From what I can recall cwm only recognizes fat 32. You can format your sd card to fat 32 using a specific windows app. It's called guiformat.

You can also use Easus Partition Manager.
I've been using it for years. It's what I used to format my own 64GB MicroSD in Windows to Fat32.
It's free btw

Well, I have a class 10 16 gb micro sd car. today after installing the Increase Internal Memory mod by XtremeSilencer, I partitioned it using the Minitool partition wizard. after booting it can't recognize the sd card but detects it in cwm. So I know my sd card is alright. so I flashed the whole rom(Revoluotion HD ICS) but still it can't recognize the sd card although detected in cwm just like previous times. After then I tried a lot like formatting it,partitioning it by both CWM & Minitool from FAT32 to FAT-EXT123..every format. But nope..nothing happened. I even flashed the stock firmware.. still no respite. please help.. :crying:

Yes, I got a card reader. Thank God! my card was detected.. Deleted the partitions and reformatted.. Working fine now..
My S3 isn't recognizing my micro sd card at all! I tried restarting the phone, everything, and no luck. Then i tried to put it into my PC so that i can just format it, and my PC won't recognize the SD card either . Is there any other way to format my SD card, or to even just get it to be recognized by a device? I came here because you guys know everything xD
Where did you purchase it? Are you sure it's not corrupted?

i bought it from amazon. it has worked perfectly fine for about a year now. But out of nowhere, it said "SD card unexpectedly removed" and when i try to put it back it, it doesn't respond to the card at all. I dont know if its corrupted or not, because when i insert it into my phone or my computer, it doesnt react to the SD card at all
If you know the computer's SD card reader to be in working order, the card is hosed. Not even any hope of recovering the data on it, because nothing will recognize it.
Hye, i feeling weird right now, why when i connect my xperia ion to pc, only internal storage are connected, but external sd card are not connected. Before this are ok, this happen after i format my external sd

why did u format ? did u try any other ROM?
did u try removing the memory card and putting back in to the phone?
or try using in on another mobile.
if nothing is working then , your card is dead.
If the dialog box , "You need to flash the card before using " is showed when accessing the card, and if u did a format then im sorry , the format went wrong and your card is dead.
No i am using stock rom, th sd card is ok work normally, i can put files in there, but when i want to copy big files to sd card, i have to copy to internal storage first, then use es file explorer to copy it to sd card, why my pc didnt detect my external sd card,

Always format any SD card in the device in which it will be used. This will always work and ensures that the SD card has the correct format for the device.

Works best for me when I have troubles with my SD card.
I always format from the pc in fat 32, the only problem is that you won't be able to write files bigger than 4GB into the sd
