Hello,
I compare my results with Antutu benchmark with other I found here and on the Internet.
My overall score is above 5300, but my concern is low read/write speed of my SD card:
(screen in attachement)
I have 32 GB SanDisk Ultra Class 10 with up to 30 MB/s read/write card. I know I wouldnt achieve such speed in practice, but I believe 5.6 MB/s write and 8 MB/s read is far too slow for that card and that phone.
I have second partiotion (for Link2SD) formatted with ext2 (2GB), the rest ("regular") partition is FAT32 (~30GB)
I am using Xperia Ultimate HD 2.0.3, stock kernel (locked BL)
Any suggestions?

sorry for that - it worked on my desktop. now file was moved to attachements
the read is slow, im gonna try antutu om my device, but cant install now. It says it dont have memory, but i have over half empty
edit:
What class is that sd-card?
It is class 10 card, 32GB, with up to 30 MB/s read/write (as declared by SanDisk
Yes, up to 30 MB/s. It means max that, but can be any speed lower from it
But Class 10 should be min 10 MB/s. Try formatting your SDcard, then check again.
It installed at least. Heres my results on stock sd card
If you got root try this:
Im not responsible for any harm that may happen, but this should be safe
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mehrmann.sdbooster
Install that app, ir similar
Set it to 1024, apply (best one for me, try your self. Dont go over 8000. 1024, 2048 and 3072 is safe)
Retest your sd card with antutu.
This is what i got on 1024

Great, thank you guys,
I think I will try booth suggestions - card re-format and SD card booster.
What is the option to back up partitions on SD cards?
I mean "second" partition that is not usually visible under windows, as it is second and ext2..
Or backup with TB, copy files to hdd, format and than copy back, and use backup to restore?
try to browse the second partition with WinRAR. It shows everything. If not use EASEUS Partition manager
Are there any published benchmarks for SD cards? I want to buy a 32GB card for use with Link2SD (i.e. apps running directly off the card) as well as for documents/media files, so I want it to be fast.

The best is cwm recovery. X-Part is fine also.
Do backup.
Then just copy fat32 partition on PC.
Now format sd card. (in usb sd card reader)
Repartition it again.
Put data back on fat32 partition. (return card into phone)
Now boot your phone into recovery.
Restore sd-ext.
That's it.
Please, note that sd cards must be formatted with sd card formatter from sd card association and NOT from operating system.
Then use gparted bootable disc to add ext2 partition.
Make sure MiB alignment is on.
Now, performance will be ok.
For sure add higher value in sd booster then default is.

I have the same setup (same sd card with link2sd but with different rom)
I find that the best performance is with 3072 for the cache
Thank you, vr5411, for such detailed stsp-by step procedure. Just to be sure I will do a backup (TB) of the ext2 partition aps.. Just "in case".
I dont fully understand this:

Do you mean card formatter (adapter) manufactured by the card manufacturer (SanDisk in my case). Or a software provided (I didnt get any)

well, I did re-format and tweaked with SD-tool and its a bit better now: my write speed is still low (about 6-7 MB/s), but write speed significantly improved; its now almost 30 MB/s (28-29 on average).
please provide links if possible

everything, when i run it on gparted it just says unallocated, then I just format it and re partition it fat32 then ext 3(1gb).
Dodgy card?
If it were just the ext I would think it was a file system corruption caused by unclean unmount, but both partitions? Hmmm
Try reformat it and download h2testw to check it for errors perhaps on your pc?
I've had the card for about six months now and not had a problem.

Do you have any software that you can set to wipe the SD card? I'm thinking about autowipe as I had the same problem and the cause was a setting in autowipe which wiped the SD card if you entered the wrong screen unlock code so many times. While in my pocket the screen got activated, random codes were entered and the SD card got wiped!

No, I've not put anything like that on, don't think there is anything in the miuixj rom that does that.
tested around a gb of data on a lexar 16gb class 4 card, heres the results .
Warning: Only 1024 of 14223 MByte tested.
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 9.80 MByte/s
Reading speed: 17.4 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4
I've no idea if this is good or bad to be honest.
If I get chance later I'll format the card and do a full test.

