Allshare hub/dongle - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I received my Allshare hub yesterday and of course it doesn't work, because I'm rooted and have TWRP recovery. I used Triangle Away, but I need to change the recovery to the stock.
If anyone knows a link to the zip that can be flashed from TWRP I would really appreciate it.
I am on the new UVALL4.
Thanks

I just got mine the other day and it would disconnect after ten seconds. Used triangle away and it worked great. I'm rooted and on jedi. On CWM aand not stock. Dunno if it makes a difference though.

Thanks for your reply.
I tryed anything that I can think of, short of going back to stock completely.
As far as recovery, I tryed TWRP, CWM and Stock.
I tryed stock Odexed and Deodexed, but I was always rooted.
I tried Perseus kernel also....
Triangle Away says "Count 0" and Binary "official" (I think).
The About Phone it STILL says "Modified", no matter what!
This *****g thing disconnects after 10 sec. every time!
I'm gon'a lay down and cry a little bit now....:crying:

I'm not sure but I read in another thread that if you root via Mobile Odin the device status will read "normal". I'm considering doing this as I have not updated my phone yet to the latest update that fixes the exploit. I rooted via the exploit abuse (stock) and am using the AllShare hub which is working flawlessly (which is why I'm hesitant to do the update).

Is your device status reading now "normal"?
EDIT: I wish one (or more) of our Devs would take that Allshare app apart and remove that freaking "check" from it..

Yes, device status is "normal". I just rooted to debloat and add mods that don't require a custom recovery.

I picked one of these up last week, myself. I have to say that I'm pretty impressed for what it does. However there can be improvements i.e. display refresh lag through the dongle could be tightened up and an option to address overscan.
Now it was a bit of a chore to get this working. Here's the current config on my phone, as reference for your efforts:
- Jedi X9 ROM
- stock T889UVALK8 kernel
- stock T889UVALL4 baseband
- Tri-Angle away showing '0'
- Device is reported as being 'modified'
So it seems as if DRM checks the kernel and number of flashes, IMHO. I'll update the kernel, once the LTE update comes out and if a new kernel is required for it to work (hopefully it's just the modem). I don't want to update the kernel just yet, as I don't want to risk losing root. I know that there are ways to recover it, but the features in the new factory ROM weren't enough to invest the possible recovery time.
Good luck!

interesting. So for the dongle to continue to work it's just a matter of the kernel being stock (with no flash count) and it really doesn't matter if the phone status is modified or not?

I did find while trying to use the dongle today that I had to use triangle away in order for it to work again. Really don't want to have to do that every time. Can't be good.

does stock baseband perform on jedi

I would like to know if anyone has tried this method after using either the saber kernel 9 or 10, and if so what performance hits we take for going stock, would really like to use my Allshare dongle... Thanks

I will try stock kernel over the weekend and let you guys know how it went...
Right now I'm on Perseus kernel with stock deodexed LL4 and TWRP recovery.
(I should remember to make a nand before changing the kernel...right?...lol...)

Pretty sure I remember seeing you need to have stock recovery for it to work right. Or you have to use triangle away first, which, since I don't have stock recovery right now, is what I've been having to do each time. Haven't had to time to put everything back to stock but as soon as I get the chance I'll report back.

All you need is stock kernel after that use triangle away and your good to go. Then If by any chance you need to use recovery I.E cwm/twrp... just remember you will have to use triangle away after use. Now has anyone got it working on any other kernel other than stock? ?? Please let me know

I tried Jedi X9 with a stock kernel, and tried every option on triangle away paid version, but no Allshare cast connection ugh. I am guessing that I have to flash the modem to stock as well? Honestly this is not something that I want to do without at least an encouraging "this worked for me"... Anyone? Thanks.

I used all the features of triangle away (free version).
When I was on Perseus it was changing it on the spot, with stock kernel it had to go into a special recovery to do it, but upon reboot the flash was again showing 1.
None of the above works.

SGH-T999 T-mobile Getting Firmware Update Via KIES

As of right now T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 known as SGH-T999UVLEM is upgrading to a newer Version which is SGH-T999UVLH2
I don't think the over the air (OTA) mode is working right now because I did many tries and it keep saying device up to date so if you want to try it us KIES. if you version of KIES is not up to date you will have to update it first then you will be able to upgrade the phone.
it will take about 10 to 15 minutes of your time and it will depend on your connection.
everything like root will be gone after the update. :victory:
ok after you update, you will be able to go back and use the same method you use to to root the older version and install a different boot.
mine is working fine I don't find any problem yet.

