Whats the difference between disabling an app in ICS versus freezing an app in titanium backup?
there is none, except that when u freeze an app from titanium its invisible to the os, as of course ics will still know its there if u freeze with that.
I suggest u use titanium, because u can always use that batch command to delete them all later if u find u don't need them
As long as they are doing anything disabled I am good with that.

I want to start flashing some new roms but I want to make sure my apps are backed up... I dont feel like re-downloading all of them again... I have background data, auto-sync checked and I just synced my gmail... Should I not worry?

Titanium Backup from the market... get the paid version... Its totally worth it

So that is the only to get all my downloaded apps back? I thought they would sync with my account automatically?
the only apps Google backs up are the ones u buy. So if u get titanium backup it does all the backups on a schedule and it backs up data, apps and all that even the free apps
Ohhh okay, so if I dont want to re-download all my apps that I have now(free) then my only option is have titanium backup donate version?

Yes or the free version. The difference between paid and free is that the free one you have to restore the apps one at a time.

It says my maximum backup is one... So im guessing I can only backup 1 app at most with the free version?
Or I can only have 1 backup per app at most? THen if I want to do another backup, it will delete the older one?

Thanks for your help... It went smooth and I was able to get back all my apps by backing up/restoring... Only thing that sucked was that I had to do 1 by 1 for each app haha... But atleast it went smooth...
Is there a site or something I can look at a comparison chart of the two? I tried the main site but came up empty...
is there an app to stop apps and games loading in background
No it's the way android works, kill one background app. And android will just let another one start up.

Do not use task killers. They probably do more harm than good.
With the "Autostarts" app, you can actually prevent the app service from loading in the first place. Is that what you mean?
You can try titanium backups freeze mode where you can stop certain apps from loading without uninstalling them. There is a safe list on these forums, have a look for them.
This is all pointless though, As i said before freeze or stop one process, and android will just let another one start up. The only way around it is like only having 5 apps installed . Anyway lots of free ram is a bad thing on android, it means your system is not optimised. Remember android uses ram diffrent to windows. You should have 40-60mb of free memory. That means android is running it's own workload well
If you don't have the paid version of titanium backup you can also try bloatfreezer. You can get it from the android market and it's free

I use app quarantine, it'll stop apps from opening/running you don't want to run without changing the system... You need root, tho

Hey, I have looked at the ''junk app thread'' but I did not see any google apps on there. Does that mean they are not safe to remove? I do not use any of the google app's and they are clogging up my app tray, can I remove them without them having an affect on the market or youtube? Thanks in advance
Safest answer? DON'T! Most google apps and processes are inter linked, so messing with one app can cause force closes on another. worse still you may no be able to make calls or send texts.

It came up after a lot of clicking. Made my own list and removed apps. Making a list to automate the process with titanium.
Wasn't sure how to delete my post.

Hi Guys
i wanted to ask you , now that i want to remove the unneeded samsung bloatware , is all i need to do is to root the device, and then just go app by app and remove it? does the rooting remove the protection on removing these apps?
thanks for your help

Titanium is what I would recommend as well (after root). You can try freezing the unwanted apps first, to make sure it doesn't adversely affect anything else. Then when you are convinced the apps are okay to remove, uninstall using Titanium.