That is sort of good. It means in the 1GB you tested, there were no errors. But yeah if you get chance, at least you can rule that out.
Do the read write speeds look ok for a class 4 ? i'll do a full test later, when hopefully I'll not need the phone.
got it running again using miuixj xpart, with a few apps on the ext, they are the ones that f/c first.
CWM re partitioned my sd carrd by itself?
Last night I was making nandroid backup when I picked up my phone I accidentally hit backup (again). Fine so I made extra backups.
When I wake up I see an error that titanium backup was interrupted and the sd card was removed.
This morning, my SD card is unreadable by my phone AT ALL. I use an old HTC incredible 1 as a card reader and in mass storage mode I see that the SD card went from 32gb down to 8gb and has only ONE folder on it full of misc app data for a single app.
F:\Android\data\com.zoodles.kidmode\files\audio\en\US a bunch of mp3 sounds.
Everything else is gone! The card does register 2 other partitions though inaccessible to Windows.
HOW did CWM or Titanium repartition my SD card in the middle of the night all by itself?????
Ideas on how to retrieve or access any data that MIGHT still be there???
I plan to boot into Live USB Linux Parted Magic and examine the partitions.....but WTF!??!

Hi guys,
I have a 32g class 10 sd card I bought to use instead of my 16gb class 2 but I have been facing quite some issues in the last couple of weeks
I took the 32g, put it in my win7 PC, formatted it to FAT32, safely removed it and now the arc doesnt recognize it... I just wanted to format it via the settings-> storage -> erase card in order to make sure everything is all peaches and cream before loading 20+gig of music in it.
...
All I want to do is finally transfer all my music (24ish gig) to the new 32g , and back up all my apps and stuff via Titanium Back Up pro.
Simply said, I want to have my 16g card data in my 32g one , with all my beat
Please could someone share some tips or links, I'll do homeworks and have been, but I have been facing so many complications since the last few weeks
Thanks in advance
Does your phone recognize another card properly?
Did you apply a volume name when formatting the 32GB card?
Did you try the 32GB card in the phone before formatting it?
I've done pretty much the same as you with a 32GB card (Kingston Class 4) and had no problem.
Are you sure the 32GB card is good and not a counterfeit?
Try formatting it again to with FAT32, default parameters, short or no volume name. Try copying your files to the card on the PC to see if it actual works.

Thanks I did put a volume name. That might explain it.
Yes the card already worked ( plenty of times ). I have been trying numerous time to transfert the music ( takes forever to transfer 20gig to an SD card , even class 10... ), and had mixed results that always ended up failing ( most of the times because of me... like forgeting to safely remove the sd card from my laptop made the card unrecognizable by the phone afterward...of course I just finished to tranfers the 20gig and was too happy to safely remove it... )
I will try that right now. thanks again
*EDIT*
Bah still same problem I must be doing stupid... SD card is not recognized by the phone. In the settings menu ( storage ) I cannot mount or unmount it and thus format it via the phone itself
That even after reformating it to default FAT32 partition with no volume name using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home
So number 1 priority is getting the SD card to be recognized again by the phone
**EDIT2**
When browsing the card with astro it says problem creating external cache , with root explorer it only says directory is empty. Still can't do anything in the settings menu

How did you recover your issue?
I think I have a similar SD card problem. But, I encountered it after I did factory reset with SD card erase option selected. I didn't do anything after all. When I connect to PC, on the phone upper bar, there is no notification regarding USB. The middle button seems not working either.
Try formatting the card with this Panasonic SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card formatter.
That's strange why not just do a quick format in Win7 or WinXP, to FAT32? I use a 32GB as well and Arc has no issue with it. Coming from the 8GB, here's what I did.
1. Take off the 8GB from the Arc and placed in a USB reader.
2. Copy off all the files to your PC. I used WinRAR to accomplish this, just archive everything and STORE it (no need to compress so operation is faster). Or you can just use drag and drop plain copying its all the same.
3. Analyze the copied files and remove all unneeded bloats (ie. old movies u don't intend to watch anymore, clear out useless temp files, etc)
4. Copy back the files on your new FAT32 formatted card using the USB reader, then put in your Arc.
If you notice, the entire data migration is done via card reader/USB. Using the Arc as such will slowdown your progress and introduces unnecessary delays.
You can also use usb tool, it basicaly creates a back up image and can be restored to the new sd

