So I have a 64gb sandisc u1 card, in partition magic it shows the usable space as a partition in between a small set of unpartitioned space and a large set.
All space = 2tb

sounds like you might have picked up a fake card chinese formatted.. i'd backup anything you have on it, delete all partitions and redo it. see what it comes up with then..
No, its from best buy. I dont buy transflash off ebay. Its 59gb in compasity currently. I didnt do any mods. Im asking about possable mods, or as I have infered, that theirs nothing. It shows 59gb in windows. Only partition magic shows 2tb full withh all the rest of the area being unpartitioned and unformated space

What are you using to see this 2TB? A PC? Format the card in your phone. As to hacks/mods that would cause these mods.

His post above yours says what he's using. Partition magic. Either way, I'm guessing the issue is the software if Windows shows the true value. If you want a safe piece of mind, back up the data, and exchange it best buy. If the new one reads the same issue, then it's the software. Cause no way 2TB would fit a microsd.
Sent from my SGH-T889
I dont belive its the software because other trans flash didnt have this issue.
Yes pc
I dont need help formatic the card its working just fine at stock settings currently.
Sent from my SGH-T889
Have you tried using the software to read other 64GB cards? Either way, if everything is working fine, and you download other software and everything but Partition magic reads it at 64GB, then just keep it.
Thats not realy what I was asking tho

It's not a 2TB card. As people have answered you, either the hardware is borked, or the software is confused with that card (make, model, when it was made, etc). Just because other cards have worked fine doesn't mean the software isn't confused. Just because you bought it from BestBuy doesn't mean the card is good.
People asked about eBay because many of us have been burned buying a card that is formatted wrong so it looks like it has a higher capacity than it really has. Either the software you are using (that exact edition, set up, installation) is giving you possible options to make computers think it is higher capacity (which will not do you any good), or that card could be flawed which is confusing the software into being unsure of it's total capacity.
The only exploit you could do is try using the 2TB formatting and showing people your super cool 2TB card (which would destroy files that were placed in non existent sectors). I don't recommend doing that, as it wastes the card.
I haven't really said anything that anyone else hasn't been talking about, but these seem to answer anything you may have been asking (since technically you never formed a full question). So I think your question was answered, you may have just not asked what you meant to.
Correct, but I do not belive the card is flawed. I agree with the rest though. And if my question dosent seem fully developed I appologise

Hey everybody its Cardi Lyone here with a pondering question for all you super developers. i recently bought an SD card off of ebay that was a 32gb for my htc evo. granted it came from china so i got it for round 10 bucks but thats not the problem. the card DOES WORK AND read at 32gbs when entered in the phone and threw my laptop; but when i try to copy everything on my stock card to that card everything usually everything reads apps ect, but my music and pictures. i have no idea whats going on thought it was kinda weird. looking for a little feedback before i go out and spend good knows how much for another 32 gb card. thanks for reading and helping.
Hmmm....I don't have any idea, but did you try reformatting it as FAT32? Sorry, that's all I could think of.
The sd card is a fraud. Its not really 32 gigs.

sd cards can be hacked so they say they hold so much data but what it does is just keep writing over the same blocks. There are programs to test the actual size try... h2testw... google it, its a free program it takes awhile since it tries to read and write the the full amount of the card to see its real capacity. my guess is that you have a 512mb card hacked to say 32gb... sorry man
i was figuring so, guess i didnt want to think it was true. but thanks for all your help on the matter. if anyone has a 16 or higher laying around leave me message maybe we could work something out!

Nope no SD card on it
Pretty sure those specs are specifically for the international version. The VZW version doesn't have expandable memory.

You can do that on phones without SD slots...it is called USB mass storage, which coincidentally is disabled by ice cream sandwich.
In my experience, especially dealing with verizon, I'd better have an SD slot, because the phone WILL fail and require a replacement and the last thing I need is a bricked phone that I can't recover my files from.
So, I was holding our for the Nexus but now I need to figure out my next device real soon...

