[Q] Custom ROM with working NFC - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hi,
I have a Sony Xperia S.
I've tried a lot of Custom ROMs (SSpeed, CM10 and a few other ones). I've searched, but I can't find any ROMs with working NFC. I have the same problem with every firmware, the phones see eachother but as soon as I click a picture for sending, NFC crashes.
Are there any custom ROMs where NFC works?
Thanks in advance.

Alright, something is wrong with my phone. Reverted to stock firmware, still doesn't work. "Unfortunately, content sharing has stopped". I give up.

Reverted back to CM10 again, and now it works. No idea what I did.

If you want to test from stock FW. Dial *#*#service#*#* then use service test. However this only works in stock roms

It's been a week flashing ROMs, Radios, Kernels, many combinations and I can't get my Galaxy Nexus to work well. It's picking up AT&T signal sometimes, actually PERFECT reception near home, but then drops 100%
The SIM gets recognized, as the APN settings are correct.
The model I have is the i9250, Engineering model
Thank you for your help, I'm very frustrated

Take a look at my thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487239 and read through and try the combinations recommended. I PERSONALLY recommend the FuGuMod Kernel as it fixed my issues. See my signature for current set up. I use the UGKL1 Radio as well.
Please post your results in that thread as well as here.
Go back to stock 4.0.2 This should work, it normally does... Download it: Here...
It is a zip file, which contains the stock GNex ROM, everything should be back to normal

This may work as well but I have a feeling the OP is trying to use an AOSP 4.0.3+ ROM.
OP - Read my thread and give it a try. It has helped a few like you (INCLUDING MYSELF). What do you have to lose?

Try my exact setup and see what happens...
-FoxHound v1.0 ROM
-FuGuMod 4.0.3 Kernel
-UGKL1 Radio
Give it a try. This set up WORKS for me and the FoxHound ROM is quite nice as well.

Really? Im sorry to hear that. There are some other combos listed there in my thread that have worked for others as well. Maybe try those...
I wish you good luck my friend...
got into stock 4.0.2, unrooted again. NOTHING, maybe antenna issues?
I just had your same problem. I tried any rom and stock flash, but NOTHING.
Then I tried doing "Fix permissions" in CWM recovery and after that PROBLEM SOLVED!
I imagine it's too late for you but maybe this solution could help in future

Can't get GPS working with SlimBean ROM

as the topic says I can't get GPS working with SlimBean ROM. it's JB 4.1.2 based on Jellytime R30. I have the GPS setting turned on but nothing happens when I try the "local" app.
Any suggestions please?
cheers
Did you full wipe before flashing? Does GPS work on another ROM? If so, it's probably a ROM-specific issue.
Yes I did a full wipe and yes GPS works fine on other ROMs I have tried. Hopefully someone who uses this ROM might be able to help.

thanks I already have. Seems others with this ROM have the same problem but it just works for some. Weird
Are you sure you waited long enough to get a fix? Not 100% sure, but I thought after a full wipe all A-GPS data is gone. Not a single sattelite with GPS Test?
work fine for me!

are you using SlimBean?
Did you do anything special to get it to work eg settings?
Are you using internal or external antenna?
What apps do you have it working with?

The "best ROM" is subjective. Try them all and find out which is best for you.
Edit: Make sure you make a backup in your recovery before you try these out, so if something goes wrong you can restore back to where you are now.

Hello meekrawb!
I am sorry for my inexperience, I have a dout.
The function of these rons above is the same that I have installed on my T9889? In the other words, I have installed the Cyanogenmod, this rons will replace the CM10?
Thanks!

Yes, if you flash a ROM it will delete Cyanogenmod 10. If I were you I would just stick with what you have. Unless you really have to have service mode.

Ok! I understood... Let me see if you could help me again...
I want acess the Service Mode because a found a tutorial teaching how to increase the mic sound.
My Problem is: When I call for another person, they say to me that the sound of my calling is far longe.
I'm using UVMC6 Radio with the noise supress activated.
What do you think?
Thank you!
Embryo doesn't support service codes. Its dialer will allow entry but the display won't work.
I am interested in this as well. It seems to me that there should be a command-line function for this available through a terminal emulator, but I haven't found it.

You can try blocking the microphone on the top of the phone. Or you can flash a different kernel. You have to make sure it is the right kernel for your ROM though.
Direction to the solution
O.K i will give you a direction. hopefully someone will help both of us.
I have the same problem, from my searches that is a known problem at T989.
i found a solution to increase the mic sensitivity, that should be at the phone menu but with CM all the Samsung MMI codes doesn't work.
The only code with CM from what I know is *#*#4636#*#* but I didn't find there a Mic option.
So i looked for a way to change it, and i found that there is a way with the app Android Terminal Emulator, but i didn't find the command that change it (at our phone the number should be changed from 90 to 110).
Maybe there is another way to do it but that what i have found till now...
As i said i hope some one will be able to help both of us because this issue is frustrating
i can't add sources because i'm a new user (my first post).

Wi-Fi / Data working ROM

Hi,
I've tried several ROMS past few days and all of them had either the wi-fi or data not working.
Can someone please recomend a ROM that has these two working normally? I see no point of having a mobile without internet.
Please advise which one to try.
Thanks

I've tried shpongle as well, and I booted the .img file that was in the zip but the phone was stuck on boot logo.
Which Kernel should I flash for shpongle and can you link me to these two working ROM's?

I see you are totally noob and don't want to search, just wait for help from another. Search a bit won't make you get tired, will it?
Anyway, for Shpongle, you can use HELLBOY 4.2 version or Ironman. For ROM link, you can find it by yourself.

Well I'm sorry but that's not the case. I've read like 50 threads at least during the past few days and searched allover the place.
I've installed few ROM's but none of them was good ( wifi/date not working) I really installed Shpongle but either I'm booting the wrong image ( cause it stuck on boot) or I'm doing something totally wrong.
That is why I asked for some help and not that I'm lazy.

Have you set up your APN?
For overclocking, first go to Settings > About and tap build number 7 times then open Settings > Performance

No rear camera in any custom ROM

Hey guys!
I need some help here, I have 3 days trying to solve this problem.
I bought the E975, it came rooted. (To be specific: JB 4.1 - JZO54K - E97510g-HKG-XX)
I downloaded freegee, unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP. Everything good until here.
Then I installed a GEE custom ROM, but the rear camera wasn't working, I only had front camera, I tried with almost every GEE Kitkat custom ROMs (Commotio, Vanir, Axxionkat ) and many gee and geehrc kernels then Lolliopo Roms with the same result, I tried using Philz recovery, the last Lollipop mako bootloader and different radios, but no difference.
The only way that it works is restoring the backup to stock :crying:
Any ideas?

D you know if there is somewhere a flashable stock kk European ROM?
I'm having a hard time looking for that :/
Something freaking weird is happening, When I take pictures in stock, using 13MPx picture size is 649x649, but if I use 8Mpx the size is correct (3000 x 1900)... this may seem to be the problem.
I don't know what this guy sold me.

That's what I'm thinking, the weird thing is that it works only with the stock ROM that it came with... but it works.
wondering if is possible to export the driers or whatever makes it work.
