Hey guys. Sold my s2 now with the s3. So confused on whats a good stable rom. Ive searched through and cant believe how many roms there is. You guys rock. All im looking for is something smooth. When I play some games I noticed my phone lagging. Im unrooted right now. On the latest update from ota. Sorry if im coming off as a noob, but there is so many. Im out of the loop

Tbh all the roms available for the Gs3 are stable to do just about everything you want. But, some roms gave minor tweaks that would make choosing between them a little difficult.
You should try Freeza's rom, it has the stock feel with some theming along the way. The rom performs very well for first time gs3 rom users.
Honestly I've flashed a good number of all the ROMs and it will all depend on what your likings are. I can suggest a ROM but not say these handful are better than the rest. If you understand me.
I would say try out Goodness JB edition, Stongsteves odexed ROM, wicked, and feezas.

Best thing to do, Cruise the dev section, check out a few threads.. See what they look like, bug log, check last few pages to see if anything odd has came up.. Then flash and try.. Best thing is.. if you don't like it.. you can wipe/flash again as much as you like. The People's Rom + morphology is where i would go! (FreeGS3 is also a good one) check them out.
Also, the GS3 (LTE) has the Adreno 225, it's not going to handle high-end games as well as some of the more powerful devices. Even with another ROM.

All ROMs are stable and all are the best. No one can tell you what is best for you and your phone except you. There is no substitute for reading about the ROMs you will use to alter your $700 device.
Thanks for understanding

I'm looking to upgrade my dads phone. He has a custom GB ROM I already put on there months ago but since sprint finally rolling out ICS I was wondering what was best...cm9? F18 leak? He just wants ROM that is stable and has hacked hotspot.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Well if he want a stable rom with Hotspot hack i recommend getting Phantom Blazer 4.1 Rom. But if he wants ICS roms CM9 will do.
I'm running M'ICS v 1.1. stable, good battery life and has sprint hotspot.
Let's be honest here, there are probably a dozen of these threads out here and I am quite sure a few quite recently. You could get a million different answers since it all really depends on the user themselves. There is so much that goes into deciding whats best for you I never get asking others. I mean opinions are great but personal experience is the best.
If you are just going to do if for every day use then flash the stock FF18, throw a recovery on it and flash the hotspot hack in themes and apps voila! you're done!
Sorry was not trying to flame I understand what you are asking just don't think a dozen people giving you different answers helps you. All the roms in development are great but all come with a little kwirk here or there.
I'm looking for a ROM with stock GS3 look, theres any? because all I have seen are themed ?

How about this one?
Touched by a SGSIII
I'm about 5 min away from installing it over my STOCK/ROOTED/Agat 1.1/ICS FE18
I'm looking for an ICS with great battery life and is very stable...any suggestions? I've been using StrongSteve's rock solid GB ROM, but I think it's time for me to finally make the leap to ICS.
Thanks.

Stability is one aspect, battery life is another. Best suggestion is to read through the threads of the roms that interest you and what style you like and test the battery life on it.
I personally like Wicked 1.5 and have 3 1/2 to 4 hrs on screen time. But that may not be the case for you. Based on what you run, how you run...
Browse away and give 'em a try but take head to flashing responsibly and read, read, read so you don't brick your phone.

Thanks. Yeah, I've been reading about bricking potential...it's one of the reasons I haven't updated yet.
I've tried to read through some threads of ROMs that people have said they liked, but with hundreds of pages in each (saying back to the ROM's release), it's difficult to take it all in...that's why I asked here (and tried not to start another new thread about it ;-))

I completely get it. It is alot to absorb.
There are 2 posts that I know of which are polling people about the roms in use but its all a matter of taste.
Besides the fact that some may be partial to a particular team, dev, etc.
Its just a hard question to answer.
Best solution is to try if you're willing. But there are safe kernals now and great people to give you advise if you get stuck.

Thanks...but I'm not an ICS virgin by any means...my ASUS TF tablet has been running it for a while now. Just thought it was time to take the leap for my phone finally.
First off I hate my s2 now, it feels like I have no reliability, it really stinks to be honest. I know the capabilities of this phone and it seems like ever since I upgraded to the ICS from the kies update (before root) the wifi stinks and has no where NEAR the strength of the previous gingerbread rom, (stock as well on gingy) so I decided maybe a root and a custom rom would help? no. This is only making things worse. I need this phone as I rely on it for all sorts of buisness. I need a solution for day-to-day use with no glitches. And this may be on t-mobiles end, but sometimes I don't recieve calls and for sure don't recieve even half of my texts people send. If I have to go back to stock gingy, so be it, I love ICS but if it means all of these glitchy processes are included, I hate it. Right now I rooted using galaxys2root.com's method and then right now I am on darkside rom v7. Is there a better root/unroot or factory reset? I just need a more stable process and I am COMPLETELY willing to start all over. Any help would be mightly appreciated. Thanks!:fingers-crossed::cyclops:
I'm not 100% sure about rooting from ics but once u have that figured out......the most stable rom I have had on this phone might have been beastmod5.0. You can find that on rootzwiki.com. it is however a gingerbread rom and u will not have ics features....but if u want the closest to stable I think I would go there....maybe somebody who has tried other Roms can further recommend some.

Yes yes yes yes! I BEASTMOD ROM IS THE ROM TO HAVE. sorry about the capitals lol but honestly beastMOD rom is the sickest rom I've ever had on my s2. It's the way I met Melvin, lol. Any who you should run it.. If you can't find the zip for the rom I'd be more then happy to upload it up once I get home lol

I also recommend the cm9 nighlties. It's what I have right now and it's really stable. It can practically be called a stable build in my book. Try those, or you can upgrade darkside to v8. It was released yesterday I believe.