Why are you blaming Verizon, or hardware issues for something that could happen that would be entirely your fault? (not backing up your own info)
So, the Galaxy Nexus doesn't have an SD slot. Is it Google?
What I mean is, my understanding of the Nexus S was that it was essentially Google's specs and design and Samsung made it, but they wanted to have their own phone with all their crapware on the market, so the basically made the exact same hardware in a different case and filled it full of Touchwiz. But the Galaxy S had an SD slot!
So is the no SD slot something Google have decided for security/aesthetic reasons, or is just a technical thing and they decided the phone could live without?
I never fire up my laptop anymore so backing up my files would be a problem.
If I wanted to be hooked to a laptop to backup I'd get an iPhone.

I hardly ever remove sd card from the phone and to be honest unless you store loads of music/videos 16GB of build in memory is way more than I need...
I got GN on VZW, unfortunately no SD card, which would typically annoy me, but with Google Music/Spotify, Calandar, Gmail, Contacts, G+/Picasa Web, and Dropbox (which can be used to transfer files too) there really is no need to worry about having to back up/transfer or need more storage anymore.
No slot=no sale.... Why would they make that decision. Unless the phone had 32gb internal.
No expandable memory? WTF, thought only Apple did that.
nope, no memory slot. That's why Galaxy 2 is a better phone. Just my .02
cloud services and managing your drive space should help keep it from filling too fast, it is terrible that they didn't include the sdcard slot option
Nope it doesnt. It has a virtual SD card. To store Apps + Data. But thts bout it
This has been the second time getting this error on SG3.
The first time I checked if the card was corrupted by putting the sdcard in the netbook, it was recognized and displayed all the folders. Inserted the card again in the SG3 and it wasn't recognized, rebooted into recovery and fixed permisions and cleared cache/dalvik and rebooted. The card was back up and everything was ok.
Again happened today, tried the same thing and nada Now it also says "Sdcard blank or unregonized file system" in notification and it then prompts for format confirmation upon tapping it.
I've googled and oogled and keep finding different solutions, some I cannot try now since I'm at work. One of them suggest to move all files to PC and format the card, I'll give that a shot at home and see. Another was to update the firmware, but on the latest L13... Apparently, this has been ongoing for sometime and there is an open issue in google for this.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=19722
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9736 - Originally opened for LG Ally, but HTC and Samsung users have also reported it on the same issue.
Anyone else encountered this problem in SG3?
Happens to me all the time. Sometimes it will just continue to prepare then unexpectedly removed pops up, then that will cycle and kill my battery. I just got a new SD card hoping that would fix it but it did not.

I'm researching like a mad man! Found a few tools but most are for HDD and not microsd... found the one below that is supposed to detect the card/drive even if it's not mounted or has a drive letter and revover the file system, repair partitions, recover ALL file types, etc but nada
Had a few important fotos, my most recent nanroid, my TB folder, that last one hurt the most.
I didn't back up after the first "fix" cause I thought it was a one time things, never heard of this error before. Lesson learned

Yes and no...It was stated by some members that there was a write-up saying that you shouldn't format your card because this would deduct part of it's useful life.
I never formated my card, it was inserted as soon as I bought the phone and been using it since and never formated it.
I'm going tonight to Wal-Mart and getting a card reader and seeing if that helps in fixing this. In an earlier post I attached a link to an old thread that gives a solution that seems to have helped others.
FYI, just got back from the store and it is definitely failure of the SD card reader. They tested it and my new phone comes tomorrow.

Sprint store? How did they determine it?
I used another sdcard that I had, 8GB, and the phone read it ok...
Edit - then does this mean that there might be a factory reset on the card reader in the SG3? :/
all they told me was that they inserted another card and it happened. Mine also fried two cards so far, so it is definitely pretty bad and i was confident it would fail any test they gave it.

