[Q] Xposted framework is not installed (active) - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear all,
I just tired to use Xposed framework + Multi-Window on my Note2 (with Android 4.12, root already).
1, APK installation completed successfully,
2. But when I tried to do Install under Xposed framework, I got the error msg that's shown 'the xposted framework is not installed', and I saw that Xposed doesn't active.
3, Also when I try to choose check box 'Multi-Window', still got error"cannot read/write /data/Xposed/modules. white-list
I appreciate if anybody could help on it, thanks

I do have the same problem. Xposed framework can not be installed as described above.
Android 4.2.2 on mk908 (stock ROM) with root access. (Also checked with root checker)
Any idea why we get this error message?
Thanks

AOSP browser without root (yes you read that right) 4.3

I have a method to install the aosp browser without any root privileges at all and no modifications of the system partition. Just involves installing 2 or 3 apks (depending if you want bookmark syncing). This should work on any of the other nexus devices that came without stock browser.
Please don't repost this yet. I want to add in the other languages to browser.apk for the "find on page" button in the menu. I fixed English. The stock nexus roms don't have the string in framework-res for this one button.
Download zip (this is not a cwm package/just extract it or open the files from inside)
http://www.mediafire.com/?f98l0b3apkbb6s1
Steps:
1. Use es file manager to browse to system/app and install browserproviderproxy (it will say app not installed, don't worry it worked) OR install the included file
2. Reboot (it will not work without rebooting first)
3. Install Browser4.3_blackhand1001.apk
4. Install ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter_blackhand1001.apk (this will give you bookmark syncing)
Extras:
User agent selection in Advanced Preferences
Fullscreen Toggle in Labs
Please post if it works for you!!
Video Tutorial (thanks XDA)

Updated the process. It now should work on all devices. Turns out the signature on browserproviderproxy differs between devices.
Does this work on all devices as well as previous version of android say for example Sony Xperia S running 4.1.2 (comes with stock browser version 4.1.2-N7_zg)?
yep working fine on my nexus7.. though there's no option for full screen.

dumb question, but since this is going in the system folder, will it affect our ability to receive OTA updates?

Its not going in the system folder. You navigate to folder and open the existing apk to install it. It does not effect OTA updates. I just included another copy of the file for those who don't know where that folder is.

Hotspot on 4.3 TouchWiz?

On Jovys rom I posted a link with modified framework and files that will allow tethering if you are using the MK2 modems.

You should be able to just overwrite the two that are there.

Hello Agelistus,
the files you can find them on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47983804&highlight=tether#post47983804
It will be Post #225
I didn't copy the direct URL as I don't own the link of files. Would be glad to post them here if TheArtiszan is ok with that or re-upload them to make them available in more than one spot.

Hey southsidexz, thanks a million!! xda is an entire universe of information and I would have truly burned the midnight oil looking for this to no avail. Gonna try it out now. So far that's my only issue with infamous 9, it seemed that wifi tethering worked natively on 8.0. Again, many many thanks!
Your welcome
Your welcome. Always glad to help people around.
On another note I was dumb enough to rename the framework to old before I replaced it so my Phone got killed..... However thanks to cabloomi and his Recovery Image to .tar.md5 odin flash, I was able to flash CWM latest recovery so it could read my MicroSD card and then flash the zip I created that flashed the framework file. (Thanks to ScatteredHell)
If in case someone else does it... and doesn't want to re-flash the rom or restore old backup.
You can flash Framework via recovery, following this thread instrucitons to get the framework apk into a flashable format for recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840098
If in case you have a recovery that won't read your external SD card (like I did) you can use this link to flash any recovery via ODIN.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2281287
(Side Note: if you get errors, please see post #23 on the link above, it provides the solution if you get errors)
Note:I am not responsible for damaging or further damaging your phone, I am just providing help/alternate solutions. Your phone is your responsibility
I follow the steps above and got back up running.

Just to make this easy I had the same problem on replacing framework, too. Then I searched on some other forums here and found out you can copy or move the framework apk into system folder and fix permissions then move that framework I to the framework folder to replace over the existing apk and just reboot. Just make sure to make a nandroid before doing anything just incase something goes wrong.
Thanks
Thanks Carlos2200,
I would've taken that route but sadly I couldn't get into the system folder. I wasn't able to do a nandroid restore as my SD card got messed up and the backup was gone.
Definitely for anyone, make sure you have a good Nandroid before anything.
I will update that the method I mention above does remove all your accounts only. So you will have to re-add them.

An alternative....
For those who don't care to bother with the framework files in the event that 3minit is updated to work with 4.3, I came across an app on the play store called "wi-fi tether router" that seems to work, though I haven't a clue why it does. Changing the user agent on the browser renders it successful it seems. Good luck to all!

A few more information for others:
Google in 4.4.2 removed entry in Settings app that enabled App Ops applications from Play to actually display App Ops function.
This mod revert back commit that Google did in order to prevent us from using it.
You still need App Ops starting app from Google Play (will not promote any here) that is Android 4.4 compatible!
Don't look for 4.4.2 compatible app on Google Play, as such do not exist. If it would exist, then we wouldn't need this mod. right?

Most likely this zip will block OTA. I'm not sure about the app linked, but since it now requires root and would probably have to do some modding to function, it wouldn't surprise me if it also blocks OTA. If uninstalling reverts changes, then you would be ok.

