I have rooted and bootloader unlocked my One X with no problems using the toolkit One_X_ATT_All-In-One_Kit_v2.0
After rooting it and unlocking the bootloader I used the phone for a couple weeks periodically checking to make sure they stayed unlocked. I have had no problems
I want to install a custom rom so tonight I followed the instructions to the "T" here: http://theunlockr.com/2012/04/28/how-to-install-clockworkmod-touch-recovery-on-htc-one-x/ and I installed Clockwork Mod touch.
It installed fine according to the command prompt replies. Following the instructions I then typed: fastboot reboot in the command line. The phone shut off and never rebooted.
It now will not boot and I have no red LED charge indicator anymore. It does nothing at all.
I tried the VOL down hard reset and I get nothing, I've removed the sim and tried it again with nothing.
The battery was fully charged when I did all this.
Can somebody please help me figure out how to get this phone working again. My wife bought it for me for Christmas from Amazon Wireless for $599.99. It was purchased at full price and SIM unlocked so we wouldn't have to extend our contract. If my wife finds out it is not working I'll never hear the end of it..... I would really like to avoid this and get it going asap.
Thank you!
You're posting in the Endeavoru forum with stuff about the Evita. In hboot what does it say at the top?
If it say Evita, you need to post in the One XL forum and install software from there and follow guides from there.

I'm posting in the HTC One X>One X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting Forum..... Not sure what your talking about with Endeavoru or Evita...
My Phone is a One X, Not a One XL.
If you go to your bootloader it might make more sense.
The phone we talk about here is a quad core Tegra 3.
Hold the volume - button and the power button down together until it restarts in the bootloader, do not let go of the buttons until you see the bootloader !
And he's asking this because the toolkit you are using is from the wrong forum, of you have an endeavoru phone......that's why we need to know what is on the top of your bootloader !

Oh sorry, I misunderstood what he ment. The phone will not do anything, will not go into bootloader or anything. It seems completely dead.
I took it to the AT&T store and they tried to get it to something, anything at all and they too had no luck. It appears I have bricked it.
I now have no idea what to do with it to restore it.
Well I learned something new today. I had no idea there were two different models of the same phone. I think I said that right.
Thanks for the replies guys!
Could the batt be totally dead, leave it on a charger for a while and check if it boots into the bootloader ?!
If u have an AT&T HOX so u are in wrong forum. This is for HOX International.
Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
Yes there are two versions of the one x.
To the rest of the world the one x is a quad core tegra 3 device with the codename endeavoru.
In the US the one x is a dual core Qualcomm device with the codename Evita.
So a far as your aware you have a one x. But to the rest of the world. Your device is actually the HTC one xl.
And as such you have flashed something designed for a different phone.
If I recall correctly there are other people in the past who have Also made this same mistake and bricked their device.

True, but the method to get it at least to the bootloader is the same......at least one step in the right direction, after that the correct forum.
It doesn't boot at all so the type of phone is still a doubt here. I have seen people here on AT&T but they bought a unlocked endeavoru somewhere else

I am aware of this now....and yes, it appears bricked. Lesson learned!
My wife purchased the device from Amazon Wireless Unlocked and at full retail to avoid extending our AT&T Contract so there is no telling which model I have. I can't get into bootloader now.
Thanks everyone
Good luck ! Send it in for repair and hope for the best
To be fair i don't think the type of phone is in question here.
The att toolkit is for the one xl
The fact that you used the at&t toolkit to root which worked shows you have the HTC one xl
Using that toolkit to root the tegra version would result in the ROM not loading as it would be flashing a kernel for a different phone.
When you flashed the recovery partition for the tegra one x. At the point that you powered the phone off. It is in recovery mode.
As the recovery is not for your phone its likely messed all the filesystem's up and caused a brick

I inquired at AT&T and because they didn't sell it, they wont do anything. Because I've been with AT&T for 23 months, They did offer to send me a refurbished phone in exchange for mine for a $250 fee.
My only other option is to send it to HTC but I dont know what they charge for repair.

