New Rom No GPS Navigation - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All
Just flashed Pacman Rom onto my DHD, got it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933804
Lovin the rom but the Google Navigation is no longer working.
It's just says "Searching for GPS" and never finds it.
I installed NavFree and it seems to work ok....
I do prefer the Google Nav app though
Anyone have any idea why this is??
Cheers

I don't use pacman, maybe try posting in the pacman thread/searching. Did you flash a version of gapps that included google nav. Maybe you flashed the wrong gapps?
What gapps are you using?

Use GPS Status and in the menu>tools>manage A-GPS , do a reset. Then check that GPS are fixed. If that is not working, then try using the fixes in this thread:

Thanks you guys!!!!

Bump. Anyone.
Really bugging me that I have no sat nav
Sent from my Novo10 Hero using xda app-developers app

Not sure it will help but try turning the google location services on as well as GPS satellites.

I am having the same problem. I tried flashing a few radio versions. I get same 'searching for gps' problem.
I think the stock radio would fix it. any idea where I can get that?
thank you in advance.

Hey heywheelie
Yeah all that is activated so I really can't see why it won't work.
As for the stock radio fixing the problem.... I think might.
Never flashed radios, and only roms, so really don't know a lot about em.
Maybe someone on here would point is in the right direction
Sent from my Novo10 Hero using xda app-developers app

i've got the same problem... for some users gps work, for others not. i will try to flash another radio

it was working for me till I flashed a new radio. then it broke.
now I need an older radio to get it to work.
if someone gets this to work, please share the radio that fixed it for you.

I've never flashed a radio.
How risky is it?
What radios should I be looking at to fix this

I'm on a Samsung Vibrant and just started having this problem, too (found your post by google searching for a solution).
If I find a solution, I'll post. Maybe what fixes one of us can fix the other.
Have you tried deleting the.cache and data? Sometimes that fixes issues.

This issue comes up in some roms. Viper rom 4.03 had this issue but they fixed it in the new release they made today. You might try sending them a pm and see how they fixed it. But first try the developer for your current rom.

about to contact viper guys also..
I fixed mine by uninstalling Google Maps and installing Maps 4.5. Looks like, at least for myself and some other Vibrant users, the latest Maps update caused this issue.
Bionix-v1.2
Dragon kernel v4 Test4

Last version of google maps issue

Last version of google maps keep loosing gps lock, after 2-3 minutes gps connection dropping.. When trying another navigation system, everything is fine.. Anyone has a same? Thanks

Yep same here, thought I was going mad.tried another app and no fix issues, so must be google. Was considering a reinstall off the app but haven't got round too it yet.
What Rom are you using? Google navigation doesn't work on AOSP roms. It's something to do with how information is sent from the GPS to the software. HTC fixed this somehow with sense. But as yet Cyanogen and derivatives haven't. It's what's keeping me using sense based roms for now. :s

The only info ive been able to find has come from this page HERE
Its not just MIUI thats affected, its all AOSP roms. As i said earlier HTC have fixed it with sense, but they arent sharing
Try a sense rom and you'll see what i mean
I cant for the life of me work out which files i need to pull from sense for the fix.
There's a fix mentioned over in the Inspire forums HERE but i couldnt get it to work. It has something to do with "gps.spade.so" at least thats the file thats been mentioned mostly.
Too bad, love my miui rom.. Thanks a lot for respond

I'm on black ice, never seen this before and used to use CM 7.1 and MIUI on my old desire without flaw. perhaps installing an older version of google maps maybe a work around?
I'll try to find older version of google maps.. Thanks..

Found the answer on the CM forums (sorry can't find the link) the problem seems to be related to the AGPS data on the phone. Download GPS test from the market and in settings clear AGPS. Start google nav and everything should be ok...
This worked for me, hopefully the same will apply for you

GPS fix!

Just to give a shout to EPEK.WARE and their awesome GPS Doctor app on the market. I have not been able to get a GPS fix on any of the new ICS roms and found this program tonight. Some of the reviews stated that it did or did not work for them but for $1.99 thought i'd give it a go.
To my surprise I went from 1 or 2 sat's in view but not in use to 8+ and all being used! Just thought I'd throw this out there for anyone tired of not getting a GPS lock.

