battery problem, i think - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello,
Hoping someone can help me with my GN,
Here's the problem my battery drain is weird, it thinks its charging and then goes back to normal constantly and the battery dies rather quickly.
I am running the aokp jb mr1 rom but it's been happening before that.
basically toggles on and off charging icon and drains battery.

Poopie usb port.
It's a hardware problem.

could it be a software issue to??
like maybe an unclean flash??
or maybe change roms or kernels or both??
if it comes to it maybe restore it to full stock unrooted and than root and flash it?
ive done that a few times.. just a thought

No. It's the USB port. Some users with this problem have reported success by carefully bending the USB port internal 'flap'.

Help Me Fix This [CASH REWARD]

Hello All
So, on my GSM Galaxy Nexus, i clean flashed the CodeNameAndroid ROM, and still using the Stock Kernel that comes with it.
My issue is, when i charge my phone, the battery is charged to 91% and stops there, it keeps charging, but never goes above 91% and the charging does not stop too...
I did a battery stats wipe, i replaced the battery with a new one, same thing, took phone under warranty, workshop tech said nothing is wrong with the phone....
I'm galmost giving up on this, it's really annoying, if anyone can help, a cash reward will be sent your way through PayPal, upto $100 because i love my GNex and not planning on replacing it.
Thanks!

if you check the battery in settings you will actually find it says not charging but the icon is still charging
of course flash stock images and try just to be sure

Dang... Well, imma give the stock JB a go n see
I forgot to mention something...
I was running Android Revolution HD 6.0.1 ROM 1st, combined with franco Kernel r281 .. then saw the ROM got an update to 6.1.0, so i fully wiped my GNex, flashed 6.1.0 and then flashed Trinity Kernel.
Since then, i had the battery issue.
Now, running CNA ROM 3.6.6, and just few seconds ago i flashed franco Kernel r282 which is the latest nightly build, i have the phone on charge now, let's see how it goes

I had a very very similar issue with my Samsung Infuse and I tried EVERYTHING! Turned out to be my wall charger; apparently Samsung wall chargers are known to have cheap internals and crap out.

BIG Problem

For like the past day or two my phone has been running extremely hot and the battery isnt charging like it normally does. Now it charges extremely slowly, if at all sometimes, and no the contacts are not dirty. I Tried charging it using USB and also wall outlet, ive tried changing the wall "brick" used to plug in my usb cord to higher and lower amperage and voltage but same problem. Now back to the heat problem, Ive tried switching up ROMs, kernels, ROM/kernel combinations just in case it was a kernel and/or ROM problem and same thing. Both problems happen with my 3800mAh extended battery and stock battery. Please if anyone knows anything about this or has any help its well appreciated.

Weird, dude. Well you close to being able to safely assume its not a software issue. But before ruling that out completely I would Odin back to stock; it really does make a difference. Also, can you tell me where the phone is getting the hottest at? Is it just the battery or is it somewhere else?

Its starting to sound like you have a hardware problem. I'm not sure what device is right there but I think its the radio? Maybe someone can confirm.

They may not care, but I personally would try to get back to stock not to chance it.
Also, I most definitely recommend fastboot over Odin. The only time I would use Odin, is if my USB port died and I wanted to get back to stock.
OKayy thanks ill try that

[Q] questions about battery/charging issues related to flashing

Could flashing a ROM or kernel effect how my battery charges and holds charge?
The second question is more less obvious but I'm constantly flashing new ROMs and kernels based on battery dischargement as battery is a huge deal to me so saying that charging the battery is also a big deal to me. Recently I noticed that with flashing a ROM and kernel at times the charging will be crazy long (ie. 1% per 10 mins) when I see this I try wiping dalvic cache and most other trouble shooting fixes.. I give up and flash to another ROM or kernel now the interesting part is that let's say I wanted to give per said ROM another shot I'll flash again same exact way same exact kernel.. But this time it charges beautifully (ie. 1 or 2% per minute)... So saying all that I ask and wonder if there is something I'm doing wrong or is it something to do with going from 4.2.2 to 4.1.2 (noticed it more when flashing from one to the other in no order).. Id ask what ROM and kernel would be best for battery but I've been flashing for over 2 yrs and have realized ROMs and kernels very per device.. Wanted to start Q&A about this and hear peoples thoughts.. Thanks much
PS.. Sorry bout the rambling pretty f**ed up on patron when writing this
This is a update did alot of testing and I think I nailed.. I noticed the charging time is effect only when having the charger in when flashing tried all my ROMs with out he charger in recovery and been working beautiful with the charger tried two ROMs helly bean and infamous both were effected.. Hope this helps someone with the issue.. I'll leave this thread up to help others unless theirs a similar thread happy flashing everyone

[Q] Galaxy Nexus charging very slowly after 4.3 update

Since the 4.3 update, my phone charges really slowly.
Sometimes it takes up to 5-6 hours to charge completely. I heard some Nexus 7 users are having the same issue too.
Anyone else experiencing it? Any solutions found for the same?
4.3 is awesome but the battery is killing me as it takes so damn long to charge.

I'm currently running PA 3.99 which is a 4.3 ROM, but I'm not experiencing slow charging. If you want to charge your phone faster anyway, either toggle fast charge or airplane mode. Or just shut down your phone for a sec, that'll also help a lot since you're not connected to any kind of network with the last to ways. Maybe let your battery die completely, charge it back to 100% in one run and repeat that a few times. Calibrate your battery and that might solve something as well, as your battery statistics might not be updated since you flashed a new ROM.
BTW: This is just what I do, you might already know all this, but it's just my 2 cents.

Read the OP. Your issue and his are totally different. But I am guessing your issue is still related to the charging port, check to see if the pin is out of place...

Guys, It shows charging but infact it is not.
Also it drains too fast.
Is the battery dead or what?
Please give your valuable comments and resolve issue.

You haven't provided nearly enough information for anyone reputable to offer you a decent or reasonable response. ROM? Version of ROM, or, if running stock, version of android? How do you know it isn't charging? When did you notice a significant drain, or inability to charge normally? Rooted? What are you using to charge your device, included plug and USB cable, or third party? Have you tried alternative plugs and USB cords? See how easy that was.

Thanks for the Reply.
It is stock unrooted, 6.01. The battery drain problem started right after the update to the latest version. I have tried both plug and USB cable. Normally, I use plugs only.

It is widely known that 6.01 is causing huge wifi idle drain. It's possible that the drain is greater than incoming charge, but only you can ascertain that.

Either just manually shut off WiFi when the device isn't in use, or consider taking the steps necessary to revert to an older factory ROM or a custom ROM (if you choose to unlock and root) where this isn't an issue (5.1.1). In terms of ease, I would just wait for an update unless you want to learn how to install a custom ROM.