Your correct. The AT&T tool kit did work for the root and unlocking the bootloader... The only recovery that came in the tool kit is TWRP and I wanted clockwork mod due to the fact I am used to it and comfortable using it so I went browsing around looking for the Clockwork mod install for the One x when I stumbled upon a thread on XDA pointing to this site I posted in my original post that offered instructions to install CWM so I followed it and here I am now.....
I appreciate all the replies and I assure you I feel very foolish that I have done this. I have always been very careful with my previous devices in making sure something like this didn't happen so I am disappointed in myself for being so careless this time.
Jess
Most likely reason he bricked his phone is from flashing CWM which is incompatible with the ATT One X. I have seen people bricking their phones flashing it on their forums.

Seems the legend that is Paul O'Brien has successfully rooted a locked phone...if you wish to try then please go to the MoDaCo site to get the link

True but not everyone has access to RUU's, a lot of suppliers havent put out ones for the 1.28 base so all those who have done an OTA update can no longer use the 1.26 RUU because of the updated HBOOT.

Probably directly from HTC, seeing as he helps them out with things
this method fortunately does NOT work!
i tried to install new ROM. It couldn't make a new tmp/update_binary to I rebooted to Fastboot
Now my phone won't turn on, no LEDs come on.
HOWEVER, when plugged into my computer, the computer recognizes that something's been plugged in (with that du-doo) noise, but then quickly makes the (da-da-da) noise to inform me that the USB device isn't working.
Where do I go from here. I've searched for hours on this issue...
Let's get the stupid questions out of the way first: did you try to boot to bootloader? (hold voldown and power 15sec)
Can you see the device in windows device manager? Any info there?
Sent from my HTC One X
Thanks for response,
It has not booted into the bootloader. And still won't
Dev Manager gives me a Code 10 for the device (device won't start)
I got another Code 28 (wrong drivers) for some device called QHSUSB_DLOAD, but that might be something else.
Are you sure you have the international tegra 3 one x?
It seems it is stuck in QHUSB_DLOAD-mode which is a qualcomm specific mode.
It seems your phone is bricked pretty hard, but I'll try to solve this.

Ok, I followed all the details from the videos on onexroot's website .
1. I used the videos found on one x root's website to root my AT&T One X.
2. I also used his videos to install a rom. Sorry I tried posted the youtube links so you could see exactly what I did but these forums will not allow me to post links yet. GRRRRRR (but I understand why.)
3. This is the rom that I used I used a rom off the one x root site as well. (click on One X rom and scroll down to the second one. IceColdJelly AOKP Android 4.2.1 ROM for HTC One X!)
4.I placed the rom in its own directory on my phone "ROMs"
Everything went fine through the whole process. I created a back up, checked to make sure the back up was there .. it was. I did a wipe, and installed the new rom. I press the reboot and then it was dead.
The phone is black.
I have pressed the power button for all periods of time. Power + volume -, Power + Volume+.
When i connect the phone to my pc via usb, I can not see it.
I have charged it for 45 mins now .. nothing.
Tired fastboot reboot bootloader, and got "deviced not found"
I downloaded HTC Sync and the RUU from their site. When I run RUU it says it can not find a connect device.
Am I Screwed here. I really think that I have done a much as I could find online before posting in here like a noob (which I am.)
Thanks in advance for the help
Cory
Dont think the international versions of our ROMS will work on an AT&T Variant, you should probably try to flash an AT&T Rom.

there are a few places, using official htc software, in china that you can send your HOX to get s-off, some people did, sold their devices and some lucky guy got it, there are of course the preview devices that were sent to sites, magazines and some devs with s-off from HTC, so yes, there are s-off'ed HOXs running in the wild, if I could I would send mine too.
Some phones come back from repair with s-off.....some come out the factory with s-off.....
Just happend to some !
You can also run the 3.14.708 ruu which you can download from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189048
Then you have stock JB software on your phone.
Thanks a lot guys! I am OTAing at the moment, installing the 3.14.708.28 right now, Chinese people have a way to get phones s-off and super CID. Not sure exactly how they do it but I got it like this, it is refurbished though. So basically after unlocking the bootloader, root and a custom recovery I can flash a rom just like old gen phones.. Copy the zip to sd, perform wipes and install zip from sd.. No need to flash the boot.img seperately from fastboot.. Is that true?
Basically its true yes, but.....many rom devs took out the boot.img flash script because not many people have a s-off device.
Do if you hit a bootloop its wise to flash the boot.img manually
Thanks a lot for the information Mr Hofs, really appreciate it!
So all is fine now ?

