You're not gonna get the OTA because of this:
Custom Binary Download : NO
Current Binary : Samsung Official
System Status : Custom
You can do 2 things.
#1. If you are rooted open super su and do a complete unroot. Restart the phone and do a factory reset. You should now be 100% stock. The OTA will work now.
#2. ODIN the stock update http://www.hotfile.com/dl/189254052/2d06338/T889UVALL4_T889TMBALL4_TMB.zip.html

Thank you, but what I dont understand, I never root nor do modify anything major as much as I can remember, why it suddenly changed to modified status without me doing anything in the past hour. What exactly did I do that made the System Status to CUSTOM?
But I guess I will wait until there's a major update before doing a reset

I wish that's the case with my note, tried restart, battery pulls, wipe cache, still showing status as modified, except on safe mode, status back to normal, but still cannot update via OTA, always getting try again error. Tried updating vie KIES, still no luck, somehow KIES stop responding everytime it's finished downloading the new firmware.

Try a factory reset man

just flash the link I posted, it wont increase your counter and will give you the latest update without wiping data.

Thank Killa ...
But after few tries, finally able to update vie Kies, it was stop responding for few times, had to force kill the process.
Updated to UVALL4 successfully from Kies, but status still "Modified" ...
Thanks for the replies guys ...

[Q] Is TriangleAway work on Samsung Galaxy S4 ?

Please tell me whether TriangleAway works on Galaxy S4 or not ??
Yes I used it to reset my flash counter.
No it does not currently work. The above poster probably tried it and it does reset the program to read 0. But as soon as your phone is rebooted it shows the old value again so it obviously does not update the counter. Chainfire will need to update it for the S4.

It does work on the GT-I9505 but you need to make sure the system status shows "OFFICIAL" if it shows "MODIFIED" the counter never decreases below 1. To have the "OFFICIAL" status, you need to flash the samsung original recovery through ODIN and use the option to disable SU for a few minutes after the phone reboot (it's in triangle away).
You may also need to factory reset after flashing the recovery on some phones.

You need to be using the stock firmware in order to reset it as well if you're using another rom it will obviously increase it to one again since the system is gone read it as modified... I've done it twice already and it worked pretty well...

Good to know... but mine started at 3, and stayed at 3 after once I rebooted. Before I rebooted the phone it said 0.
sorry if this is a stupid question, but where can I find the flash counter? When I reboot into DL mode I dont see any sort of "counter"

Has anyone found out how to get it back to normal for exchange.. my counter is at 4.. I can odin back to official status but will still have tripped counter. . Am I screwed

In my case, I used the CF-Auto-Root so the only changes made are the ones it made. I have the same result, it 'says' it reset until you reboot. I'm using the stock recovery. (unless autoroot changes it) so yeah, it definately has to be updated for the S4 esp with the 'update'.

How to make system custom to official(Galaxy S duos)

My phone shows status system status- modified.
How can I make to official again?
Please help me out.
Model- Samsung Galaxy S Duos(GT-S7562)
I have already reset binary counter to zero.
Rooted via "Galaxy S Duos S7562 Droidiser Rooting Kit" I found on one of the websites,
(used Odin3 v1.85 and flashed with recovery.tar and then installed CWM-Superuser-3.1.3 via clockmode recovery)
i dont think there is a known solution because i think it is something that samsung made to see if you have modified your phone in a way that you lose your warranty, like the speedometer in a car that is illegal to manipulate.

My try worked to success
I had reset binary counter using Triangle Away app.
But still system status was modified. and checking tick for modified system in Triangle Away didn't work either.
Finally, one of thread here, as per their suggestions, I did download the Firmware from the internet.
So I downloaded latest firmware from sammobile.com.
and through Odin, I flashed that .mdf file into my android.
and whoa....... my system status became 'normal', and the peak was, I got my deleted system apps back too.
I am happier now.
Thank you to all for helping me out. Thanks a lot.
(Look, I am not at all a professional in android system format and all, but I did know how to root using internet by all those kits and their procedures. In my rooted phone, Samsung Galaxy S duos, I did tried to map all possibilities of all applications and feast of super-user. But my curiosity about rooted phone was blown away when system status shown was 'modified' as well as binary flash counter to '11'. So I searched a lot for these to get normal. )

Yeah exactly. Now, my phone shows, in downloading mode,
custom binary download: no
current binary: samsung official
system status: official
and when checked in settings-about device-status, its shows,
system status: normal
I think these notifications are enough to show the phone is in warranty. and
Look, I have used 'Galaxy S Duos S7562 Droidiser Rooting Kit' included files
1. odin
2. CWM-Superuser-3.1.3
3. CWM-SuperSU-v0.96
4. recovery
5. stock_recovery
To root, I unzipped odin.zip, as per their stated procedures, started odin, flashed with recovery.tar file, and then through recovery mode I flashed CWM-Superuser-3.1.3 file and I got supersuser3.1 app installed, I got my phone rooted. I don't know what this procedure is called as in technical android, but I have followed these steps as per there suggestions. and finally checked root status using root-checker app, it shows 'root access success'.
(I refered :droidiser.com/2012/10/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s-duos-install-cwm.html)
and to un-root, as per internet website suggestions, I just choose an option from superuser3.1 app that un-installed app as well as makes phone un-rooted automatically.
and again through root-checker app checked for status of root access, it said 'no root access'.

You're very welcome. Could tell me some more info that how did you managed it root the phone without increment in counter? I'd be very thankful.
A method I did read on some website when first time I have decided to root the phone, unfortunately, I were not able to follow instructions properly, or the method was wrong, and my phone's binary counter incremented. I think I failed to start the phone in clock mode recovery, pressing buttons at the same time was difficult. I got the timing later. LOL.
Thank you very much. Bye.

