[Q] Jellybam Rom no wifi tether - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Can anyone please help? I'm not allowed to post in the correct place as I've not made 10 posts but can someone guide me to help with wifi tether problems with the latest update to Jellybam 5.0.0
Someone has asked this exact question in the developer's forum but they've been completely ignored.
Thank you

If you can't turn it on,,,,, you can use Power Toggles from play store....:good:

I've tried that. It's not that I can't turn it on - I select to start wifi tethering but it never actually gets running. I don't get a notification in the task bar that's it's running and nothing connects.

data packet isnt running
may data packet isn't running too, even if it's enabled. I observed is yesterday. im on 5.0.0 since last week.
thanks for help.

Wheres this jallybam ROM for our phone

I may be wrong, but isn't Jellybam 5.0.0 for the I9100 version?
Thrown at your face by my T989

I have the I9100 so, bringing this back - can anyone shed light on the fact that wifi tethering doesn't work on the latest update?

You do realize this is the hercules forum...as in T989..no one can help you here. You dont need 10 post to post this question in the i9100 q&a forum.

What's the Hercules forum got to do with this? I've posted this question elsewhere,I DO need 10 posts to post this question to the developer's who have completely missed/ ignored this problem.

Hercules owners can't run this rom ... That's what it has to do with it.

But not for you phone. We can't help you here.

I have this same problem. Only WiFi tether not working

Same here =

So I now have Jellybam V 5.1.0 and STILL no wifi tether!!!! Can someone throw light on this please?

That is not a T-Mobile base, so therefore Wi-Fi tethering is not possible...

I was so excited to upgrade to JB didn't even think about this until I tried using it today. I was about to make a thread until common sense kicked in. Glad I searched before I posted or I would have been burned at the stake.
:silly:
It works on PA rom, not on leaked Touchwiz. I have nandroids of both, if need tethering, restore PA, it takes few minutes only.
CyanogenMod 10 and AOKP have it built right in. Works flawlessly.
As far as Touchwiz roms, though, nothing is working yet.
Is it a restriction in Jellybean that prevents third party wifi tether apps from working which the Android developers did, or is it just a compatibility issue which will be fixed in future updates of Jellybean or the tether app?
As mentioned in last 2 posts, it does work on some JB roms, so it's not a JB limitation.

Delete all of the tether apps you've installed, wipe Dalvik cache, and use the native tethering app. blue tooth or usb are the only options

You can use the native one on CM10 or AOKP, but not in TW.

Are you sure? I asked the question in the jellyblazed topic and someone using it replied that wifi tether is not working? See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33018998&postcount=103

wifi tether is not working, however you can use the native tether via bluetooth or usb. i would have posted in the jellyblazed thread but my status does not allow me to post in development forums.

Ya I'm sure it works on Verizon just fine. Youre in the sprint forum. Sprints hotspot is setup differently which is why verizons has a hack and sprints doesnt. I could flash a stock verizon rom to my sprint phone and tethering will work.Sprint ****d our hotspot capabilities with the update. I will say tho and it must be some random fluke that while running a leak, LIH I believe, the hotspot worked once or twice when I tried it.

Same Here, will be very glad when we get this solved.
Detailed Problem Description
I have searched and read quite a bit on this issue and do not have a clear understanding of what is actually the core issue here. Best I can tell, Sprint changed the interface/API to something with JB that prevents 3rd party tething. If that is accurate, not sure what that is specifically. If that is the case, it doesn't explain why it supposed works on some JB ROMs. Similarly, if it works in ICS and not JB, one would think that the API would not be the issue.
Several have implied that the native CM10 tether works since it is based on AOSP; however, mine will present as an AP and allow clients to connect but the data just doesn't pipe through. On that note, I have seen reports that non-TW ROMs work.
I am clearly not the expert on this matter but would find it useful is someone that does have real insight could clear the rumor air on what is and isn't really the issue.
Works!
This is an old thread, but if you're here, don't despair. Works like a charm for me (stock, rooted sprint s3) following the links in qbking77's video: Free Wifi Tether/Hotspot for the Samsung Galaxy S III on Jelly Bean

[Q] what's the best ROM for GSIII and why?

Development is still ongoing for wifi tether.
There are about as many threads in q and a on this topic as there are roms... Seriously, there are some good tw based roms and several original development roms... You will need to get yourself educated as to rooting and flashing and trying out the various ones out there... I could tell you aokp rules, and that suggestion, in its own right, would create so much debate that you would never get a satisfactory answer.
Get your flash on, and do some reading too.... There are plenty of good roms.

[Q] WiFi JB?????

I believed I've lightly touched on the question, and being in and around this forum the last year my android knowledge is increasing( at a turtles pace but increasing) everyday. My thing is I just came back to samsung with the siii two weeks ago so I'm new again it seems like to the functions and what not. What I' curious to know is are JB roms able to use the wifi tether? If so which ones? I go into android development and search the forum and so many come up I'm confused as to which does which. I'm under the understanding that only ICS roms can wifi tether. I'm on stock rooted so as of now I'm pretty good on the wifi tether but I'm so eager to flash another rom so again I search in the android development forum here for ICS ROMs and I get alot of them that have ICS and JB in the title so I'm like SUPER confused as to which ones will work with the wifi tether? My job kinda prevents me from fully reading thru all the OPs to find out which ones will work with wifi tether, so far the only roms I've found with just ICS in the title are a criskelo (sorry if I mispelled) and a GOODNESS ROM. I dl the goodness ROM but when I try to copy to my sd card I get an error that the device not recognized or something which is obsurd because I drag and drop music to my phone almost daily smh. Well anyway not to deviate off subject can anybody help a "Playa" out?
You have to use a modified version of WiFi tether and it works on all ROMs.

If you're looking for the note 2 app, you might have better luck asking the question in note 2 forum. The app that's been posted here has worked well for the SG3....not sure if it'll perform the same on the Note 2

Can someone please help? I was running wifi tether for root users for months but I have been having issues connecting my kindle for the past 3 or 4 days. I recently flashed a new ROM, wicked jb v5 but even after that it was still working flawlessly. I updated my wicked jb to v6 ROM today but it still doesn't work. Can someone please help me because the tethering is so necessary for me as I'm sure it is for a lot of other t-mobile rooted customers.

[Q] Question

Hi i just got a new galaxy s4 from tmobile and i wanna get a rom that is the pure android experience BUT i need to have wifi calling, my phone service in my area of town is a dead zone, so wifi calling is a must for me
before anyone says anything i have tried using the search function and came back with nothing, so i figured that this would be the next best spot to ask
thanks in advance
If you searched then you know that TMO roms are the only ones that have that feature, if you are asking, what rom is best for that, you may need to look past that, because on xda, best rom threads are NOT allowed. So, pick a TMO rom, try it, and try them until you find one that works best for you.
Thank you, good luck.

Well you are out of luck, there is no such rom which is pure android and which has wifi calling.
In order to have wifi calling the rom MUST be Tmobile/M919/Jellybean/4.2/Touchwiz based
custom or stock rom. Those are the only kind which includes and have the wifi calling feature..
Good luck!
I'd root, and remove bloat with titanium backup.
You could then flash your ge rom of choice.
But, if you need the tmobile touch wiz stuff go with wicked 8.