A bit late in the reply, but yeah I flashed the FC22 modem (on Blu Kuban Rom btw), updated my PRL and I'm still getting the dreaded "Waiting for location" message when trying to use the Google Maps Navigation app. I'll try the other modems & see if that works.
If anyone cares to try it, this has been around for a while I just made it flashable.
It should work with ICS and GB.
Here is the original thread if anyone wants to reference it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1381666
Let us know if it works for you. Thanks - TD
Edit: This does not replace anything BTW. It adds a file to one of the system folders. If you want to know exactly what & where, read through the thread I posted above.
That did it. I don't use GPS much (if ever), but it always bugged me that I couldn't get it to work. Thanks.

Very cool guys. Glad it works for you! That's why were here after all.
Bump!
See post #9 for the fix. I know this worked wonders for GB and ICS.
Hope it also works for you folks having issues with JB.
365 downloads and only 3 thanks. Bummer.
Hey TD can I just push this into my /system/lib/hw and set permissions?
On Kobridge's DeOdexed FL16
I have a gps.exynos4.so there already don't know if they conflict or not.
And since my last JB upgrade (from FL04 to FL16) my GPS has gone to sh^t. And I've tried just about everything already. Could be hardware but hoping just the same.

For JB flash the one I attached.
Hey LB. This just adds a new file and doesn't replace anything. Jellybean is real weird about setting permissions sometimes on flashed files so this zip sets the permissions for you (only difference is permissions are set with this one).
Oh, and let us know how it goes.
Edit: BTW, I'm not having issues but I flashed it anyway and had GPS lock before I even stepped outside the front door.
I'll do it now.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Here's hoping...
Well still didn't get any GPS app to lock. Google maps works but that always had, though poorly and loses connections if navigating.
On the plus side (at least for now anyways) any GPS app I open (FasterGPS, GPS Status & Toolbox etc.) will actually close and stop searching.
Previously if I installed these and tried to get a location - even just on google maps they would launch in the backround (whether I opened maps or Facebook) and I'd get the 'trying to aquire gps location' thingy running even after closing the app(s).
And the only way to stop that is either go to App Info and force close the System UI or reboot. Turning off GPS and/or all location services does nothing once the search had started.
I guess it's getting down to hardware. Kind of really p.o.'d Got rid of my last phone becuase the GPS stopped working. I guess I'm one of the few who use the snot out of it. I moved to a new area a few years ago and don't know where jack is. And nothing is logically laid out here either.
Thanks again. I'll have to start considering other options. :/
help please
running JB 4.1.2 GB08 google nav is unable to lock on to gps unless I reboot my phone then it will work normal until I use nav again at which point says searching for GPS , any idea on how to fix this
Try updating to GB27 modem, updating PRL and profile. I had issues with GB08 too. Also, try Comadose tweaks Goddly put together. It's in the dev forum. It has a jb gps lock tweak. Good luck!

No connection for Google apps

Using LiquidSmooth ROM for about a week, suddenly my Play store doesn't work
It says "No connection" no matter what [I'm using Wi-Fi and can use web browsing and WhatsApp so its definitely not a connection problem]
Edit:
Its not just Google play, it's all Google's apps [Except for google maps, which was downloaded manually], and my Wifi signal is gray
I looked it up and the only fixes I came up for this issue is having the device set to the wrong date, but its not the issue here, it just has the same symptoms
Can anyone help? :|
Go into apps and try clearing data etc. Might work. Normally does lol

[Q] MOONRAKER v3.0 - question ?

Hi guys,
I am using this rom 'MOONRAKER v3.0' from several weeks and I can say that is one of the fastest roms I have ever used.
However I have noticed one little bug which is a bit annoying and I cannot find the reason which causing it.
Sometimes when I enter in some app like Titanium backup all letters in this app becomes unreadable with some special characters on the places where letters should be. In order to fix the problem I have to logout from the particular app and to kill the task. Then everything works correctly again.
I have tested a couple of launchers (Apex, Nova, Nemus Launcher) and themes. Also I have tried to deinstall all additional launchers which comes preinstalled with the rom and to use only the default one, but this issue still appears from time to time. I will be very happy, if somebody could give me a hint about it. Thank you very much!

Hi,
You may try to upgrade the radio of your DHD to the latest one (July 2012: Radio 12.69.60.29_26.17.14.11_M) which you can find here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295
I have already upgraded it on my phone and GPS is working perfectly now.