Anyone know what this update is for?
So I guess posting in one wrong section wasn't enough right? Stop trolling and keep this where it belongs in the general section.

this is not any good for us that are rooted and running a customer recovery.
Available for download form here, no Kies necessary.

Just reflash the custom recovery in Odin and flash the root file. Unless you mean not good for those that are running custom ROMs then that's a different story.
do the developers here give the okay to update to this, for those of us who are fully stock and not rooted? will we be able to get root easily still(with the same methods), even after this update?
Good question. I second that.

That's the Windows 98 diagnostic approach "re-install the OS and see if that fixes it"
Are you saying it works fine for you?
I'm just curious... what are the improvements? I haven't seen that question yet
I hear you, no one is reporting anything about the update and I'm wondering if it's even worth doing. I wouldn't mind updating but sometimes you don't get the results and blind updates makes me wonder anyways.
Just going from memory so may leave something out. Its been mentioned but its scattered due to so many threads about the update.
New kernel, new radio (some report grand improvements), camera updated and has new features, reportedly better stability and battery, brightness slider added to notification window.,....ugh, damn now I'm blanking out on this! I know there's more, just escaping me at the moment. Ill post more when I think of it.

FWIW, the Kies update isn't working with Win 8.
it'll install, but will close when you try to run it.
Edit: sorry I got it updated but I'm still trying to get root now and using the tool kit is out dated and I can't seem to find info for it, anyone have a way to root after latest update.
Edit 2, all set. I even foubd a few things I havent seen posted yet. We'll see if it pans out but im good.

UNROOT sgh-t999v

i need to unroot my s3 for warranty purposes but i cannot find proper procedures for the the model sgh-t999v..
i have 2 questions,
1. can i just root a stock rom for sgh-t999 to my sgh-t999v?
2. anyone have the procedures to unroot my sgh-t999v

Flash a stock rooted Rom. T-Mobile one. That seems to be ok as long as you don't flash a T-Mobile radio.
Not sure if triangle away works on the Canadian version.
Maybe someone else has tried it.
All I had to do to return my last one was flash a stock rooted Rom.

I can see you have a Videotron Galaxy S3. They don't check the flash counter. Let's just say I know this "by experience". As long as it's just rooted and you don't have any custom ROM, you should be fine. But indeed if you can at least hide the SU app it would be a good thing.
You could also perform a factory reset in CWM prior to going to the store, as they will make you do it anyways (and you actually don't want them to see the CWM screen)prior to any exchange. It's company policy.

If your trying to go back to stock, just download the stock rom from sammobile, it has everything you need like stock recovery, and then just flash it via odin.

Thanks!
I'll test it tonight, wouldn't look good to download a 700 mb file at work!
I tried a few firmwares, but for some reason they all said "unsupport dev_type" when trying to use odin to return to stock non root (from stock rooted) In the end, the easiest way to remove root was to just let Kies update my gs3 to Jelly Bean (sgh-t999v). Painless, no data loss, took about 30 minutes with the firmware download.
Good luck
You will likely also want to triangle away. I won't link because it's extremely dangerous software that requires you to read up on the risks.
But that will reset your custom flashes assuming you have some on your counter you can check easily by going into download mode.
i recently lost my stock rom backup.. deleted it off clockworkmod touch by accident, so i only have the cm10.1 nightly i was running when i deleted it.. now i'm assuming i will lose root if i flash the stock firmware through odin? is there another way to get my stock rom back without losing root (and cyanogenmod rom backups)?
hey guys im having trouble with triangle away on my sgh-t999v with the baseband version: T999VVLUFNF1
after I used triangle away and I go into download mode it says:
current binary: Samsung Official
System status: official
qualcomm secureboot:enable
Warranty Bit:1
Bootloader AP SWAEV: 2
Although the current binary and the system status have changed the warranty bit is still at 1
Please help!
There is no way (and never will be a way) to change the Warranty Bit. Sorry

I guess im screwed for warranty..I thought it might be cuz I have a custom kernal installed that triangle away didnt work..but thanks anyway and sorry about posting in multiple threads, im kinda new to this
No problem, thats why i mention it, so you know for the future.
Tecnically, with the warranty bit tripped, the warranty is void. However, i have seen a lot of posts where people sent it in anyway and their warranty was still honored. Its not a guarantee, but there is hope it can be used if needed. The good thing though, is you most likely will never need to use it anyway!

