No problems with wakelocks. What could be the problem? Running PA 2.99.9 and lk 5.7 no OC interactive and row
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

My biggest problem is screen time. I can never get more than 1.5 hours on a single charge, that lasts 8 hours at the max. Also, it's a Verizon gnex
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Try to install Better battery stat app (which is free on XDA), let it run a few hours and post results here.
Also, which brightness level are you using? Rom, Kernel? Custom color settings?

Auto brightness no custom colors and check post #1 for rom and kernel

-Get a new battery
-Change kernels
-Change ROMs
-Change Governors, CPU frequency speeds, and/or I/O schedulers
-Use a 4.2+ ROM and kernel that will insure you get a GPS lock
-Check for any rogue apps that continuously run in the background
-When these aren't being used, turn these off: Data, Bluetooth, Wifi, Sync, Location, and autobrightness. use Lux for autobrightness, both free and donate in the play store.
-Buy an extended battery (I bought the Seidio 3800MaH battery, worth the money.
Hope I helped!

I had similar issues and imo it was all related to the 4.2.1 roms+kernel. My phone lasted 6-8h. It didn't matter if i used it or not the battery life was terrible. After switching a lot of kernels the latest faux123 was the best.
I really had bad charging if i would use my phone while charging it would not charge and it would sometimes also lose percentage of was scary. I changed my adapter batteries with a friend he is running 4.1.2 blackbean and everything was okay but mine still had problems. After flashing latest faux123 kernel it is as i said working really good. Btw im a heavy user.

Is that for you battery problem?
That looks really normal but yeah.. I have much better battery life! D
68% of battery left, Nexus have been in idle 7 hours 1min, screen on 60 min...
Change ROM, I recommend stock ROM Takju/Yakju
Use stock kernel.
Try different radio basebands, I recommend the XXLH1 radio baseband for Takju/Yakju build (JB 4.2.1)
Disable apps which runs in background what you don't even use.. e.g. "Currents"

I had the same problem and I solved it changing rom and kernel

So I've got a recommendation for faux123 and stock. Remember that this is a Verizon gnex. Any other good kernels?

Trinity is having troubles all over the place with sods and trinity was always my so to say daily driver kernel. Franco also had that problems like trinity but his latest kernel is good but that battery drain remained. Anarkia's purity kernel is good his latest version is v11 but lot of people say v5 was/is the best. Leankernel was giving me some serious problems. Faux123 gave a bootloop before but his latest release b3 i think is the bomb.
All these kernels were tested on three roms xenonhd, xylon (imho most packed and flawless rom currently) and now i'm beta testing blackbean7. The problem with kernel+rom is that our devices are not the sam, so faux may good for me but bad for you or vice versa. Just try it out first and then go from there flashing other kernels.

I am having almost identical issues. I have gone to stock and changed kernels, roms, radios you name it, battery life stayed about the same 6-8 hrs. Will check out lux and faux kernel

[Q]battery drain

Hi you all
I resently went from Android Revolution Hd to CM 7, and I'm a bit suprised over the battery drain I have had the first cycluses.
My DHD have no been on for about 7 houres, an I have allready not more than 25 % of battery left with moderate usage. With this much usage it lastet until late night on stock and with Android Revolution HD, and my phone is configured the same as before, only there are fewer things that are syncing on cm7 than on the others roms?
I did a full swipe prior to installing a new rom, I cleaned dalvik cache, and reset battery stats after instalation.
I am using the recomended radio 26.04.02.17_m2 with the RIL for that radio.
What I did was to install launcher pro and uses that instead of the adw launcher, do I need to do anything else with the ADW other than just set the launcher pro as standard launcher?
Anybody else had these problems or has any suggestions?
Thanks in advance...
CM7 eats more there is nothing we can do about it I think.
Put that aside I am user and I bought it to use it, it lasts for me about 5-6 hours sometimes less, what bothers me my battery is always hot but I need to charge it to use it. I fear it'll explode someday.
But when I am not using it it can eat about 1 percent or less but I do not need it to lay around doing nothing. Should have bought galaxy tab or somethin.

I don't have any battery drain issues with CM7 and Radio_12.48.60.23U_26.08.04.07_M3.

