EDIT: Okay I see its 0...
Im doing Odin back to stock maybe that would help?
Edit: I just realized that when I tried getting my IMEI back I deleted the efs folder but I did make backup of it so now im in Factory Mode and even if I Odin back to stock it didn't do a thing, everything I had is still there.
Edit 2nd time: Out of factory mode but I cant figure out how to restore IMEI, any help?

Is your IMEI still at 0, or did you get it back to what it should be?
Edit:
If your IMEI is at 0, you need to follow the IMEI injection section of the first post of the thread I linked. If you have recovered your IMEI and still have data connection issues, you need to see Post 3 of the same thread.
Thanks for the help I got it working

Im guessing you are still rootedmaybe try factory reset.
Or Reflash your rom and see if that fixes.
Use twrp recovery. Noone has lost imei using it that im aware of. Everyone who did was using cwm.

Are you still stuck on edge? Maybe its bad timing and its actually an issue with tmobiles tower. And have you tried in a different area of town so your connected to a different tower?
This happened to me once and it was killing me for over a day before I called tmobile and they said the tower close to me had storm damage!
Have you tried all three available radios? Try flashing starting with the latest UVALH2 and working your way back to UVALG1 and UVALEM.
If its not on their end you may want to reinstall using odin or grab the update via kies if you haven't already. It'll rewrite the system which could fix it.

Only thing I've really seen regarding the imei in the past few weeks are threads asking if its still a problem!
Imo, at this point its just not really worth worrying about.
It probably will happen again and probably will never really be solved, but we have the ability to backup and restore now and both cwm and twrp have since been updated.
Its just not as big an issue anymore as people seem to think.
Just how I see it anyway.

use that. i think this is the standard for backing up your IMEI. i just rooted today after holding off because of this issue. i havn't flashed anything yet but i have gone through most of the major ROM forums and nothing pertaining to the search term "IMEI" has popped up in the past few days besides just asking about it. I am still a tiny bit apprehensive on flashing just because of the potential issues and the fact that this phone works pretty well on its own. things were so much easier in the MT4G days ha.
There's also a thread by peoplearmy that should be linked in geeks thread as well.
If you're to nervous about what could happen, you should probably just skip rooting altogether. Not trying to be rude, but all things dealing with root come with risk. The number of imei losses is really quite low when you think about how many people have rooted dozens of times with no issues.
Id bet there have been more bricked S3's due to flashing international roms than there have been imei problems.
Just thought id try to add a little perspective!
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Hey would you mind linking the people army thread? I feel like rooting usually comes with risk but that risk is generally user error and a inability to read instructions or use common sense. This imei issue however is scary because no matter how careful you are it could get lost. I have even read about people after losing their imei and restoring it still not getting 4g

I've seen a ton of guides including the k tool which won't work on our T-Mobile version? My backup was done automatically when I flashed something else so now I have an efs backup file I can't figure out what to do with. yeah there is, but you have to have a backup of your original IMEI... which i assume you do not have. there is a thread about this issue in the dev section, and toolkit to back up your IMEI
just out of pure curiosity, what recovery are you using?
Nope, I do not have a backup.
Just search in the development section for imei recovery and there is one to get it back even without a backup. Might be issues with you not actually getting 4g again but this way you can return it back to complete stock.

That's not true. Very experienced android flashers have lost theirs, it's a fluke within the recovery and flashing a rom or modem anything being flashed has been reported to make it being lost. Only thing is I think TRWP hasn't been reported to cause it being lost. Anywho... back it up.