Hey guys
Been reading this thread, having the same issue.
Actually the only reason I post because I'm troubled of the error other then having an actual problem, this error been spawning up for me for quite a while, though it does seem to work perfectly fine.
You think the SD card could just Die one day ?
I hope you guys could determine if there's a factory defect in the SG3 or the Card, I got the international GT-i9300, I hope i won't have to return it, since the shop it was bought from is located at Poland and I live in israel (let's say that handling via warranty is not an option).
Need to check perhaps with samsung if they know of any factory defects regarding microSD card readers, My SDcard brand is Sandisk 32GB ultra class 6.
I fixed mine by completely removing the battery and putting in sd card then boot up. Sounds dumb but it worked.

I have a Bell Note 2 and I recently bought the 64GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card. Since using it, I noticed that (when installed) the Device Status of the phone changes to Modified and I can't check/download Android updates from Samsung. Also, the Samsung Video Hub app won't let me use external storage to save movies (which I could do using my old 32GB PNY card). The card seems to read/write okay though.
I contacted Samsung by email, the reply was laughable (solution was for a different issue on a different phone). I also contacted SanDisk and they suggested reformatting to FAT32 using a utility from www.sdcard.org. I haven't tried this yet but I know that FAT32 will reduce file sizes to 4GB. I don't know if it will have an effect on the read/write speeds of the card.
Just wondering if anyone else using this card was experiencing the same issues. If you haven't checked, maybe you might want to.
I miss the build quality, sleekness, and how quick the battery would charge/how slow it would drain.

Well, I tried to do what the SanDisk guy told me but the formatting utility that he mentioned doesn't have the option to change file formats. Started out as exFat, still exFat. Some of you have mentioned using other formatting/partitioning utilities - the folks at www.sdcard.org say the following:
"The SD Formatter was created specifically for memory cards using the SD/SDHC/SDXC standards. It is strongly recommended to use the SD Formatter instead of formatting utilities provided with operating systems that format various types of storage media. Using generic formatting utilities may result in less than optimal performance for your memory cards.
The SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards have a "Protected Area" on the card for the SD standard's security function. The SD Formatter does not format the "Protected Area". Please use appropriate application software or SD-compatible device that provides SD security function to format the "Protected Area" in the memory card."
So there you go.
I am using the card with the t-Mobile version and it working fine.

Works without any problems in mine.
The weird thing is that it starts out okay and only shows up after I've reloaded all my apps. Even then, I can still read and write to the card. I just can't get updates because it says that my phone is modified. I can't see how an app would cause it. There are no side-loaded apps. And it doesn't happen with my 32GB card.
Just a quick update for anyone who might be wondering....
After making this thread, I went to my local BestBuy and bought another SanDisk microSDXC that was exactly the same as the one I had. I put the same files on the card and the phone did exactly the same thing. I did discover however that the problem shows up when I reboot the phone with the card installed but doesn't show up (at least not right away) when I unmount/hotswap/remount the card with the phone left on.
Then I took the card to the BellAliant store where I bought the phone and had them try the card in a brand new phone. Same problem on the new phone.
Nothing funky on the card, just my songs (transferred using DoubleTwist AirSync) and my photos (transferred via PC). This card hasn't been reformatted and my phone hasn't been rooted.
So I don't know what's going on, if its only a problem with Galaxy Note 2's that are being sold in this area. I can't believe that no one else is having this issue.
Anyway, I put in a support ticket with Samsung (again), not expecting anything new. The Samsung tech that I spoke with did say that only TWO (I think) 64GB microSDXC cards were tested and approved for the Note 2 and that the SanDisk was one of them. Also, the girl at the BellAliant store said that they were told that the phone only worked with a TOTAL of 64GB (internal + external) but I KNOW she was wrong about that. Just some of the things you hear when trying to troubleshoot something that no one seems to have an answer for....
iMHO you really should format it fat32 and retest.
-- other suggestions for tools --
Might search for mini partition tool or gparted live cd. I've used the gparted live cd to partition my 64gb sandisk previously for dual booting my og atrix.
-- I'm sure there are better suggestions on tools, but I strongly suggest converting it to fat32 before further testing / actions.
The Note II ONLY supports FAT32
When I got my new 64GB SanDisk card I powered off the phone. Pulled the back cover and replaced my 32Gb with the new 64GB micro SD card right out of the packaging and then replaced the cover and powered it up. Phone recognized it and accepted file transfers to it without issue. No problems to date and I have been using it for 3 weeks without issue.