Even with my Arc and light usage (only 20 mins wifi per day) I can barely reach 3 days

WTF?¿?¿ HOW YOU CAN DO IT? wen i flash CM7 in my htc hero or my DHD the batteryThe battery is consumed in 1 ' 5 days more or less.
with the recommenend radios, and cyanogen kernel with SET CPU (HERO: 514 MHZ conservative, and DHD 960mhz smartass)
The problem was solved for me after the 7.02 update, and by installing the newest test radio. With moderate to heavy usage I get somwhere around 20 - 30 hours.
Extremely happy with how my DHD is acting with this ROM. I missed Sense applications, but after installing Launcher PRO I got it the way I wanted.
But 5th days..... Thats impressive

[Q] Battery Rom Question.

Hellos guys I would like to know wich Rom out there has the best battery life.??? Im running the latest juggernaut..thanks.
I would say dewizzled
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I'm not sure if you can just say best battery life is XXX as everyone's usage patterns are different and different aspects drain the battery faster than others. I have found Dewizzed to give me the best life out of all of the ones I've tried, but I don't get near the time that many post in that thread. The one difference is that when they post their usage stats I never see "Voice Calls" in the top half of the apps using battery, whereas if I look at mine right now Voice calls is #1 at 53% and Display is #2 at 18%. I use my phone heavily as a phone during the workweek, others use it as a media device, others gaming...you get the idea.
Try Dewizzed and try a couple of others. It's easy to flash and then restore or go back to one that works better for you (plus the geek in me thinkgs that is fun too).

I was wondering the same thing. But more along the lines of which rom kernel combo people are running. Now to hijack original posters thread, but if people could also put what kernel they are running too. The best I ever got was BeastMod with Synergy, but once he left the building I don't feel like any of the other ones have been as good.

That tells us little, click on display and show us how much time the display has actually been on
From my experience, it is not necessarily the rom that effects the battery life as much as the kernel does. Every rom I have installed I end up changing the kernel to synergy 10 and see a big increase in battery life.

Display time on and brightness? From the graph it doesn't seem like you used the phone for too much and we don't know how bright your screen was, time on voice calls and any other applications. Why is it that people don't know how to post battery life correctly? Your wifi was on most of the time and wifi uses less battery than data connectivity plus we don't know the type of reception you were receiving. Edge consumes less battery than 3G. These are all factors that need to be taken into consideration to draw a clear conclusion on your battery life.

Need help figuring out why battery life sucks after upgrading to Jelly Bean?

Just moved to Jelly Bean after reading so many recommendations about it. It's a lot smoother than ICS, but for some reason, I'm only getting 1/3 the battery life I used to get.
Here are some screen shots:

A couple details. I never have to tether my phone to charge. I have 3 batteries and 2 external chargers. When the battery dies, I just pop in a fresh one.
I completed did a CLEAN re-flash of the phone yesterday and I can't figure out why I can only get 1 hr of screen on time and ~5hrs of battery life? I used to get 2.5-3hrs of screen on time and 14-15hrs of battery life.
I'm running CNA JB ROM (which runs great on a Nexus S we have) but for some reason, it drains the battery on the Galaxy Nexus like no other. Earlier in the week, I've tried Franco Milestone 5 and Trinity kernels without any improvement.
I'm stumped because the phone is able to go into DEEP SLEEP, so there are no wake locks. It's completely puzzling!
Would appreciate any input or ideas on this!
Well first and for most, Amazon app store seems like it's taking tons of battery... have you been using it maybe?
Also jelly bean in general takes more battery than ics because of project butter and Google Now. Those two takes quite a few battery. On top of that, of you have rogue apps, I wouldn't be surprised.

Thanks for the input. But, I have always been using Amazon App Store ever since Galaxy Nexus came out without any problems.
Also, we're running CNA JB ROM on a Nexus S without any hit to battery life worse than ICS?
Also, what percent drain per hour are you getting in DEEP SLEEP? I used to get 0.5-1.0% drain. Now, my Gnex is getting 3% drain...IN DEEP SLEEP!

How long are you talking about? 3 per hour? That seems abnormal for me. Mine takes about 1% per hour. Use better battery stat to see what is causing it.

Custom Kernel - What do you say?

