[Q] ReactOS ARM port on Rhodium?

Ok, so...
At first I found a ReactOS offical ARM port.

At second I don't understand it at all so if anyone are good in this type of thing, tell us is it possible to have it working UNDER HARET?
And finaly at third If yes, is it will be possible to run any applications excluding a orginals one?

i'd say ehm.. for the heck of it?
don't really think there is a point tho in rOS, both windows that comes natively and android have a massive userbase and for a 'full OS' there is already someone building linux version of Ubuntu.
beside that, the React OS makes use of 'windows' binaries (from what i read on their website.) which are in x86 format as far as i believe, running them on an ARM processor isn't likely to work.
if i'm incorrect please correct me

Not really, all the binaries were written by ReactOS Team and they are open source... So in practise we can compile it and have it running on ARM processor.
And why? Simply. If all the dll's and files can run exe files we should be able to run normal applications like firefox, flash, etc. Maybe not at maxiumum speed(because of alpha build of ReactOS) but still it can be quite useful.
I didn't managed to build it. As far as I read it is imposible beacause of compiler which doesn't compile it correctly, or at all.
If anyone have any ideas how to do it tell us...
P.S. The full source of ReactOS + additional appliactions included is avaible at ReactOS main page.

Well ReactOS to my knowledge doesn't run that well on x86 machines, so I doubt our tired old phones will run it very well...
Rhodbuntu isn't good enough...? I'd say that's your best hope - in theory it will run FF & flash...

ReactOS of course is not the faster system ever but it it a only(actualy) operation system that is in open source and have a fully rewritten binaries, etc.
And BTW you still can't have a flash and Java(SE) running on armel(rhodbuntu)

Ah didn't realize. What makes you think it'll work on React? lol

Theres a possibility. But as I test the recent version out, there are problems with it, so I dont think its a good idea to port. There are issues from clicking to how things are displayed to windows sticking & not listening to me when I click close or minimize/maximize.

hello my name is mike clery I was wondering any info on a 8.1 jailbreak I really want to install legacy apps on my surface rt so if you can tell me anything its December 26 and still no info on it

Dude. Don't pester the devs. Don't post questions that have already been asked and answered over and over again. Don't, ever, ask for ETAs or similar concerning hacks like this. Leaving aside the simple fact that it's impossible to predict anything of that nature (and thus asking is simply useless and annoying spam), people on here are volunteers doing this stuff in our own time. You are not our boss, to ask for regular status reports or some such thing. It'll be posted when it's ready. No point asking for anything else.
There has been plenty of discussion regarding an 8.1 jailbreak. I get that you're new, but time was, new members of a community had the courtesy to observe, and emulate, the behavior of the older members of the community. At a minimum, check the forum rules... the very first of which is: Search before posting!

Nope. Cameyo is for x86 not ARM and would need porting, as it is not open source that is not possible.

Possible alternitve?
Is is possible to just get a developer license on an rt device and then use your own signing certificate to sign some application (like audacity) then import the certificate into the trusted root authority list using certmgr.msc? If that worked then we could get something going that would work with few risk of problems. Also for anyone else who might find this useful, you can download a windows rt debugger and it has a built In kernel debugger (maybe could be used to jailbreak???).

... And we come full circle. @johndc7, thanks for your suggestion but did you really think that wasn't among the very first things we tried?
The requirement isn't that the binaries are signed. It's that they're signed by Microsoft. Your suggestion does actually work if the tablet is in Testsigning mode - which means, basically, treat any trusted signature as if it's a MS signature - but putting the tablet in Testsigning mode requires editing the BCD (Boot Configuration Database) and the SecureBoot feature prevents any modification to the SecureBoot flag in the BCD. We even have tried complex steps like exporting the BCD, enabling Testsigning on it, marking it read-only, and re-importing it. No dice. Feel free to experiment more yourself, though...
Oh, and as for kernel debug, that's definitely another way to disable the signature enforcement... and it's just as unusable as your last suggestion. Secure Boot blocks the Debug flags in the BCD. You don't need any special software to perform kernel debugging of RT - any build of kdb or windbg from the last few years can do it - but you do need to be able to put the tablet in debug mode to begin with. Again, if you find a way to do *that*, then that would be very valuable.

Hopefully this is something that is actually somewhat realistic..... I have been wanting to run audacity (mainly) on windows rt. Does anyone know if it would be possible to recompile it to run full screen in metro? Even though this method isn't really ideal, it would be something to temporally use instead of having nothing until somebody finds a better way of doing it. I understand that it probably wouldn't be able to be released to the windows store but a developer license could be installed to run it.

Well, at a bare minimum, you would need to re-write the entire UI. Metro apps don't (can't) use the standard Windows GUI frameworks, so any graphical app that isn't completely DirectX-based (which is to say, pretty much anything except games and command-line apps) will need to have their interface re-written.
Then there's the issue of things like getting it to work within the sandbox (you can largely work around the API restrictions, but the privileges issue is a problem) and, unless it is already possible to compile it under modern versions of Visual Studio (a lot of open-source software isn't), you would need to fix it for MSVC compatibility too.
Short version: Not practically.

