[Q] HTC One V earphones/earpiece not working? - HTC One V

And one fine day, the earpiece/ earphone of HTC One V was projecting abysmally low volume to the extent that i could only hear a faint voice. I didnt drop the phone nor did i drop anything on the phone. I tried some volume booster apps but i realised they are only for speakers, wired or bluetooth headset.
Instinctively, it feels like a hardware issue. But i am hoping i am wrong. Can anyone suggest any other reason/solution please? Will be highly obliged...

which rom do you have?
does your earphone working properly ???

The rom is the default HTC One V rom. I am not too sure if the earphone is working or not as I cant hear the voice properly.

Try custom ROMs

not a problem so far for me

Try your headfones on some other fone... It its still not working... The problm is there in headphones... But if not... May be hardware prob. Of ur fone or rom...

Same here!
All of a sudden, ear speaker stopped working. I have used a variety of ROMs and I am pretty sure this is a hardware issue because software had been stable for a long while, and other speakers work fine.
Going to try to replace it...

Phone Recognizes Earphones As Headset

Hey all,
Since I have the DHD i have the problem that he recognizes my in-ear from skullcandy (no mic. or control) as a headset which should have mic and volumecontrols. It sounds like it doesn't matter but when I listen to music or even when I do nothing and my in-ear are plugged in, the phone begins to call people or stops the music by itself. It changes the icon from headphone to headset. Hope you guys know these 2 different icons. I guess the in-ear sends commands to the phone or something? I know pretty much everything about the DHD, but this... I also tried every ROM available for DHD.
Searched the forum for this problem but I couldn't find the answer.
A friend of mine who has got the Sensation (stock ROM) got the same problem..
I hope you understand what the problem is. Buying other in-ears just doesn't work, I've tried.
Buying in-ears with control is just too expensive

Same issue
Hello,
I am experiencing the very same problem with my HTC Desire. What did you do to fix it?
Thank you.

any kind of help will be much appreciated

Hey peeps. I have an issue with my gnex. Everything was fine till 2 days ago. When i make a phone call i hear this cracking sound before i hear the ringtone. Yesterday it got worse. I hear the sound when on a call. Today its worse. I cant hear anything.on the speaker expect that loud cracking noise. Music plays well. System sounds play well. Even viber calls are normal. No sound. Only when making a normal gsm call. Its so loud the person i'm calling can hear the irritating sound. I've tried switching sim cards on my htc but the.issue doesnt exist on that phone. My phone was unrooted till today. I have rooted the phone and tried flashing a new radio. The problem still persists. If anyone is willing to share and help me out and need more information i can provide. Thank you in advance.
this sounds more like a problem with your carrier and not the phone.

New SIM? Yell at the carrier? Throw the phone into a lava pit?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
i dont know what the problem is. i have tried a different SIM on my nexus and its still the same. weird thing is..the speaker is fine when making calls with viber.
throwing the phone into a lava pit isnt an option. there are no volcanoes where i live.
Might be a defective gnex... just tell Samsung and they'll replace it for you hopefully

i dont think it is defective. something must have happened. i nvr dropped it. nvr exposed it to water or heat. i have had this phone for abt 4 months now.
Seems like the phone is defective..
This may sound like a far-fetched idea, but if you want, you could try installing another baseband? Don't really see how this would change anything though :/
yup. maybe it has got something to do with the antenna. my viber calls are fine. my speaker makes that noise when calling out or answering a call. loudspeaker does the same thing..and also its the same when using my earphones. i have tried flashing a new baseband yesterday and it didnt work. i even tried installing a custom rom. ARHD 3.0. flashed a new baseband but it is still the same.
Defective ear-piece?

Headphone problems on HOX

Hi guys,
Fairly new so take it easy on me.
New owner of the One X and is a worthy upgrade to my excellent Desire HD.
Sorry if this has been asked already but has anyone had any headphone problems. It seems when headphone inserted its just doesn't pick this up and continues to play audio via speaker.
I'm hoping I'm being very dumb and missing something cos I don't want the hassle of returning the phone.
Much appreciated guys.

It seems like your phone doenst recognize your headphones...
I had the same problem when i bought my sgs+
i solved it by trying several headphones and it worked with one i found
Thanks for the response.
I'll give that a good but seems bad that it can't work with any headphones.

It does seem strange, I have tried 4 sets of headphones with my HOX (I know, I just like headphones) and haven't come across this.
It could just be an issue with the set you have, hope it's not the phone/headphone socket, good luck!
I've only had it for 4 days so if I'm not happy after some tests it's going back to O2 shop. Which I want to avoid as I have just set everything up etc.

