so I use my S3 to tether my Note 10.1 all the time and it works, but it won't work with my new laptop, a Samsung Series 7 Chronos. What could I be doing wrong, or does Windows 8 note allow tethering to mobile devices?

So I run a Linux OS and have a Galaxy 3 on a C-Mod and now bought a new Note II.
I have my Galaxy 3 connected to the net by creating a Wi-Fi Hotspot on my Linux system.
However i can't seem to detect the hotspot or connect to it via Note II.
Can any body help me out please?
hello friends,
I have got a Samsung Galaxy Note II GT-N7100 along with android version 4.1.2.
recently i rooted the device with the help of Framaroot 1.4.1.
Later Used reverse tether 3.2 application to connect Wired 1mb speed- desktop internet on Note II.
Also, My Desktop PC has a Windows 7 32 bit OS.
I somehow started internet on Note II through Tethering from Windows PC. Sometimes it shows connection problem but little experience has allowed me to get it connected flawlessly otherwise.
Anyways My question is that Not all applications on Note II are getting connected to internet. Message pops up saying 'Oops! There is no internet connection. Check your network connection.' but in fact at the same time it can access YouTube HQ videos/ google.com/ IMDB 720p videos/ application updates. All these aforementioned applications only are running without enabling 'Mobile Data' thanks to Tether.
I don't understand why not all applications on Note II present are getting connected to the internet.
Waiting for your expert comments friends !

Back when I had a jailbroken iPad & iPhone I had an app that was installed on both devices that made tethering crazy easy. When I turned the screen on the iPad and it didnt detect a wifi connection, it would automatically connect to my phone via bluetooth(could be wifi as well) for an internet connection. Does such an app exist for Android, or is this something I am going to need to do manually?

Click to collapse
Even easier on Android no extra apps needed.
Just turn on tethering on your phone whatever phone it is and then connect to it via normal WIFI....simple as that.
Well it is from my S3 to Note 2014.
Sent from Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition via Tapatalk.
some of us are still on verizon unlimited and don't get the "free" tethering. i believe pdanet / foxfi may do that. i'm not actually sure as i've always been rooted with roms that have tether unlocked.
Does anyone know how to Reverse Tether using USB (Sharing Desktop Internet on Phone) on Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo-SM-N750 Rooted
I highly doubt if it's possible...
I just bought a Galaxy Tab 3 Android version 4.4.2 I'm hoping to Upgrade to 5 or better. It seems that version 4 has a bug that breaks Bluetooth tethering in pdanet, so i am unable to gain access to the internet without WI-fi tethering which is eating up my free high-speed tethering data though metropcs. My phone is rooted and i have frozen my tethering provision and my tethering automation using titanium backup. That keeps them from seeing me tether 'great' Problem is in order to tether thru Wi-fi, i have to defrost tethering Provision which now they can see me. Pdanet says it's Android version 4. I have version 4.4.2
supposedly that bug is fixed in version 5 if i understand correctly.
Thanx in advance for any help or advice. by the way im using foxfi with foxfi addon on my galaxy lite and Pdanet on my windows 10 laptop.