You do know that my comment is from 2013, yes?
lol
So, if you're S-OFF you can flash the radio separately if I remember correct.
But, despite it being a beautiful phone with a good camera and arguably
the best form factor ever with the three capacitive buttons that can be
swiped for screen on-off and the 2.5D display,
it's a REALLY old phone, and unless you got it for under 70 bucks
it's not worth the money and the time unless you're an enthusiast and you want the experience of owning it.
if you flash a stock RUU I believe you will lose s-off or maybe it won't even flash. Do some research on both HOX and HOX+ forums since they run similar chipset(the + is just factory oveclocked).

I can't remember anymore, it's been 4 years since I last played with the HOX, I believe that all the procedures remain the same since it's an older device and noone bothered to look into it more since it was running a Tegra chip, that made it a difficult device to work with as for example NVIDIA never open sourced the kernel and everything had to be written from zero.
Being S-OFF on the HOX just gives you the luxury of flashing radios separately and engineering bootloaders (I think) and being able to return the phone to untampered for warranty purposes.
I know I'm not a big help but this is the reason I turned to Qualcomm based devices that are easier to get custom kernels and ROMs then.
Also bear in mind that I'd spend dozens of hours researching for that device progressively with the development so I could see the steps on new things one by one, there's probably a megathread with all that info somewhere in here.
EDIT: Why do you need a different region RUU? Do you need to keep it stock? There aren't any updates anymore, if you like the stock look try Android Revolution ROM by mike1986, it's not being developed anymore but it's a great rom with great battery life and all the HTC goodness without anything else bogging it down.
I'd love to get my hands on an S-off hox+ or even a normal one. that feeling it had in your hands was amazing.
I recently took a backup in clockworkmod, as I installed a new ROM.
Now I want to go back, as that ROM was bad, and I like the old one better.
I then went to Clockworkmod, then restore the old backup and rebooted. It was stuck at booting, and wouldn't do anything.
I then cleared cache, wiped data and factory settings and restored the backup again.
Same issues.
I then cleared cache and rebooted again... Same issue
Anyone know what I did wrong? I would like to know what to do...
Thanks in advance!
Can you please post your hboot details?

I have the HTC One X. It's from May 2012.
I updated that HBOOT when I installed the old Renovate ROM.
You're in the wrong forum, this is the One XL forum. I'll ask for your thread to be moved to the right place.

One X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Why is this the wrong forum?
AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL
Trust me. This is not the right forum for you, the title is a bit confusing because at&t and Rogers market this phone as the One X, but it's actually the One XL. You need to use the device search window at the top of the page to find your forum.

So what's the difference between my HTC One X and this forum's HTC One X?
Your phone has the quad core tegra CPU. This forum's phone has a dual core qualcomm CPU and LTE. Software, hardware, and partitions are not the same and therefore not compatible. Plus, nobody on this forum has any experience with your device so we can't offer any guidance.
Your phone: HTC One X (codename Endeavor)
My phone: HTC One XL (codename Evita)
This may seem confusing but this forum is strictly for the One XL. It only says One X in the title because some carriers stupidly marketed this device as the One X, it causes a bit of confusion.
I've asked for this thread to be moved to the appropriate device forum so the people there can help you out.
Also, my advice to you is to find your device's forum, bookmark it, and stay in it. If you flash any software found on this forum you could brick your phone.

Well that be damned... My phone wasn't even indexed, so when I did CTRL+F and looked for One X, this was the only forum I could find.
Oh well... I'll send the phone in for repair (after I've installed stock ROM and un-rooted it).. We'll see if I get a new phone, as the WiFi card has a faulty connector, and only provides half WiFi signal.
So either I'll get a new One X, or a new One (I hope I'll get a One instead).
Take care, and thanks

I usually use http://forum.xda-developers.com/ (the forum tab) when finding stuff... Therefore not indexed where it should be!

It is indexed where it should be, you're supposed to use the device search box to find your device and make sure you're getting stuff from the right place. Searching and getting software etc from the wrong spot is a sure fire way to damage your device.

Moved to the international One X forum.
In CWM you have boot.img in backup folder are you flash via fastboot with fastboot flash boot boot.img
Thanks for moving this. I've decided to revert to stock, as I need it repaired anyway.
I will keep this here, so I can go back and use it whenever I receive it back.