Lets take into consideration
he told us that he has a new phone
so i realy cant imagine its the headphone socket in the phone
if its stock it cannot be a soft bug (ofcourse it could but if it would be a soft bug htc would be a poooooooor cellphone manufacture )
So lets look
some phones (dont ask me why) do not recognize cheap headphones
in some way the do but than only one side works propperly or the sound is messed up or something else
I would call the HTC support hotline
IT must be your phone, mine recognises it perfectly.
Ok however this is a problem that cant be redone by anybody else in a propper way
i would suggest to contact your cellphone seller or the htc support hotline
Thanks for the response guys.
I'm going to try a few different headphones tonight and see what happens. Hopefully it's just these headphones it doesn't like.
If not then a return it is.

Let me know how u fixed the issue
definitely try different headphones. My Favourite pair of Sonys dont work in any HTC phone. They are noise cancelling, so they have a 5pin jack, and HTC's simply don't recognise it.
as long as you have a standard 3 or 4 pin pair, it should be ok, but there are some where the pins don't seem to line up just right...
**** thats what i mentioned to be the problem....
i know it sounds a bit stupid but if the sony headset is ur favourite u might search for a adapter or something else
Sounds like a phone fault to me - I've tried loads of headsets and headphones, all have worked in terms of sound coming out (mic and buttons working is a different story).
Did your HOX come with HTC headphones - I thought they were included as standard, (although they are tinny/cheap) if it doesn't work with them then there is a problem.
If all else fails take the phone and the headphones to the shop and get them to see for themselves.
Good luck.
Ok i dont have this phone and i dont know anybody by the moment who hast this phone
Ask other people u know owning the same phone like u if the may let u test the headset that works for them
To be honest today was the first time I tried some headphones while at work. And they were my old desire HD headphones I had in my draw.
So once I get home I shall try the new HTC ones as well as others I have.
And if not then I will indeed be returning to the shop. I'll let you guys know. Thanks again.

And I know totally off subject but any advice on battery calibration etc. Or maybe link to relevant thread as I can't seem to find one. Or one that makes sense to a novice like me.

Right guys I have good news. Its seems the One X just didn't like my old HTC headphones. All others I have tried have worked. So panic over.
It most be as mentioned earlier about the pins.

The battery does not need "calibrating".
Android calibrates its battery meter against the battery when the battery is fully charged. This means that the battery meter will show reasonable values for the remaining battery life.
That is a fact, regardless of what other people may say, think or do.

HTC one x headphone jack issue

Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can shed some light on an issue with the headphone jack I've started having. The HTC headphones supplied have stopped being recognised. They work in other devices just not in the HTC one x. Now if plug a different type of headphones into the phone they work and are recognised. This problem only started about a month ago before that everything was ok. I'm guessing its a fault with the phone but just wondering if anyone else has this issue.

I'm having the same issue albeit a little differently. My personal earbuds get unrecognized frequently after plugging for a little while. It happens even if I leave the jack stationary and not touching the phone at all and after 2-3 songs it will stop recognizing my earbuds.
Tried on 2 earbuds same result. Wanted to send in for repairs but have no idea what to tell HTC. Cos it happens randomly.

I had this problem mine used to disconnect and connect randomly i used a app called Sound About by David Woods from market the override the detection of headphones and this worked great. In the end my phone had signal problems so was replaced. Give it ago if you dont want to send phone off.
Thanks a lot for your help. The app seems work.

I had the same issue a few months ago.
After some time i did send it in (htc picked it up thenext day) and they replaced the headset connector.
Since then no problems anymore.
You can also go to Htc certified repair center for this replacement.

same
I have the same issue with my htc one (((
I had the same issue, new set of ears and is was good . after 2 weeks my
Headphonejack is completely broken! It sounds like 1 site of the ears isn't always working (same problem when ears are old and broken)
I can't send it to HTC because i have a rooted phone!

(Q help which part of the software controls the headphone socket

Ok so I have this problem. I'm really into my music but on certain rims I've tried. Specifically miui and viper jb then won't get recognised. I plug them in and nothing. There fine on other rooms that I've tried so I was thinking that these 2 roms change the framework quite a bit so could it be that?
I've ruled out hardware on both items which leaves software but I don't know where to start
Has anyone else had this issue
Thanks

What doesn't get recognised? Your headphones?
Yes just my beats. There a few threads around about it but it's weird. The beats headphones work in other phones and other headphones work straight away. It's annoying me.

Please try to be clearer. You plug them in and nothing? So... Sound still comes out of the phone speaker?

Yes they are not recognised. It's as if I hadn't plugged then in however I can plug another set in straight away and they will work. Same as if I plug the beats into a different phone.they work fine.
