adhoc.
I don't see why you are trying to connect the Epic Touch to yet another router when it IS itself a router via the hotspot app, and up to 8 devices.

what your saying is true.. and yes the person did say ad hoc doesnt work, but if you read it, he also stated just using the hotspot app doesnt work.. regardless, my suggestion would be to just get internet at home and buy a regular router id like to see you play a high end game online with a 3g/4g connection lol.. either your phone is messed up, or your not setting it up properly.. because like ppl have said, the hotspot app turns your phone into a wireless router already..
I just tested connecting the PS3 to my E4GT using the Sprint Hotspot app on Calk's ROM and it works perfectly fine.
Moved into a e4gt from an evo 4g last week. Love the phone but I am having an issue with wireless tether and accessing a vpn at a clients.
My evo worked perfectly with miui's baked in tether. Now with this e4gt I cannot get it to work. Here's what I have tried:
Blazer ROM and sprint hotspot - gets online, but 800 error on vpn
Blazer and wireless tether for root - laptop doesn't see the hotspot
Miui and baked tether - will not get online
Miui and Wireless tether for root - online, 800 error on vpn
Blend ROM and sprint hotspot - online. 800 error on vpn
The vpn does work, I can connect from my home network. Just wondering if there is anyone who has gotten a setup like this working. It seems to me that these hotspots are not allowing either the 1723 or GRE traffic. I have not seen any optoins to pass these through. I have seen the vpn setup on the phone and tried it, but it has not worked either.
Thanks for any help,
DAnono
Anyone have wifi tethering working on this VZW build? I've tried the hotspot toggling, the wifi tether app, and FoxFi. All allow my laptop to "connect", but they show up as no Internet connection. If I look at the connection status on the laptop it shows 0 packets received..
I have my Gnex rooted and whenever I tether I can't seem to have a stable connection, despite having a good signal according to my phone. Should I be using a tethering app instead of the default USB tether feature? I am on Windows 7, and each time I enable tethering on my phone a new network is connected and I get prompted to select a network type (home, work, public). Should this be happening?
Maybe your carrier is blocking tethering?

I use Splashtop on my Asus Infinity TF-700 to remotely connect to my PC at the office. When I use Wifi, it works great.
However, whenever I try to tether the tablet to my Galaxy Nexus, Splashtop kills the hotspot connection and I must reboot the tablet and disable/re-enable hotspot on the GN. I am running AOKP 4.2.1 Build 2.
I say it "kills my hotspot" because while tethered before I starting Splashtop my tethered connection on the tablet works great. As soon as I open Splashtop on the tablet, my internet connection on the tablet is killed. Splashtop fails to remotely connect to my PC and no other apps can connect.
I've switching my connection from LTE to 3G and it has no effect. I contacted Splashtop support and they say that my tether probably cannot support the bandwidth, but I responded that I am able to get 7-11 MBPS on the tablet over the tether using LTE, streaming YouTubeHD. They basically have no answers and told me I should try upgrading to Android 4.2.2.
Anyone else here use Splashtop tethered thru your GN? Any ideas?