Upgrading to T-Mobile 4.3 via OTA

Just checked for updates as described in other threads and it found the latest 4.3 update. I have read both positive and negative responses to the update. Some found things they used in 4.1.2 that are being taken away. Some like the new features in 4.3. It will vary from person to person whether the ROM is better for them or not. Fact is, all devices (current and future) are moving forward.
Should I just install the update? Should I make a copy of my current setup with one of the recoveries, then odin back, and run triangle away?
Strange. I went ahead and updated. Even after doing two complete resets, I still have SU app from 4.1.2. I guess it carried the program during the upgrade process?

it basically dirty flashed the new update over your 4.1.2. I honestly didn't care much about the KNOX boot loader since my warranty is already over. but, I find not having to flash devil kernel so much easier w/ less lag.

So I have a question I hqvent been on in a while and last I checked the newest update came with a locked bootloader. I know it did for the s3. I liked the newest software on the s3 but I jus5 cant stand all that bloat and not having full control of my phone. That s3 was killing me. theyre for different companies i believe. as how ours (T889) also has a T889v ( i think thats the right letter) version as its for a different conpany. I installed using the ATT one. there's really no difference because you're just going to flash a tmobile modem over it.

yes the boot loader is locked. I don't believe there's a workaround it yet. but I'm even sure. you can scroll around through the threads and see if there is. what I did was just update it anyways and tripped my KNOX boot loader to ox1. I didn't have warranty anyways so I'm not tripping over it. and then I just rooted it, flashed cwm and started to flash ROMs.

I wrote instructions on how I rooted. there could be other methods to. this is easiest for me! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2562994
if you're going to end up on aokp, you should just stay on the 4.1.2 boot loader. the update to me is really only for TW roms because the stock ROMs are working just fine w/o the new boot loader.

Did you try root method #2 in the link that audit13 provided you with? It will root you and remove knox so you won't have knox trying to block SuperSU. But it will certainly void any warranty you may have (if the things you have attempted haven't done so already).

Si have done that also & many other Still no change
Flash TWRP with Odin via PDA
Reboot to recovery then flash SuperSu and the Knox Remover
Everything showed Success
After downloading Super su its says binary something etc
Not success
The usual message is "binary needs updating" which is easy to satisfy.
But you got us guessing. 'something something' is hard to troubleshoot.

You have the first phone I have heard of that didn't take root after using method #2. I have done 3 so far with that method. After flashing SUbinary and knox remover, I downloaded SuperSU, opened it and it gives a message about updating something, allow it and then reboot to recovery wipe the cache and Dalvik.
I will do some reading perhaps I have forgotten something I did. If so I will edit this post...

Have you considered using a custom rom like maybe S3Rx it is very stable way better than AT&T 4.3 and it is pre rooted with no knox. Your warranty is already void anyhow check it out in the development section. I have to warn you though it is a large file due to all of the options it has for you to pick from as far as what you actually want to flash on the phone. That's what I'm running now and won't use anything else.

The S3Rx has less bugs than the stock 4.3 glad I made the switch, but it isn't for everyone. To each his own. But don't rule them out. I don't do nightlies because of the bugs I only do stable roms.
There is another stock 4.3 in the development section that is a stock AT&T rom and has knox removed with selinux set to permissive. It is pre rooted aswell it is by loserskater IIRC it's in a thread by updwn4par. Good luck and happy flashing.

Do a factory reset wipe cache and Dalvik from recovery that should fix it. If not try a different rom. Or perhaps a bad download did you check the md5?

Before the factory reset if you still have user data on it (because you dirty flashed) you should back it up with titanium backup. Factory reset, wipe and then restore data.

Did that also same result i was on openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-d2att
Changed to CWM-Recovery-LTE-SGS3-v5.tar
Did factory reset wipe/cache and Dalvik & installed it
Now it works Fully Even its rooted tested with adaway & triangle away.:good::good::good::good::laugh:

next stop rooted apps/games ......