My girlfriend got the HTC Wildfire S for MetroPCS a couple of weeks ago. It is a nice phone except for one little problem: The internal memory is crap. She has exactly 5 apps installed, all are moved to SD, and she has 7.14 MB or internal memory free. It is running the stock 2.3 Rom rooted. I need some help figuring out what to do. Before you guys make suggestions let me list what I have already done:
1. S-OFF and rooted, removed all bloatware, which moved it from 3.21 MB to 8 MB which seems like BS because a few of those apps were about 6 MB in size.
2. Moved apps to SD card partially in the applications menu in settings.
3. Cleaned caches
4. Uninstalled almost every application.
This is very frustrating because she cant update apps, she cant download apps, and it is frustrating because I have the old Huawei Ascend on CM7 and I have more apps and am faster than her phone, its ridiculous, I also wonder why after removing over 60MB or crap and bloatware it freed up about 7MB. Makes no sense. I don't want to do DT's app2sd script yet because she doesn't have a way to back up her stuff before the partition of the SD card. If anyone can explain another way or something I can do to fix this please..... It would be greatly appreciated.
Use Partition Wizard Home (Free) to resize your FAT32 partition and create your Ext(whatever your kernel supports) partition on a windows machine.
No need to back up. Doesn't destroy partitions.
My preference is Link2SD free from the market.
You can mass move your apps, dalvik cache and library files to the Ext(Probably Ext2 with stock rom kernel) from the SD card and internal to your Ext partition very easy.
Also you can set it up to auto do this when new apps are installed and choose which apps you want to keep fully internal for faster booting, startup, etc.

Just curious....because I own a LEXAR 32GB Class 10 and also in my GSIII I have the SanDisk 64GB Class 10...
I've always wondered if it is best to format the SD card on my computer or on the phone?
This is what I usually do:
1. Format the card on my computer. (Mac: Disk Utility -> I use the second security that writes it over 3 times -> Of course FAT32)
2. Then when I put the SD card back in the phone, I just format it again real quick.
For all you data guru's that understand how memory/data works...like really....I'd love to hear your input and knowledge on this subject.
I may be just be over thinking it....typical Virgo....I just want to make sure I do everything the best possible the first time as I'm sure this will also help others as well who may be curious. :good:
btw: My LEXAR crashed on me 2 times....it may just be a lemon...who knows but gosh thanks for data recovery programs.
I would assume formatting on a computer would be most effective.

When formatting your SD card using Windows, there are some options that some people may be unclear about....
In the window it shows:
Capacity: " "
File System: FAT32 <--- Do not format in exFAT
Allocation unit size: I just left this as "Default."
Allocation Unit Size wise....leave that alone and keep it on default? Or ......
If it's 32gb or less computer is fine and quicker
Higher than 32 you would need some kind of 3rd party app

Hi,
I have a couple of questions.
Question 1:
So, to increase the available memory on my C1904, I installed Link2SD, works beautifully, but the app(which we have to move to the card) must be in the phone memory first, which is my problem, my phone just has 600MB left! I installed 'Directory Bind' for that, it basically links the app's data folder (phone memory/Android/data/app.something.something) to the SD Card in a way that the phone is tricked into "thinking" that the folder we create on the SD card(SD Card/Android/data/app.something.something) is a part of the internal memory, I. E. It binds the two.
But, directory bind has this problem where you have to select the "bind" option whenever you want to use that app data from the SD Card.
So, how about we use DB(Directory Bind) to download big files into the main partition of the SD card and then use Link2SD on it(while still bound), which will take the files to the ext2 partition on the SD Card(used by Link2SD), well, most of them. Then, the leftovers (very small in size) can be moved to the phone memory.
The benefit will be that we won't have to bind it again and again and won't have to worry about USB Connection with a computer as the ext2 partition is never disconnected!
What do you guys think? Will it work ?
Question 2:
I am going to put the game/app files in the SD Card, that means I'll need a fast SD as well.
What class will be the best to buy? 10 OR 6? OR will class 4 do good enough?
TY.

I did use the swap sd script, but it still used to save the data in the internal memory even though it recognized the card as the internal memory!
Are faster cards than class 10 even available!? According to a few articles 4 or more than 4 will do just fine. True?