[App] GS5 Native Hotspot Unlocker

This feels like it should go in development to me, so please feel free to move it mods, but since it is technically an app I am putting it here.
Graphics aren't very pretty but initial testing has been good, only one person having problems on gs5. This should theoretically work on any sprint phone, and I plan on adding support for more devices over time, and more features, but here is the first version.
General Directions:
You must be rooted
Click the first three buttons and reboot, then your native hotspot should work.
After the initial unlock you may need to re-click the unlock button from time to time, some updates overwrite the unlock
Add to notifications button works, and will only add when the panel is not already there.
I have had mixed reports about the tether packet counter being disabled, some people reported the hotspot goes down after 10-30 mins when you disable the packet counter.
I have plans of adding vpn support and enabling the button to start the hotspot from within this app, maybe even including my own hotspot framework like some of the other apps.
Just added a diagnostics and request support for my device in the settings menu, this will setup an email with some info I will need to help troubleshoot, just click send after its prepared.
Let me know what you guys think and if you run into any problems. And please by all means try it on different devices and click the request support option to send me the info, I would like to get this working universally.
This has been tested on NKD and NK4 successfully. NKD v2 ROM is known to have problems, if you can manually get a sqlite binary that works into /system/xbin/ the rest will work but it is advised to upgrade instead.
**NOTE**
Please be kind this is my first app I have released, and I do not consider myself a java developer by any means. If you want to help and contribute let me know...
***Big Thanks to the following people for donating***
@eevanskiteboards
***Update***
Just realized that my app is expecting the "which" binary to be there and functional, which is not always the case. This means that having busybox installed may be a pre-requisite for now
**Update 2***
Added 0.2 version, should hopefully work on Boost mobile.
Worked like a charm, many thanks!

Yeah, it wasn't any fun trying to find a pie compatible sql but good to know its working. I know its always a WIP but I tried the app briefly, good job. Now if only we can get an OTA and a way to deodex Android 5 dependably, we'll be all set.
Deodex and decompile is close, I got pretty far but definitly still some work needed. I plan to build something into the app that will give you the option of dropping a modified services.jar into place so that you wont have to re-unlock when APNs are updated. Also a few more things as time allows.

Works great on sprint android 5.0 leak rom
Just an update, it seems the people who are having problems have all been related to a bad copy of sqlite so far. If you are having any issues please try to remove sqlite and use a different app to install it, or grab the binary directly, until I can get it worked out. To remove run as root via adb or a terminal emulator:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
rm /system/xbin/sqlite3
mount -o remount,ro /system
Then get sqlite installed via the sqlite installer app in the playstore or manually download and install the proper binary. I will try to get things fixed up ASAP but with the holidays upon us it may take a few days.
Problematic roms seem to include NKD v2, 4.4.2 for gs5 sport, and a few other 4.x roms on the gs5.
There is still a lot of work to be done on this and I appreciate the effort from those who have tested, and those who provided feedback.
Thanks and happy holidays

How to manually install SQLite
Lets try this. I am attaching two different versions (just to have) of SQLite. One is for 4.4.2 and the other is for 5.0 (Android L).
Unzip the one for 4.4.2 and using a Root Explorer like the one built into Rom Toolbox, copy it to system/xbin overwriting the one that is there if prompted.
Then long press on the file system/xbin/sqlite, select permissions and change it to 0755.
Note:
Flashable versions of SQLite added if you anyone needs them but must have custom recovery installed.
I wonder if NE5 uses the pie binary like 5.0? FWIW the app downlosds a pie binary for anything with a sys version of 5.0 or higher, and non pie for anything under 5.0. Whatever the case I have a user reporting a similar problem on the gs5 sport running 4.4.2, so maybe I just have a bad copy of the non pie binary but its hard to make that call since sqlite installer also installs something that seems not to work.
For the people having issues, can you also run sqlite from a terminal emulator or adb by issuing the following command:
su
/system/xbin/sqlite3
If the binary is bad it should return a message similar to segmentatuon fault.

I updated my post to include flashable zips. I 'think' the 5.0 pie version runs fine on 4.4.2 too but posted both anyway. Maybe add a link to the OP if you need to later on for manual and flashable versions with howto for manual installation.
Anyway, have a nice Xmas Mike.

Update:
BTW, I did flash something that relies on sql with the pie binary on NE5 and it did seem to take.

Cool thx for the help. Maybe I will add some logic to the app to try each until it finds one that works.
Merry xmas to you too @tdunham

Update:
Just realized that my app is expecting the "which" binary to be there and functional, which is not always the case. This means that having busybox installed may be a pre-requisite for now

[DEGOOGLING] Change location service provider (Get location working on degoogled)

Hi there,
I've degoogled my phone a few days ago and since Google provides the location services on Phones, I need to find a way to find a replacement to get GPS working again.
This is very important to me as I need GPS for navigation and some apps won't run without real time location.
Help would be appreciated.
MicroG fixed it.

Hello! Can you tell me how did you do it? I installed MicroG but the error from Maps is still there.

How did you install it? Did you flash it or just installed the core apk?

No! Vanced MicroG is MicroG for YT Vanced. It doesn't even contain the GmsCore package.
I will send you the link to a flashable zip in a minute. If you don't have a custom recovery I'll also send you a direct apk but I'm not sure if this will work.

Ok you will find both attached below in a ZIP file \/
PLEASE INSTALL BOTH APKs IF YOU ARE USING THE APK METHOD!
If this does not work I will recommend you rooting your phone. Just note: You may have problems with warranty n' stuff (Tbh. I never had any problems even with a rooted phone but I recommend you to think twice) and you need Magisk Canary instead of stable because off this new dynamic system partiton sh*t. There is a tutorial how to flash twrp and it isn't that hard.
Cheers

Hmm... I think google Maps won't work without the official Google Play Services. Try a different app like OsmAnd+ (free on F-Droid) and see if it can read your location. If not, something is wrong with the APKs (It didn't work for me either to be honest so I'm using a flashable ZIP file and it works fine).
But please try OsmAnd+ and also check if other non-navigation apps like WhatsApp or Weather can read it.