[Q] New to Rooting, S4 M919 4.3 MK2 Tmobile Knox

Whoa, this has got to be one of the most unorganized forums on the internet. LoL, sorry, its just soooo hard to find clear, up to date info, that I had to make a thread here.
I basically decided its time to update my phone and I want to root it, mainly to get battery savings and stop google from running all those apps in the background (who knows what info they are gathering).
Anyways, like the title states,
I'm on Tmobile, with a M919 on 4.3 with MK2, I would like to go to kitkat and root and NOT TRIP KNOX, if possible.
I'd also be interested in custom roms, if possible, like CyanogenMod... But of course, I'd like to keep my warranty, as I've already had to use it once, and I still have 2 whole months left and wifi is acting up (I get a lot of unstable wifi messages recently, didn't check my router yet but my laptop is working fine....)
Your help is appreciated.
Thx
ohh, my wife's phone is on 4.2.2, she is due for an update too, she wants the emoticons so that's one "major" reason to update...
Perhaps I can switch phones with her, and update that one to a rooted 4.4.2 without tripping knox, if possible?? Please point me in the right direction... I also like many of the features that dbombmod rom has, like call recording and more..
Yours is gonna trip Knox.
Trade her for yours. And update your modem to nb4 this way:

Root with chainfire's autoroot method.

You wont trip KNOX

cool thanks, I will read up on safe root, but it looks like it may work. So once I'm rooted, I can install any rom right, even the 4.4.2 with knox removed and it would be fine right? And also the NB4 modem as well, and any kernel too?
My wife is hesistant to switch with me now because of the wifi unstable issue I have. I think I may have fixed it by clearing the Wifi Direct and Wifi Direct apps cache and data. Hopefully it is only a software problem, and not a hardware problem.
oyyy, after further reading, this does root the phone, but doesn't unlock the bootloader, and without an unlocked bootloader you cannot install custom roms, but I still didn't read if I can install another modem or another kernel???
what about towelroot? Does that unlock the bootloader?
tried towelroot on 4.3...
didn't work
updated to 4.4.2,
still doesn't work
ughhh
ohhh well, I guess I will switch phones with wife...
Lol. You can still download custom ROMs with a locked bootloader. If you do flash the NB4 modem you will definately trip KNOX. If you flash a non stock kernel you will trip KNOX and if you flash a custom recovery you will trip KNOX.

I finished setting up my old phone for my wife. I "Turned off" many of the apps that are installed that we never use, so her battery should do ok on 4.4.2
I just did towelroot on her phone, and it has instant root access, no reboot required or anything. Root Checker says I have root already. yay. Now I guess I need to update with modded firmware. Is there any particular order I have to install stuff?
Can I start with the rom, then modem, then kernel or is there a particular order I need to install stuff. And what should I use, odin or what?

You can flashbin any order. Some ROMs come with a kernel that they recommend but you can flash a different one if you prefer. If you DL Titanium Backup from the play store you can freeze any unwanted apps completely instead of just turning them off.

just to clarify, I did the towel root on her old phone on 4.2.2 which is my phone now.
towelroot didn't work on 4.3 nor 4.4.2
I just did a wipe on the 4.2.2 with clockworkmod setup and tried to install the fenny stock 4.4.2 rom and it came up with an error, something about expects 5 args got 4
should I use odin or something?

turn off Google now as well if she doesn't use it, saves a ton of battery! and you just flash the ROM and then the modem, kernel is in the rom.. read the guides on how to flash the NB4 modem on older bootloader, and read OP of the ROM you are flashing, there should be flashing instructions for you too, good luck!

Thanks, I searched and found out that TWRP is the way to go. I used flashify to install it and I was able to flash the new rom. Works good. I also got call recording to work, but not with wifi calls, is that something that never worked or its just a bug in my phone? I'm thinking of trying other roms to see if they got call recording with wifi calls, but that would take a lot of time.
I also did install the NB4 modem flash (twice like the instructions said) and its good, got 2 extra bars (but I doubt my signal got any better, they just want you to see more bars)

Interesting. Not sure what's different, but towelroot did work on my wife's MK2 4.3. Titanium Backup confirmed root and AdAway works so it would seem root access is there.

Completely stock TouchWiz 4.3. OTA update took it from 4.2 to 4.3. It's my wife's phone and she never had any desire for anything custom on it. The only reason I rooted it now was she asked if there was any way to block ads.