Possible Alternative
I did find a folder on my RT device called "CodeIntegrity". The path is "C:/Windows/System32/CodeIntegrity". It contains drivers and stl files that I assume prevent the use of unsigned exes. Permissions that are not normally granted on the Surface are needed to disable the files, but if we could somehow do it maybe it would solve the problem?

Not exactly. They can be signed by any certificate listed in the kek or db and not listed in the dbx. So microsoft (though there are different signatures in rt 8.0 and rt 8.1) and the OEM, and any third party that made drivers that are used on the platform (at least in general). But those are just technical details and don't help find a solution all that much.

I have a jailbroken surface rt and I am trying to use SCUMMvm. The download page says that I need to put sdl.dll and zlib1.dll in the same directory as the executable. Where can I find these files? Do they have to be specifically built for windowsRT?

SDL and zlib have already been ported to Windows RT, it's why DOSBox also works under Windows RT.

Well, it hasn't exactly leaked yet. Do you have the actual file? I can add the correct drivers and remove the timebomb if I can get my hands on it

Unfortunately no, I don't have access to BetaArchive's FTP. But I would be shocked if nobody on this forum had... Fingers crossed it gets reuploaded soon.

Another thing we need to find out, does it require configuration to boot? Or is it just a bootable install image?

Well I manage to get the file. Its not iso its a zip. But I have honestly not Idea what to do with it, and I try in all inventive ways, LOL!. I could make a torrent file if any its interested on. With the compromise on do a tutorial later if some one manage to do anything with it.

In the end, I won't know how exactly to fix the timebomb unless I can see the file itself. Replacing the drivers are just as easy as copy paste into the wim file.

I've been trying to get this running on Surface 2, the way I've been trying with this is a dual boot with RT 8.1 and I've partitioned my device to allow roughly 12GB for the Windows 10 installation.
Unfortunately there is an issue with nvpep causing a BSOD that is beyond my abilities to solve, without nvpep nothing else will work. I don't have a Surface RT to test with but I read that this issue does not manifest on those devices, however it still won't work out of the box.
I've pieced together some information that might be of help if your trying to install that applies to RT and 2.
Make sure secureboot debug policy is applied and don't forget to enable testsigning and nointegritychecks. If you have Jailbreak killing updates installed its probably faster to factory reset your device.
You will need to replace sdbus.sys and ststor.sys in \Windows\system32\drivers\ with versions from RT 8.1.
You will need to edit the registry on build 15035 to disable UAC - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System - EnableLUA set value to 0.
Before booting 15035 you will need to create new directory on EFIESP in \EFI\Microsoft\Recovery and then create an empty BCD Store in that location.
If you don't add the Surface 2 drivers it will actually boot to the desktop but no devices will work (Pretty much every device requires nvpep up and running first), you can play around with it using a USB keyboard and mouse but its a little pointless at the moment.

Would it be possible to share the build with wider community, so more people can have a shot at getting it up and running? I know I would love to play around with it.

Please make no mistake on the significance of said leak. There is no other known more-recent ARM 32bit Windows 10 build available on the Internet. The driver hacking community could appreciate a more open leak very much (just look at what it did to the Lumia 950/XL hacking scene around gus33000).. Sites like uup dot rg-adguard dot net fail to list this build.

Same procedure as other devices but you will have to substitute the drivers with ones from the 2520 aside from qcpep which has to be replaced with an alternative one which I think came from the Lumina WoA project staff (From Lumia 930?). However, if your 2520 has been kept up to date with the latest patches under RT 8.1 then you won't be able to jailbreak it in order to use 15035

The short version as I understand it is that Nvidia screwed up in users favor which makes the Tegra Surfaces immune to permanent effects of the jailbreak killing Windows RT updates. On these devices reversing the negative effects of theses updates is as simple as a factory reset.
Sadly with the Lumia 2520, Qualcomm did the job right and at present there is no going back if a jailbreak killer has ever been installed.
I will try to find the detailed explanation I read and post it here asap.

I was unable to find the explanation that I read but if I find it again I will post.
I could be wrong and there might be more to it but I think the general idea was that Nvida did not implement the mechanism that handles the revocation of previously issued certificates correctly whereas Qualcomm did. On a previously updated Lumia 2520 this prevents the Secure Boot Debug Policy from working because its certificate is no longer going to be valid on the device.

Go to Discord. I discuss all the sub-genes there. The system is not ready for public use. Testsign, secureboot and everything you need is there. No problem using Linux via grub uefi. It is much more difficult to find developers who will do this. And Tales about the impossibility of disabling Secureboot is just a fact of bygone days. The device is now free of these restrictions.
No touch, no modem, no BT, no audio, adreno 330 not work.
But yesterday qcpep and qcpepproxy did not work as expected.
Today they are working as expected.
I will start other hardware devices too. It just takes time.

