Hi people, this is my very first contribution to this forum. Basically, after switching to CM9 then back to stock, I felt that I was really missing out the ICS spell checking feature (which I don't know why Samsung disabled it).
While searching this forum, I stumbled upon this thread here, which enables the spell checking feature on S2 ICS. The guy posted the changes he made to the files, and I simply applied the same changes to the S3 files (with some improvisation, as they are a bit different).
I tested the mod with a deodexed XXBLG9 ROM here. However, theoretically, it should work on other deodexed stock-based ROMs.
-----------------------
Instruction:
1. Install AOSP Jelly Bean Keyboard from Play Store (link)
2. Reboot to recovery and create NANDroid backup (IMPORTANT!)
3. Use any root explorer to replace \system\app\SecSettings.apk and \system\framework\framework.jar with the files provided below.
4. Make sure that the permission and owner of the files are the same as original (0644)
5. Reboot
Voila!
I was thinking to create a CWM-flashable zip file, but since I am still n00b here, I couldn't. Can somebody teach me how? Better yet, just post a reply here, and I will add it to this post.
EDIT: Taught myself how to create the zip (I was doing it wrong the first time round). The CWM-compatible zip is now added, including uninstaller.
EDIT2: Uploaded the wrong zip files. Please redownload if you downloaded before.

Will this work with the Galaxy S3 for AT&T?
Can anyone help me implement this on the stock Galaxy ROM?
Starting from the jelly bean update, the language files are completely removed from the system's apk and jar files. It would probably require more than just a simple mod to enable it. I will try when i have time.

So I am wondering if anyone can provide some info about how to activate emoji font in JellyBean Roms?

On Jelly Bean ROMS you already have emoji font so you do not need to flash it.
Try to install "Emoji keyboard" and see if you can use it in message app?
Emoji Keyboard
Now I got black and white emoji, just read the instructions in Emoji keyboard description.

Sorry as I said on Jelly Bean you don't need to flash any file. There is a font you need to download from http://www.sendspace.com/file/hwk72t and replace it under system/fonts folder.

I have installed a functional Snote apk into SGS2 with SIMPLISTIC rom 4.1.2 JZO54K.I9100XXLSJ.
Simplistic rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998205
I resized the apk to hdpi using APK Resizer ( Thanks galaxyfreak):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2009370&nocache=1
Instructions:
1) Download a) Snote apks (zip) here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vcc4az47mvbs2re/Snoteapks.zip?m
( USE GET LINK BUTTON)
2) Unzip folder and Copy all apks(6 )to sd card
3) Copy 'ResourceManager' apk to system/app using Root explorer (You must be rooted)
4) Copy remaining 5 apks to data/app
5) Set permissions (for all 6 apks): rw-r-r
6) Reboot
7) Copy snb Sample files to sdcard0/S Note folder : https://www.dropbox.com/s/lu51fbgruyfe68p/Samples.zip?m
8) I used 'BuildProp Editor' to change 'ro.product.model' to 'GT-N7000'
9) Reboot.
It works and saves notes. Handwriting works.
It works in Simplistic rom. Not sure if it work with other roms.
irft has confirmed that it works in odexed LSJ and odexed LS8 also.
Please hit Thanks button if it works for you.

I have managed to get S Note to work ( including handwriting) on SG2.
1) Get S Note v2 zip file from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1997286
( Thanks Arsaw)
2) Flash in recovery
3) Reboot and Snote will be installed but not working properly or saving notes.
4) Use Text editor to edit ' ro.product.model=GT-I9100' (located in system/buildprop)
(Thanks Karaern)
5) Change 'GT-I9100' to GT-N7000' or GT-N7100'
6) Reboot and SNote will work.
I will try using Adonit jot pro stylus.
This is a temporary solution, and some other applications may stop working.

You are right. I used several Snote apks to ensure that snote works on sgs2 because of several complaints in the past ( not working/force closure/no icon in appdrawer). We need to work out which apk do not work and delete them.

This is not a flashable zip.
You need to extract and move the files to the system/app and change permissions accordingly..

It's the direct backup of the app from stock rom.
So, it's supposed to work only on the stock rom.
You should look for the ported one in the themes and apps thread. It might work with CM rom.

Has no one actually considered decompiling the apk? It's likely juts got a command somewhere saying it can't install or work on anything that isn't an op3, remove that and recompile
It's most likely crashing due to the missing libs files. If anyone can help me find the appropriate lib files, I might be able to get it to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