Hi everyone, for a long time i see ppl claiming their phone last longer due to a custom kernel.
Normally i read they saying "i could never make my phone lasting with 2hs screen on or lasting for 2 days".
Anyway, its obviously that this will depend 100% what ppl do with their phone accordingly to apps, widgets, syncing, etc.
For me, normally i have around 3 and a half hour screen on and around 1 day and a half to 2 days.
I do use WiFi and 3G alot... browsing, gaming, texting, etc.
My point is that i belive ppl have a placebo effect. Custom kernel will give you faster response, OC ability and other advantages.
What do you guys say?
Attached are some screenshot from my 100% stock phone.

I just believe some of the little tweaks devs do to a custom kernel do make a difference.
I bag 4h30m on my gnex regularly.
Yea I totally agree that stock performs just as well in the battery life department. All I care about is having root.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Your battery life won't really get better than that. I really agree that there's often a placebo effect in switching roms/kernels, i only use a different kernel for color settings volume boost via Francos app. Stick with stock though I'd say, but of course it's always nice to try out kernels, despite the placebo effect.
Speaking of which though, I'm performing a real life test seeing which governors on my kernel work best for battery life. I simply switch then lol at my screen on time and see if it's improved, I'm assuming hotplugx will win, so we'll see. Interactive is still a great balanced on though.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
It made a difference for me personally, because I wasn't getting very good battery life at all with the stock kernel. The other tweaks were also a pretty good bonus.
You're getting pretty great battery life as is though, I wouldn't worry too much about changing to a custom kernel if you're consistently getting numbers like those.
Thanks everybody for the feedback. I guess we are all at the same page.

Battery life or not but performance of the phone definitely improves with custom kernels... Asphalt 7 use to lag a bit on stock JRO03C but after trying Franco kernel Milestone 6 no lag or reboots whatsoever..
In fact I have a placebo that custom kernels reduce battery life
Worth it for the small performance improvements alone but I do get a little better battery life.
Even a few percent better is better than nothing when you sit in a building with poor reception and your battery takes a hit from your phone having a low signal

no sync because i don't have the data to go syncing the whole day, auto brightness, 3g outside, wifi at home. Web browsing only, i don't play games on my phone, it's reserved for my computer.
Stock kernel, stock ROM. Turn off auto sync unless you are connected to a wifi hotspot. This will give you 3 hours screen on time and 12+ hours uptime. I have 3 email accounts set up, but they do not sync automatically. I manually check my email in the am, at lunch, and evening.
Stock kernel, unless you can't help but obsess about making your phone "fast". If you want fast, go into Development Options within Settings and turn off all animations, then install a launcher like Nova and turn animations to "faster than light".
I used to flash all kinds of mods on my phone and I realized that was ALL I did with my phone, tinker and troubleshoot it. I will only unlock and root my phone if we stop getting the latest OS updates. In the meantime, nothing is so wrong with the stock kernel and rom that should make you install Bob's OS. But you know, that's the beauty of Android. You can decide what you do with your phone. Hope my point of view makes you reconsider flashing any custom software.

Mind you, my 2 hours GPS is using real GPS while going out on my bike. Drainage is around 10% a hour while playing music on the speaker as well. I never turn off GPS positioning on the phone.
Anyway seems like battery life on 4.4 is on par with 4.3... Would probably be a little better if using ART but qremote won't work so... :crying:

oh I see, my gps just stays on for simple things like facebook and whatnot, not actually using gps to navigate. thanks for the clarification.
I've seen vast improvements in terms of battery life on KK. But I ended up sticking to MIUI as the custom kernel in it gives me the best battery life I've seen on this device. I've done extensive tests on ways to improve battery life across all of my devices for the last 3 years and it mainly seems to boil down to the kernel. As we don't have any custom kernels that support 4.4 or a stable 4.3 kernel, we're stuck using the default CM kernel. The new MIUI over in the general section includes a very well made custom kernel that includes the intellidemand governor which would give me around 6 hours of screen on time in a days use with normal usage with the setup I use. MIUI also gives me the best deep sleep I've seen on.. Well, any device I've used lol. Never been a big fan of it but the battery life is what made me change my mind. It also includes a working version of qremote. The only drawback I've seen is that it's on 4.2.2 but man, is it nice. I'd post battery life screenshots but they wouldn't really be helpful as I've changed to the 9300mAh ZL battery lol.