I know this device is so outdated and all, yet it'd be nice to get some use out of it. Anyone have a proper guide on how to accomplish what @CageOff was saying in order to bypass the security update patches and getting securebooot unlocked. I've tried so many different methods and gotten nowhere in my attempts to get working BOOTABLE USB media for 8.1. No guide clearly explains/points out that the Myriachan's Jailbreak is the exploit specifically intended for the Qualcomm Nokia Lumia 2520 to get the test mode exploit going (if it works). Longhorn obviously doesn't work as it can't install Golden Keys. I went to the Telegram group @CageOff mentions, but there is no way to talk to the person nor any clear info about how he managed to dualboot win10 arm/win8.1 arm. If anyone could shed some light on me here, It'd be much appreciated.

Myriachan is not specifically intended for Qualcomm devices, its just that it can't be permanently patched against but this won't help you for 15035.
I don't have a 2520 but from what I can tell CageOff seems to have booted 15035 on a 2520 but the details are getting lost in translation and a writeup doesn't seem to be forthcoming. From what I can gather even though he has booted 15035 on his 2520, he has done so without the installation of the QCPEP driver and without this driver virtually nothing else will work.

This build does not support the Nokia Lumia 2520 Qualcomm Power Engine Plugin driver. Loading a newer driver for the Snapdragon 800 is mandatory.

The newer driver I believe is harvested from the LumiaWOA project, specifically taken from the Lumia 930 package. It could be worth looking at how WFAv7_Installer installs 15035 on a 930? It might shed some light on the driver ordering, as far as I've been told Qualcomm stuff has to be dealt with in a certain order.
Before you put too much time in to this though remember 15035 is about as much use a chocolate teapot so remember its just for fun. If you spend a week figuring it and actually get it all working in the hope of making an ex-RT device useful you are going to be a little disappointed at the end of it.

That's definitely worth looking into in regards to the "WFAv7_Installer". I just tried the WOA Deployer v2.7.1 and it seems it could be of great use in getting Win 10/11 arm onto this device. Of course, if one can figure out how to access/enter a Mass Storage mode first.
I also read in another forum article that the IOT versions of Windows seems to be more useful for this device, rather than trying to get the standard Pro/Home editions. They also mentioned that one may need to apply the drivers from the original Win 8.1 RT in order to get all of the devices hardware working though. I would personally like to give this a try, but I can't seem to get to the point of being able to install Win 10 build 15035 onto my device. I can't enable test-signing mode, nor disable bootloader with any of the jail breaks available. I get the error code 0x000000000000d (not sure i put the correct amount of zero's there), which seems to give no existing info on the net for that error code, only a few forum posts regarding the variant to that code which ends in "f" which seems to be related to the Surface 1/2 devices.
I know I can format the eMMC properly via command prompt, diskpart, and dism (for Win 8.1 RT), then disable BitLocker (even though C:\ still says Bitlocker Encrypted). Yet, I just can't get the Win 10 media to work which i assume is due to secure boot. Does it make any difference if I'm using the install.wim or install.esd versions of the media?

That's definitely worth looking into in regards to the "WFAv7_Installer". I just tried the WOA Deployer v2.7.1 and it seems it could be of great use in getting Win 10/11 arm onto this device. Of course, if one can figure out how to access/enter a Mass Storage mode first.

WOA Deployer is specifically for deploying WoA on the Lumia 950 & 950 XL, it doesn't support Windows 10 15035 or ARM32 devices like the Lumia 2520.
Windows 11 is out of the question, only small parts of it were built for ARM32 (nothing close to a full client) and the bits that were built won't work with this SoC. I don't believe WFAv7_Installer ever had the 2520 in mind, I only suggested it because how it prepares an image for some of the Lumia phones might shed some light on how an image would need to be prepared for the 2520.

That's going to come down to what you define as useful but personally I don't see any point in running IoT on a tablet. At the time of writing only the 15035 client build is available and that's now over five years old. Drivers taken from the RT 8.1 recovery image would be required along with the replacement PEP driver mentioned previously but its possible not all drivers will be compatible with IoT.

To enable test mode you would need either Golden Keys or the Myriachan jailbreak, unless you are lucky then the device you have might not be capable of using Golden Keys anymore. If I'm remembering correctly the Myriachan jailbreak is only useful for running third party applications under RT 8.1 and wouldn't assist in running another OS.

Windows 10 15035 isn't available as an ESD, you would need to take the 15035 installation files and properly add the drivers to boot.wim, install.wim and winre.wim before copying them to USB and attempting the installation. CageOff seems to have installed 15035 without the use of Golden Keys but even when booted the installation of 15035 is useless because he has not added the PEP driver.
A clean 15035 if you don't have one (No drivers):
