photosphere pics on 4.1.2? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

i know that i can use the 4.2.1 camera on 4.1.2 but thats not the problem. im currently using the camera/gallery app from a CM10 nightly pulled from my fascinate... reason being, its the only "stock" camera apk i can find that allows me to take pictures in 16:9. I want to try messing around with photosphere but does anyone know of a 4.2.1 camera apk thats modified to allow me to take pictures in 16:9. without having to crop or reformat them?

In 'Galaxy Nexus Themes and Apps' there is a photosphere for 4.1.2

Help me get rid of the 4.2 Camera App

I'm on stock 4.2 JB rooted and unlocked bootloader and all.
I hate the 4.2 camera. It's plain lame. I get it that the photosphere thing is nice, but it takes a lot of patience to get a decent pic. So, meh....not a big fan. The controls are OK..convenient settings instead of going thru 5 steps to adjust the exposure etc is good. But what I miss the most is live zoom in option. Its there in the 4.1.2 in video mode. Allows you to zoom in while taking a video. Where's that in the 4.2 camera? Also, I've noticed that the camera has become laggy. Doesn't focus as well as the 4.1.2 app did. I could really take at least 10 pics within 3-4 seconds..all with decent focu...but this thing does take 8-10 photos but all crappy and out of focus. Anyone else face this issue? Anywhoo....the bottom line is I hate the 4.2 camera. To each his own. I love everything else about 4.2. How can I get just the 4.1.2 camera back? I tried to extract it from my nandroids and TiBu ...and install it.....but it force closes on me. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get the 4.1.2 camera app on 4.2?
Lot of times the ICS camera, JB camera got released on its own and I remember having the ICS camera on my Atrix 4G running GB.
Help me get rid of my 4.2 camera app and get 4.1.2 back.........
Thanks,
vG

pull the gallery and camera apks from a 4.1.2 rom and push the apks to system/app set permission to rw- r-- r--. (delete the 4.2 camera and gallery before moving the 4.1.2 apks)
zoom is still there in both camera and video format. just pinch out (is there a such a term?) and you can zoom

You are my favorite person for today. I feel soo dumb for not trying that. Thanks. But I still don't like it for the way it focuses.

Photosphere and 4.2 Android Keyboard work

This is just being posted for others with the same setup and might have been wondering about compatibility.
I am running the CleanRom 4.05. I downloaded the zips for the 4.2 keyboard and the 4.2 photosphere camera. I flashed them and they are working fine so far. I did read that when using the Photosphere camera that you have to focus and take an initial picture to prevent it from crashing.
When downloading Photosphere it creates an app icon which looks like a camera and it creates another gallery. So you will have two icons that say camera and two that say gallery. Stock gallery and camera still work fine.
I got the links of this XDA site. I just searched for them. Sorry I don't recall which exact links I followed.

[REQ] Jelly Bean 4.1.2 Gallery and 4.2.1 Camera

Not your usual request, but could someone make a flashable zip of Jelly Bean 4.1.2 Gallery with 4.2.1 Camera? I think the new gallery and old camera apps are ugly.
afaik the gallery and camera app is the same apk. im not sure if its possible to do it.

if I remember then there is ROMs for Galaxy Nexus where is gallery2.apk and camera.apk but the camera from them usually force closes on JB 4.2.
but it would be really nice to have JB 4.1.x and JB 4.2.1 camera on Nexus because on JB 4.2.1 there is no "Silly Faces" and "Video Backgrounds" in the camera
although JB 4.2.x has video folder with the backgrounds in the /system/media/ and silly faces in the gallery apk.. :/
darn, I wish it'd have been possible. I really like the .1.2 gallery, but the camera is plain ugly
I've been looking and have not found. Did back to camera android 4.1.2 which was absurdly fast. Did a mod to install it along with the camera's default android 4.3.
Camera 4.1.2 is the best in speed.

Porting to 4.1.2 (cm10.0) camera app to 4.2?

I have been trying to get the old gallery2.apk from 4.1.2 to work in 4.2 The gallery itself works but the camera Force Closes. This is the error that occurs. It seems that this method has been discontinued in 4.2.
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: **android.hardware.Camera$Parameters.setCameraMode**
However it is possible to get it to work in 4.2 as this app has ported the ICS camera just fine.

Until recently this app by the same dev had the 4.1.2 camera working on 4.2. The latest update brought it up to the 4.2 gallery/camera.

Hopefully, a solution can be found. Anyone else have any ideas on how to approach this?
Are you using the Camera's lib files too?
You can't use CM camera on stock Android..
I have camera ics free (same dev as the jb+ camera) installed from the play store, it's very similar to the original jb camera and has all the video effects.

Using CM10.1 on my phone. I was able to find the old version of camera jb+ before they updated to the 4.2 gui, decompile it, replace the icons with the stock ones and rename the shortcuts to just camera and gallery. Works in 4.2 cm10.1 fine and is identical to the 4.1 camera app with a couple of extra features like volume rocker shutter.

Using CM10 camera should require its lib files and maybe some of the modifications into the source files /framworks/media/ or somewhere....

Kitkat Gallery and Camera (Android 4.4)

After I just saw, that KitKat's AOSP Gallery is supposed to feature an awesome photo editor
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOs0vLY6FvA
I tried to install the Nexus 5 Camera and Gallery APKs.
Camera: http://goo.gl/VEBuiq
Gallery: http://goo.gl/a2QHTA
Interesting enough, camera and gallery are now separate APKs. I was running the 4.3 versions before, but had to hack the camera so it runs on my i9305, and system libs filtershow_filters, mosaic, and lightcycle were required.
These APKs seem to run without root (?), and I was just able to install them like any other regular APK. I'm not sure though if that would be the case if I hadn't the 4.3 versions installed before.
Bugs:
- Gallery's photo editor FCs (damn)
- Camera's photo sphere does not work in portrait mode (but is fine in landscape)
Improvements:
- Camera's flash finally flashes at the same time the picture is taken. ^^
Questions:
- Is it true that camera and gallery are working out of the box without the need to root and push .so files to /system/lib?
- Can anyone bring the gallery's photo editor to life?
I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE (i9305) with rooted stock Android 4.1 and Nexus 4 camera / gallery working before.

The only problem I found with the camera. I took a picture last night in the dark. The picture took and the flash worked but the picture was pretty much like taking a pic with a phone backlight

Camera still requires libs. You can download it here and copy it to /system/lib (chmod 644). Gallery editor still not working. If anyone knows how to make it work, do update. Thanks.
i9300, SlimBean 4.2.2: Taking Photos, Photosphere (Portrait and Landscape) works (including libs from x86phre3x)
Viewing Photosphere is only possible as photo, the photosphere button shows no reaction
I hope you find a fix for Camera's photo sphere in portrait mode soon

installable apk needed
Hi,
If possible can u make this flashable zip as installable apk?
moreover does this install as additional camera or replace the stock.
can I try this in stock 4.3 version?
I have flashed the zip on my 4.3 stock and all works fine but panorama doesnt work.
When i switch to panorma the screen stays black, but it make the panorma picture and save it. The picture self is ok.
Is there a apk with working panorama that i see it on the screen?
