[Q] Flash counter 268468224 ??? - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Hey guys, i dont know when i happend but yesterday i saw that my flash counter is set to 268468224
And now i would like to know how it happened, ok maybe i've flashed most of the roms on xda at least one or two times but isnt that toooo much?
Or is it a new world record ?
I tried resetting it with triangle away but it doesnt support or device.
I tried it on cm9 rc2. Could another rom help me with this?

Huh? Our wonder has a flash counter??

Same here... No idea our device has flash counters ... :/
Sent using my Smoothie ICS ROM

I think some device like GS2 has a flash counter but not our device.
Sent from my GT-I8150 using xda premium

AFAIK the W has no flash counter...
That said, @sinboy how did you find that number?
Quite possibly your method just read some spurious bytes...

Can I Flash roms from i9000 on this version?

Can I Flash roms from i9000 on this version? just got the phone and noticed it didnt have alot of devlopement so anyway to flash i9000 roms on this?
No, you'll brick your phone if you do this.
Only if you want a bricked phone.
The choice is yours.
If you want an expencive paper weight go for it

ICS and rooted phone

Couple questions.
1. Will I get the official ICS update when it's released being rooted?
2. If not, should I just download it from XDA now?
TIA

I would like to kno ... The answer to that question to ... I am rooted on . STOCK Rom ... Not really into that Rom ....BS

Yes you will get the update being rooted. Also there is no t989 ICS. Probably wont be for a while.

Alphas in the dev section.

You will get the update if you are STOCK rooted, not if using a custom ROM.
IF you have CWM installed (and I am sure you do), it could put you in a bootloop if you take the OTA.
IF you flash any of the current ICS builds that are based on Skyrocket, you will loose Wi-Fi calling ..
Just an FYI ...

chances are extremely high once the "official" release is done a rooted version will be hours away so either way your will be fine.

I just downloaded uvlh1.tar for odin.. is it safe to odin this over gb?

Cm 9.1.0 xperia version is so sexy I am currently using miui but cm 9.1.0 is stable as a rock and smother then keth stone

Just use KIES to update to 4.0.4 and root it, remove bloatwares and youre good to good with a fully working phone. She will appreciate it because every custom roms has bugs and always update and i bet she wont like that. My girl hates it too.. This is kinda like the other thread. What rom is wife approve?? Even though they suggest darkside, people always seem to have problems that others dont..

Kies remove root and this guy nows how to root and I ask him bro he's fine... most custom ROMs have less bugs vs aosp(aokp,miui,cm,)...have more bugs. I suggest cm 9.1.0
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Kies to 4.0.4 if you want a stable stock ROM. You can always root after that. 4.0.3 stock wasn't that greatest btw. most of the 4.0.4 custom ROMs are stable. Only the jb 4.1+ roms have a couple bugs here and there.
Btw ^ AOSP is a custom ROM too. I'm sure you know that, but it was a bit confusing and you're not making the most sense right now lol

I second this method, it's the safest. I'd do the same for my girl if I could pry the damn iPhone out of her hands.

Unless it was updated in the past 3 days, it won't work.
It resets the counter, but once you reboot it goes back to what it was before you use triangle away.
If you got it to work for you, then there are a bunch of people who would like to know how.

So what is it? Can it be reset or not? It doesn't matter to me but it's always good to know
Sprint Galaxy S3 rooted and running Blazer Rom

Ya I noticed that, think they changed something in the update? It stayed reset back when I first rooted. Maybe they changed the bootloader?

I have the older version (1.70) and that worked fine on an ICS ROM, it's the first version that had the Sprint SGS3 as a supported device. Idk if anyone wants it but PM me. Chainfire releases Triangle Away for free on XDA but it's still a paid app so I'm not too sure on the etiquette regarding posting the apk
Oh and your flash counter does not increase by flashing ROMs/Mods/Themes in a custom recovery, it only increases by flashing non official software through Odin. So if you flashed a custom recovery via odin, the counter would increase by 1. But if you flashed a ROM by using the custom recovery, your flash counter will not increase

That sounds awesome. So I tried Balzer Rom for the last couple of days and I noticed that the battery life suffered drastically. I switched back to Sprint Touchwiz Jelly Bean 4.1.1 Leak. That works great for me so far.
How do you check the counter?

that happens when you Odin certain things .. it will not effect anything to my knowledge but you can get rid of it if you are not on the new JB builds triangle away will do it .. or Mobile Odin a stock kernel should do it if you are on A JB build
Alright thank you!

Hey there, same thing has happened to me. It however did not effect my flash. I believe it is in the kernel that you are flashing. Most roms reflash their own kernel so it doesnt matter but you can use a different cwm kernel and it will not happen.

It is the kernel. I think it's an el26 CWM direct boot. I had the same thing and your right it doesn't or I should say didn't affect my flash but I would recommend using el29 from rwilco's repository.