See, that's the strange thing. The card DOES "work" - it formats fine and I can transfer files to and from it. The ONLY problem is that, when I put my files on it, the status of my phone changes to "modified". Then, when I go to updates, it won't even try to connect to the servers, just tells me that my phone is modified and that updates are not available. As I mentioned above, I've duplicated the problem with two identical cards and in two different phones (one of which was in-store, brand new).
I realize that I can just take the card out of the phone when I know an Android update is available to download, I just don't always know when updates are available. In either case, doesn't seem like it should act that way. And I didn't want to force-format the card to FAT32 with a 3rd party format utility because that would destroy the "protected partition" on the card and void the warranty (those 64GB cards are expensive).
I understand that I might just have to live with this, it's just odd that no one else is experiencing it. Think I'm going to let this thread die. Folks on XDA tend to not like re-reading the same thing over and over. Thanks to all who replied.

Why do you think formating an sd card with fat32 would void the warranty? Never heard such thing before. You can format any file system you want.
So Im going on vacation here in a few days and was downloading my Amazon prime music to my 64 GB SD card and then randomly after I was done downloading it it gave me a error that said the SD card was blank or had file types that were unsupported. Now when you go to the storage location under settings it would act like the card was not even mounted and would tell me to reformat it.. So I've done that twice and re-downloaded and still the same issue. Now this happened on my Note 3 with a compactly different SD card.
The SD card in my note 4 is brand new is there something Im missing? Its getting super annoying. Because when I have apps to the sd card and pics you cant seem to retrieve them. Is it possible that after I use 32GB of space on that card that anything after that corrupts? Pretty sure that sounded stupid!
I had a issue on my camcorder that i put a 64 gb card in my camcorder when it stated that it supported up to 32gb and anything after that corrupted,
Any suggestions>?

Sounds like you're using a counterfeit SD card. They're usually a smaller card (8GB or something) hacked to make it appear to be a larger capacity (say 64GB). When you put the card into a device, it reads as the larger capacity. When writing to it, it can only write up to the actual size, then loops back to the first sector on the card and continues writing.
So basically, in your case, the card may actually be 16GB or something. When writing to it, the card will fill up the 16GB, loop to the first sector, and write over what was just written. It'll do this 4x! (4x16=64). So this will corrupt your card and give you these problems.

I prefer Sandisk, Samsung, Sony, or Kingston. Buy at a brick and mortar store though. Don't buy online. Well, you can buy online, but do it from brick and mortar store websites (like Best Buy). It's the only way I've found to guarantee not getting a fake. Fakes are especially on Aliexpress, Amazon, and Ebay. Avoid those places for sure.

Just out of curiosity, where did you buy your current SD card, what brand is it, and how much was it?

Yeah, high possibility it's fake. If I had pics of it, I could probably tell, but I'm not going to ask you to go through all that trouble.
Instead, read this:

Also try this if you want. It's an app that tries to detect the authenticity of your micro sd.

Best Buy only sells genuine cards, and sellers on their marketplace should be authentic too. You should be safe, but I would've gone with whatever was on sale there. No matter what, it should be real.

Sorry, but I don't know anything about unlocking. I only know about sd cards because of personal experience. I've bought many cards over the years and many were fakes or crapped out on me in under a year due to poor quality. I've learned where to buy and where not to, trustworthy and untrustworthy brands, etc.