I love darkside... I ran it for a long time. In just like how you can have different themes in cm9 lol

I'm loving infamous right now. Its similar to dark side with a few extras check out the threads in the development section there's tons of roms just try them all and see what you like

Root box rom or Resurrection Remix
Both awesome.

Its so debatable to find one perfect Rom, too many choices and too many pros and cons in all of them. Best i can say is try them ALL until you find something that you can use without issues. Or even if it had bugs, they could be the ones you could live with. None are perfect by far, their extremely close to perfect but none are. Don't forget what your doing here. I might open a site called Flashers Anonymous. It how ii roll!!! If i find something i really cant deal with in a Rom I just try another one. Since June I have tried 5 Roms and absolutely have stopped in Infamous for a while. Dev support is fast ad reliable. And to be something made for free by the guys that create them I won't complain nay one bit until my phone melts in my hands..
With that said, best of luck and happy flashings.... until the next time im oof:.....
Tuesday Blu Ray Rom is probably the most stable ROM or any gingerbread rom.... I personally dont have any major issues with the aokp biulds im content with the 7/15 build
Hey there I just got my girlfriend a galaxy S3 and would like to know what is the most stable ROM for daily driving? I'm using CleanROM for the note 2 and it's amazing. Was wondering if there is something as simple as CLEANROM?

Ya that really a loaded question and can get you a lot of fanboy answers. You best bet would be to show her some of the diffrent roms there are and the features they have. Then let her test drive it and see what she likes best. Thats what it alwasy boils down too. Not so much the best ROM but the best ROM for you as the user.
look around in the Android Development section if she's more into the stock S3 look and feel. some great options in there like i747z and CSROM

Definitely a matter of personal choice. Whether you go with my Intergalactic ROM, enewman17's, upndwn4par, or even more that I have not mentioned, chances are that you will receive a good quality experience on this phone. We all work together to make it better as a matter of fact. Take a look at each thread, flash a ROM, make a nandroid backup of your settings if you like it, try another, come back if you preferred the last one. We are fortunate to have many talented devs here who dedicate themselves to making this phone the best it can be. Good luck and regards.
I can't say "most" since I haven't tried them all, but these have been my favorites - simple, very stable, great battery life, de-bloated, no BS, just work great:
ICS - KyanROM
JB - Ultimatum S3
i like cyanogen mod but I am currently on Liquid Smooth RC2 4.2.2 rom and so far so good
So I'm getting the t-mobile gsii soon. I currently have the epic 4G. I looked in ur dev section and seen a lot of ROMs but noticed that from the titles I didn't see any 4.2.2 ROMs, is there any? I'm expecting yes, since my epic 4g has a handful of them already.
Do you guys have slimbean? If not, any recommendations for the closest ROM to slim?
And your kernels support voodoo sound correct?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
EDIT: so I found some 4.2.2 roms and even slimbean.
I'm still a lil confused about the kernels tho.
There's different kernels for stock tw, jb 4.1.2 and 4.2.2? Do they have
And another thing is the radios, are they like modems?

Kernels come with the ROM. Most of the time it can stay where its at and you'll never know the difference. For a 4.2 ROM, i'm partial to AvatarROM. And we have 10.1 nightlys posted on the page as well. If you want stability, 4.1 is the best choice ATM. Jedi Mind Trick JB v4 is a great choice. (look at me... Plugging all these ROM's. lol) Its super stable and you can swap out kernels if you need to. It doesn't have a theme engine in it yet, but the avatar rom does have themeing though. Your chice. IDK about the Voodoo sound. That kinda died with GB. The new ROM's have Beats audio and the DSP manager. Does better than Voodoo. Radios are like modems, yes. They can be swapped out but need to be compatible with your kernel in order to function properly. UVMC6 comes with most ROM's but I like the radio from the Note2, UVLG3. Most ROM's can utilize a Kernel Tuner and an app called Trickster MOD from the playstore. You can set idle frequencies and make it so only one core runs until a load is placed on the phone. Real battery saver. And make sure your flashing the right Gapps packages for the ROM. 4.2 Gapps won't work with 4.1 even though they are both JB. Hope that helped. Any other questions, PM me.

Yup, thanks. That was almost everything I needed to know. I'm not a total nube so I understand how everything works, its just you guys have some things different than what I'm used to from the Epic 4G forum. I've rooted this device before so I shouldn't have a problem with that and I'm familiar with a few of your ROMs such as Avatar, but I'm going to have to try some new ones to see what I really like. Thanks for you reply tho, ill probably have more questions once I actually get the phone by the end of this month.

OK, I used to flash ROMs like it was my job about 1.5 years ago on my Galaxy Vibrant. When I got the SGS3, I decided that I was just going to root it and leave ONE ROM on it and leave it alone. I have been running AKOP Milestone-1 for the longest time.
Now it's time to flash something new and STABLE. I am looking for a ROM without any fuss and not a lot of bugs. AKOP Milestone-1 has bugs and I am finally tired of dealing them. Not have NFC has become annoying now that a lot of my friends have a NFC capable device.
As a community, what would you recommend for me to use as a ROM? What is the best kernel to use as well for this phone?
Thank you in advance....
This is a disguised best ROM thread. There are literally hundreds of threads just like this one. It's always an opinion. The only correct answer is: try them yourself, through your own trial and error, find the one that works for you.
If you don't want to update all the time, AOSP/AOKP is not for you. I will tell you that much.
The best, fully functional, most stable rooted ROM for any phone is a stock rooted unmodified ROM running the stock kernel. If you're looking for tweaks, add-ons, etc., you have to choose for yourself. Absolutely no user on here can advise you on that.

If you don't want to update often, then go with a touchwiz based rom. They work great, have nice mods, and are super stable.
I've used Wicked and Stockorama. Both great roms to me and have never let me down.