Ota update failed problem

Well here is the problem .
I was in the university when I noticed the latest update is available for n7100! so I started to download it with my 3g connection downloaded about 10 mb and I noticed that I dont have enough airtime credit left to download it so I canceled the download. When I got home I tried to download it with wifi connection and it says it's the latest update what do I do I want the update sooo bad
Can any one who installed the update give some info about the os version and new features ?
Is there a flashable file of the new rom?
" Don't tell me that was a false update message and there is no such thing for now my heart can't handle that "

There used to be the OTA files update only available on sammobile, however I don't know if they're available anymore or not.
Secondly, it's not possible to say what has been upgraded until we don't know on what version you were/are atm, and what will be the updated version.
And lastly, when you are doing things like this, you need to have an unlimited plan or something.

Take backup of important data and factory reset, it may solve issue. But you have to download update again and rarely I have experienced still fails to update. In such cases kies/odin only can solve.

I'm having the same issue. Phone declares it is modified when it reboots, so it is related to being rooted. Been investigating to no avail.
Have fiddles with triangle away settings and SuperSU's survival mode.
Finally got there. Unfroze all frozen apps with Titanium backup, uninstalled busybox, xposed framework etc - i.e. used option in app to remove from rom. Not sure which of these got it working.
Killed off my root, but CF autoroot again and all is good. New rom seems more responsive initially, will have to see about battery life etc in the long term.
Update: The wifi would not work after update. Flashed afresh using kies, and all sorted.

[GUIDE][HOW-TO] Return device back to stock 'Official'!

So you want to return back to stock huh? Maybe to get official software updates? Maybe you want to sell your device? Or turn it in for a warranty thing cause you decided to give your phone to someone while you were drunk and that person cracked your screen. Well in any case, here is how I returned my GS4 back to stock official!
*Warning: Using this method will wipe your internal SD Card so back up your photos, music, and other precious files on your computer!
As many of you may know, Chainfire has an awesome app called Triangle Away that will reset your flash counter and return your binary status to Offical! Well good, download it cause you will need it for this process.
Things you will need
-Triangle Away app! (Thanks to Chainfire!) Get it here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
-CF-Auto-Root! (Thanks to Chainfire again!) Get it here ->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294005
-UVUAMDL Official TAR! (Thanks to k0nane!) Get it here ->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258628
Steps!
Step 0: If you haven't already backup your Internal SD on your computer!
Step 1: Place the Triangle Away app on your external SD Card!
Step 2: Using Odin, flash the UVUAMDL Official TAR following the instructions here. If you get stuck in a bootloop, do a battery pull, reboot to recovery, and wipe data/factory reset!
Step 3: With Odin, flash CF-Auto-Root to re-root your device!
Step 4: Install Triangle Away app and reset your flash counter! Follow the directions in the thread here.
Step 5: Once you have reset your flash counter, verify in Triangle Away that your flash counter is back to 0! (It should be at 0 because you should already be on stock recovery and kernel at this point).
Step 6: In SuperSU, perform a full unroot! This should uninstall SuperSU as well.
Step 7: Uninstall Triangle Away
Step 8: Verify that your device reads 'Samsung Official' for your Current Binary and 'Official' for System Status by going to Download Mode! Once complete do a battery pull and reboot your phone normally.
Step 9: Go to Settings > 'More' tab > About Device > Status > Device Status. If it reads 'Official' then you're lucky, congrats you are done! If not then don't worry, you are like me and have to perform the next step!
Step 10: Go to Settings > 'Accounts' tab > Backup and reset > Factory data reset. This will erase your internal SD Card!
Once completed your device status WILL read 'Official' and you will be able to receive Software Updates from Samsung once again! Hope I have helped you by returning your device back to unrooted Stock Official! Peace!

No, just unroot using Super SU, then reboot. Once you're back up, check for updates and they will now come through, then after the update is done, reroot, I just did all of that so I know it will work.
Didn't work for me. I removed quite a lot of Samsung apps and other things I don't need ( atm. 51 apps). I defrosted all of them to see it that was causing it. I also unrooted multiple times to no avail.

That's weird, I even forgot to defrost the Knox apps and the update still applied successfully. The Knox apps were the only ones I froze, and since the update was successful it must have unfrozen them when I un rooted, either that or the update didn't touch any files related to Knox, or maybe freezing apps still shows them as there to system and fw updates.
I'm getting the same message. I think it's because I deleted a few system apps, instead of just freezing them. I just have to find another copy of Windows, so I can use Odin.
I don't have anything deleted, unfrozen everything, unroot, keep getting the same message.

I did too, keep getting the same "device is modified" message.

I get " Your device has been modified, software updates are not available." when checking for OTA updates in settings. Does that mean I have to flash via Odin and wipe my device for every update?

Flash stock recovery solved the problem for me!
But after I downloaded to update it said that failed to update, and told me to use Kies. However on Kies it said latest update is already installed.
Anyone?

I am currently having the exact same problem.
one step i did when i got the error was to reroot and then unroot just to make sure that it unrooted properly and to unfreeze all the apps i had frozen. i also cleared the cache in recovery.

How do I get to recovery mode?
adb reboot recovery in a command prompt or terminal emulator.
or hold power and volume up at boot up.
Nothing worked for me to get the OTA. For some reason I was able to update using Kies. It took forever to download the update but it worked.

Evidently just unrooting doesn't do it for everybody, so the cache must be cleared as well to allow updates again.
